Reclamation efforts at the 23096AMLBAML (Maple Creek Subdivision (Porter Willis) Drainage) are still ongoing but due to an unforseen slide occurring behind the Dwayne Lee residence, additional earthwork was necessary to return the slope to a stable configuration. Adding the additional earthwork would have significantly increased the overall bid amount. Therefore, paving was completely removed from the contract and the additional earthwork was added. This project will only address bituminous repair efforts along Bunches Creek, Maple Creek Road and Maple Creek Subdivision Road. Directions to the three sites are as follows:

The Central Utility Plant building was built in 1936, with the addition in 1949, and is designated as a
historic structure. All work shall be performed in a manner that preserves and protects its historic
character and features.

This project consists of demolition, structural modifications, and installation of new mechanical,
electrical, controls, and plumbing systems to support the addition of a 100,000 lb/hr boiler within the
central heating plant.

Work includes completion of remaining demolition of existing piping systems and water softening
equipment. The existing electrical generator and associated support systems will be removed from the
central heating plant and relocated to Cooling Plant No. 2. A new electrical generator, along with all
required supporting components, will be installed within the central heating plant to serve the
upgraded facility.

To accommodate the installation of the new boiler, a portion of the existing exterior wall will be
removed and subsequently reinstalled following equipment placement. Structural modifications
include infilling of existing pits and construction of a new trench to support installation of the boiler
and associated systems. The trench will provide routing for piping and drainage infrastructure
required for the new equipment.

New access catwalks will be installed around the boiler to provide safe and adequate access to critical
maintenance and operational components.

Mechanical scope includes installation of new water softeners, a brine tank, and associated piping and
support systems to meet the operational requirements of the upgraded boiler system.
Plumbing work includes installation of new floor drains within the trench, along with additional
drainage components necessary to support boiler blowdown, equipment drains, and general plant
drainage requirements.

Controls scope includes integration of the new boiler and associated equipment into the central plant
control system. Work includes installation and programming of new control panels, field devices, and
instrumentation; implementation of boiler sequencing and lead/lag control strategies; integration with
the existing building automation system (BAS); and provision of alarms, trending, and operator
interface graphics to support safe and efficient plant operation.

This project intends to reroute a segment of gravity line and replace an existing Pump Station and Force Main serving the I-65 Northbound Welcome Center in Simpson County, KY. The gravity portion will require directional bore under a pavement segment to maintain truck traffic. The manhole immediately upstream of the station will be replaced with a “pretreatment” grinder/manhole combination called a “Muffin Monster”. The current station has developed consistent malfunction and requires the KYTC to mobilize a pump trunk to evacuate the existing pump station wet well at an exorbitant monthly cost. It is suspect the existing force main has developed downstream issues affecting the ability of the existing system to function. The KYTC, through the KY Dept of Finance and DECA, elected to replace the station and force main. A portion of the force main traverse’s private property (KY DOWNS Gaming, Horse Racing and Hotel Complex) and will require a utility easement for new routing until it ends at an existing sewer manhole owned and maintained by the City of Franklin. This manhole will be reconstructed as part of the project.
Stabilize/reseed all disturbed areas affected by the scope of work.

In addition to roadway damage, the ongoing slope instability has resulted in repeated failures of the primary water distribution line serving these residents.

The BASE BID Work shall include removal of existing low level drawdown system and installation of new reinforced concrete stop log guide walls including new sill and slots for new stop logs, and installation of a new low level drawdown system including new gate thimble, concrete overlay, and concrete operating platform. Leakage reduction items include installation of PZC-18 metal sheet piling along the specified corridor and backfilling the area between sheet piling and upstream face of the dam. On the downstream face perform masonry joint repairs, masonry stone replacement, and tree removal to support leakage reduction. To improve site safety along the concrete walkway, remove and replace existing pipe handrail with OSHA and IBC-compliant handrail system with safety gate at the new gate operator. Existing siphon pipe is to be extended upstream of the sheet piling and existing water line along the walkway handrail for reinstallation or to be replaced in-kind.
Demolition Work shall include full or partial demolition of the following existing structures: pipe handrail along the walkway, existing gate, stem, operator, and components. Localized chipping/demolition of the concrete slab near reported near the bottom of the existing gate may be required to accommodate installation of the new low level drawdown system.
The CONTRACTOR’s Work shall also include site safety, maintenance of traffic, water control, site security, and site cleanup.
