For the first time in six years, U.K. genre-agnostics Loathe are releasing a brand new, full-length studio effort titled A Stranger To You. Set to release on July 17, the album’s first single “Revenant” is streaming right now.

Described as “perhaps their heaviest song to date”, the new single “Revenant” is aptly named. It only hangs around for a few minutes, hits hard, and then vanishes as fast as it came. Seriously, this thing goes hard in the paint for the kind of thick sounds and rabid fury you’d expect from a band like Loathe.

Though you’ll have to wait a couple months for the release of A Stranger To You, you can make sure you get yourself a copy by preordering one for yourself today.

With their new album Projections coming out on May 29, British doom metal outfit Godthrymm shared a new single, titled “The Sun Never Fell”.

The new album is being positioned as the finale to the band’s Visions trilogy, which started back with the release of 2020’s Reflections and was followed up by 2023’s Distortions. Of course, the band’s penchant for doom metal stems from the fact that frontman Hamish Glencross and Shaun Taylor-Steels are former My Dying Bride members.

Speaking of Glencross, he said the new track serves as a reminder of the band’s ability to write huge, plodding doom metal.

“We present ‘The Sun Never Fell’ as our second single from Projections, as it showcases the more grandiose epic sound of the band full of vocal harmonies, layer upon layer of instrumentation and massive riffs. The song strives to shine light through crushing darkness, with hope leading out of despair.”

Projections will be released on May 29 via Profound Lore Records, but you can preorder your copy today.

The men and women of Jackass have done some insanely dumb things. Countless things involving butts and balls and bears (the animal kind) that result in bodily harm for people’s enjoyment have made up the Jackass formula for decades. But in the team’s new and potentially final movie Jackass: Best and Last, they’re leaping into the future, one robot prostate exam at a time.

That’s the hook involved in the latest trailer for the new Jackass movie — a robot dressed in a doctor’s coat saying “let’s let it rip, baby” just before getting one of its cold metal digits crammed in Steve-O’s balloon knot. People also wear a shock collar and get involved in what’s called an “escape room from Hell” that keeps ratcheting up in the trailer.

Truth be told, the whole movie’s sort of heartfelt in a weird way. It features footage from all of the Jackass films, featuring current and former members, including the likes of the late Ryan Dunn and sort-of estranged member Bam Margera. If you’ve followed their shenanigans for a while, you might feel nostalgic for the days when Jackass was new and you and your friends would recreate some of the stunts in the woods behind your town’s Kroegers, even though there are specific warnings against doing that shit.

Jackass: Best and Last will hit theaters on June 26.

Bright Monday mornings don’t exactly evoke the spooky and macabre, but that changes in an instant whenever cult rock outfit Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats put out new music. And this morning, they released a new single titled “Don’t Let It Control You.”

Teased as a “blood-soaked taster from their forthcoming studio album,” this new release is just under four minutes of fuzz-laden psycho rock. It’s got all the trappings of an Uncle Acid tune, including the almost lo-fi production and a dab of ’70s grit thrown into the mix. It’s the kind of song that can easily embed itself into your head like an icepick in Leon Trotsky’s skull.

Though the band mentioned a new album, there are no new details about that bad boy included with this track’s release. Just the fact that it’s coming soon.

“Don’t Let It Control You” will be released as a single on 7″ vinyl — the first time the band’s doing that since they put out Pusher Man back in 2016. If you’d like to make sure you get your hands on one of those, preorders are now open.

Over the weekend, Korn headlined the first night of Sick New World in Las Vegas. It was the culmination of a huge day of music and entertainment, but it also served as a chance to fans to catch the iconic nu metal band playing some classics and some newer tunes throughout the night. But about half way through their set, they broke out something new they released just last Thursday — “Reward The Scars.”

You may recall that few days ago Korn dropped the aforementioned brand new track in conjunction with the impending release of Blizzard’s Diablo IV: Lord Of Hatred expansion. It’s their first new song since they put out 2022’s Requiem.

During their set, frontman Jonathan Davis addressed the crowd before launching into the new track:

“We’ve been out touring and shit a little bit, but we’ve been stuck in the fucking studio for, like, five years. We’ve been working hard, we had some good shit, we got rid of that, and we made some badass shit! Would you guys like to hear that song? Do you want to hear some new Korn shit?!”

Looking at their setlist, it seems like if you were a fan of Korn, you got one hell of a show. Featuring songs from all four of their first albums, as well as A Look In The Mirror and others, they also performed “Proud” for the first time since 2011. It was also the first time playing that song with guitarist Brian “Head” Welch in the fold since 1999.

This past Friday was a dream that so many of us probably wish we could’ve experienced in real time. The lucky sons-o’-bitches who were at Queens of the Stone Age‘s set on April 24 at the Joshua Tree Retreat center in Joshua Tree, CA got a fucking treat, because they brought out Nick Oliveri on stage. Yes! That Nick Oliveri: their former bassist and vocalist who joined the band in 1998 and rocked with the for six years. Watch some fan-filmed footage below.

There was a bit of drama surrounding why he left QOTSA though—he played naked on stage in Brazil and got arrested for it, along with doing some other concerning things. The band kicked him out for it, understandably.

Despite all that hubbub and turmoil, Oliveri and QOTSA did continue to work together in certain ways. They collaborated on QOTSA’s 2013 album …Like Clockwork, which then led to them taking Oliveri’s band at the time, Uncontrollable, on the …Like Clockwork tour with them.

Damn, Derrick, we see you! Derrick Green, that is—the vocalist of Sepultura. As if he hasn’t been busy enough on the band’s farewell tour, he’s also been working behind the scenes, scheming and plotting on what he’s going to do once the band wraps up. Apparently, he’s got a whole new band in the works.

Green sat down for a new interview with Heavy Matters where he spoke about his plans, post farewell tour:

“I will continue doing music. I definitely would love to do another band. And I’m putting that together as we speak.

“Trying to align with certain people, it’s like starting from scratch, well, not necessarily from scratch, but it’s definitely a challenge to form that connection with people again, different people. After being with a band for so long — I’ve been especially with Andreas and Paulo for so many years, since like 1998, so it’s interesting to think back and then now be where we’re at, where it’s just, like, ‘Okay, I’ll try to find other people to jam with.’ It’s exciting, I have to say.”

Green then went a little more in depth about what he feels the potential is for the new project, saying:

“I was able to learn so much and take away so much being with Sepultura, and I will use different elements from that. Then, the hardcore, of course, it’s always flowing in my blood. And then also a lot of melodical-type stuff I was doing. I felt that I’ve grown and evolved in being able to do that. So I wanna have a mix of that, and for sure have a heavy groove on whatever it is I’m gonna do in the future. So I’m looking forward to really combining all those different elements.”

Good for you, Derrick. A true artist never stops, or whatever that saying is (that is a saying, right?). Sepultura is currently finishing the North American leg of their final tour cycle, currently with Exodus, Biohazard, and Tribal Gaze in tow. They’ll be starting the European leg in June.

I think we all kinda saw this one coming, so it’s nice to have it basically confirmed. Godsmack frontman Sully Erna appeared on one of everyone’s favorite radio shows, SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation with Eddie Trunk, on April 23, where he was asked about whether the band’s latest album Lighting Up the Sky will be their last. Since, let’s not forget, that both And, based on the title of this article, I imagine you’ve surmised what his answer was.

Erna said, as transcribed by Blabbermouth.net:

“I think some press misunderstood that. What I had said was, if I remember correctly — I don’t know; maybe I was a little foggy at the time — but I just said that I was pretty sure that this would be the last full body of work from Godsmack, from the original members, that we wouldn’t be able to do this anymore because these guys [guitarist Tony Rombola and drummer Shannon Larkin] were gonna kind of take their final curtain call and bow out. And I knew that this was most likely gonna be the last full body of work from the original members. But now here we are. Me and [bassist] Robbie [Merrill] had a long talk. We were, like, ‘Well.’ We had a decision to make, and we said, ‘Well, we’ve still got some gas in the tank here. I don’t really wanna hang it up yet.’ And he’s, like, ‘Let’s go around.’ And so we brought in these new guys, and it’s sounding great. So we’re, like, yeah, there’s probably gonna be some new music coming. I mean, it may not hit the streets till early ’27, but we’re gonna do something, for sure. But it just won’t be with all the original members anymore.”

Now that he’s cleared that up, he was also asked about the band’s latest additions: guitarist Sam Koltun and drummer Wade Murff, who came in to replace OG guitarist Tony Rombola and drummer Shannon Larkin after they announced their retirement last year.

“Sam’s on board now full-time, and he’s gonna be the new player from this point forward. And the drummer that we chose, his name is Wade Murff. He’s worked with Daughtry and some other acts. A fairly under-the-radar kind of guy. A strong player. A great dude. Really good with attention to details, as Sam is.

“I have complete confidence in this, although we start rehearsals next week. I’m just really confident that this is gonna be just as good, if not better than ever, because these guys came in with the right attitude. They honored the catalog, they honored the playing. They didn’t try to reinvent it. And as you know, a guitar can sound like a guitar, a drum can sound like a drum. Until you replace the vocalist, that’s when the sound really changes. So I really feel that the fans will be able to come and enjoy the music as they have always known it, because it won’t sound foreign to them, like there’s a new singer singing Godsmack stuff. And plus their showmanship even elevates it a little bit more. I mean, Shannon’s hard to replace. He’s the GOAT [Greatest Of All Time]. If you see that dude play, he’s a tough cookie to replicate or replace live visually. But this guy, Wade, he’s strong. He’s got some great chops, and he’s really playing the stuff solid. I’m very happy to take them on tour and introduce them. And this is gonna start the next chapter in our life here, Godsmack 2.0.”

Honestly, Murff is a clutch score for the band. He’s apparently been playing drums since he was a wee lil 4-year-old lad, crediting John Bonham (Led Zeppelin) and Alex Van Halen as initial drumming inspiration, though Pantera’s Vinnie Paul and Slayer’s Dave Lombardo really fueled that fired for him. He’s got quite a bit on his resume too, having worked with Sebastian Bach, Doyle (Misfits), Orgy, and more.

Murff had this to say when he asked about his playing style:

“Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate technique and precision, but I love seeing drummers that hit hard and play with a lot of heart and physicality. Live, I always want to play on the edge between control and chaos; something could break at any moment, someone might get hurt… especially me. [Laughs] Seriously though, I’m committed to delivering that type of show every night, no excuses.”

It’s kind of weird to think of Godsmack transitioning into a band where the new-to-original ratio of the members favors the former, but I guess it happens to every band at some point.

If David Attenborough scored music documentaries the same way he does animal docs, I’d absolutely scream from excitement. That’s not happening in this case, but could you imagine? Anyway, Blood Incantation plan on releasing their documentary All Gates Open, with a soundtrack to boot.

The 73-minute juggernaut of a documentary score originally came as part of the deluxe edition of their latest album Absolute Elsewhere, while the actual footage itself documenting the writing and recording of it at the Hansa Tonstudio in Berlin, Germany.

Vocalist/guitarist Paul Riedl described this release a little more in depth:

“It’s not the next album or follow-up to Absolute Elsewhere, it’s the soundtrack to the documentary about making the album with songs that are from before. The documentary deserves to be experienced, not just as content for the internet. The soundtrack captures the very first seed of what led to Absolute Elsewhere. This is where that era started.”

All Gates Open (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) will release on June 5 via Century Media. The mixing and mastering was done by Arthur Rizk, with Jodie Day handling the artwork.

Another day, another creep to call out. Can Slam Dunk Festival founder Ben Ray please come to the front? You’ve got some explaining to do.

Yesterday, British actress and showgirl Jenny Miller blasted social media accusing Ray of sexual assault. She says the two were friends with a working relationship where she would sometimes dance for him with STRICT rules prohibiting touching, but that he broke those rules after doing some illicit substances.

Miller posted the following statement, along with a picture of Ray, on her Instagram and Facebook accounts:

“This man sexually assaulted me multiple times on separate occasions and raped me while I was passing out from the coke he provided me.

“I am in the process of pressing charges against him for all the trauma he gave me. He was my friend and I trusted him. He would pay me to dance for him coz he was stripper-obsessed and I was broke, but the rules are do not touch me ever. When I was passing out, begging him to stop and get off me, he pulled my knickers to the side and went down on me. I wasn’t strong enough to get him off of me.

“I would tell him repeated to get the fuck of me and he wouldn’t and then he would try harder.

“The man is vile. I told his wife, now ex-wife, what he did to me and what he was doing behind her back. She was doing IVF at the time to try and have his babies.

“I became close friends with him in the strip club because he was offering me a job to work for him as a stripper at his festival for rockstars in the VIP and he wanted to open his own strip club. He also knew a lot of my friends in bands so I trusted him, but he’s a predator and rapist and everyone should know.”

Along with those posts, Miller shared a screen shot of texts between the two where Ray said he has “no anger left” towards Miller after she told Ray’s wife about everything that happened.

At the time, Ray had not released a statement. Fast forward to now, where the Slam Dunk Festival themselves released a statement saying how “one of its directors” has stepped down from festival operations while he deals with the allegations. While Ray wasn’t identified by name, who the fuck else would it be considering it all.

The festival’s statement reads:

“We are aware of allegations published yesterday relating to one of our directors. We take these allegations seriously and understand that they may be distressing and hard to process for our community.

“Our Slam Dunk fans, staff, and artists are, as always, our top priority. While he strongly refutes these allegations, the director in question has agreed, in consultation with the board, to step down from Slam Dunk operations while this matter is ongoing.

“Slam Dunk remains committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all employees, partners and customers. Our values and culture are fundamental to how we operate, and we are committed to upholding them.

“It would be inappropriate for us to comment further on an ongoing legal matter.

“However, we promise transparency and honesty to our Slam Dunk community and will provide updates when it is appropriate to do so.”

Again, it sucks that every other dude seems to be on some creepy shit, but it sucks x2 how so many of them seem to be involved in music. Emo music, at that. Slam Dunk was like another Warped Tour with who they booked—everyone from Fall Out Boy to Paramore to Every time I Die. This year, the fest is taking place next month, with Knocked Loose, Good Charlotte, and Taking Back Sunday among the many set to perform.

I mean, it’s good the fest is still happening and all, but golly, let’s hope no more creeps emerge in between the sets.

Last week, attendees of this year’s Monsters of Rock Cruise boarded the Norwegian Joy and embarked on a trip from Miami to Grand Turk full of good times and great music. It was supposed to be a celebration of all things rock and metal on the high seas, but one dude apparently didn’t get the memo. For one dude, it was a chance to allegedly get belligerently drunk and throw a bitch fit at someone during an exclusive VIP party.

That one dude was ex-Skid Row and current Twisted Sister frontman Sebastian Bach. At least, that’s according to the first-person account shared earlier today by TuFF vocalist and Metal Sludge founder Stevie Rachelle.

In a post over on Metal Sludge, Rachelle claims the incident started on the final night of the cruise. A couple days prior, he’d been told by one of the cruise’s photographers that both Sebastian Bach and Stryper’s Michael Sweet had been talking about him and wanted to meet up in person. Now, Rachelle and Sweet are on good terms these days, he said he quickly learned where he stood with Bach — who he’d once been labelmates with back in the ’80s — during the Artists Only VIP Party.

Upon approaching the newly anointed Twisted Sister vocalist, Rachelle said he was immediately berated and accosted with all kinds of slurs. Oh and weirdly enough, an allegedly high amount of references to Bach’s dick.

“I kept my composure as he repeatedly called me a ‘fat homo’, and continued to ask me, ‘do you want to see more pictures of my cock’, he made sure to add, ‘your website sucks’ and also told me, ‘I’m going to have you kicked off this ship.’

“This went on and on, more insults followed but the ‘Fat Homo’ and asking me about his ‘Cock’ was repeated over and over… perhaps 6-8x… not sure what that all meant.

“I stayed calm, didn’t use any profanity and never even raised my voice… but, I made sure to stand right in front of him and stared at him similarly to the in-ring stare-down from Mike Tyson towards Peter McNeeley.

“I just watched him as he ranted and flailed all over… the same thing we’ve seen on YouTube videos when he throws a temper-tantrum. At some point security arrived and got in-between us, and separated us… of course once they were there, Bach‘s anger, and threatening words “let me at him” got louder and more aggressive.

“I stood there calm and offered the following: ‘I’m right here… come get me.’ Bach blurted out; ‘Fuck You, you Homo!’ again.”

Apparently, this was all in response to years of Metal Sludge covering Bach and his well-documented bad behavior. Rachelle contends that all of his coverage was “either A. 100% truth, or B. the opinion of those who have contributed” to the site.

While it’s understandable for a public figure to take issue with how they’re being portrayed in the media, it’s another thing to do so hurling homophobic slurs at people. Remember, this is the same guy that Rachelle points out was photographed in a 1990 issue of Metal Edge magazine wearing a shirt that read “AIDS: KILLS FAGS DEAD”. He said at a later date that he understood it was “not cool to make fun of death,” he followed that up by saying that he “[does] not know, condone, comprehend or understand homosexuality in any way, shape, form or size.”

So yeah, dude talks a lot about his dick to other men but it’s Rachelle who’s a “homo”. Strange.

According to Rachelle, security eventually had him removed at Bach’s request. That led him to be escorted out of the party, but his girlfriend was not thrown out with him. Still, when she went to go tell the other people she was chatting with that she had to leave, Bach allegedly began berating her. Here’s Rachelle’s recollection of what happened:

“Once I was outside the club, my girlfriend came to ask what happened as she was seated with her friends on the other side of the venue… I explained what went down and she went back to tell her friends she was leaving.

“Upon her re-entering the venue, Bach accosted her, got right in her face and berated her with insults: ‘F#@k you! You F#@king C#%t. You F#@king B!tch’ and more.

“My girlfriend was not with me for 1 second in that club, I was with other guys, and she was with her friends… not sure how he even knew she was my girlfriend, but regardless, he found her and went after her like only a coward would.”

If that’s true, that’s a massive L as the kids say, Baz. Huge bitch ass move. Real small pee-pee energy, bud.

Bach comes from a time when bad behavior by rock stars was anticipated and oftentimes celebrated. Those were the days when excessively teased out hair ruled the Strip, excessive alcohol and drug use was the norm, and women were nothing but sex objects that fueled countless songs of girls only being seventeen and whatnot. Hell, the “bad boy” persona basically made bands like Mötley Crüe, Poison, Guns N’ Roses, and the like.

Sadly some folks from that era seem to have never gotten the memo to reign it back in their advanced age. For them, the party never ended and unfortunately, it’s led to some super cringe-inducing moments on and off stage. Bach is allegedly one of those people, having found himself in the headlines for all the wrong reasons numerous times since his Skid Row days. At 58 years old, he just can’t help but keep acting out.

Rachelle ultimately closed out his statement/recollection/post by offering up a sort of olive branch to Bach. He suggests that the Canadian-born singer get treatment for his alcohol abuse while hoping that one day they could talk like grown-ups in the future. Rachelle is a bigger man than most, given the circumstances.

After reading what Rachelle allegedly experienced, I keep thinking one thing: Dee Snider is famously straight-edge. Up until recently, he’d never taken drugs, smoked cigarettes, or drank alcohol. The guys in Twisted Sister are used to that kind of leadership. What’s going to happen during their tour when Bach begins to have solo ragers and acts like a fucking moron on stage, screaming at women and being an all around dick? We’ve seen it before, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility.

Their first show in Italy should have been an entirely positive experience, but Ukrainian World War I-themed blackened death metal band 1914 ran into a problem with local police over money they collected during the tour.

According to a statement the band shared with fans, their visit to Italy went mostly without a hitch until they went to leave the country. During their travels, they were stopped by the country’s financial police and subjected to an inspection. What resulted was the immediate seizure of cash donations the band had been collecting throughout the run of dates to support the Ukrainian army.

Though the band says they made sure to keep the amounts within legal declaration limits as they pertain to each member, the fact that all the money was stored in a single box meant they were in violation of some law.

“We were carrying cash donations for the army – funds we collect during the tour. And this didn’t sit well with the officers, because the cash was kept together in one box. Even though we did not exceed the declaration limits per person and did not break any laws, the Italian Guardia di Finanza saw it differently and fined both us and the donation funds.”

The band said they tried to explain themselves to authorities, but their protestations fell on deaf ears, despite even going so far as to seek legal counsel. What resulted was a €4,800 fine issued by the Guardia di Finanza.

“We hope that the €4,800 taken from us by the Guardia di Finanza will help them continue their work confidently and feel satisfied. But i want you to know – your people completely f’cing wrong.”

Metalcore outfit August Burns Red have a new album titled Season of Surrender coming out this June and it’s with that in mind that they dropped their new single “Sonic Salvation”. The new track features Polaris vocalist Jamie Halls.

Clocking in at just over four minutes, guitarist JB Brubaker said the track was the very first he wrote for the new record.

“‘Sonic Salvation’ was the first song I wrote for Season of Surrender. I set out to write a song that created more space for Jake vocally and leaned a little more into our hardcore influences. I love how this song came out and Jamie’s guest vocal really takes it over the top for me.”

As for the meaning behind it, vocalist Jake Luhrs said it’s a pretty introspective song that seeks to find strength when things get tough.

“‘Sonic Salvation’ is about finding power and strength in music. The fact that music can bring us back to a memory, help us decompress from the outside world and how music is what has created our world that is the metal scene.”

Season of Surrender will be released on June 5 via Fearless Records, but you can preorder your copy today.

It’s beginning to sound like new Baroness is on the horizon, as the band gets ready to head into the studio this summer. Details surrounding the sludge metal band’s seventh album and follow up to 2023’s STONE have been scarce at best, but some new details have emerged thanks to guitarist Gina Gleason.

While speaking with Guitar World about the band, her side project Ecliptor, and a whole buncha other stuff, Gleason admitted that the band’s been eyeing new tunes for some time.

“The past year we’ve been touring the Red and Blue records. I’m a huge fan of those records, especially Blue. We’ve also been working on new music for the better part of a year and a half. The challenge now is whittling it down and finding the identity of the album, before going into the studio around July.”

That last bit about finding the album’s identity is huge for a band like Baroness. When we last spoke with Gleason and frontman John Baizley, they spoke at great lengths about STONE‘s identity and how it’s its own thing compared to all the albums named after colors.

I don’t know about you, but hearing about new Baroness has me extremely excited. These guys don’t miss, so it’s going to be a blast to learn and hear more about this upcoming record as things materialize.

This weekend, nu metal band Coal Chamber will grace the Sick New World stage in Las Vegas. It’s a big moment for the band that reunited back in 2023, but it’s got a whole new meaning for drummer Mikey Cox. And that’s because he’s faced down and beaten stage 3 cancer.

The shocking news that he even received a cancer diagnosis came in an Instagram post, in which he outlined not just his diagnosis from April 1, 2025, but the “dark” and difficult road he experienced afterward. And though his treatments included radiation, chemo, and surgery, he managed to get out the other side and enter the recovery stage.

Now, with nothing but good news on the cancer front hopefully on the horizon, Cox announced that he’s partering with Fxck Cancer to auction off a custom, 1-of-1 drum kit with the proceeds going to cancer support, awareness, and research. Cox said in a prepared statement that he chose Fxck Cancer because of how they approach cancer awareness, opting to focus on early detection with younger demographics and the music world as a whole.

Rather than mince his words and paraphrase, here’s Cox’s announcement in full:

“GRATITUDE. It’s a word that gets thrown around a lot, but it hits differently for me these days.

“April 1, 2025, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer. I’m not unique. It feels like a lot of us are dealing with this or know someone who is. It’s dark, it’s scary, and it changes the lives of everyone in its orbit.

“The first thing I said to my wife was that I was going to fight with everything I had for my family! There were a lot of days I couldn’t make it out of bed, but I didn’t want cancer to define me. So, I finished building the house I was working on with my Bash Construction Group company, and I wrote some of the best music of my life! After a yearlong battle and absolutely brutal rounds of radiation, chemotherapy, and eventually surgery, I’m so grateful to be able to say I made it to CANCER FREE.

“The second thing I said to myself was that I wanted to create something positive out of this situation, and that’s where we are today. I hope you’ll join me as I partner with Fxck Cancer to auction off a custom, one-of-a-kind drum kit from ddrum, Scorpion Percussion, TRX Cymbals, and Gator Cases with proceeds to bring awareness, support and resources to those who may find themselves in this unpredictable and unwanted community of warriors.

The name of their newly announced tour may evoke the winter months, but Finnish epic power metal band Ensiferum‘s ‘The Winter Storm Over North America’ is taking place this September. Juuust a little shy of winter, guys.

Set to play American and Canadian venues over a two-week span, the tour will kick off during ProgPower USA in Atlanta on September 9. The whole shebang will come to an end on September 27 in Seattle. Between those dates, they’ll hit venues in Pittsburgh, Calgary, and Vancouver, just to name a few stops. Coming along for the ride will be Firewind.

With their eyes on the coming tour, Ensiferum said they were excited to return to our neck of the woods.

“We are very excited to come back to North America for this tour with Firewind in September. We’ll bring the Winter Storm on the stages! See you guys in the pit!”

A legal battle over some rare early recordings of a little known band that would one day become Black Sabbath has come to an end, with the band now gaining full control of those tapes. And we know this because Sharon Osbourne shared the details on the recent The Osbournes podcast.

For those that don’t recall, the whole thing originates with former Black Sabbath manager Jim Simpson. The guy had originally planned to release a series of demos recorded back in 1969 featuring a band named Earth. Of course, diehard metal fans know that band ultimately became Black Sabbath, so such recordings would be a major find/release since they feature Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward during the early years.

Plans for their release went so far as it got the title Earth: The Legendary Lost Tapes. Yet when word of those plans got out, a law suit was filed by Osbourne to stop the release of those tapes. Now, during the most recent episode of The Osbournes podcast, Sharon revealed that everything’s been settled and Black Sabbath are now in control of those recordings:

“We settled with Jim Simpson and the band now have their demos back. And all four of them [the original members of Black Sabbath] own it, which is where it should be. All of that stuff should be theirs. So it all ended well. So, yeah, they own them. We’re gonna talk about what everybody wants to do with it, and we’ll go from there.”

Sharon said the tapes carry an extremely important significance for metalheads everywhere. Especially since the settlement also included photos that were taken during that time period. Being able to see and hear the men that ended up shaping heavy metal as a genre in their youth is a pretty unique opportunity.

“I just think it’s historically important – for music lovers of that genre. And then we got [the rights to] the pictures that were taken at that time too. So, that is all so important.

“I mean, listen, you [Jack] want those pictures. Everybody in the band’s kids and grandkids would love to see [them]… It’s special. And I’m just happy that it’s where it should be – with the band, and [they can decide] what they wanna do as a band, what they’re gonna do with it. So that’s great.”

In the past, Simpson financed the 1969 sessions and later had the tapes restored. He argued, much like Sharon does, that the tapes had historical significance. He also claimed that he offered to cut the band in for the release, but that offer was reportedly declined.

Sharon ultimately commended Simpson for deciding to settle the matter and give the tapes over to Black Sabbath.

“He did the right thing at the end of the day. He did the right thing for the band.”

It’s been a little more than a month since Spirit Adrift played what was supposed to be their final show ever. But thanks to Nate Garrett being one of the good guys in metal, that plan has been tossed to the wayside to help some fellow musicians in need, as the band is replacing Fulci on the Decibel Tour.

Through some unforeseen circumstances regarding visa processing issues here in the U.S., the Italian death metal band couldn’t make it to the states for the Decibel Tour. With the potential vacancy causing some major headaches for the tour’s organizers, Garrett opted to help out and hop on the bill with Spirit Adrift, giving fans one last chance to catch them live amidst a killer tour of death metal acts.

“We were sorry to hear that our friends in Fulci are unable to make it to the States for the Decibel tour. But we’re honored to step in on short notice and make this happen. Since we announced the end of Spirit Adrift, a lot of y’all have been clamoring for a farewell tour, so here you go. Decibel Magazine has always been so supportive of Spirit Adrift, so this was an offer we simply could not refuse.

“We’re psyched to be the black sheep of the tour, old school doom/heavy metal smack in the middle of a powerhouse lineup of incredible death metal bands. We’ll be playing songs from our new (and final) album Infinite Illumination, as well as highlights of the back catalog. Hopefully we’ll see some of you long time Spirit Adrift fans out there, and maybe we can even win over the more extreme metal fans. We’ll definitely be breaking our necks to ‘Slit Your Guts’ with y’all every night. Can’t wait!”

Though it’s not exactly how Garrett drew up the end of Spirit Adrift, it’s a fortuitous turn of events. Not only does it ensure that the tour’s lineup is full of killer bands, but it’s also a chance for Spirit Adrift to properly say goodbye to fans while supporting their final album Infinite Illumination.

Talk about an end to an era. This is the farewell EP from Brazilian metal giants, Sepultura. Just four songs in length, this release marks the band’s official end — at least in the studio. Their farewell tour still has a way to go so you have some time to catch ’em live, but as far as recorded material, this is the end of a roughly 30-year career. It’s just sad the Cavaleras couldn’t have joined up one last time to say goodbye to a metal institution.

It’s been a while since we’ve featured a new song from “doom wop” trio Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol. Their 2024 album Big Dumb Riffs was a good time, as we featured a number of singles off that studio effort. This morning, the wait for more good times from RBBP are back again with the release of “Peaches”.

I’m not going to make any Presidents of the United States jokes about peaches or cans or men in factories downtown, because this track is its own thing. It’s a fuzzy, irreverent song that after reading the lyrics, I’m pretty sure is about butts. Or maybe the song’s an audio Rorschach test and I’ve just outed myself to the entire world.

Either way, “Peaches” is a hook-laden trip, full of fat ass riffs and a simple, if easy to sing along, vocal line. There’s just something about this band that takes a simple riff and turns it into an entire song without feeling repetitive or unimaginative. They know their sound, they know their vibe, and they’re sticking to it. The band opines that its melody would “make Green Album-era Weezer jealous” and honestly, that’s pretty apt.

Set for official release when the band’s next album CA$H GRAB is released at a later date, this little anthem is going to be a hit live, which is great because they have a whole mess of shows coming up. What a day! Two stories referencing baseball and two chances for me to talk about how the New York Mets have failed me up to this point. (Really, it’s bad you guys.) But down in Baltimore, the Orioles are doing relatively okay and earlier today they announced that they would be celebrating GRAMMY-winning hometown hardcore band Turnstile by hosting a ‘Turnstile Night’ on Friday, July 10.

Naturally, this sort of thing makes a ton of sense, given Turnstile’ two GRAMMY wins back in February and the fact that they call Baltimore their home. Turnstile has not only grown in popularity in general over the last few years, but the Orioles organization has recently been using the band’s music for an admittedly great hype video. Hell, their star slugger Pete Alonso (ex-Met, sadly…) uses “Birds” off the band’s album Never Enough as his walk up song when he comes up to bat at their home ballpark, Camden Yards.

Baseball teams of all levels use promotional nights to put asses in seats. Usually you’ll get a bobblehead of a player on the team or maybe a promotional shirt, but this Turnstile night will see purchasers of a special ticket package getting a limited edition Baltimore Orioles jersey with ‘Turnstile’ and the number 26 emblazoned on the back.

In addition to the free new threads, the team has announced that members of Turnstile will be on hand at the game to serve as “guest splashers”. For those that don’t know, the Orioles have what’s called the “Bird Bath Splash Zone” in sections 84 and 86 of their ballpark. In those sections, fans regularly get hit with sprays of water when things go well from their “chief hydration officer” Mr. Splash. Sometimes, they let special guests fill that role and this time, it’s the aforementioned hardcore band that’ll be soaking folks in their seats.

Tickets for the July 10 game are on sale now, though if you want the special Turnstile Night package, you’re gonna have to go to MLB.com.

Goth glam post-hardcore outfit Black Veil Brides have a new album titled VINDICATE coming out on May 8 via Spinefarm and they dropped its fourth single earlier today with “Revenger”. And unlike the other previous offerings, this one’s got something up its proverbial sleeve that most won’t see coming — they have Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn in the mix.

Focusing on the whole vengeance = justice motif, the band says “Revenger” frames “vengeance as fantasy and delusion, following a self-styled avenger convinced that retribution could deliver justice.” Of course, that retribution is usually short lived, however, so don’t take the wrong message away from this one.

Black Veil Brides frontman Andy Biersack elaborated on that concept:

“I have always been interested in the sort of ethical dilemma that we have culturally of cheering for justice. I thought it would be an interesting exercise to write lyrics from the perspective of someone who is trying to seek out the ultimate form of justice.

“Because I was writing from someone else’s voice, this felt like the kind of song that would be best served by having someone else’s voice on the song. So, we brought in Robb Flynn of Machine Head. The reason he came to mind first was of course his voice, tonality and style I thought was perfect for this. He is also someone who was one of the first real defenders of Black Veil Brides. In the early days when we were getting absolutely shit on by every other metal band, Robb Flynn and Machine Head stood up for us and said positive things about us and has maintained that for years and years.

“I think it’s one of my favorite songs on the record.”

This must be fate or something. My New York Mets finally won a game after 12 grueling, faith-shattering losses and now heavy metal outfit Armored Saint dropped a new single called “Hit A Moonshot”. For those that aren’t familiar, a “moonshot” is baseball parlance that means to hit a baseball high and far for a homerun. Which isn’t something I’ve seen a lot of this year, but that’s beside the point….

With their new album Emotion Factory Reset set for release on May 22 via Metal Blade Records, this is that album’s second single. Perhaps frontman John Bush can elaborate a little further on the whole “moonshot” thing and how it pertains to the track:

“It’s like you knocked something out of the park. I use a lot of sports analogies because I love sports. Sports IS entertainment…’Hit A Moonshot’ is inspired by the people who keep landing on their feet. Like, no matter what the fuck this person does… Some people just get lucky. This applies to anyone. And landing on your feet is commendable. So, I’m busting balls, but I’m also giving accolades. Sometimes people can do that all the way to their grave. Then there are other people who are so good or talented or creative, and they struggle forever. I don’t think life is balanced all the time, and I don’t think it’s fair.

“It has a ferocious riff, cool tempo changes, scorching leads, huge chorus with lots of backing vocals. We love Queen and The Sweet! It’s a cool breakdown with an epic ending. Once again, it sounds just like Armored Saint.”

This is a heavy metal banger through and through. Lots of driving riffs, a shredder of a solo, and some kick ass rhythms serve as the backbone that makes you want to bang your head. I mean, at least that’s what it did to me. It also helps that the video’s full of action with some humor mixed in there for good measure. Who doesn’t love a metal concert with some bare knuckle beatdowns?

Bassist Joey Vera said the song’s intro riff is based on something he wrote when he was just a teenager, though it’s obviously morphed since then.

“The intro riff is an echo of a memory from age 17 when I was in a garage band in Los Angeles. After I came up with this new version, the familiarity of it revealed itself once I stood back and listened. The riff is very different from the original one but there’s no doubt the feel and vibe has stuck with me ever since then. I added a half-time feel to the chorus to steer the arrangement away from predictability. It feels like classic Saint to me.”

This summer, thrash metal stalwarts Vio-lence will be going global with their show, as they head out on the ‘Eruption Of Screams’ international tour later this summer.

Set to kick off on July 20 in Gdańsk, Poland, the tour will run pretty much non-stop until it all comes to a close on August 28 in Seoul, South Korea. Along the way, they’ll hit venues in Portugal, the U.K., Austria, Russia, China, and Japan, just to name a few.

According to Vio-lence frontman Sean Killian, the band is excited that the 28-date run will see the band step foot on some parts of the world for the very first time as a unit.

“We’re excited to get back to Europe and the UK, and visit Russia, China, Japan, Taipei and South Korea for the first time.”

At various points throughout the tour, Vio-lence will be joined by some of their fellow FM Music Management acts, including Armored Saint, Cutthroat, and Angelus Apatrida.

When a tour featuring Lamb Of God, Kublai Khan TX, Sanguisugabogg, and Fit For An Autopsy announced late last night, I gotta admit — it sounded almost too good to be true. Surely there’s no way that many bands on such a tear lately could share the stage at the same time, I thought. Thankfully, I was dead wrong and the North American tour kicked off and it’s been going on since mid-March.

Of course, we couldn’t let the whole thing play out without getting a photographer out to snap some shots for us. Hence why we sent photog Mike White out to the Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre in Atlanta for the April 15 show. As a result, we’ve got the galleries of all four bands that you see on the rest of the page.

It’s been a minute since the world got new Korn tunes, but that’s all changed thanks to a nearly three-year-old video game. Earlier this morning, the influential nu metal band released “Reward The Scars”, a new track dropped to promote the Lord Of Hatred expansion pack for Blizzard’s action RPG Diablo IV.

With the expansion due out next Tuesday, the track’s release marks the first time that Korn’s put out something new since the release of their 2022 album Requiem. According to the band, the song is directly inspired by Diablo IV, which sees players teaming up with friends to tackle Hell’s hordes and take down the titular Lord Of Hatred.

The track was produced by Nick Raskulinecz, engineered by Matt Hyde and James Harley, mixed by Chris Lord-Alge, and mastered by Ted Jensen. Naturally, it appears on the soundtrack for the aforementioned expansion. All of this is going on at an advantageous point for Korn, who’s set to perform at this weekend’s Sick New World in Las Vegas.

Earlier this week, motherfucking Slayer announced that they were celebrating the 40th anniversary of Reign In Blood with a pair of special shows: one on September 4 in Shakopee, Minnesota and another on November 13 in Los Angeles, California. The list of supporting acts are stacked and all, but we should have known they weren’t done adding anniversary shows — it is a major milestone, after all.

Well, that’s exactly what happened. Earlier this morning, the iconic thrash metal band announced a third Reign In Blood 40th anniversary show. This time around, the show will take place in Los Angeles, California on November 14. That means the Kia Forum will host two consecutive nights of what could be one of the more killer shows of the year.

Slayer said they added the second date “due to overwhelming demand” after tickets for the November 13 show quickly sold out. The supporting acts/special guests for the second night will be the same as the first night — Cannibal Corpse, the Cavaleras playing Chaos A.D., and Crowbar.

Tickets for the second Los Angeles show will go live tomorrow at 10 a.m. PST. If you don’t want to wait, there’s always a pre-sale starting at noon today using the code RIB2026.

Death metal mofos from the Empire State, Undeath, are done recording their fourth full-length studio effort. And though we won’t know much about it for a while longer, the soon-to-be-announced release will be their first on Relapse Records after signing with the label.

According to the band, the new album was produced by Colin Marson at Menegroth / The Thousand Caves Studio in Pennsylvania. That’s pretty much all we know at this point.

As for the band’s signing with Relapse Records, Undeath frontman Alexander Sason said the decision to join the label was something each member was excited about.

“It’s time to unveil the next chapter for Undeath: We’re honored to announce that we’ve signed to Relapse Records. Relapse is a label every member of this band has admired and respected since we were young metalheads obsessing over Necrophagist and Dying Fetus, and for our band to now be a part of that amazing history (and such a badass roster full of bands we love) feels like a dream actualized.

“Our fourth album is recorded and in the chamber. We’ll have more details on that a little later, but for now just know that our fastest, darkest and most straight up evil record to date is on the way, and Relapse putting it out just feels right.”

All of this news comes just before Undeath get set out to hit the road for a major North American tour with Archspire. That run will go from April 24 to June 7, with tickets available today. You can find the full list of tour dates below.

Sexcuse me, bohabs, but say it loud with me so everyone can hear it — FUCK CANCER. It’s a brutal scourge and unfortunately, another one of our own has been affected. This time, it’s GWAR founding member and human slave to The Sexecutioner, Chuck Varga.

It’s a shitty situation and we don’t know what he’s been actually diagnosed with, but cancer is cancer. He’s one of the approximately two million Americans that will be diagnosed with cancer in 2026. But what his friends in GWAR have is the platform for some potential good. Hence the beginning of a nationwide blood donation campaign that’s been launched in Varga’s honor.

GWAR is asking fans, bohabs, and everyone with the ability to understand this article to go out and donate blood. All you gotta do is head to a blood bank near you, register as donors or give in Chuck’s name. Do that and you’ll get a free exclusive t-shirt designed by Varga.

Aside from his time with GWAR, Varga is a sculptor, set designer, and rock artist by trade. His work has directly affected GWAR’s theatrics not only in the sculpts and art he’s done, but he’s also co-founded the band’s Slave Pit Studios in Richmond, Virginia back in the 1980s.

Varga eventually left GWAR in 1997 to pursue a career on Broadway, film, and television up in New York City. Though he would sometimes perform with the band over the years, he ultimately retired from that part of his life in 2021.

So if you have the ability to donate, consider doing so. You won’t just be helping Varga, but the millions of people affected by cancer, too.

Finnish symphonic metal outfit Amberian Dawn released the second single off their forthcoming album Temptation’s Gates earlier today, titled “The Vision of Dreaming”. And though the album won’t come out until June 26 via Napalm Records, it’s yet another introduction to the band’s new vocalist Nicole Willerton.

Speaking of the single, keyboardist/guitarist Tuomas Seppälä explained its genesis.

“I originally composed ‘The Vision of Dreaming’ back in 2021, but it truly found its final form only now as we began working on it together with our new vocalist. It represents the lighter side of the album, but it still has a nice metal bite to it. I spent a great deal of time carefully crafting its sonic atmosphere. The foundation is built largely on carefully selected analog synthesizer sounds, combined with thoughtfully detailed arrangements. There’s a clear touch of ABBA-like atmosphere in the song, yet at the same time, it has a fresh and heavier edge that makes it unmistakably part of our world.”

As that new vocalist, Willerton went a little deeper into the song’s lyrical meaning:

“The lyrics of ‘The Vision of Dreaming’ are dreamy and describe the deep spiritual and emotional connection between two people. It explores how their shared memories, emotions, and dreams keep them intertwined, even when physically apart. The lyrics portray love as a bond that transcends space and time. In essence, the song describes a powerful bond connecting two people beyond the physical.”

With Temptation’s Gates aiming to be the start of a brand new era for Amberian Dawn, there’s a lot riding on it. It’s not just the introduction of a new singer, but the revitalization of a band’s sound altogether.

It’s with an eye to the future that Seppälä says Temptation’s Gates will excite new and old fans of the band alike.

“When I started working with our new singer, I felt the same kind of excitement I had years ago when I began creating our debut album back in 2007 and 2008. At that time, Amberian Dawn were still newcomers to the band world, even though we were already experienced musicians. With Temptation’s Gates, I felt that same spark of creating something new for the first time in a long while.

“I hadn’t composed many songs yet when I began collaborating with our new vocalist. Most of the material came together surprisingly fast once I realized how easy and natural it was to work with her. I was deeply inspired by Nicole’s enthusiasm, dedication, and efficiency. I truly feel that the band has been reborn with her joining us.

“Musically, our style has evolved once again, perhaps moving slightly back toward a heavier, more metal-driven direction. At the same time, elements of our classic sound and identity are naturally still present. In many ways, creating this album felt like going back to my roots. For the first time in a long while, I also took on a bigger role as a guitarist. I focused more on crafting guitar riffs, played roughly half of the guitar leads on the album, and even performed one full guitar solo myself.”

Over their long ass career, Judas Priest have had some banger cover art in their discography. British Steel, Screaming For Vengeance, Painkiller… the list goes on. Well, you can add one more kick ass cover art to the list, as their new greatest hits compilation The Best of Judas Priest has some sick art as well.

Set for release on June 19 via Sony Music, the collection will be available in three different formats: a CD version featuring 16 tracks and both a standard and online-exclusive picture disc vinyl featuring just 10 tracks.

Of course, die-hard Priest fans will know that June 19 is an important date in the band’s history, as it’s not just the release date of the 50th anniversary of their album Sad Wings of Destiny, but it’s also the date the band’s documentary The Ballad of Judas Priest will come out as well.

As for its tracklist, this compilation will span all 50 years of the band’s history, going back to their 1974 debut Rocka Rolla until their 2024 album Invincible Shield. You can check out the killer art, as well as the tracklists for each version, below.

Long Island-based crossover act Extinction A.D. are back to kick some teeth in and they’re doing it with reckless abandon thanks to their latest single “Truth or Consequences”. Oh and they’ve got a little help on this one from Incendiary’s Brian Audley.

Spanning a little under two and a half minutes, this one’s a sledgehammer to the solar plexus. It’s a circle pit in your living room. The damn thing just stomps.

Extinction A.D. vocalist/guitarist Rick Jimenez said it was pretty easy to get Audley to join in on the track, as the two used to be bandmates. When writing “Truth or Consequences”, Jimenez said it was imperative they got some extra oomph to its sound and Audley was exactly that.

“Working with Brian was a no-brainer for us. Incendiary has always been a massive influence on the Long Island scene, and having his energy on this track took it to a completely different level of aggression. This song veers hard into the ideology of more ground level stakes, which hearkens back to vibes of a former band of mine and Audley’s called Soldiers.”

A new wrestler is making her WWE debut next week and she’s got a bit of a connection to our world, too. Rayne Leverkusen will be joining the major wrestling promotion’s developmental show next week as the “Maiden of Metal,” Lizzie Rain. For those in the know, “maiden” is particularly telling, as she’s also the niece of late Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr.

Last night during the brand’s April 21 episode, a vignette aired showcasing Rain, who said both she and heavy metal will “never, ever, never ever die.” She’s acting with a sort of old school heavy metal style, which again, makes sense given her connection to Iron fucking Maiden.

Known for her in-ring appearances for European promotions like PROGRESS, Hustle, ATTACK!, and EVE, Rain signed with WWE back in February. When she tried out during last year’s Summerslam, she was considered by those in attendance as the best performer among the hopefuls.

Her connection to Iron Maiden is possible because her uncle Clive Burr played with the band from 1979 to 1982. He’s got credits on all three of Iron Maiden’s first albums, Iron Maiden, Killers, and The Number of the Beast. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2013 due to complications from multiple sclerosis.

Rain revealed her relation to Burr in an episode of Wrestling with Johners, where she admitted that her “Maiden of Metal” persona is a direct reference to her connection with her uncle. She did admit, however, that she never got close to Burr because he was too sick by the time she got to know him. Still, it’s gotta be pretty cool that she’s going to be making her debut a few months before her famous uncle is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

We’ll definitely keep an eye on her progress at NXT. Who knows? Maybe this time next year she’ll make the main roster and kick some ass on some bigger stages.

Two days after posting a cryptic little teaser, both The Sword and Red Fang revealed just moments ago that they’ll be heading out on tour this August. Only downside is that it’s limited to the U.S. west coast at the moment.

Set as a co-headlining dealy, this tour will see both Red Fang and The Sword play 15 total dates. The run will kick off on August 7 in Dallas, Texas and will come to a close on August 28 in Denver, Colorado. In between, they’ll make stops in Oklahoma City, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Seattle, just to name a few.

Throughout the tour, the pair of bands will be joined by Portland, Oregon threesome Spoon Benders.

Metalcore outfit Darkest Hour made a big announcement earlier today, as they announced that they’ve re-signed with MNRK Heavy and have teamed up with producer Mark Lewis for the eventual recording of their 11th studio record next month.

Details about the band’s moves were made public in a social media post, in which the band revealed that they’ll be joining Lewis in his Nashville, Tennessee studio sometime in May. Lewis’ involvement is kind of a big deal, since he’s worked with some pretty big names in the metal business, including Whitechapel, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Cannibal Corpse.

Speaking of the band’s choice of producer this time around, guitarist Mike Schleibaum said he and the rest of the crew were excited to have him at the helm of their next album.

“The idea of working with Mark is extremely exciting.

“He’s been a part of many very successful and legendary metal records, and having his input and vision on all this is going to be important to making this very special album, unique, classic, and perfect!”

Similarly, Lewis shared his enthusiasm for the pairing, stating in a press release that this was going to excite fans.

“I’m extremely stoked to finally get in the studio with my old friends in Darkest Hour. Something that has been talked about for ages is happening at the right time. This album will crush!”

Though we know a new album is coming, that’s about all we know. There’s no album title, no release date, hell — there’s no lead single to get hype brewing.

Still, Schleibaum gave fans a little taste of what’s to come, sharing where the band’s head is at for the new material.

“I’m in love with how this record is so thrashy and aggressive, while still maintaining that core melody we are so known for. It’s like the best combination of all the Darkest Hour albums into one, and it’s such a joy to watch all of it come together.

“The chemistry of the band is on fire right now, with everyone bringing something unique and special to the table. The guitar solos are next level; the band’s drumming & rhythm section is just locked in insanely tight, and I’m really excited about where John took everything lyrically this time. Truly something special and magic in these songs.”

As for their resigning with MNRK Heavy, the label’s Director A&R Kyle Frey said the label was over the moon with Darkest Hour’s signing:

“We are ecstatic to deepen our relationship with Darkest Hour and continue representing such an influential band on the MNRK roster.

“Their legacy is built on boundary-pushing consistency and resilience, and after 30 years together, they continue to fan the flames of inspiration in this new era, poised to deliver a landmark career highlight album.”

Swedish doom metal titans Monolord are going to release their next album Neverending on May 29 via Relapse Records, so of course they released a new single to keep folks hyped up. And as you’d expect, this new track titled “Oozing Wound” is a fuzzy, heavy, and at times ethereal.

Speaking of the track, vocalist/guitarist Thomas Jäger said “Oozing Wound” marks a major change for the band, as it’s the first time they’ve tuned wayyy down for maximum heavy.

“It’s the first song we’ve done in a drop tuning. We usually play in B, but ‘Oozing Wound,’ ‘You Bastard,’ and ‘It’s Neverending’ are all drop A. Except for one part, ‘Oozing Wound’ is almost the same riff all the way through. It’s repetitive, but we do different stuff with it, like remove the guitar and have just bass and drums in parts and then remove rhythm guitar when I play the solo melody. The lyrics are about being stuck on a bad road, feeling trapped with someone who takes advantage of you.”

The song itself is almost seven minutes of pure doom metal. If you like your metal like you like your barbecue (cooking low and slow, that is), then this jam is just for you.

Neverending will be released on May 29 via Relapse Records, but you can preorder your copy today.

One of the biggest questions facing Korn fans these days is whether founding bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu would ever come back to the band. He’s been out of the fold ever since he stepped down in 2021 and even though he contributed bass parts to the band’s 2022 album Requiem, he’s largely been radio silence except for a 2025 interview and now this new podcast appearance that explains his absence from the seminal nu metal band.

While on the Shady Characters podcast with his former L.A.P.D. bandmate Richard Morill, Fieldy explained that a lot of the reasoning behind his departure stemmed from the COVID-19 pandemic and how it affected everything.

“COVID happened. That’s it. I’m like, ‘I’m not going out there.’ That’s what happened, ’cause it was new.

“Now. I’m like… The whole time – I mean, I didn’t get vaccinated or anything – but when you reflect on it, that’s what happened. They’re like, ‘We’re going to Florida and all this.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m not going to get vaccinated.’ I’m not going. I go, ‘People, this is weird right now.’

“But I mean that’s kind of what happened. But it gave me time to sit, and once you sit, you can reflect and you’re like, you’re kind of just waiting you know to what’s next, ’cause I don’t know what the rest of this day is going to bring. I’m just on fire for whatever, whatever is ready.”

Oh, so this is all because he’s an anti-vaxxer. Makes sense if he decided he’s not going to safeguard himself against the disease for the benefit of everyone around him that he’d at least step back and not risk it. There’s something commendable about that in a way. It’s better than going out, getting sick, and spreading the disease because you refused to get vaccinated, but that’s beside the point.

Fieldy was also asked if he’s permanently retired from Korn, but he didn’t really give a straightforward answer.

“I’m retired from Korn today, but we’ll see what the day brings tomorrow.”

Soooo he’s on hiatus, which means he could return to the band anytime he wants. That should at least give Korn fans some hope, since I remember a time when Brian “Head” Welch said he wouldn’t go back to the band and well, he’s back. Anything can happen, really.

In the meantime, Fieldy has another musical project coming soon as he teams up with Sepultura drummer Greyson Nekrutman, and ex-Fear Factory member Christian Olde Wolbers for… something.

“I’m doing another project. We got two rough songs done with Greyson [Nekrutman] from Sepultura on drums. He’s a sick drummer… He’s like a jazz drummer.

“He can play the old school jazz way, but fast. Like that guy, that guy’s an insane drummer. He’s one of the sickest drummers I’ve ever worked with. And you know what? Every drummer I worked with is dope. David Silveria, Ray [Luzier, Korn drummer] Mikey [Bordin] from Faith No More and Ozzy, who else did we work with? Brooks Wackerman.”

We’ll definitely keep an eye out for that, but for now, Fieldy’s not coming back to Korn anytime soon. But there’s a chance he will… one day.

For a while now, Zakk Wylde’s been a busy, busy boy. Not only had he been touring with Pantera for a loooong time, but his band Black Label Society released their latest album Engines of Destruction and has been on tour with Zakk Sabbath (Wylde’s Black Sabbath cover band) for its ‘American Crusade’ tour. That’s all well and good, but that tour isn’t quite over just yet, as it was announced that a second leg of the tour will take place this summer.

Set to take place from August 25 in Albany, New York until the final show takes place on October 2 in Bend, Oregon, the second leg of the ‘American Crusade’ tour will once again see BLS and Zakk Sabbath share the stage, meaning Zakk Wylde’s gonna be pulling double duty for another 20 shows. They’ll also have Dark Chapel on the bill, so there should be some downtime for Wylde between sets.

Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 24 at 10 a.m. local time. That’s for both general admission tickets, as well as the VIP upgrades on offer. A pre-sale is currently ongoing at the band’s website. All you need to enter that is to use the code BLS2026.

Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted has been living his best life. Ever since leaving the biggest band on the planet, the dude’s been cashing in fat royalties checks and living off the Black Album for decades. He’s also since done other musical stuff to varying degrees of success and exposure, playing with Ozzy, Voivod, and some of his own efforts as well, like his solo Newsted band.

Earlier today, Newsted announced that one of his other bands, The Chophouse Band, will be heading out on its first-ever headlining North American tour this summer. Spanning 18 dates with a mix of headlining and supporting slots for Blackberry Smoke, the tour will make stops along the south, midwest, and east coast throughout July. Newsted said the tour will be a major step for the band.

“We’re fired up to finally take this to the people, and it’s an honor to head out on the road with the Blackberry crew for our first proper run. Blackberry Smoke has built a loyal following that knows and enjoys good music.

“We’ll be performing The Chophouse Band originals and selections from a few of our heroes. Even at places like the Ryman, we will play some acoustic-based tunes, but throughout the set it is guaranteed to get heavy!”

“Selections from a few of our heroes” very likely means some Ozzy and Metallica covers, if I had to guess. Either way, I’ve seen Newsted live since he left Metallica and he’s always up for a good show.

For 15 consecutive days this summer, the weird-ass grindcore outfit known as Squid Pisser will be exclusively touring the western part of the United States for their ‘Internal Violence Tour 2026’.

Set to kick off on June 18 in Las Vegas, the tour will run until it meets its end on July 2 in San Diego, California. Along the way, the tour will make stops in Albuquerque, New Mexico; Denver, Colorado; and Portland, Oregon, just to name a few stops.

Speaking of the tour, frontman Baxter Yogurt (also known as Tommy Meehan/GWAR’s Grodius Maximus) said they were excited to be as disgusting as possible during that two-week run.

“SQUID PISSER will be scraping whale-tail up and down the West Coast and Southwest on our INTERNAL VIOLENCE TOUR 2026. A quick and filthy two-week June run chock-full of tadpole-batter and cockroach-dumplings.

This past Friday, California-based multi-instrumentalist Leila Abdul-Rauf released a sonically intense album when she dropped her sixth studio effort, Andros Insidium via 20 Buck Spin. Known for her work on five Vastum albums, Abdul-Rauf has been working on her solo efforts for a while now. This time around, her album serves as the darkest, most confrontational piece of music in her career.

Described as a deep dive into the “dark vastness of the psyche of woman,” the album is appropriately cinematic and dark, with ambience and industrial flair building the backbones of the entire release. The whole project comes with some special guest contributions from Samuel Foster (ex-Saros, ex-Weakling), Kienan Hamilton (Cartilage, False Figure), Gregory C. Hagan (ex-Common Eider, King Eider, ex-Thomas Carnacki), and Drew Zercoe (Field Of Fear), so be sure to keep an ear out for them.

But enough jibber jabber from yours truly. Here’s Leila Abdul-Rauf giving a deep dive breakdown of each track on Andros Insidium.

“Descent Into Kur”

Among the ceremonial din of gongs, a choir narrates Inanna‘s treacherous descent into the underworld. The militant drumming (courtesy of Sam Foster) signals the calling that lures Inanna into the underworld as she braces herself for a journey of violence and harm.

“Stripped Before the Eye of Death”

Steeped in an ambiance of doom-laden synths, the lyrics continue telling the myth: Inanna has reached the deep darkness of the underworld. She is murdered by the sister goddess Ereshkigal, her corpse hung from a nail on a wall. She is later rescued and brought back to life through the help of her servant and gods, and sacrificial killing of her husband.

“Eros Anima”

The most cinematically epic track on the album, the lyrics describe the incestuous dance of the two goddesses, free to roam in the darkness and explore their innermost desires away from the gaze of male dominance. Lute sections deftly performed by Kienan Hamilton, and Sam Foster reappears on percussion. One of my personal faves on the album.

“Senex Rule”

Ancient sounding horns call and respond to the deeply resident throat-singing courtesy of Gregory Hagan, evoking a landscape of medievalism concurrent with the decline of a matriarchal goddess age, and a rise of patriarchy in myth and religion. Originating from a trumpet improv, this was the first song written for this album, from which the rest of the tracks developed.

“Fractured Body”

An electronified, industrialized reimagining of Vastum’s “Corpus Fractum”, I love how hard this song hits – a relentless frame drum beats among a backdrop of heavy distorted synths; it’s a staple in my life set. Drew Zercoe contributes a few vocal lines at the end. The lyrics are more philosophically driven, describing someone on the brink of a crucial inner development, digging deeply and searching, always questioning…

“Andros Insidium”

Stripped down instrumentally to just voice, piano, and synths, the title track is the most emotionally raw song on the album. The lyrics depict a revenge fantasy of a survivor against their abuser through castration and sodomy, which in this story, is enacted by a vengeful goddess. It speaks to the rage-filled fantasy the individual has against an attacker as well as the collective rage caused by systemic abuse through sexual, political, relational, emotional control. The goddess’s acts of revenge symbolize a reckoning against patriarchal harm and an imagined dawning of a new age where feminine power and wisdom are restored – violent and unapologetic.

“A Requiem For Ishtar”

The title track hits such a nerve, I felt that the listener needed space to sit in grief during whatever track would follow it. Featuring more of my signature ambient drones and horns, this was my first attempt at plainchant style vocals, and it felt appropriate to sing about the death of Inanna-Ishtar, as a symbol of the death of the feminine divine, weakened by a rising patriarchy.

“Return To Anu”

Almost the entirety of this album deals with such dark subject matter – a darkness that keeps compounding upon itself – I felt its conclusion needed some semblance of light at the end of the tunnel, a bittersweet finale. Kienan Hamilton makes a reappearance with wistful lute passages. The lyrics tell of Inanna’s eventual return from the underworld reuniting with her people. Not unscathed, she bears her scars as badges of honor. It describes the journey of Everywoman and her survival amidst a world that hates her and wants her shrunken, silent or dead. We rejoice the return of Inanna, not taking her power for granted, as we visualize the path towards a new goddess age in the modern world that benefits all, hardened and restrengthened against the threat of an ever-present manosphere.

Earlier today, Norwegian darkwave/dungeon synth artist Mortiis released the second single “Violent Silence” off their forthcoming album Ghosts of Europa. Accompanying the song’s release is a music video directed by Claudio Marino, which you can check out below.

Due for release on June 26 via Prophecy Productions, Ghost of Europa is Mortiis’ first release with the aforementioned label. And while that’s a momentous occasion for any band, Mortiis explained that this song is actually a reflection of a difficult time with his spouse.

“Lyrically, ‘Violent Silence’ came into being as an apology to my wife. I had done something stupid again, and she was really upset. I was trying to apologise in a text message – a really long one. The lyrics for ‘Violent Silence’ took a lot of inspiration from those words and that moment. As time goes by and having lived with this song for quite a while now, it gets harder for me to listen to those words. The gut-wrenching sensation of guilt never goes away fully. Musically, it was a very inspiring song to work on – especially with all those crazy fuzz and echo guitars that built up this song towards the end.”

Hardcore punk outfit A Wilhelm Scream released their latest album Cheap Heat earlier this year and now they’ve released a single and music video from that album titled “Fell Off”. And while the song’s overflowing with energy, it’s the music video directed by Arlo Dean Cook that really shows how energetic the band’s live shows can get.

Filmed during the band’s Australian tour last month, the video highlights how crazy A Wilhelm Scream’s shows can become. Bodies flying all over the place, excited fans screaming out the lyrics, the band going absolutely bananas. Looks like one hell of a time.

Judging by the band’s statement on the single/video, it absolutely was a great time.

“We’re super stoked to unleash our brand new video for ‘Fell Off,’ filmed at our sold-out show in Melbourne, Australia last month at Stay Gold. Months after abuse allegations made by a former partner forced him out of Bilmuri, guitarist Reese Maslen is back in the fold. Whether or not the court of public opinion has fully let go of those allegations has yet to be seen.

Maslen originally quit Bilmuri by releasing a statement that suggested he was walking out of the spotlight in order to try to become a better person.

“I exhibited behavior on several fronts during a previous relationship that I deeply regret.

“I am so sorry not only to her, but to anyone else these behaviors have affected. At this point, I can only apologize and take the steps to be a better person for myself and everyone else in my life. Effective immediately, I am stepping down from Bilmuri. I loved every second of my time with them, but it’s important that I take this time to work on myself.”

It’s unclear if four months is enough time to really reflect on your alleged poor behavior and turn things around, but here we are. News of Maslen’s return to Bilmuri actually cropped up before the band’s April 17 show. He personally confirmed that he was back in the band ahead of that gig, admitting that the chance to redeem himself within the band came about suddenly.

“Since stepping down from Bilmuri last December, I’ve been doing the work to be better for myself and everyone around me. I assumed I would not be asked to rejoin the band, so I acted and spoke publicly as such.

“On Sunday, I was laying in bed when I got a call from Johnny; I’m coming back for the Kinda Hard tour. See you 2nite Denver”

Only time will tell if the amount of “work” he’s done will be enough for the people he allegedly affected and hurt.

Two nights of epic proportions are slated for later this year, as legendary thrash band Slayer gears up to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their massive 1986 classic Reign In Blood. One of the shows is set in Minnesota and the other’s set in California, but regardless of the location, we know one thing — both shows are going to be bonkers.

That’s because not only will Slayer be playing, but they’ve also tapped into their long list of bands they’ve played with in the past and gotten them to participate in the two shows. We’re talkin’ Crowbar, we’re talkin’ Down, we’re talkin’ Cannibal Corpse… the list goes on.

In a post on the band’s social media, Slayer shared a prepared statement about the two dates:

“The fastest, the heaviest, the most uncompromising record in thrash metal history turns 40. SLAYER marks the anniversary with two US headline dates featuring the album performed in full, including their first LA show in seven years.”

Both shows will see Slayer play the entirety of Reign In Blood. Each show will have their own cadre of opening bands. The dates and opening acts will be the following:

• 9/4 Shakopee, MN Mystic Lake Amphitheater (w/ Down, Suicidal Tendencies & Hatebreed)
• 11/13 Los Angeles, CA The Kia Forum (w/ Cannibal Corpse, Cavalera performing Sepultura’s Chaos A.D. & Crowbar)

Black metal legends Immortal has finished work on their next album, meaning we will get to hear their follow up to 2023’s War Against All sometime in the near future. We know that’s the case because Immortal guitarist and vocalist Demonaz Doom Occulta shared an update on the new record.

“Greetings, hordes! The writing of the next Immortal album is finished. The new material follows our steady path of fast riff-powered Blashyrkh metal. More news will follow!”

Immortal has been a reunited unit since 2007, though their status fluctuated multiple times in the years since. Originally they got back together after falling apart in 2003 in order to play a series of summer festival shows, including Inferno Festival, Tuska Open Air, and Wacken Open Air. They even played a couple U.S. shows at the time before traveling to Australia and New Zealand for some shows there.

Following that run of dates, the band decided to continue on in a much more permanent way, while work began on All Shall Fall. Things eventually fell apart around 2015 when in-fighting caused a legal battle over the band’s name. That same year, Abbath quit the band to go start his solo work, with the remaining members staying to put out Northern Chaos Gods in 2018. At that point, Demonaz had returned as the band’s vocalist and guitarist, while Peter Tägtgren handled the bass.

A couple years later in 2020, the band once again had a fight over who had the rights to the name, this time it was between Demonaz and Horgh — the latter of which was challenging the former over whether they secured the trademark to the Immortal name or not. Two years later though, Demonaz was listed as the sole member of the band when they announced War Against All.

So yeah, who knows who’s on the band at this point to put out a new record. We’ll find out in due time, of course, but it’s a question worth asking at this juncture.

Today is the official holiday for pot smokers everywhere, so that makes it the perfect day for a pair of stoner rock bands to tease something huge. After all, they know their fan bases are in an altered state that should make them an almost captive audience, doomscrolling on their phones and whatnot.

Earlier today, the two bands shared a trippy, albeit retro, looking teaser on their Instagram pages. In it, we see Red Fang’s skull logo done up in 3D with a sword laying behind it all sci-fi and cool looking. Behind the animation is a weirdly ominous monotone sound that grows in intensity. Next to the animation are the words: “Wednesday. Comment below to be the first to know.”

So yeah, it’s a teaser for something being announced this Wednesday. Common money is on the two bands teaming up for a tour of some sort. Could also be a split release or something in that vein. Who knows?

Well, the bands know and we don’t so we gotta wait until Wednesday to learn more.

Industrial metal stalwarts Fear Factory have a lot of tour dates this summer, but thanks to some issues that have cropped up, an entire leg of their tour had to be shifted around a bit, resulting in their Latin American dates getting moved around a bit.

Earlier today, co-founder and guitarist Dino Cazares announced that their upcoming shows in Chile, Argentina, and Colombia are moving to mid-July. Unfortunately, however, their planned appearance at Bangers Open Air Festival had to be canceled, since they can’t make it out when that takes place.

The dates in question, listed as follows, were part of the band’s 30th anniversary celebration of their album Demanufacture. The newly rescheduled dates in question are:

• Jul 16 – Buenos Aires, Argentina @ Groove
• Jul 17 – Corooba, Argentina @ Club Paraguay

Out friends over at Decibel Magazine know how to put on a motherfucker of a party. Their ‘Metal & Beer Fests’, whether at Philly or Denver, tend to be some of the best events every year. So today’s news of them getting NOLA-based supergroup Down and the legendary Suicidal Tendencies to not only participate, but to headline their Denver fest, it makes complete sense, really.

Once again set to take over the Fillmore Palladium in Denver on December 4 and 5, ‘Decibel Metal & Beer Fest: Denver’ will see Suicidal Tendencies wrap up night one with Down set to send everyone home the following night.

Though we won’t know the full lineup for a while now, it’s exciting to know right now who’s at the top of the ticket. It only serves to help the mind imagine what other acts we can expect at this year’s event.

There are two different types of two-day tickets available for the fest: the “Just Metal” one that focuses on just seeing the bands and not sampling the various beers on tap and then there’s the “Metal & Beer” ticket that give you unlimited (within reason) samples from the fest’s diverse lineup of breweries. Naturally, both tickets require attendees to be 21 and over, since beer will be heavily consumed/available on site.
