I wasn’t satisfied about the most of the fan covers available on thingiverse, because the finer details aren’t optimized for 3D printing. That’s why I designed this customizable fan cover, where you are able to use different settings to create your own fan cover.

Check out the second picture for some of the available settings and the 3rd picture to sync the line size of the fan cover with the line width of your slicer. Use the Customizer or OpenSCAD to create your fan cover or use the pre-compiled fan covers as .stl-Files, optimized for 0.48mm line width (0.4mm nozzle).

This is a customizable 3D Model that allows you to create and print aluminum extrusion brackets for different types and sizes of extrusion profiles.

I’ve also added the 21 brackets for 2020 and for the short side of the 2040 profile as .stl files.

If you need some hammer nuts with a good value for money, I can highly recommend these ones: hammer nuts
I used the Drillpro M5 hammer nuts for my AM8.

Customizable Settings

Use the Customizer or OpenSCAD to create your own customized set of brackets.

You only need to set these few parameters to get all the 21 brackets automatically:

• width of mounting side of the extrusion profile (20mm for 2020 profile)
• length and thickness of the bracket
• number of rails (2020 has 1, 2040 has 1 and 2 rails)
• screw hole settings

This is a customizable thing, where you can print your own retro lightbox. These boxes normally costs >20 bucks, a printed one costs me about 5 dollar.

I’ve also added the two lightboxes as .stl files each with two different fonts that I’m using in the first picture.

The lid as well as the letter plates are chamfered. So you are able to slide the letter plates into the rails of the lid. After that you can slide the lid into the rails of the box. This ensures that these parts don’t fall out.

Customizable Settings

Use the Customizer or OpenSCAD to create your own customized retro Lightbox.

You can set:

• length, height and width of the box
• number of lines
• 2 different fonts: Siren Stencil (the little box in the picture) and Stardos Stencil (the big box)
• round edges of the lightbox
• size of the hole on the back, to insert your led light
• different thicknesses of the lid, letter plates and box

I needed another QAL-40 mounting plate for my Rollei Compact Traveler No. 1 tripod and measured the dimensions and hacked it into Fusion360. The Model also includes the 1/4″ thread for the camera mounting screw.

It is a few mm longer than the stock screw of the plate, but it works with my equipment.

Please don’t use the printed plate with heavy gear. I will use it only for action cams, flashes and mobile recorder. I tested the plate successfully with an EOS 70D + Canon 60mm macro lens + Flash (about 2kg).

This plate fits on Rollei C4i, C5i, C40i, C50i, Compact Traveler No 1, Compact Traveler No 10, CT-4A, CT-5A, CT-5C, M5 Mini, PGA-584, PGA-484, TT-1, T2S.

The Anet A8 3D Printer is probably the best selling Kit on the market. Its because of the low price and the huge community behind it. But on the the downside, the stock Anet A8 has some disadvantages that will directly affect the print quality. It also has some serious security concerns.

• T corner or Brackets to Reduce X-Axis Motion
• Front Frame Brace and Rear Frame Brace or Frame brace
• Power Switch (minimal material) with AC Fuse Power Supply Socket
• Improved Y-belt Tensioner + Improved X-belt Tensioner. I highly recommend to use glass fiber belt instead of the stock metal wire fused belt.
• Additional Mosfet Module to minimize the risk of fire hazard: Heated Bed Power Expansion Module

Optional Anet A8 Improvements

These parts didn’t affect the Anet A8 printing quality or the security, but might be useful for you:

Post Printing

Step 1

Cut a strip of a sheet of sanding paper in the width of the stick. The length should be about the hole around the stick to the second hole + a little extra length.

Step 2

Wrap the strip around the stick from the edge of the first hole beginning to the edge of the second hole. You may cut the length in this step. You can either use your fingers or the top part to hold the strip in place.

Step 3

Screw the first screw in. Then you can tension the strip, lift the top part a bit and push the end of the strip between the top and bottom part. Use the second screw now.
Optional: You can use pliers to tighten the screws, but don’t overtighten it!

• Best: 608ZZ full metal or full ceramic ball bearing. 608-2RS with plastic caps and plastic spacer may also work, but it could melt.
• M3 screw 12mm or longer
• M3 spring or normal washer
• M3 nut
• Best: 45mm x 55mm soldering sponge in wet state. You can also use these ones and cut it to the right size, while it is wet. Maybe these already has the right size.
