Hello everyone! I have a pretty awesome give-away now here in my blog. The kit you see below will allow you to create several layouts... (pictured following the give-away), and you will also have some pretty Sizzix dies and embossing folders to work with... so this is give-away is for those who have sizzix machines or other compatible die-cutting machines already.. here are the mechanics..
If you win this give-away, here are the layouts that you can make from the Webster's kit ... or you can always design your own using the ALPHA dies and embossing folder from Sizzix :)
Good luck!!

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I last posted here in my blog... those who follow me would know that I am mainly a mixed media person, but recently I have been teaching adult coloring and have now been working with watercolour... which I absolutely love. I have been asked about my process and so I decided to write this post..
Here is a recent piece I finished. I started with freehand florals and abstract florals which I find very relaxing since it is very free and you have absolutely no idea how the final outcome will look like :) Recently though I am more into floral works with more details...
here is a close-up..
As for my process, I would look for inspiration everywhere... most often times - the internet. I don't have access to a lot of fresh blooms here so I look for photographs that inspire me...
here is the photograph I saw at the internet (wish I could find the name of the photographer) and drew inspiration from the florals and the colors of the bouquet.
I would start with a very light sketch and will slowly add the colors...
As for brushes... my favorite now are my Escoda Reserva Brushes 6 and 4. I work with small brushes so I can get more detail. For fine lines, I either use a liner or a detailer brush.... As for paper, I mainly use Canson Montval or Hahnemuhle Aquarelle. The paint I used here is Sennelier Pans plus I added some Nicker White Gouache to add some highlights at the centre of the flowers.
I do teach simpler watercolor work and for those interested, my next one will be on Sunday, Jan 31, at Fully Booked BGC. You can send me a message at 0917-8283308 or you can check the workshop sign-up link at the upper left portion of this blog.
Enjoy the rest of the week everyone!
Hugs,
IRIS
Hello everyone! It's a rainy day here in Manila and no classes for my girls due to the weather. A perfect time to just hang-out and bond with the kids. For those who have been bitten by the adult coloring craze, I want to share with you this short video I made on how I layer and blend colors using colored pencils. Materials used are Faber-Castell Polychromos Pencils (LOVE!), Mungyo Soft Pastels (very affordable and works like a dream), Wink of Stella Glitter Pens and Brushes (another top favorite), inks and stamps (from my mixed media stash). Hope you will like it!
PLEASE DOUBLE CLICK TO SEE FULL SCREEN. THANKS!
If you have any questions or would just like to leave a note for me, leave a comment please. I would like to hear from you. Have a great day!

Hello everyone! I am taking a huge scary step here by publishing for the first time a video tutorial on how I usually make my background pages as base for my scrapbook layouts. I focused on how to use Shimmerz Mists and Dazzelerz and combining it with Shabby Embossing Enamels to create a beautiful textured background.
The paper collection I used is from Webster's Pages "Strawberry Fields". Dies from CheeryLynn Designs and The Tattered Lace. Washi tape from My Mind's Eye, Stencils from The Crafter's Workshop, and laser cut chipboard from Dusty Attic.
Here are some detail shots.
And here is a link to the video..
To view it in HD, please click on the you tube tab at the bottom right corner of the video as it plays. Once in YouTube, select viewing quality HD for brighter and clearer graphics.
Thanks and I hope you will like the video! I would love to hear from you and even get some suggestions on other topics/ tutorials that you would like to read about and see.
Have a great day!

Hi everyone! Just sharing here a canvas I made for Maja Design Papers... Used their Vintage Summer and Vintage Spring basic papers together with some dies from Memory Box and The Tattered Lace Designs to create soft dimensional foam and gold foil cut shapes.
Having some serious back pains so I hope you will forgive me for this very brief post. Just wanted to make sure I had something for you here every now and then...
Thanks for your visit!

I recently learned of the DT CALL for Cheerylynn Designs. I love their dies and since I always incorporate the use of dies in my work I thought to give it a try. I chose this piece since all or most of the embellishments here were created using dies, foam sheet, and some paint...
The beautiful bird cage I used here is from Cheerylynn Dies... Bird Cage - B198
I had a whole afternoon free to create and so I sat down with a piece of plain, cheap, raw chipboard sheet and created this. I coated the chipboard sheet with white acrylic paint, then layered stencils with gesso and modelling paste...
When the base was done, I added die-cut shapes, resin pieces, flowers, and a brass key hole. It is such a wonderful feeling to sit down and think of what you may possibly end up with. This piece is something I'm really happy about. Now it's your turn! Find some "ME" time this week, sit down and create something. It can be a big or small project. Just have fun, and don't forget to let go and play with your paint!
Here are some step-by-step pics to show you how the base was done...
1. Take a chipboard base and cut it to your desired size. You will need two pieces for front and back.
2. Coat the cover with white acrylic paint or white gesso.
3. Once, dry, take several stencils and apply modelling paste over the stencils. Wait in between layers as you add more stencil designs so you won't ruin the other patterns when you place another stencil down on your board. Let dry.
4. Apply a base coat of mist. I used here SHimmerz in Egg Nogin.. a creamy yellowish tone.
5. Next, apply several watercolors in tones that will complement each other. I used the new Inklingz here. You will love this product. Once you add a little water to the solid jars, the paint becomes creamy. You can make the coverage either thick or thin depending on your preference. It also has a very beautiful sheen to it.
6. To add more depth and to create shadows, I added Viva Inka Gold in Turquoise and Rose. It has a beautiful metallic finish to it.
7. Finally, to help blend in all the colors, I used a gold toned fine mica powder from Jaquard. To apply this powder, you first have to rub embossing ink all over the board then immediately add the powder using a dry brush over areas you want to highlight and blend.
Here is a picture of the different colors from the new Shimmerz Inklingz collection.
