Trabzonspor have officially opened negotiations to sign Egypt captain Mohamed Salah, the Turkish club announced on Tuesday.

The Süper Lig side issued a brief public announcement confirming their first formal move for the 34-year-old forward.

“Negotiations have begun regarding the transfer of professional footballer Mohamed Salah to our club,” Trabzonspor said.

So far, reports have placed Trabzonspor’s proposal at approximately €17 million per season over two years in a package that includes bonuses, while sponsors would reportedly cover part of the cost.

On Saturday, KingFut reported that Trabzonspor had sent draft contractual documents to the Egyptian’s agent, Ramy Abbas, as the parties attempted to complete the deal this week.

Several Turkish outlets subsequently claimed that Salah had accepted the offer and could travel to Trabzon on Wednesday.

Trabzonspor’s confirmation comes after club president Ertuğrul Doğan played down reports linking the club with Salah.

Doğan initially described claims surrounding the transfer as untrue. He then denied that an agreement or flight had been arranged but declined to reveal whether he had spoken directly with the forward.

Trabzonspor entered the race after talks between Salah and Beşiktaş stalled over financial and contractual terms. The Istanbul club declined to improve its final proposal but left the offer available.

Juan Bezerra has reportedly informed Zamalek that he wants to leave and asked the club to discuss Shabab Al Ahli’s offer for the Brazilian.

Bezerra has notified Zamalek of his desire to end his spell in Cairo and consider the Emirati proposal from Shabab Al Ahli. The Brazilian winger remains determined to leave despite attempts by board member Hussein El-Sayed to convince him to stay, according to reports.

Shabab Al Ahli have opened formal talks over a summer transfer, but the White Knights are reluctant to let go of their star forward after his impressive performances last season.

The Dubai side’s opening proposal is said to be valued at approximately $3.5 million. However, Zamalek are seeking at least $6 million, alongside a future resale percentage and performance-related bonuses.

Zamalek board member Ahmed Soliman acknowledged that the club had received a significant offer but publicly rejected the prospect of a sale. “We do not want to sell Bezerra, and we will not sell any player,” Soliman said.

Bezerra joined Zamalek from Oleksandriya for a reported $1.8 million in August 2025 and signed a four-year contract running until June 2029.

He recorded eight goals and 12 assists in 44 appearances during his first season, helping Zamalek win the Egyptian Premier League and reach the CAF Confederation Cup final.

Zamalek have terminated their contract with Seifeddine Jaziri by mutual consent, ending the Tunisian striker’s five and a half year spell.

The White Knights announced the agreement on Monday, describing the separation as entirely amicable.

Zamalek did not disclose the financial terms of the settlement, but Jaziri’s contract had been due to run until June 2027, meaning the 33-year-old now becomes a free agent one season early.

The club thanked Jaziri for his “professionalism, contributions and achievements” in the white shirt before wishing him success in the next stage of his career.

The decision represents a sudden reversal after Jaziri’s agent, Hazem Fetouh, said just a couple of days ago that the forward would remain at Zamalek.

Jaziri had previously submitted a complaint to FIFA over unpaid wages reportedly covering seven months.

Zamalek subsequently paid the outstanding amount before the expiry of the player’s formal notice, before entering negotiations over an early termination.

The club’s statement said all matters relating to the contract had now been settled but did not clarify whether Jaziri received compensation for the final year of his deal.

Jaziri had initially joined Zamalek on loan from Arab Contractors in January 2021. The Cairo club then activated their purchase option at the end of that season and handed him a permanent contract.

The Tunisia international made 185 appearances across all competitions, scoring 48 goals and providing 19 assists.

That total made Jaziri Zamalek’s highest-scoring foreign player, surpassing former Yemen striker Ali Mohsen’s longstanding record of 47 goals.

Moreover, Jaziri collected seven trophies during his time with the White Knights.

He won the Egyptian Premier League in 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2025/26, as well as the Egypt Cup in 2020/21 and 2024/25. The forward also helped Zamalek lift the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup and the 2024 CAF Super Cup.

FC Nordsjælland have reportedly ended their pursuit of Al Ahly goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir after their proposed financial package was rejected.

The Danish Superliga side explored a move through Shobeir’s representatives but did not return with an improved proposal after Al Ahly made clear that they intended to keep the 26-year-old.

The Cairo giants rejected Nordsjælland’s approach because of the low financial terms. The proposal is said to have been between approximately $500,000 and $600,000.

The goalkeeper’s current contract expires in June 2027, leaving him able to negotiate with other clubs from January if he does not renew.

Al Ahly has offered him a three-year contract extension and is awaiting his response. The club also plans to increase his salary after his development into the first-choice goalkeeper.

Shobeir also recently appointed the UK-based agency CAA Base as his new representatives.

Nordsjælland had exercised their purchase option in May for Ibrahim Adel after a brief loan spell, with the winger signing a permanent contract until June 2029.

Nordsjælland football director Alexander Riget said the transfer strengthened the club’s relationship with Egyptian football and its Right to Dream academy in Egypt.

Shobeir, for now, remains with Al Ahly unless another club submits an offer that meets their valuation before the transfer window closes.

Additionally, several Turkish outlets reported earlier that Trabzonspor had opened formal talks and submitted their first offer. Trabzon-based outlet 61Saat placed the proposal at €17 million annually for two seasons.

A Spor reported a similar salary range of €16 million to €17 million, adding that sponsors would fund part of the package. It also claimed Trabzonspor planned to speak with Salah’s existing commercial partners.

However, beIN Sports Türkiye offered a different account. The broadcaster said that while the projected annual cost, including bonuses, stood between €16 million and €17 million, claims of an agreed two-year contract and special shirt-sale clauses were inaccurate at that stage.

Notably, the new claim emerged hours after Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan denied that the club had reached an agreement with Salah.

“There is no such agreement,” Doğan told A Spor. “There is no planned flight to Trabzon tomorrow. If there were such a plan, the press and supporters would be informed.”

When asked directly whether he had spoken with Salah, Doğan declined to answer, “I do not want to talk about that,” he said. “As of now, there is no agreement.”

Trabzonspor entered the race after Besiktas paused, and now seem to have given up on their negotiations with the Egypt captain.

KingFut previously reported that the Istanbul club would not improve their last proposal following disagreements over commission, image rights and commercial revenue. Besiktas sporting director Önder Özen said the existing offer remained available but warned that the club would pursue alternatives.

Abbas said earlier in July that Salah’s next destination remained unknown but could become clear soon. He also rejected suggestions that the player’s camp was holding unnecessary talks to attract publicity.

UEFA has declared that it has lost confidence in FIFA president Gianni Infantino despite the decision to abandon plans to sell a stake in the World Cup’s commercial operations.

European football’s governing body issued its latest rebuke on Saturday, hours after FIFA cancelled the proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise project.

The statement deepens the crisis surrounding Infantino’s leadership but does not represent a formal FIFA vote of no confidence or automatically remove him from office.

UEFA has not announced whether its 55 member associations will seek an extraordinary FIFA Congress to consider his dismissal.

Under FIFA’s statutes, 20% of its 211 national associations must request an extraordinary Congress. That means 43 countries could initiate the process and seek to place a no-confidence vote on the agenda.

UEFA alone has enough members to meet that threshold if its associations act collectively.

Prior to UEFA’s statement, Infantino had walked back the idea to sell stakes in the World Cup’s commercial operations. “Having listened carefully to all the views, it has become clear that the project has created divisions,” he said.

The current FIFA president said he intended to reunite the different parties and continue increasing development funding, particularly for countries requiring greater support.

The proposal would have created a subsidiary valued at approximately $20 billion to oversee FIFA’s competitions and associated commercial operations.

FIFA planned to sell about 20% of that company to external investors, raising up to $4.2 billion. Thrive Eternal, an investment vehicle linked to Joshua Kushner’s Thrive Capital, was expected to lead the investor group.

FIFA had also told national associations they could receive up to $40 million in funding if they supported the plan by September 19.

However, UEFA, Concacaf and the Asian Football Confederation opposed the proposal. Together, the three confederations represent 143 of FIFA’s 211 associations.

UEFA’s members had unanimously agreed to boycott all FIFA competitions while the proposal remained active. The European body demanded both its complete withdrawal and binding assurances that FIFA would never open its competitions or governance to private ownership.

Hamza Abdelkarim scored twice on his unofficial Barcelona first-team debut before Birmingham City won 3-2 on penalties following a 2-2 draw.

The 18-year-old started at centre-forward and played 62 minutes at St Andrew’s as one of 10 players making their senior Barcelona debuts.

Birmingham took the lead in the 31st minute when Priske headed home a cross, but Abdelkarim brought Barcelona level shortly before half-time.

The Egyptian won a penalty after being fouled inside the area and converted it confidently in the 42nd minute.

He completed his brace on the hour mark, reacting quickest after Birmingham goalkeeper James Beadle deflected Roony Bardghji’s shot into his path.

Former Girona midfielder Jhon Solís equalised in the 69th minute, leaving the teams level at the end of normal time.

Birmingham then won the resulting shootout 3-2, despite substitute Barcelona goalkeeper Aron Yaakobishvili saving two penalties.

Speaking after the match, Abdelkarim expressed his satisfaction with his performance while emphasizing the squad’s continued development.

“It was really great. I’m very happy, and I hope we keep working,” he said.

Abdelkarim added that Barcelona had played well against a physically strong Birmingham team. He said the club’s young players needed time to understand one another and build confidence.

The former Al Ahly striker also said he hopes his performance represents the beginning of a longer first team opportunity.

Abdelkarim said he wanted supporters to see more of the qualities he showed in Birmingham, particularly his ability to create chances and score goals.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick praised the forward’s personality, potential and movement inside the penalty area.

“That’s what I ask of a number nine,” Flick said after the game.

The German had previously opened the door for Abdelkarim to join Barcelona’s first-team pre-season preparations following his performances at youth level.

The 18-year-old initially joined Barcelona on loan from Al Ahly in February, becoming the first Egyptian player to sign for the Catalan club. He scored six goals in 11 appearances for Barcelona’s under-19 side before the club exercised its purchase option. Barcelona completed his permanent transfer in June, handing him a three-year contract running until June 2029.

UEFA and its 55 member associations will boycott FIFA competitions over a proposal to sell part of the World Cup’s commercial operations.

European football’s governing body announced the decision after an emergency virtual meeting on Thursday, escalating its dispute with FIFA over the proposed creation of a $20 billion commercial subsidiary.

“No UEFA national teams will participate in any FIFA competition for so long as these proposals remain alive,” UEFA said in a statement.

UEFA said it would only reverse its position if FIFA abandoned the proposal completely and provided binding assurances that its governance and competitions would never be opened to private ownership.

“The World Cup is not for sale,” the statement added.

The English Football Association supported the decision, saying it stood alongside the other European associations and that they “oppose FIFA’s plans – the FIFA World Cup belongs to football and always will.”

The boycott could initially affect FIFA’s inaugural Under-15 World Cup in Azerbaijan in October. Brazil will also host the Women’s World Cup next year.

The decisions came after FIFA announced on Tuesday that it wanted to establish “FIFA Forward Enterprise,” a new subsidiary consolidating its commercial and event operations.

The company would handle commercial activities connected to the World Cup and other FIFA competitions, including broadcasting, sponsorship, ticketing, licensing and hospitality rights.

FIFA plans to sell non-controlling stakes of up to 20% to outside investors, potentially raising $4.2 billion based on an initial company valuation of $20 billion.

The governing body said it would retain sole control of the company and exclusive authority over tournament formats, regulations, the international match calendar and all sporting decisions.

Joshua Kushner’s Thrive Eternal is expected to lead the proposed investor group. FIFA is working with JPMorgan on the project, while former Liberty Media chief executive Greg Maffei has acted as a commercial adviser.

The plan still requires the support of a majority of the 211 member associations and approval from the FIFA Council.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino described the plan as an opportunity to generate over $10 billion for “football development worldwide.”

He later said the proposal was part of a consultation process and “not an obligation” after several confederations complained that FIFA had developed it without their involvement.

The Asian Football Confederation and Concacaf have joined UEFA in criticising FIFA’s consultation process.

The global players’ union FIFPRO has also warned that private ownership could permanently change the financial incentives behind FIFA competitions.

CAF has taken a more cautious position. The African governing body confirmed that it had received FIFA’s proposal and said that president Patrice Motsepe, who is an ally of Infantino, would convene an Executive Committee meeting next week to evaluate it.

Under the proposed funding structure, the Egyptian Football Association could receive up to $40 million if the plan is approved and it meets the conditions for accessing both funding programmes.

The EFA has not publicly declared its position on the proposal. CAF’s decision next week could prove influential as FIFA attempts to secure the majority required to proceed with the share sale.

Zamalek seem to have abandoned their pursuit of a foreign manager and handed Motamed Gamal full control of the first team.

The Egyptian champions announced the decision to keep the current manager and accept the sporting director John Edward’s resignation late on Tuesday, completing a major reversal after weeks of negotiations with several foreign coaches.

Zamalek thanked Edward for his work and said they would hold a farewell ceremony in his honour. The board also plans to appoint a new sporting director shortly.

Gamal will remain as head coach for the 2026/27 season and receive full authority over first-team affairs.

The White Knights will begin their pre-season camp on Friday as they prepare to defend the Egyptian Premier League title and return to the CAF Champions League.

The decision ends Zamalek’s attempt to appoint Serbian coach Vuk Rašović, despite the club appearing close to completing an agreement only days earlier.

As KingFut previously reported, Zamalek had accepted amendments requested by Rašović, but the parties had yet to sign the final contract.

The club had also explored other foreign candidates during the summer. Zamalek contacted Spanish coach Pablo Franco before ending that pursuit, while Bulgarian manager Ivaylo Petev also held talks.

Zamalek did not disclose Edward’s reason for resigning, but the choice of head coach seems to have been a central disagreement between him and the board.

Edward wanted to appoint a foreign manager and had reached terms with Rašović. President Hussein Labib and several board members, on the other hand, favoured Gamal because of his familiarity with the squad, recent results and the cost of employing a foreign coaching staff.

Zamalek appointed Edward as sporting director in June 2025 and initially gave him full authority over the first team and other football matters.

Polish side Pogon Szczecin are discussing a possible move for Egyptian centre-back Omar Fayed with his parent club Fenerbahçe.

According to reports, the clubs had opened talks and expected the player’s future to become clearer soon. Pogon are said to be in the market for a young defender who can develop at the club and potentially generate a future transfer profit, and have identified Omar Fayed as a potential target.

The 23-year-old would provide competition for Dimitrios Keramitsis and Attila Szalai at the heart of Spanish manager Oscar García’s defence.

Pogon previously tried to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Alfie Dorrington but failed to complete either move. Moreover, the Polish club faced Fenerbahce in a pre-season friendly on July 11, with the Turkish side winning 4-0.

Turkish outlet Fanatik separately reported that Fenerbahçe are planning to part ways with the defender, as “interest emerges from Egypt and other European leagues.”

Fayed joined Fenerbahçe from Arab Contractors in August 2023 and signed a four-year contract running until June 2027.

He has yet to make a competitive first-team appearance for the Istanbul club, spending each of the past three seasons on loan.

The defender played 21 matches across all competitions for Serbian side Novi Pazar during the 2023/24 campaign before recording 15 appearances for Belgian club Beerschot the following season.

Omar Fayed then joined Arouca on loan, making 10 appearances for the Portuguese club before returning to Fenerbahçe.

An injury interrupted his campaign and kept him out between January and the latter stages of the season.

In 2024, Fayed started five matches as the Olympic team reached the semi-finals of the Paris 2024 Games before finishing fourth. He was, however, selected for the team of the tournament.
