Grippy — Robo Bionics’ product is a line of inexpensive prosthetics that are easy to use and also address some of the difficulties that amputees face with body-powered as well as externally powered prosthetics.

Incubated at IIT Patna, the startup is supported by the Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE), IIT Bombay, as well as the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), government of India.

तुझ्या मुलाला किती दिवसापासून अंगात ताप आहे? डॉ. लेस्ली घोन्सालवीसना दाखवलंस का? अंगावर नागिण निघाली आहे का? डॉ. लेस्लीकडे कधी जाणार? डॉ. लेस्लीकडे जायचे आहे पण माझा नंबर 150 वा आहे. मला मध्ये संधी मिळेल का? तुझी दवाखान्यात ओळख आहे का? होळीला जात आहे का? डॉ. लेस्लीकडे माझा नंबर काढशील? अशी वाक्ये आता ऐकायला मिळणार नाहीत. ह्याचे कारण तमाम वसईकरांच्या गळ्यातील ताईत, ज्यांच्या स्पर्शज्ञानाने अवघी वसई रोगमुक्त झाली, वसईचे आरोग्यदूत, आरोग्यदाता, तळागाळातील, पददलितांच्या आरोग्याचे कैवार घेऊन अगदी स्वस्तात वैद्यकिय सेवा करणारे, जनसामान्यांचे लाडके असे डॉ. लेस्ली घोन्सालवीस ह्यांचे दुर्धर आजाराने तामिळनाडूतील वेल्लोर येथे काल राञी 10.30 वाजता निधन झाले.

त्यांच्या जाण्याने अवघी वसई नगरी पोरकी झालेली आहे. जणू घरातील कर्ता पुरूष गमावल्याची भावना त्यांच्यात झाली आहे. त्यांचा स्वभाव शांत, कमालीची लोकप्रियता असूनदेखील चेह-यावर गर्वाचा अजिबात लवलेश नव्हता. ते अतिशय साधे होते. दिवसाला साधारणपणे 300 रोगी तपासत असत. एवढे रोगी तपासून सुध्दा उत्साह तोच असायचा. अचूक निदान करून अचूकऔषध देण्यामध्ये त्याचा हातखंडा होता. रामबाण औषध देण्याचे कसब त्यांना ब-यापैकी अवगत होते. रोग्याला मुमबईला नेण्याआधी डॉक्टर लेस्लींचा योग्य सल्ला घेण्याचा जणू पायंडा पडलेला होता. रोग्यांबरोबरचे त्यांचे संबंध जिव्हाळ्याचे होते. त्यांचा स्वभाव थोडासा विनोदी होता. त्यांच्याकडे गेल्यावर पहिला प्रश्न कोपात काल काय खालतं शिवणी खालती का?

औषध दिल्यानंतर परत याव नाका असे वाडवली बोलीभाषेत ते सुचवायचे. एकदा औषध दिल्यानंतर सहसा परत बोलावत नसत. आजच्या युगात वैद्यकिय सेवा महागडी झाली आहे. डॉकिटरकडे जायचे म्हटल्यावर हुडहूडी भरते. अशावेळेला डॉक्टर लेस्लीसारखे देवमाणसं भेटतात जे रुग्णाला मदतीचा हात देऊन रोगमुक्त करतात. डॉ. लेस्ली ह्यांची जगण्याची आशा तीव्र होती.

प्रार्थना सभेमध्ये ते सक्रिय होते. आजारपणातून ते बरे व्हावेत म्हणून प्रार्थना व्हायच्या. शेवटी नियतीपुढे कोणाचेही काहीही चालत नाही हेच कटूसत्य आहे. ज्याने अनेकांना नवसंजीवनी दिली, ज्याने अनेकांना जगण्याची उमेद जागवली त्यालाच मृत्यूने अखेर गाठलेच. असा हा सच्च्या मनाचा अवलिया आपणा सर्वांचा निरोप घेऊन अनंताच्या प्रवासाला निघाला परत कधीही न येण्यासाठीच. जो आवडे सर्वांना तोचि आवडे देवाला. ह्या भूतलावर डॉक्टरांनी फक्त प्रेम आणि प्रेमच पेरलेले आहे. अशा महान विभूतीला कोटी कोटी प्रणाम. तथास्तु. हे परमेश्वरा, आमच्या लाडक्या लेस्ली डॉक्टरांना तुझ्या शाश्वत नंदनवनात तू समाविष्ट कर. तथास्तु.

The project plan received a boost when Union railway minister Piyush Goyal on August 23 announced exploring the feasibility of a new main line terminal at Vasai Road.

In order to reduce the load of outstation trains handled by the Bandra and Mumbai Central terminus’s, the Western Railway (WR) is planning a new terminus at Vasai Road.

The terminus, which is set to come up by 2023, will also ease the present bottleneck at Vasai Road station. The project was necessitated as the city’s rail network, which operates nearly 200 outstation trains and 3,000 local train services daily has reached its saturation point — the brunt of which is borne by WR and Central Railway (CR). WR had first proposed the construction of a terminus at Vasai Road in 2013, the plan for which didn’t materialise. The project was again proposed in 2017. The project plan received a boost when Union railway minister Piyush Goyal on August 23 announced exploring the feasibility of a new main line terminal at Vasai Road.

Of the 103 outstation trains handled by WR in the city daily, 43 trains originate from Mumbai Central and Bandra Terminus, all of which cross Vasai Road. Apart from this, 60 trains are interchanged at Vasai Road. These include trains heading to and from north India, trains coming to or from CR and Main Line Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) passenger trains from Panvel. Moreover, engine of outstation trains of CR are changed here along with the entire staff, which takes 50 minutes. Apart from this, 40 goods trains are handled daily. All of this creates a bottleneck at the station and restricts WR from increasing frequency of suburban trains, thus necessitating the need for a terminus.

The new terminus is set to have four platforms, three stabling lines for outstation trains, a new terminus building. Premium trains, including a new proposed Rajdhani Express and 20 other passenger trains will originate and terminate at the terminus.

ग्राहकांना अखंड वीज पुरवठा देण्यास बांधील असनाऱ्या महावितरणने वसई तालुक्यातील वीज यंत्रणा अद्यावत करण्याच्या दृष्टीने विविध कामे हातात घेतली आहेत. नुकत्याच पार पडलेल्या एका बैठकीत कंत्राटदारांना ही कामे पुढील तीन महिन्यात पूर्ण करण्याचे सक्त आदेश कल्याण परिमंडलाचे मुख्य अभियंता रफिक शेख यांनी दिले आहेत. सध्या अस्तित्वात असलेल्या यंत्रणेवर वाढत्या ग्राहक संख्येमुळे बऱ्याच वेळा ताण येऊन यंत्रणेत बिघाड होतो. यामुळे ग्राहकांच्या वीज पुरवठ्यात व्यत्यय येतो तसेच महावितरणचेही आर्थिक नुकसान होते. या बाबी लक्षात घेऊन कल्याण परिमंडलाचे नवनियुक्त मुख्य अभियंता रफिक शेख यांनी वसई करता तीन महिन्याचा अॅक्शन प्लान तयार केला आहे. याकरता दिन दयाल उपाध्याय ग्राम ज्योती योजना(डीडीयुजीजेवाय) व एकात्मिक ऊर्जा विकास प्रकल्प(आयपीडीएस) या योजनांमधून विविध कामे केली जाणार आहेत. या कामाचा लाभ वसई विभागातील सुमारे ३लाख ग्राहकांना होणार आहे.

कामन परिसर – सहा नवीन वीज वाहिण्या

महावितरणमार्फत कामन परिसरास विना व्यत्यय वीज पुरवठा करण्याच्या दृष्टीने पोमन स्विचिंग स्टेशन(ता.वसई) येथून नवीन सहा नवीन वीज वाहिन्या टाकण्यात येणार आहेत. या सहा नवीन वीज वाहिन्याद्वारे कामन परिसरातील एकूण चार वेगवेगळ्या भागात वीज पुरवठा करण्यात येणार आहे. हे काम दिन दयाल उपाध्याय ग्राम ज्योती योजने अंतर्गत करण्यात येणार आहे. सध्या कामन परिसराचा वीज पुरवठा कामन फिडर व बापाने फिडर यावरून होतो. कामन फिडरचा पुरवठा हा ५० किमी लांब असलेल्या अग्रवाल स्विचिंग स्टेशन मधून येतो. या स्विचिंग स्टेशनवर ३६०अॅम्पीयरचा भार आहे. तर बापाने फिडरचा पुरवठा हा ३५ किमी लांब असलेल्या जुचंद्रा स्विचिंग स्टेशन मधून येतो. या स्विचिंग स्टेशनवर १८०अॅम्पीयरचा भार आहे.

या कामाचा लाभ पोमन औद्योगिक वसाहत, कामन, कोल्ही, खिंडीपाडा, बापाने, चिंचोटी गाव, देवदल सागपाडा, आयेशा कंपाऊंड, पटेल इंडस्ट्रीयल इस्टेट, शिलोत्तर, नागळे, महाजनपाडा, डोंगरीपाडा, मोरी, पोमन, भेंडीपाडा, कामन रेल्वे स्टेशन, बेबीपाडा गाव इत्यादी परिसरास होणार आहे.

वसई गाव परिसर – सहा नवीन वीज वाहिण्या

वसई गाव परिसरास महावितरणच्या फिडर क्रमांक ३ व फिडर क्रमांक ६ वरून होतो. सध्या फिडर क्रमांक तीन व सहाला सुमारे पाच ते साडेपाच किमी. लांब असलेल्या वसई येथील महापारेषणच्या उपकेंद्रातून पुरवठा होतो. या केंद्रावर ४२० अॅम्पीयरचा भार आहे. महावितरणमार्फत वसई गाव परिसरास विना व्यत्यय वीज पुरवठा करण्याच्या दृष्टीने वसईगाव स्विचिंग स्टेशन(पारनाका)(ता.वसई) येथून नवीन सहा नवीन वीज वाहिन्या टाकण्यात येणार आहेत. हे काम एकात्मिक ऊर्जा विकास प्रकल्प(आयपीडीएस) या योजनेमधून केले जाणार आहे. या सहा केबल टाकल्यामुळे फिडर क्रमांक ३ व फिडर क्रमांक ६ वरील अतिरिक्त ताण कमी होणार आहे. याचबरोबर या सहा केबलचा फायदा वसई फिडरलाही होणार असून या फिडर वरील २४० अॅम्पीयरचा भार कमी होणार आहे.

या कामामुळे पापडी, सागरशेत, तामतलाव परिसर, रमेडी, भास्कर आळी, हत्तीमोहल्ला परिसर, पाचूबंदर, लांगीबंदर, किल्लाबंदर, कोळीवाडा परिसर, वसई कोर्ट परिसर आदी भागास विना व्यत्यय वीज पुरवठा देणे शक्य होणार आहे.

She had been twice invited to South Korea for Gwangju Biennale as a fellow to participate and in Asia Art Space Network Asia for Exhibition making and for public talk. And she will travel soon to London for a show in London Showroom in May.

The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has completed construction of the stations, which are expected to start functioning from May 1

The project is a year behind schedule, but 11 air quality monitoring stations across Mumbai and its suburbs will start functioning from May. The centres will provide real-time air updates to citizens about the quality of air in their localities.

The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) said it has completed construction of the air quality monitoring stations and they are expected to start functioning from May 1. Apart from Mumbai, six other real-time air quality monitoring stations will be inaugurated in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), with one each at Thane, Navi Mumbai and Dombivli. Vasai and Pune will get two continuous air quality monitoring stations of its own. MPCB is developing a smartphone application and display boards, which will provide real-time air quality updates to citizens.

“In all, 17 such stations will start functioning from May. Each of these stations will monitor PM2.5 — small pollutant particles that can easily enter the lungs and cause respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses — as the lead pollutant,” said P Anbalagan, member secretary, MPCB. “We wanted to inaugurate stations in Mumbai from April 1, but owing to some technical snags it has been delayed.”
