Eight-time Grammy winning Producer and Songwriter Bryan-Michael Cox is appropriately named one of Billboard’s “Top 10 Producers of the Decade” and sits on Billboard’s “Hot R&B Song of the Decade List”, “Hot 100 Songs of the Decade List”, “Top 200 Albums of the Decade List” and is a 2009 Georgia Music Hall of Fame inductee. Melodies such as Usher’s “Burn”, “Confessions” and “You Got It Bad” and Mary J. Blige’s record breaking smash “Be Without You” managed to remain securely unbothered in the number one spot.

DAVINCHEUK producer, DaVinChe began his career producing Grime tracks, he has since turned his talents onto projects across various genres. From the sophisticated soul of Shola Ama and Kele Le Roc and the chart-topping heroics of Estelle ,Tinie Tempah , Wretch 32 and Tinchy Stryder then on to the uncompromising sounds of grime pioneers Wiley, Jammer, Skepta, Roll Deep, JME, Giggz, and Kano is one of the reasons why the self-taught studio producer and engineer was named by ‘Wire Magazine’ as a talent to watch. There is a subtext to DaVinChe making him more difficult to pin down or stereotype, he is a pianist and guitarist, who composes and arranges all styles (grime, hip hop, R&B, pop). DaVinChe has performed a classical concert for the BBC.

DJ DON CANNON
The platinum producer originally from Philadelphia and now based in the Atlanta, GA has produced a number of songs for prominent artists such as Young Jeezy, 50 Cent, Ludacris, Asher Roth, D Block, Big Sean, The Cool Kids and Fabolous. He has also worked alongside fellow Philadelphian DJ Drama on the popular mixtapes series Gangsta Grillz and the syndicated radio show Gangsta Grillz Radio. Originally from New York, DJ Trauma left the big Apple to attend college at Clark Atlanta University (CAU) in Atlanta, GA. During his tenure at CAU, DJ Trauma gained a fan base by showcasing his programming and mixing skills at college parties which shortly thereafter lead to a tour DJ appearance with Bad Boy Entertainment. On the international front, DJ Trauma was the official DJ for the 2009 Channel-O Awards after party in Johannesburg, South Africa and a special invited guest as a conference panelist, instructor and judge during the 2009 New Skool Rules in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. In addition, DJ Trauma has traveled extensively and provided musical navigation for premier nightclubs in Lagos, Nigeria, London, England, Dominican Republic, and Mexico. Nationwide, Trauma has been the featured DJ for annual red carpet events including MTV and BET Awards, Super Bowl, NBA All-Star, Essence Music Awards, Magic ShowLas Vegas and more. Trauma is also an accomplished producer and has worked Estelle, Interscope recording artist Verse Simmonds, hip hop duo Rock City, and new hip hop artist Billz.

Joseph ‘JP’ Patterson is a music journalist who is known for his in-depth knowledge on the UK’s underground music scene. Maria More is an accomplished Radio Personality, Voiceover Talent, Model, and Entrepreneur. The Baltimore Music Conference Sept 17 -20, 2008 continues to bring recognition to music here in Baltimore as well as worldwide and to those that make it happen! Now including film, television, photography, arts and all entertainment mediums, it’s fast becoming an overall media conference. Add in educational forums, visual artists, vendors, dancers, plus more and you have, undoubtedly, the hottest four day event in the Mid-Atlantic region!

One part music festival and one part educational conference, both presenting fun, networking opportunities and entertainment for all.

This year’s event will be held at several venues around town. Some are known for large up-scale events, some are more underground. Some host concert series and some are charming and quaint. Dive bar to posh nightclub and art gallery to theater… much like the BMC, all are known to draw a varied and diverse crowd

The WHEN? WHERE? WHY? & HOW?

This year’s event will be held September 17 - 20, 2008 with our musical showcases, each night at several Baltimore venues known for their support of music and the arts and also includes BAM (B’more Arts & Music), an outdoor festival on Saturday.

The conference sessions will be held Friday and Saturday at the Courtyard Marriott and The Hilton Garden Inn, both located in Harbor East, combining seminars, panel discussions, workshops, film presentations, networking parties and the Marketplace all central to the showcase venues. Selected for their downtown locations and eclectic amenities, these venues combined will easily accommodate the events 4,000+ expected guests. A diverse and eclectic audience, among which will include local and regional industry personnel, media, business and civic leaders, various artisans, area celebrities, musicians, DJs and music fans both locally and globally.

Randy Roper, has played an important role in Carolina music. In 2002, Roper began his career as a hip-hop journalist as a staff writer for Urban Pages Magazine, an independent entertainment magazine, which featured local and independent artists in Charleston, South Carolina. In 2004, upon his graduation from the University of South Carolina, Roper became Editor-In-Chief of Urban Pages, helping the magazine expand it's coverage to independent artists throughout the Carolinas, as well as major acts across the nation. Ron “Tricky” Montgomery

The role of entertainment manager is multi-faceted. Successful managers don several hats serving in numerous capacities simultaneously, all in the name of positioning their clients at the top. Ron “Tricky” Montgomery, CEO of TrickyBizness LLC is one of the most sought after talent managers in music, with an elite roster of the hottest songwriters, producers and artists on the charts. His twenty year tenure as a manager, promoter and consultant has allowed him to witness the many changes in the music industry especially over the last decade, yet he has managed to stay afloat. Today his reputation, by way of his client’s accomplishments, speaks for itself. “You have to keep moving and trying to make things happen. The powers that be are always watching and if you are always moving toward your goals, the opportunities will come. Once his reputation as a successful concert and party promoter was secure, Montgomery started a record label under the same parent company and began managing hip hop and R&B acts. It didn’t take long for the aggressive young manager to snag a deal with Interscope for his R&B act, and begin fielding offers from new clients. “People want to be in business with someone who’s going to make sense in the long run and not just the short run. As a manager you have to know what you have and what you can make happen,” Montgomery explains. After graduation, Montgomery re-located to Atlanta, GA to enroll in law school and re-structured his management company under the moniker TrickyBizness Entertainment.

Currently Montgomery’s roster reads like a who’s who on the billboard charts. On behalf of his clientele he has collaborated with industry superstars such as Jermaine Dupri, Dr. Dre, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, J Holiday, Beyonce and Dallas Austin, just to name a few. He has also secured deals for his clients with every major record label in existence to date. As a behind the scenes consultant, Montgomery has been instrumental in breaking countless #1 records along with brokering deals for various artists, songwriters and producers outside of his talented roster. Someone asked what new things would you like to see at future music conferences? I thought this was an excellent question that isn't asked often enough by conference organizers. Below is my response.

You'll also want to download and read the TRUTH BOOK has it has practical information for increasing your ability to get the most out of any music conference, music showcase or record pool meeting.

If the music conference is held on a college campus it may be wise to do it when classes our in session to draw off the energy from the student population.

Have the conference in an area that has free wifi, so people may network online while at the conference. This gives people the ability to present their website to potential and future clients while at the conference. Additionally, for those people who are e-commerce enabled it gives them the ability to conduct transactions on the spot, that's awesome.

If panels will be conducted limit the amount of speakers to ensure your presenters have the ability to share valuable information. I've been to some conferences where there are 10 speakers for a 60 or 90 minute panel. While this may appear impressive, because the conference is able to get many names on one (1) panel, it greatly limits the amount of time each speaker has to present qualitative information, wisdom and experience to attendees.

Unfortunately, many recording artists and music producers don't want to here the information that will truly empower them to boost their business -they'd rather just perform, but for those business savvy individuals you may want to have more meat when it comes to the information on the music business. For instance, having three (3) to five (5) panels is ideal when possible, even if this means having shorter discussions to cover more topics.

Bring in more speakers and presenters that are able to share information about the New Music Business Models, Internet Marketing, Mobile Content Delivery & Monetization and Making Money Online. Now that's Industry Pimping!

Hood Hard Day 3 Music Conference was held in Queen City (Charlotte, NC), USA. The event was well attended with emerging and aspiring recording artist, music pro ducers, music managers, songwriters, music publishers, djs and business consultants.

The event was lively enough with DJ Aaries -Hood Hard DJ spinning the latest Hip Hop Releases and a few classics every now and again.

Attendees appeared to be sponges soaking up pearls of wisdom from Allen Johnston -Music Specialist, Ian Burke -A&R, and other music business tastemakers such as TJ -TJsDJs, Dove -Allhiphop.com, Ayodele -Entertainment Lawyer, Isis -Word of the Streets Mag and many others. Fort Knox and Tariq -Strong Arm Management facilitated the popular beat battle. Strong Arm Management advises and manages Willie Joe whose poised for gigantic commercial success as he has a powerful underground following and continues to brighten the stage whenever he performs.
