Inspired by the iconic Japanese stop sign, a little ironic for an ashtray. The design is meant to bring a part of Japan home from your late night konbini runs and peaceful walks around town. The ash tray is heavy for its size, made from cement and features painted details to make it stand out in your office or home. Branding is kept minimal with a blind embossed logo on the side.

While Japanese companies are no strangers to quirky tie ins, Subaru collaborated with jewelry company U-TREASURE to produce a limited set of wedding wings. When stacked Subaru’s six star logo can be seen. The pair of rings will be release on Decemeber 24th, 2025 if you’re interested for the price tag of 132,000 yen each.

Excited to finally release my collaboration with VERTEX Japan! If you have followed me for a while you know I made a shirt with Vertex seven years ago. I’ve been dreaming of creating an actual steering wheel for years, and this year I decided to take the risk and make it happen. Of course, I had to pay tribute to one of my favorite games, Tokyo Xtreme Racer. I also wanted to do something different, so I designed my own horn plate to make the release even more unique.

The wheel is now available on the website and in stock. Horn plates are also available separately in limited quantities.

First announced at the NOS2Days shows in 2024, NISMO has provided details on pricing and specifications of their new DOHC head. With growing interest in older cars and the development of several different DOHC heads, I guess NISMO didn’t want to miss out on the fun. The cast aluminum head features 4 valves per cylinder with a chain driven DOHC set up. The valves make use of existing KA24DE valves for both the intake and exhaust. A pre-requisite of using the head is ensuring that the cylinders are bored to 89mm – their example is using the N42 engine block. Another detail to note is that the engine requires new engine mounts that rotate 12 degrees to the left, requiring changes to both the oil pan and transmission to accommodate. Only 300 pieces will be made and will only officially support the S30/S31 chassis.

As with every trip to a new country, I try my luck finding local car activities to check out. While on my honeymoon in Italy, I came across a neat little private collection – mostly Maseratis, but also featuring plenty of vintage cars and motorcycles. The museum is actually located on a farm that produces delicious Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, so be sure to try some before you leave.

It used to run on donations but now costs €15 to enter. Since mid-2025, it’s been updated with a new building next to the original barn. If you ever find yourself near Modena, definitely check it out!

For 2025 not much has changed for the project car besides focusing on improving the drivability of the car, namely focusing on the fuel delivery set up. I discovered that the banjo bolts I developed cracks and debris clogging up the carburetors leading to intermittent issues. Two modifications I was eagerly waiting were the Endless brake calipers and R180 diff from a Subaru STi. The 3.9 final drive of the differential really made the car more enjoyable since I found the second gear to be really long as is.

Shunsaku Tamiya, the chairman of Tamiya and son of founder Yoshio Tamiya, passed away on July 18, 2025 at the age of 90. Known worldwide for elevating scale modeling with Tamiya’s high-quality plastic kits, hand-illustrated box art, and meticulous attention to detail, Shunsaku transformed the company into a global icon of hobby culture. Shunsaku helped popularized the radio controlled car market as a competitive sport in the 1980’s. After stepping down as president in June 2024, he was succeeded by Nobuo Tamiya but remained chairman until his passing.

Continuing the work of producing heritage parts, TGR will reproduce the 4A-GE engine head and block. The engine is of course found in the popular AE86 chassis under the Toyota Sprinter Trueno and Corolla Levin model.

While technical the parts are reproductions Toyota has made minor adjustments to modernize each part.

One of the shops I wanted to visit the most in Japan, the shop is well known for their work on kyusha cars – their famous car is a green S30Z which sadly wasn’t there. I think Mizuno Works’ cars had the style I wanted to emulate back home. The shop was filled with lots of classic cars, rare wheels, and old parts. Thanks to Mizuno-san for taking the time to show me around the shop.
