Mar 23, what is best for college bed a featherbed topper or memory foam topper?

This question is a hands down for memory foam.

A featherbed, while very comfortable when it's fluffed up, is in no way supportive of your back..

A featherbed topper will pack down and have to be fluffed up almost daily to be comfortable while a memory foam topper will be supportive and comfortable for years with no attention.

A good night's sleep is not only imperative to health, it's also what your brain needs to function sharply.

Memory foam provides optimum back support for the low back as well as promoting good circulation because of it's unique ability to spread your body pressure out over the surface of the memory foam.

A memory foam mattress topper will be a great investment in your college years for your education and your health.

Mar 22, What is the difference between foam and memory foam mattress ?

Do you know the major differences between a foam and memory foam mattress ?

I think that the reason memory foam has gotten a reputation for sleeping hot is from people's experiences with old fashioned foam.

Regular foam is closed cell foam, for the most part and the closed cells trap air as it heats up and doesn't release it.

This tends to produce a very hot, sweaty sleeping surface.

Visco elastic memory foam is, by nature, open celled which means that the air travels from cell to cell as you apply pressure to it.

This action allows the air to expel and be replaced by air from the room.

Replacing the air that's in these cells tends toward much cooler sleeping on a memory foam mattress than on a foam mattress.

Another major difference is the slow recovery feature of memory foam.

The greatest difference in the two is the ability of memory foam to soften under the places where your body heat affects it.

This is what makes memory foam so comfortable.

If you experience injuries, you'll definitely notice a softness under the injured member because injuries are normally accompanied by fevered heat.

This extra heat will cause the mattress material to soften even further under your injured body part.

There are other differences between a foam and <a href="http://www.memory-foam-mattress-store.com">memory foam mattress</a> but these are the major ones.

Mar 19, Can you use tempurpedic memory foam in a sleeper sofa?

If you've ever wondered if you can use memory foam in a sleeper sofa you'll want to pay close attention to this post.

Most sleeper sofas have a "mattress" in them that had to be invented by a torture expert.

I've never slept on a sofa bed that didn't feel like there was a metal pipe directly under my tail bone and back.

The thin nature of these mattresses doesn't provide much in the way of cushioning so you always seem to wake up with a horrible back ache after sleeping on one.

Although you can't place a memory foam mattress in a sleeper sofa, you can use memory foam in the form of a memory foam mattress topper.

The makeup of the sofa itself might dictate how thick a memory foam topper you could place into it and still be able to close it up for use as a sofa.

I think that most would accommodate a 3 inch thick topper and maybe even a 4 inch one.

Replacing the old "mattress" with a
new <a href="http://www.memoryfoamtopperstore.com">memory foam mattress topper</a> could solve most or all of your complaints with the poor quality of sleep you get on a sofa bed.

Mar 18, How do I choose a memory foam mattress?

Many people are somewhat confused when it comes time to choose a memory foam mattress.

One of the reasons is that there is so much hype and misinformation in the advertising media, including the internet.

There are 4 main things to know before you buy a memory foam mattress and that will help the odds a lot.

1. The country where the foam is poured

2. The density of the memory foam

3. The thickness of the actual memory foam

4. The sleeping habits and weight of the persons sleeping on it

If you consider these things, chances are pretty good that you'll have a great experience with your new memory foam mattress or memory foam mattress topper.

Not knowing any one of the four could turn your experience into a nightmare.

Let's just consider the first one here.

If your memory foam is poured in a foreign country, you may find that it stinks, sleeps hot and has lumpy spots in it.

This is because foreign countries don't regulate the ingredients that go into these mattresses and they can contain many, unknown ingredients.

These could make your mattress a toxic chemical dump.

U.S. manufacturers are closely regulated and, therefore, you won't find CFC's, Formaldehyde, PBDE's or other known harmful chemicals in their foam.

The foreign foams also contain clay or other chemical compounds that give it a false density rating.

Discover how density, thickness of memory foam, sleeping habits and your weight affect your buying decision for a <a href="http://www.memory-foam-mattress-store.com">memory foam mattress</a>.

Mar 16, Can I use an electric mattress pad on my memory foam mattress?

Many people sleep cold and wonder if they can use an electric mattress pad on their memory foam mattress to help them stay warm during the cold nights.

First of all, let's think about mattress pads, in general.

Memory foam is made most comfortable by the heat from your body affecting the temperature sensitive memory foam.

As that heat is absorbed into the memory foam, it softens and molds more comfortably to your body.

Anything you put between your body and the memory foam will lessen that effect.

This pad will absorb the heat that's supposed to make the memory foam softer.

Too thick a mattress pad could actually stop any of your body heat from reaching the memory foam at all.

Placing an electric mattress pad over your mattress or under a mattress topper, will cause the memory foam to soften but it can ruin the heat sensitivity over a period of time.

If you absolutely can't sleep without this, you should keep the electric mattress pad on the lowest settings.

You may want to check the warranty on your mattress or topper to make sure it won't void the warranty to use one.

Mar 15, Are memory foam mattresses comfortable?

Do you ever ask yourself "are memory foam mattresses comfortable?"

Of course, one of the ways someone might suggest is to go into a mattress store and lie on a few of them to see.

While this may seem to be a wise suggestion, you may find that lying on a memory foam mattress in a store isn't the same as lying on it in your home for a week or so.

One of the many tips I give people in my Free Report: "<a href="https://www.memory-foam-buyers-guide.org/Memory-Foam-5-Sins-Optin.html">The 5 Deadliest Sins</a> Most People Commit When Buying a Memory Foam Mattress and How to Avoid Them"	is never to buy a mattress that doesn't have some type of low risk sleep trial of at least 30 days.

Have you ever slept on a bed in a hotel or at a relatives home?

Did you ever wake up after the first night thinking that it was a pretty comfortable bed only to wake up the next morning with a back ache?

Many times in a hotel, the first night I don't notice anything. The second night there's a slight hint of aching in my back.

By the end of the third night I'm hurting so bad I want to sleep on the floor or go home.

Back to the mattress store. Do you think that laying on a mattress for 15 minutes is going to tell you if you'd like this mattress for the next 20 years?

We spend 1/3 of our lives lying on a mattress, take the proper steps to educate yourself and you'll enjoy that time to the max.

Do you sleep with a restless partner?

Or are YOU that restless partner?

Of the many benefits of a king size mattress probably the most often cited is having your "own space."

If that's important to you, you know that smaller mattresses just don't afford that luxury.

A standard king size mattress, often referred as an eastern king is 76" x 80".

This is equal to the size of two twin long mattresses sitting side by side.

One other concern would be to make sure your bedroom is of ample size to accomodate a <a href="http://www.memory-foam-mattress-store.com">memory foam mattress</a> king size.

Mar 12, Memory Foam Mattress...Which Side Goes Up?

When you receive your memory foam mattress, which side goes up?

We've all seen the memory foam mattresses which advertise "no flipping" ever.

This is wonderful news to those of us who always hated the thought of flipping our mattresses, even though it was only a couple of times a year.

Now, as good as this news is, some people still want to flip their mattresses in order to make them last longer.

This is noble and maybe seems to make sense but you must know that it's not just because about extending the life of your mattress...it's about comfort.

Memory foam mattresses are made up of layers of foam.

The top layer or layers are made up of memory foam and the bottom layers are made up of base foam.

The base foam is the support for the memory foam and is very firm.

It isn't made of memory foam and therefore, won't be comfortable.

It will be hard, sleep hot and make for a miserable sleeping experience.

For this reason, you should never flip a memory foam mattress.

If you must do something to satisfy your urge to prolong the life of your mattress, just rotate it.

That means to turn the head to the foot and then in six months, turn it again without flipping it over.

If you've checked out many of the tips I give to people you already know this.

The reasons given are that they don't want the topper to interfere with your fitted sheets, or some other lame excuse.

Really, it means that they can get one more topper out of a certain number of cuttings.

Now, before we go to deep into this, I need to explain that even if a topper is cut to the exact dimensions of a mattress, it could vary by about an inch either way once you've opened in your home.

Temperature and humidity will affect memory foam just like it does everything else.

When the foam is warmer, it will be larger and when it's cooler, it could measure a bit smaller.

This is normal and you shouldn't expect it not to be this way.

When your topper is cut 4 to 6 inches less than standard, there is no reason other than cost savings for the manufacturer.

For this reason, I always caution people to check the actual dimensions on the packaging.

Even if it is labeled Queen or King, it might show the actual dimensions to be quite a bit smaller.

Mar 9, What Happens When Memory Foam Freezes?

Most people would never have to worry about what happens when memory foam freezes, but for the few who might, I'll try to answer this question.

In colder climates a mattress might sit in an unheated warehouse or a truck long enough to freeze.

Depending on how the mattress was prepared for shipping this could be more of a problem for some than for others.

If the mattress was shipped unfolded and in a box, you probably would only have to unbox it and let it sit in a warm room for several hours until it thaws out.

If, however, the mattress was folded or compressed and rolled, you would want to unpack it as much as possible without trying to unfold or unroll it.

Once it has sat in a room long enough to thaw, you'd be ok to go ahead and unroll it and place it onto the bed for use.

Freezing won't hurt the memory foam unless you try to force it in some way.

In that case, you could actually crack or tear the memory foam.

That's what happens when memory foam freezes.

Many chiropractors, physicians and other medical people recommend memory foam for it's superior support qualities.

Spring mattresses don't give you anywhere near the back support you get with memory foam because the makeup of spring mattresses is a recipe for pressure points which cut off needed circulation.

The U.S. foam manufacturers are regulated quite tightly on what chemicals are allowed and more importantly what chemicals aren't allowed to go into your mattress.

Foreign foams, on the other hand, have little or no regulation and usually contain chemicals that are know to be harmful such as CFC's, PDBE's and Formaldehyde.

In addition to this, foreign manufacturers are known to put clay products into their formulas which gives them a higher (false) density reading.

This also destroys many of the benefits of the foam.

Your readers should know at least 4 or 5 basic things about memory foam before they buy one because there is a world of difference in the memory foam composition of different manufacturers.

There's no other material so ideally conceived for a great night of peaceful sleep than a good quality memory foam mattress.

Not only are they comfortable, they are healthy because of the way they can relieve pressure points that cut off circulation.

Hospitals that have tested memory foam mattresses have found that they greatly reduce or eliminate bed sores which are a huge health risk for people who've been bedridden for long periods of time.

So, even if you're not bedridden, doesn't it make sense to sleep on a material that promotes better circulation?

If you want comfort mixed with good circulation, choose a high quality <a href="http://www.memory-foam-mattress-store.com">memory foam mattress</a>.

To start with, your body is much less likely to experience the kinds of pain that are related to poor support during the night.

Traditional spring mattresses, air beds and water beds are not giving your body the support it needs, especially in the small of your back.

This lack of support leads to back pain in the night and when you wake.

Your days will be much brighter if you select a quality memory foam mattress.

More information on how to tell if your mattress is giving you proper support can be found on the introductory video at <a href="http://www.memory-foam-mattress-store.com">Memory Foam Mattress Store</a>.

If you have problems, for instance, with acid reflux, you might benefit by raising the upper part of the bed slightly to keep the acid down in your stomach during the night.

Some people have told me that their leg cramps were helped by raising the legs slightly.

My wife has low blood pressure problems and she raises the lower part of the bed to make it easier for heart to pump blood to her upper body.

It almost "gravity feeds" on it's own.

I ran across a good article that speaks about other health benefits.

Not the least of the benefits of a good <a href="http://www.memory-foam-mattress-store.com">memory foam mattress</a>, adjustable or not, is the way it prevents pressure points and so improves blood circulation.

I don't think anyone would deny that good blood circulation is vital to health.

There is a company who is now submitting their products for certification to show that they contain no harmful, toxic ingredients and that might be a step in the right direction.

I'm still not convinced and it may take some time and "wait and see" before many people will be willing to trust foreign foam manufacturers because there have been so many abuses in the past.

If you want to make sure your memory foam is pure and free from toxic chemicals and the addition of clay products to cheat on the density measurements, you need to stay with American made memory foam.

It helps keep jobs at home and also assures you that the foam has passed muster with all the regulatory agencies.

Since memory foam is such a popular and hot topic everyone is trying to jump on the bandwagon and add it to their mattresses and just about anything else you can imagine.

It now covers bicycle seats, couches, chairs, car seats, computer cases, and hundreds more things.

Adding memory foam to a spring mattress, air mattress or futon is a band aid that should only be applied as an after market attempt to make an uncomfortable sleep surface a bit more comfy.

Adding memory, foam at the factory, to any other kind of bed is sort of asinine.

Memory foam is meant to be set onto a surface that was designed for it in the first place.

A mattress has several layers of memory foam that are made to work in a synergistic way.

The mattress needs to be placed on a hard surface such as a foundation, platform bed or a slab of wood.

Memory foam is unique and should be cared for differently than you care for a spring or air mattress.

His comments are worth noting and you might want to check out my comment at the bottom of the page.

Air mattresses suck as far as I'm concerned and a lot of people agree with me on that.

The return rate on them is astronomical and I don't know how the company stays in business.

That may be one reason they added the memory foam layer to their mattresses to try and capitalize on the popularity of memory foam.

If you already own an air mattress, you probably love it or hate it. That seems to be the kinds of people I run across.

Unfortunately, many couples have the dilemma of one person loving it and the other person hating it.

If you'd like to try the best way I know of to correct a bad situation, you can check out a couple stories from real people who put a <a href="http://www.memoryfoamtopperstore.com">memory foam topper</a> onto their air mattresses.

Investing in a memory foam mattress can be quite confusing with all the slight of mouth that's out there these days.

One of the critical things you should determine is the density of the memory foam itself.

The problem with that is now foreign foam manufacturers are adding clay compounds to their memory foam mix in order to increase density.

The addition of this foreign material ruins the characteristics that make memory foam so appealing.

Insist on American <a href="http://www.memory-foam-mattress-store.com">memory foam mattresses</a> when you shop.

If you have a mattress that's completely worn out, like sagging in the middle by 4" or so, the chances of a memory foam mattress pad making much difference is small.

The ideal way to experience memory foam is to invest in a quality memory foam mattress.

The mattress is put together in such a way as to maximize the effect of the foam.

Buying a memory foam mattress topper and then thinking it will be a cure all for any mattress just won't cut it.

First of all memory foam is made to work best when placed on a solid, flat surface.

A worn out mattress doesn't meet that qualification. You may get some benefit but you're short changing your overall health and cheating yourself out of the rest you need.

I've seen lots of articles that are just plain nonsense. They were written by a robot of some kind and don't evan make any sense.

Hey, before I get started, I just wanted to congratulate the Saints and the Colts for giving us a very entertaining and memorable Super Bowl.

Wow, it was really a fun game to watch!

We kicked back on our adjustable memory foam bed and snacked a bit too much.

Anyway, the idea of memory foam pad or memory foam mattress topper has been around for a while and may people have chosen to try them on top of an uncomfortable mattress to see if they'd deliver a better night's sleep.

I've always said that people should buy a topper only to see if they like memory foam and not to expect the topper to deliver the same experience as a memory foam mattress.

First of all, memory foam is made to be on a flat or nearly flat surface.

A worn out mattress doesn't qualify as a flat surface so the better shape the mattress is in, the more a memory foam pad will help.

Don't rule out a lesser priced memory foam mattress when considering this because most toppers are low in density and won't perform like a 4 lb. <a href="http://foam-mattress-store.com/">memory foam mattress</a>.

The difference in investment may be just nominal enough that you'll decide to go with the mattress instead.

Getting ready to join some friends at the Hyatt to watch the Super Bowl, cheering for the Saints.

It's almost suicide to bet against Peyton Manning though, we realize that... anyway, on to the mattress discussion.

What is a suitable mattress?

I guess it depends on what you're looking to gain with the mattress.

If you're thinking of relief from pain or a soft plush sink to the bottom mattress you have to decide which one will give you the nearest to perfect experience and what you're willing to invest to achieve that.

Memory foam mattresses have proven over and over to be the mattress of choice by back pain sufferers because of their ability to combine support with plush comfort.

Many people think that back support comes from firmness.

In other words, the firmer the mattress, the better the support and therefore the better for your back.

This is dis-proven in a article I recently put on my website, if you'd care to look.

It's titled <a href="https://www.memory-foam-buyers-guide.org/back-pain-mattress.html">Back Pain Mattress.

Feb 5, Memory Foam Mattress Giveaway

What do you think of "giveaways?"

Most of the time I think of someone who's trying to get something from me with an offer of "giving" me something, how about you?

I offer a free report about The 5 Deadliest Sins Most People Commit When Buying a <a href="https://www.memory-foam-buyers-guide.org">Memory Foam Mattress</a> and How to Avoid Them.

Now, even though it's free, you do need to give me your first name and email address...so is it really free?

The reason I want your first name and email address is so that I can keep in touch with you.

I happen to think that the products I offer to my readers are of exceptional quality for the investment required and so I want a chance to convince you that you should try them.

Is that wrong?

I'd love to hear from you if you think it is good business or if you'd be offended by this practice.

If I really have something good that I really believe in, shouldn't I want to share it with you?

If you don't buy from me, and you end up getting scammed, is that better?

Let me know what you think.

I only heard about this mattress giveaway today and don't know the details, but you can check it out at the link below.

Feb 4, Benefits of Memory Foam Mattresses vs. A Coil Spring Mattress

The idea of sleeping on springs must have been born out of a frustrated person who wanted to torture people but knew it was illegal.

So, the next best thing for him was to come up with the coil spring mattress.

When you lie down on coils, you're body and the springs immediately go into a pi**ing contest.

Your body is pushing down on the springs and the springs are saying "oh, no you don't" and pushing back for all they're worth.

You meet in the middle.

Now, picture in your mind, the hand above the memory foam mattress.

The hand print is still there even though the hand has been lifted off of it...the foam wasn't pushing up against your body.

It was, in fact, melting out of the way as your body pushed down on it, right?

That's the basic difference in coils vs. memory foam.

One's fighting you and the other is co-operating with you.

Which do you suppose makes for a better night's sleep?

Feb 3, Should You Allow Your Pets to Sleep With You in Bed?

Life has a funny way of weaving it's web.

Yesterday, I got a call from a lady who sleeps on a Select Comfort bed and she hates it.

We wound up ordering her a <a href="http://www.memoryfoamtopperstore.com">memory foam topper</a> for the bed since this solution has worked so well for so many other of my air mattress hating customers.

In the process of our chat she mentioned that she had just bought two memory foam beds for her dogs.

Interesting! She said that the guy she had ordered from was both friendly and very knowledgeable about memory foam which struck a chord with me.

I got the information from her and, after we had hung up, I proceeded to call Woody at <a href="http://www.bigdogbeds.com">Big Dog Beds</a>.

Well, she was right, Woody is an expert on memory foam and also on making memory foam pet beds and furniture.

You really should check out his website, it's got some cool stuff.

Well, now today I open one of my rss feeds and see an article titled "Who's Bed is it Anyway?"

I open the article only to find that it's about the issue of allowing your pets to sleep in bed with you.

That's just too much to be a coincidence, don't you think?

It's a great article by Dr. Michael Breus, MD and sleep expert. I think you'll enjoy it.

Feb 2, Do Memory Foam Mattresses Sleep Hot?

This is the most common question I get from people who want to buy a memory foam mattress.

It's also the most common misconception about good quality memory foam.

I've had many people tell me that they sleep hot and don't want to add to that by sleeping on memory foam.

People have told me that since I offer a 90 day sleep test, they would give it a try but if it slept hot they would send it right back for a refund.

Now, understand that these people live from hot dry climates, like Arizona and New Mexico to some of the most humid like Texas Gulf and Florida.

To this date, I've never had anyone even mention them sleeping hot, much less want to return it.

If you stay with high quality American foam, you won't have any problems with heat or the smell I hear so much about.

That stuff is associated with poor quality memory foam from China or elsewhere overseas.
