I recently shot an episode of "Dr. Good" for The Onion... I think it's funny, but I like anything I'm in. Does that make me a narcissit? Maybe, but it makes for good film!

Recently I was asked back to tell a story at Here's the Story, a kick ass night of storytelling in the city of the wind...

Everyone has a story to tell, some more than others, but one is there if you dig around enough for it. Here's one of mine...Someone else called it "Oriental Massage," not a title I would have chosen... I think titles as whole or as an idea are overrated anyway... I would have called it Untitled #2, but as I said, I wasn't there when it was "named" so I gotta live with it.

Being a Bellman

Like most people without a college degree I had to use my back to make a living for most of my life. For a good part of my "knock about" years I was a bellmen in L.A., which isn't exactly a bad way to make some scratch. I enjoyed it actually. Well, not enjoyed, that's looking at the past through nostalgic eyes, let's just say there's worse ways to use your back to pay the bills.

I've recently gotten back into storytelling. I dig it. Less pressure than doing stand-up and more control than acting. This is a podcast of a story I told at "Here's The Story" in a little town that goes by the name of Chicago. It's by a lake. It's not half bad once you get used to not seeing the sun for days at a stretch.

It's a great place to tell a story. The audience really listens. "Good crowd," as I used to say when I did stand-up.

Someone other than me titled it; "Bellmans Revenge" which isn't what it was called, it was called "Untitled" but if I had to call it something it wouldn't have contained the word revenge. I don't like revenge, but sometimes things we do can appear that way.

I was lucky enough to work on a film last year; "Just Like A Woman," directed by French filmmaker and Oscar winner; Rachid Bouchareb. I played "Harvey" the solitaire playing and tank top wearing (little bit of typecasting there) husband of the great British actress; Sienna Miller.

Was an amazing experience to take direction from a filmmaker who spoke so little English but was able to convey everything he wanted with a gesture or look of the eyes...  The thing that seems to set the great directors, the ones I have been lucky enough to work with, apart is their passion and humility.

Nah... Not really... This blog. Website. URL... whatever it is they call these days is sort of like the harmonica I've been carrying around for 20 years... Every so often I remember it's there. I remember that I've always wanted to learn to play the blues, so I pull it out and play for a few hours, just to put it away again...

I guess this is just a place for a little self-promotion, which I guess isn't a bad thing if you believe all the hype...

Just a place to get to know me I figure... A little more intimate than the Facebook...

I shot a film, seems like forever ago; "Home Run Showdown." I play a guy locked up in the joint as my kid tries to achieve some baseball thing or something... I didn't read the whole script, just my lines...

It's going to be release on Amazon this August, so go ahead and buy it so I can get a residual check and take us all out for dinner... All of us. Everyone.

It never seems to fail that coolest and most humble of artists are generally the ones so determined to show the truth...

I play the not so sensitive husband to Sienna Miller's not so happy wife... The way cool aspect, apart from playing the husband of a chick that Daniel Craig played just the boyfriend of (what a loser right?) in "Layer Cake" is that I got the gig because I have always taken any opportunity offered to work on the craft.

My agent called saying the casting director needed someone to come in and read with the actors that had auditions... (which I obviously wasn't one of) and I said "yeah." Hang out with a cool French director all day, acting for 8 hours straight in a nice casting studio, what the hell right? 

So I did it, and after 2 days of reading with actors for the part of "Harvey" the aforementioned not so sensitive husband of Sienna Miller's wife, Rachid offered me the role...

Was a cool affirmation of not only my abilities as an actor, but my lifelong committment to seize any opportunity to simply act.

"Bringing Back America's Past" JBH Productions spent the day out at Broken Wagon Bison ranch in Hobart Indiana getting up close and personal with an American Icon.
