Rowth Christian Academy is currently recruiting teachers. The school was established on February 11th, 2002, running only a Junior Secondary School. As of 25th of August 2004, RCA was upgraded to fit both junior and senior secondary.

RCA is located at Nung Ukot Itam, behind Jackie Jay Ltd, by Idoro Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. It is a mixed school. Her vision is to be a citadel for academic excellence by using available human and technological resources to improve teaching, research, and student development for a better sustainable tomorrow.

Rowth Christian Academy was approved for the National Examination Council (NECO) on January 17, 2010. Nine months later, the school was approved for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) (October 12, 2010). The school is well-equipped with computers, chemistry, and physics laboratories, a constant power supply, and trained security personnel.

RCA offers 14 subjects in Junior secondary: English Studies, Mathematics, Basic Science, Basic Technology, Civic Education, Agricultural Science, Christian Religious Knowledge, French, Ibibio, Computer Studies, Business Studies, Home Economics, Physical Education, and Social Studies.

Environmental Sustainability: Akwa Ibom State Government release conditions for sand dredgers and gravel miners

The Akwa Ibom State government moves to protect and provide a sustainable environment for the present and future generations.

The State government on Monday through the Ministry of Environment released conditions that all sand dredging and mining operators must follow to qualify for such operations in the State.

According to the release signed by Mr. Charles Udoh, the honourable commissioner for Ministry of Environment states that illegal sand dredging and gravel mining operations threaten environmental sustainability in the State.

The ministry raised concerns that “...state infrastructure and assets are currently being threatened, several communities have lost their sources of natural drinking water, farmlands are being devastated with an attendant loss of revenue”.

Early this month, three illegal miners were arrested by Enforcement Team of the ministry which Mr. Udoh confirmed has no form of documentation nor license for a mining operation in the state.

He says, “the activities of illegal miners are very disheartening in our State. Last week, the Enforcement Team of the Ministry of Environment arrested three of them and they are now in police custody. None of these three has any form of documentation, license or any form of environmental impact assessment plan...”.

Dr. Solomon Etuk, the Oku Ibom Ibibio and chairman, Council of Chiefs who double as the paramount ruler of Nsit Ibom also expressed concerns on environmental safety and plead with Mr. Udoh in his Palace during an on the spot inspection of an illegal mining site in the local government area, January 28, to ensure that ecology in the state is salvaged.

Chelsea FC victor as CAS delivers judgement on transfer bans

Chelsea Football Club transfer ban appeal ended in victory as the Court Arbitration for Sport (CAS)
reduced the two-windows transfer ban by FIFA to one which they have already served.
FIFA on February bans the club for breaching rules on signing of young players.

The blues are free to sign players from January when the transfer market open for business. Chelsea has expressed gratitude to the CAS for diligent attention given to their appeal

Frank Lampard, the Chelsea boss says the bans reduction is a positive outcome for the club.
"It's a positive outcome for us. It allows us to the potential to look at the market going forward, he said.

"So I'm pleased from a footballing level. It was never my business to get involved in the reasons why or the legal side of it," he added.

Lampard and Chelsea have reason to celebrate their Chrismas joyously. With the bans lifted, Chelsea currently sitting fourth on the Premier League table have a great chance to strengthen yet a team full of talent and potential.

The club accused FIFA of treating them differently from other clubs with the same case.
"The approach taken by FIFA to this case has been deeply unsatisfactory, not least as FIFA chose to treat Chelsea entirely differently to Manchester City for reasons that make absolutely no sense to Chelsea," the club said in a statement at the club official website.

If there is any device that we are panic about in the Globe is a bomb. It is the chief destroyer of national peace, hope, and development. Nigeria human bomb is a sophisticated one.

It is timely and powerful with little chance to stop its detonation. It is a bomb, which we cannot sleep comfortably with our two eyes closed as a nation without deactivating it. It is obvious that our population is bombing us daily. The United Nation estimates population 411 million put Nigeria third behind India and China in the World population ranking by 2050.

President Muhammadu Buhari said that the projected UN 411 million Nigeria populations by 2050 is a frightening one. He noted this in his address during a two-days welcoming retreat for new cabinet members. He added, “This is a frightening prospect but only if we sit idly by and expect handouts from so-called development partners. The solution to our problems lies within us”

From statistics of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Population Division of World Population Prospects: The 2019 Revision, Nigeria is currently ranked seven with estimates population of 200 million and 2.61 per cent shares of the seven billion global population.

The statistics also reviewed that urban areas in Nigeria are the most populated area in the country with an estimated population of 102 million (51.2 per cent) and with a contribution of 2.61 per cent to the seven billion World population.

Moreover, the population of Nigeria is worrisome especially when our government cannot even provide for half of these populations. As we speak, Nigeria employment level is not recommendable in anywhere in the World.

The projected population by 2050 means our country will no longer hold water as disease, hunger, crime, hate, unemployment and killing of ourselves by our ourselves would explode higher than expected for the fight to survival. It means Nigeria population by this time will be unruly, uncontrollable, and unbearable. Looking at the 200 million populations, we are dying of hunger and disease with our government showing little or no concerns at all.

How far can we as a nation go with 411 million populations? Analysing this projected population by the United Nation, the unity and peace of the country is at risk.

A country with more than 250 ethnic groups stands a little or no chance of survival with such explosive population estimates. This, especially, in a country like Nigeria where the government is incapacitated and the citizens putting all their in such a government.

However, what causes these Nigeria human bombs? We took a critical study of why Nigeria is about to be crowded with an award of excellence in the World population rather than in development and infrastructure.

Nigeria today is in this situation because our agents of socialisation are not functioning as expected rather joins in the force of negative criticism of the government. Some respected or decisions making institution in the country only focus on individual interest intends of that of the nation.

The religious institutions and our so-called spiritual leaders/councillors are only concerns about their religion and members rather than joining the government in the development of our land.

Birth control is seen as a sin by our religions so must not be implemented in Nigeria. The art of giving birth is now a welcome development in the country as some men married as many wives as possible without doing family planning.

Some men married wives with the excesses of looking for a male child even with 12 daughters. Some religious leaders encourage the men to be sure of having a male child who will take over from them and support them in old age as even the female children lack the capacity of taking care of their parents.

In addition, our government, which the people look up to, is nothing short of a family of friend institution or authority. They are only concerns with matter that will favour their families and friends rather matters of national interest.

The government is aware of her inability to provide for the current population but do nothing to prevent the increase from the coming years. The reason our government cannot and does not feel the need to change our status as undeveloped and overpopulated country in the continent of Africa is our inability to elect sound responsible and mentally fit leaders.

Blocking the projected prophesy of United Nation becoming reality in the county need the effort of all Nigerians indigenes and support of good wishers meaningful neighbours.

The Nigeria government and our religious institution must wake from sleep and their unconcern attitude toward the affairs of the country. It is obvious that our government and religious bodies that supposed to working hand-in-hand to regulate and ensure the development, and peace of Nigeria as one nation is not connected with each other.

It is now or never for us to act as a nation with one national identity and symbol. Our leader must engage all meaningful Nigerians in educating and opening our mind to see what is coming in 2050 if nothing is done about it now.

Politics must not come to play in this situation that we found ourselves. Just as noted by the president that the solution lies within us. "This is a frightening prospect but only if we sit idly by and expect handouts from so-called development partners. The solution to our problems lies within us”.

This subject is not humorous as it is a premise of great concern and centre of attention. And of course, should nothing be done regarding it, which the solution to the problem is in our hand, then the country is ready to witness a backlash that will not only affect this generation but generations yet unborn.

We at this point called on all Nigerians and well-wishers neighbour to stand up now and rescues this country from collapsing because uncontrolled, and unruly population.

The Nigeria human bomb should be broadcasted in churches and other religious institutions and they should draw the attention of members to it.

We also called the attention of the United Nation who projected the 2050 Nigeria population explosion. The UN should also collaborate with us in a time like this as one of her members.

A Profile Feature: One good personality is enough for a Community - MMCC

Nigeria is a country makes of geographical communities with low or no development making a life out of this World for the dwellers. Many personalities in Nigeria do not reside in their community even local government chairmen and councilors including supervisors. Some once appointment arrived, they disappeared to the urban area forgetting about their community and reasons behind the appointment.

However, this is not the case of Ikot Oku Usung community in Northern Ukanafun where the commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Udo S. Ekpenyong is an indigene and activities member of the community. Ekpenyong was born on 28^th August 1957 into the family of Samuel Ekpenyong Frank is happily married to Mrs. Elizabeth Udo Ekpenyong with four children.

Ekpenyong graduated from the University of Benin, Edo State, where he obtained a B.Sc degree in Microbiology and Enugu State University of Science and Technology for his M.Sc degree in Environmental Management.

Mr. Ekpenyong is known for his diligence, hard work, and started his career as a teacher and worked in various schools after which, he joined the private sector, where he served in various capacities. Later in 1995-1997, Ekpenyong was elected as Executive Chairman, Ukanafun Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. He was appointed as Acting State Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2003 and Special Adviser to the Governor on Political and Legislative Affairs, 2003-2005. He was also appointed as National Ex-officio member of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in 2012 – 2016. Until his first appointment as Commissioner into the State Executive Council in 2016, he was the Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of Frabeth Nigeria Limited.

He is a seasoned politician who started from the grassroots and rose steadily in the political scene from the local to the State and to the National level. Ekpenyong belongs to different professional groups including; Nigeria Union of Teachers, Association of Chalk Manufacturers of Nigeria, Nigeria Society of Microbiology, and Environmental Management Association of Nigeria.

He bags three merit awards before his appointment into the state executive council board; Award for Sports Patronage in Nigeria from Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in 1997, Award of Excellence from Niger Delta Youth Movement (NDYM) in 2004, and Paul Harris Fellow from Rotary Club International in 2005.

Nevertheless, Ekpenyong is one personality who has the interest of his immediate community at heart. During his tenure as the Executive Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, he refused to reside out the local government council quarters meant for staff of the council. Ekpenyong resided with his people and worked with them for the progress of Ukanafun Local Government.

Currently, Ikot Oku Usung community in Ukanafun Local Government Area is experiencing tremendous development in terms of infrastructure. Many indigenes of the community are now living a comfortable life under a comfortable shelter. The commissioner is currently constructing modern houses for many indigenes whose businesses are not enough to offer them one.

The people of Ikot Oku Usung Community praise the state governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for the inclusion of Mr. Ekpenyong in the State Executive Council.

Akwa Ibom 2019; Court upholds the election of Gov. Udom Emmanuel - MMCC

The Akwa Ibom State Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Uyo the state capital, on Thursday 19 September 2019, affirmed the victory of Gov. Udom Emmanuel, the Peoples Democratic (PDP) candidate in the 9 March 2019, governorship election.
The three-man panel, led by Justice A. M. Yakubu dismissed the petition of the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate of the March 9, 2019 governorship election, Obong Nsima Ekere on the ground of lack of merit.

Mr. Ekere and his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) had on the 29 May 2019 filed a petition challenging the re-election of Mr. Emmanuel of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who was declared the winner having recorded the majority number of votes from the March 9 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The APC and Mr Ekere, however, alleged that Mr Emmanuel did not win the election with the majority of lawful votes cast during the election and that the election was invalid by non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act (2015).

Reacting to the victory, the senator representing Akwa Ibom State North-East senatorial district, Sen. Bassey Albert (OBA) on his official Facebook page says, " this victory is the triumph of good over evil machinations of men", He congrats the governor and leader of the People Democratic Party - PDP, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.

The State Governor in celebration of his victory, dedicate it to only God and the good people of Akwa Ibom, this is contained in a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh which is available in the Vanguard.

The statement read in part, "today, the overwhelming victory that the good people of Akwa Ibom State gave me at the March 9, 2019, gubernatorial election was again reaffirmed by the Election Petition Tribunal.

Let me use this opportunity to thank our only God who saw us through the campaigns, the elections and the victory without any loss of lives. This could only have happened because we believe in God and His presence and guidance has never departed and will never depart from this state.

To you my dear and great Akwaibomites, thank you for the love, faith, belief and trust you have shown me, your prayers and hope in my capacity to take this state to a place and point that would stand out as a source of reference in what an inspired and people-centric governance can and should be.

The government of Akwa Ibom State seeks an official state symbol to promote the image of the state as well as the people. The state government inviting application from her indigene for the design of state Anthem, Flag and Coat of arms.

The announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, states that the official symbol is to reward creativity, promote the identity of the Akwa Ibom State people and brand the state as a model.

The announcement read in full; Entries are invited from indigenes of Akwa Ibom State for a State Anthem, Flag and Coat of Arms.

These official symbols are to promote our identity as a people and consolidate on our brand as a model state.

All entries must be original and should be submitted not later than midnight of Saturday, September 14, 2019.

Please note;

Entries for the anthem must not exceed 2 stanzas and must comprise of words and music.
Entries for design of the State Flag must comprise the colours green, white and orange only.
Entries for the coat of arms must be composed of symbols that can be related to Akwa Ibom State. The motto of the state must be incorporated into the design.

The Akwa Ibom state police command on Friday assured citizens of justice on the inhuman treatment of Godwin Abraham by Uduak Aniekan, a protocol officer to executive chairman of Abak Local Government Area and Nyakno Idongesit, a staff of Ukanafun Local Government Council.

The attention of Akwa Ibom State Police Command has been drawn to a video which has gone viral. In the said video, two young men were seen beating up another young man in a dehumanizing manner. The Commissioner of Police, CP ZAKI AHMED has condemned the act in strong terms, and has therefore ordered a more discreet investigation into the matter. However, it is expedient to bring to the knowledge of the public the initial state of affairs before the video went viral.

On the 9th of May, 2019, a case of robbery was reported by one Godwin Abraham Effiong, ‘m’ of Atai Otoro village, Abak Local Government Area through a petition against one Uduak Aniekan Sam Ekpo, ‘m’ and Nyakno Idongesit Ukpanah, ‘m’, all of Abak Local Government Area. The said petition was endorsed to SARS for investigation. During the course of investigation, it was discovered that the complainant (Godwin Abraham Effiong) is an event decorator, and the case he reported as robbery was assault and malicious damage. He asserted that sometime in April, 2018 he was contracted by the Executive Chairman of Abak Local Government Area, Barr. Imoh William to decorate an event centre for the sum of seventy-five thousand naira (N75, 000.00), but was not paid, as a result, he made a post on his facebook account calling the Chairman a slave. This infuriated the Protocol officer to the Chairman, one Uduak Aniekan a.k.a Alele who in-turn contacted one Nyakno Idongesit Ukpanah ‘m’, a staff of Ukanafun Local Government Council, they both conspired to beat up the complainant and asked him to make another post on facebook apologizing to the said chairman. In the ensuing milieu, the complainant alleged to have lost fifty thousand naira (N50, 000.00), and that his phone was damaged.

The Police on receipt of the said petition arrested the duo of Uduak Aniekan a.k.a “Alele” and Nyakno Idongesit Ukpanah for prosecution.
However, while investigation was ongoing, both parties met and agreed to settle their differences amicably. The alleged seventy-five thousand naira (N75, 000.00) was paid to the complainant, including the fifty thousand naira (N50, 000.00) he claimed to have lost and a new phone was also bought for him. On his part, the complainant having opted for a peaceful settlement, voluntarily withdrew the matter. University of Uyo Basic Studies Programme

The basic studies programme of University of Uyo, (Uniuyo), is a one-year programme designed to prepare students for the examinations of Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) which offered qualified students admission into 200 level degree programmes available in the institution through Jamb Direct Entry.

The programme is available for all faculties in the University of Uyo.

Requirements:

Admission into the programme is usually through a University screening test. Please note that this year it will be a computer-based test (CBT). At the end of the programme, successful candidates of the JUPEB examination will be admitted into 200 level in various degree courses in the University of Uyo provided they satisfy the admission criteria for such courses.

NOTE: JAMB Score is not required for admission into this programme. for the UTME 2019 Candidates can also apply as there will be no supplementary application for this programme.

Chelsea FC reveal reasons for Maurizio Sarri exit

Chelsea FC states reasons for Maurizio Sarri departure as the club boss.

According to an official statement on the Blues website, Sarri reason for leaving the club to join Juventus is to be in his native land and live closer to family.

In the statement, "...in talks we had following the Europa League final, Maurizio made it clear how strongly he desired to return to his native country, explaining that his reasons for wanting to return to work in Italy were significant.

'He also believed it important to be nearer his family, and for the well-being of his elderly parents, he felt he needed to live closer to them at this point".

Chelsea also appreciates Sarri for his time and services in the club.

'Maurizio leaves Chelsea with thanks from us all for the work he and his assistants did during the season he spent as our head coach, and for winning the Europa League, guiding us to another cup final and a third-place finish in the Premier League.

'We would also like to congratulate him on securing the role as big as any in Serie A and to wish him the best of luck for the future.’

'It also confirmed Sarri as just the fifth man to coach Chelsea to a European trophy. We wish him well for his time back in Italy," the statement in part.

Sarri who joined the West London club last summer from Napoli will lead Juventus and Christiano Ronaldo in the coming season.

Frank Lampard the former Blues all-time goalscorer who is currently in service with Derby County is the favourite replacement of the departed Sarri.
