एमटीयू: पीएचडी के लिए 105 वेकेंसी

महामाया टेक्निकल यूनिवर्सिटी (एमटीयू) ने अपने पहले पीएचडी प्रोग्राम के लिए 105 वेकेंसी निकाली है। यूनिवर्सिटी द्वारा बनाए गए 16 रिसर्च सेंटर पर चुनी गई हर स्ट्रीम के लिए 5 वेकेंसी निर्धारित की गई हैं। विश्वविद्यालय अनुदान आयोग (यूजीसी) की औपचारिक अनुमति के बाद इन वेकेंसी पर इंटरव्यू दे चुके अभ्यर्थियों की सूची जारी कर दी जाएगी।

यूनिवर्सिटी ने पीएचडी के 16 रिसर्च सेंटर बनाए हैं, जिनमें मैनेजमेंट के लिए छह सेंटर पर 30, फार्मेसी के लिए छह सेंटर पर 30, इलेक्ट्रीकल एंड इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स (ईईई) में दो सेंटर पर 10, मेकेनिकल में चार सेंटर पर 20, कंप्यूटर साइंस में दो सेंटर पर 10 और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स एंड कम्यूनिकेशन में एक सेंटर पर 5 वेकेंसी होंगी।

एमटीयू के कुलपति प्रोफेसर एसके काक ने बताया कि हर स्ट्रीम के लिए अधिकतम पांच वेकेंसी निर्धारित की गई हैं। कॉलेजों से इस बारे में लिखित सूचना भी मांगी गई है। उन्होंने बताया कि पीएचडी का दूसरा प्रोग्राम दिसंबर-जनवरी में होगा, जिसके लिए फिर से प्रवेश परीक्षा कराई जाएगी लेकिन पहले प्रोग्राम के लिए परीक्षा दे चुके अभ्यर्थियों के लिए पुराना स्कोर मान्य होगा। एक अभ्यर्थी को अधिकतम दो बार प्रवेश परीक्षा देने की छूट दी गई है। पीएचडी प्रोग्राम के लिए आईआईटी दिल्ली, रुड़की और कानपुर के अलावा विदेशी विश्वविद्यालयों की फैकल्टी का भी सहयोग मिलेगा।

In Addition, there are a number of Vocational courses, leading to employment in various sectors. The options available are discussed in detail in the list given below.
Engineering Stream: There is a common belief among the people that science is the most important subject, compared to humanities or even commerce. There is also a general feeling in our society that the best students opt for science. This is an assumption of most parents, students and teachers. In fact, brilliance and intelligence is not the exclusive preserve of science. If a student is interested in doing engineering courses, such as BE /B Tech in subjects like Computer Science (CS), Electronics and Communications (EC), Civil, Mechanical, Metallurgy, Electrical etc the option should be to appear for a common entrance test EAMCET, which enables a student to get a seat in any of the engineering colleges in the state, depending upon the performance in the test. Since, there are a good number of colleges, and quality education is being provided there, Engineering should be an obvious choice for any Intermediate students with MPC option. There are many other national-level admission tests for the meritorious students like IIT (Indian Institute of Technology), AIEEE, VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology) etc.

Medicine: The situation is not the same with the BiPC students as there are less number of medical colleges in the state. So, the competition is intense, particularly for the Medicine students. But, one fails to get seat in the Medicine, not everything is lost. There are many other avenues for the BiPC students as well like BSc, Bio-technology, B Pharmacy, BSc Agriclture Science, dairy science, Food and Nutrition etc.
Commerce: The world thrives on business. The more the economy grows more the options will be for the Commerce students. Apart form doing the degree level courses like B Com, leading to Master of Business Administration (MBA) or M Com, there are many other professional courses available for the Commerce students like CA, ICWA etc which helps them establish themselves in a short span of time. It may, therefore, be wise for the students to opt for a basic BCom degree with Computer as one of the combinations, as it is now a much-sought after course.
Arts/Humanities: Though not so popular among the students, humanities also offer many options after 10 + 2 other than the usual BA degree course. Except for courses in science and technology areas, they can take up many other courses such as travel & tourism, English literature, teaching, advertising, journalism, performing arts, business management, etc. Humanities is also the favourite choice of many students who sit for the civil service examinations.
In all the three streams, students can now opt for job-oriented vocational subjects at the first degree level available in selected colleges affiliated to many universities. Another recent development has been the diversification of courses, professional in nature, at the first-degree level itself, although the number of institutions offering such course is still small. International post graduate programmes of five-year duration after 10 + 2 in several subjects are being introduced by some universities
Whatever stream you may select, you should put in your best efforts, which would surely lead to you to a path of success. Obtaining high marks in the qualifying examinations will put you in a comparatively better position to get into a course of your choice after the 10 + 2 level.

Career Planning and Choice of Courses

Career planning is one of the most crucial factors in your life, which needs no emphasis. It is important at least for two reasons. First, whether you opt for a career in jobs or prefer to be on your own, you must appreciate that there is fierce competition for getting a space in the world of work. Remember the old adage, "Survival of the fittest". Second, in view of new developments primarily triggered off by the information technology (IT) and globalisation of the economy, there are now more options than ever before. You will have to look for these options. Remember also that these are days of specialisation.

When should you begin the career planning? The age that could be considered appropriate for making a start is the age of 14-15 years when you enter the Ninth Class under the 10 + 2 pattern of education. This is the formative age to shape your career. Much more important reason, however, is that it is after the 10 + 2 level that a wide variety of course options are available to choose from. This means that as the first step you will have to choose from the three streams viz., science, arts and humanities, and commerce and the appropriate combination of subjects, when you enter the 10+2 level. To a great extent, this choice would determine the course options available to you after the 10 + 2 level. For example, if you want to take up engineering degree course, you should not only join the science stream but should also opt for the combination comprising Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Before you enter the 10 + 2 stage, you may like to consider which syllabus provides wider options. As you are aware, there are three Secondary Boards viz., the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE) and the State Boards, each having its own syllabus. While the CBSE and ICSE syllabuses permit combining biology and mathematics, not all the State Boards provide similar opportunity. For example, the Andhra Pradesh Board for Intermediate Education (equivalent to Higher Secondary Board) does not. It limits your option, because at this stage itself you will have to decide whether you want to join the engineering college or medical and agricultural colleges. However, as the number of CBSE and ICSE affiliated schools in States is small, you may have to opt for the State Board syllabus.

Before you embark upon planning your career you may have to consider two issues:

1. Do you need an immediate job because of some adverse family circumstances?

2. Is your family financially sound enough to pay for your professional education?

If you need a job, say after you complete the secondary stage, but still want to pursue higher education, you may like to take up a suitable course through distance learning mode. There are now many options available. You can study according to your own pace and convenience. You can even study both the secondary (Class 10) and higher secondary (10 + 2) courses through the distance-learning mode. As regards the second issue, the stark reality is that it is becoming increasingly difficult for many middle class families to meet the spiralling cost of professional education. Scholarships, freeships and other financial supports are scarce. You may be aware that in professional colleges there are two categories of seats "free seats" and "payment seats".

Since the tuition fees for "free seats" are highly subsidised, you pay much less compared to those for "payment seats". Generally, "free seats" are allotted to students on the basis of the performance at the entrance tests. You will, therefore, have to strive very hard if you want to get a "free seat" in professional colleges. If your family is unable to bear the cost of "elite" professional courses, you may choose a professional course, which also promises a reasonably good career at an affordable cost. It is prudent to cut your coat according to the available cloth. However, the financial consideration alone need not determine this option. There are other good reasons too for seeking a career in these professions. This option should also be considered if you cannot get through entrance tests for professional courses. Career planning should be preceded by two steps:

1. Assess your strengths and weaknesses, likings, aptitudes and interests.

2. Gather as much information as possible about the various educational opportunities and choose one that conforms to your assessment.

Both are easier said than done. Therefore, it is necessary for schools establishing their own career and course information centres and provide guidance and counselling to their students. In the absence of such facilities in your school, try to collect information from different sources. Here is a note of caution. Never take the claims of flashy advertisements in newspapers and other media at their face value. More often than not, they are issued by fly-by-night operators to allure unsuspecting students. Ascertain the status of these institutions.

If you do not intend to pursue university education, you may opt, after the 10th class, for various Vocational Courses available in different areas. The most sought after ones of course are the polytechnic courses of three-year duration leading to diplomas in different branches of engineering and technology. The advantage of polytechnic courses is that in some branches a diploma holder can make a lateral entry into degree level engineering courses. A clear idea about the vocational courses, therefore, would be helpful in taking an appropriate decision.

As stated earlier, at the 10 + 2 level you have three options:

1. The Science Stream

2. The Arts/Humanities Stream and

3. The Commerce Stream.

In Addition, there is the Vocational Stream. The Subjects offered in these streams are given in the Annexure. One problem you may face while choosing the combination of subjects is that the desired one may not be available in many 10 + 2 level institutions (higher secondary schools and junior colleges) Particularly in rural areas. A brief account of each of the streams follows:

Science

If you wish to take up medicine, dentistry, agricultural science, dairy science or biological sciences (biochemistry, biotechnology), the combination should be biology, physics and chemistry (BiPC). It is true that the advantage of choosing science stream is that you can shift to the other two streams viz., humanities and commerce after 10 + 2. It also opens up the gateway to a large number of career and course options, even if you cannot make it to the most coveted courses in engineering, medicine or agriculture. In several universities, particularly in the South, besides the usual combinations, such subjects as microbiology, computer science can be chosen at the BSc level.

Apart form doing the degree level courses in science with the conventional combinations you can also choose degree courses in several emerging professional areas, such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, computer, business administration, hotel management, tourism management. You can also opt for courses outside the university stream, such as hotel management, fashion technology, industrial design, packaging, aircraft maintenance engineering, government accredited computer courses and a host of post 10 + 2 level vocational courses. However, if you are very clear that science is not your cup of tea, there is no point in wasting two precious years simply because it keeps many options open. It would rather be desirable to explore the opportunities the other fields offer.

Arts/Humanities

It is not widely appreciated that humanities also offer many options after 10 + 2 other than the usual BA degree course. Except for courses in science and technology areas, they can take up many other courses such as travel & tourism, advertising, journalism, performing arts, business management, etc. Humanities is also the favourite choice of many students who sit for the civil service examinations.

Commerce

Next to science, commerce stream opens up a variety of options after 10 + 2 stage. Some examples are: company secretary-ship, chartered accountancy, cost accountancy, business management, computer. Although chartered accountancy, cost accountancy or company secretary-ship course can be taken up after 10 + 2 (after successfully completing the Foundation Courses) you should be aware that each year only a small percentage of those who take the examinations get through. It may, therefore, be wise to obtain the basic BCom degree first. BCom with Computer as one of the combinations is now a much sought after course

अब दाखिले के ज्यादा मौके, इंजीनियरिंग की 5000 सीटें बढ़ीं

इस साल बीटेक के अच्छे कॉलेजों में दाखिले के ज्यादा मौके मिलेंगे। महामाया टेक्निकल यूनिवर्सिटी (एमटीयू) से संबद्ध पश्चिमी उत्तर प्रदेश के इंजीनियरिंग कॉलेजों में नए सत्र 2012-13 से बीटेक की लगभग 5000 सीटें बढ़ गई हैं।

ऑल इंडिया काउंसिल फॉर टेक्निकल एजूकेशन (एआईसीटीई) ने कॉलेजों को सीटें बढ़ाने की अनुमति दे दी है। एआईसीटीई ने इस साल बीटेक की सीटें बढ़ाने में लचीलापन अपनाया है। आवेदन करने वाले अधिकांश संस्थानों को इजाजत मिल गई है। एआईसीटीई ने विभिन्न पाठ्यक्रमों में सीटें बढ़ने के अनुमति पत्र संस्थानों को भेज दिए हैं।

आदेश मिलने के बाद कॉलेजों ने एमटीयू में मान्यता के लिए आवेदन करना शुरू कर दिया है। विवि ने 25 मई तक बढ़ी सीटों की मान्यता हासिल करने का समय दिया है। अभी तक एमटीयू में लगभग 23 कॉलेजों ने अपने आवेदन दाखिल किए हैं। विश्वविद्यालय के मुताबिक लगभग 70 इंजीनियरिंग कॉलेजों में सीटें बढ़ गई हैं।

इंजीनियरिंग की सीट बढ़ोतरी तमाम बड़े कॉलेजों में हुई है। इससे छात्रों को अच्छी रैंक वाले कॉलेजों में दाखिले के ज्यादा मौके मिलेंगे। इसका नुकसान नए कॉलेजों को प्रत्यक्ष और अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से होगा। उधर, इंजीनियरिंग के अलावा एमबीए, एमसीए और बीआर्क की सीटों में भी इजाफा हुआ है।

दूसरी ओर दो दर्जन से ज्यादा नए संस्थानों को भी एआईसीटीई से मान्यता मिल गई है। नए सत्र से लगभग 27 कॉलेजों ने इंजीनियरिंग की अलग-अलग ब्रांच बंद करने का प्रस्ताव विश्वविद्यालय को दिया है।

सीटें खाली, बढ़ोतरी जारी
टेक्निकल यूनिवर्सिटी में हर साल इंजीनियरिंग की 40 फीसदी सीटें खाली बच रही हैं। एआईसीटीई सीट बढ़ाने की अनुमति दे रहा है। ऐसा औसत और बेहतर प्रदर्शन करने वाले संस्थानों के लिए हो रहा है। इसकी वजह से पिछले दो सालों में खुले कॉलेजों को नुकसान होगा।

कॉलेज और सीटें
एमटीयू में 2010 में 387 कॉलेज थे, पिछले साल 21 नए संस्थानों को मान्यता मिली और कॉलेजों की संख्या 408 पहुंच गई। इस साल भी दो दर्जन नए कॉलेजों को मान्यता मिलेगी जबकि 8 बंद होंगे। विवि में पिछले साल इंजीनियरिंग की 60 हजार सीटें थी, जिनकी संख्या इस बार 65 हजार पहुंच जाएगी।

मैनेजमेंट कोटा खत्म होने का लाभ
मैनेजमेंट कोटा खत्म होने से भी छात्रों को बड़े संस्थानों में दाखिले के लिए ज्यादा सीटें मिलेंगी। एमटीयू के टॉप कॉलेजों में लगभग 2000 सीटों पर सीधे लाभ मिलेगा। मैनेजमेंट कोटे की ये सीटें एसईई में शामिल होने से मेधावी छात्रों को फायदा होगा। इसका नुकसान नए कॉलेजों को होगा।

GBTU/MMTU/UPTU COUNSELLING UPSEE 2011

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS & PROCEDURE....

Verification of original documents would be done before start of counselling at the centres, Indicated on website www.mtu.ac.in & www.uptu.ac.in. The purpose would be to verify all relivent and essential certificates and documents of, qualifying examination, eligibility, category/ reservation certificate and weightage etc. of the candidate. He/she is required to come with all original certificates & documents along with a photocopy of each for submission. No candidate will be considered for admission if he/she does not show the original documents at the verification centre. The originals certificates & documents will be returned to candidates after verification.
On-line counselling will be conducted for admission to all courses and categories for the acadmic session 2011-12. Qualified and eligible candidate can fill his/her choice of course, institute, branch as per the directions and procedure of counselling detailed on website www.mtu.ac.in and www.uptu.ac.in through internet from his place of choice or at indicated counselling centres located in different cities of Uttar Pradesh. The information about counselling schedule, procedure etc., will also be available on the above websites.
Counselling shall be carried out for the qualified and eligible candidate of UPSEE- 2011based on their Combined Rank, even if they belong to reserved category. Advantage of their reserved category rank shall be provided at the time of allotment of seats depending upon their eligibility.
Allotment of the seats (institute, course and branch) will be made on-line as per the schedule indicated on websites after the candidate has locked his/her choice as per availability based on his/her merit in UPSEE- 2011
Counselling letter of eligible candidate will be available on the websites before the start of the document verification.
In case the candidates do not submit the proper category/ reservation certificate in the prescribed proforma at the time of document verification the advantage of reserved category shall not be provided and they will be treated in General Category. If the candidate has passed qualifying examination from outside of U.P., he/she has to bring the domicile certificate of his/her parents (Father OR Mother only). The candidate must note that his/her domicile certificate in place of his/her parentâ€™s certificate, is not acceptable and no request shall be entertained for relaxation.
The candidate called for counselling has to deposit Rs. 500/- as counselling fee and Rs. 5000/- as initial fee at the time of document verification. The counselling fee is non-refundable.
The fee of Rs. 5,500/- should be deposited at any of the nearest CBS branch of State Bank of India (SBI), Punjab National Bank (PNB), or Bank of Baroda (BOB). The initial fee is adjustable against total fee payable at institution if candidate takes admission at allotted institute/university. In some cases, the initial fee may be refunded as per conditions laid down in clause-16.2. The initial fee of Rs. 5,000/- will be forfeited if the candidate does not take admission in allotted institution. Requests for return of this fee in such cases will not be entertained.
After allotment of seat, the candidate should take printout of his/her allotment letter and deposit chalan so that he can deposit the required amount as indicated on the chalan (Rs. 10000 for General and OBC Category and Rs. 4000 for SC&ST category Candidates) in any of the indicated CBS branched of SBI, BOB and PNB and report with the letter and copy of the deposited chalan endorsed by the bank to the institute for taking admission on or before the last date indicated in the allotment letter, failing which the allotted seat will automatically be cancelled. This part of college/institute fee (Rs. 10,000/Rs. 4,000) is adjustable against total fee payable at institution if candidate takes admission at allotted institute/university. This amount (Rs. 10,000/Rs. 4,000) will be forfeited if the candidate does not take admission in allotted institution and requests for return of this fee in such case will not be entertained.
If a candidate wishes to participate in counselling for more than one course, he/she has to deposite the counselling fee of Rs. 500/- only, provided he/she has deposited the fee as per clause-15.9.
Special drive for re-counselling will be conducted for filling the vacant seats of reserve categories. The detailed procedure for re-counselling of special drive shall be displayed on the websites at the time of counselling. During the special drive for re-counselling, fee will be collected in the following manner:
1. Rs. 5000/- as initial fee and Rs. 500/- as re-counselling fee from those who have not been allotted any seat in earlier counselling or not participated in earlier counselling or seat is cancelled in earlier counselling as per clause 15.9.
2. Rs. 500/- only as re-counselling fee from those who would like to shift to other choice.
All the above of fees can be deposited in the CBS Branches of any of the above banks (SBI, PNB, BOB)
Based on merit in UPSEE- 2011 the counselling will be conducted on-line through internet in two phases. In Phase-I, which will be mock couselling, the candidates should exercise their choices from any place of their convenience through internet to get an idea about indicative choice allotment.
In Phase-II which will be also on-line, the eligible candidates will be required to lock their choices and get their final allotment and download the letter.
For details of counselling schedule, candidates should visit the websites after declaration of result and notification for the same will also be issued in the national dailies.
All the latest instructions of AICTE, UP Govt. and MTU upto the date(s) of counselling shall be applicable.
According to G.O. no. 2426/Solah-1-2009-13(128)/2009 dated 10-09-2009 the admissions will be given on 60 percent seats in undergraduate courses to Physically Handicapped candidates in Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology for handicapped, Kanpur and rest 40 percent seats for General candidates. The reservation policy of U.P. Govt. will be applicable on both types of seats. The above seats will be filled by the same couselling process as above
