Because of this great initiative, we are dedicating an hour of strong female artists and some supporting males to show the great talent that the middle east has to offer. Just to name a few, we have the queen of pop herself and Oscar nominee Yasmine Hamdan from Lebanon and the super inspiring Mira Awad as well.

The songs on the album feature interpretations from 6th century Arabic poetry that spoke of resistance against authoritarian regimes, which is still relevant today. We also have new music from Salalem with Ew3a Tedaye2 Nafsak to remind us that we should not take all things to heart but rather take it easy.

We also issue a challenge to our listeners to try and help us interpret Mashrou3 Leila’s latest song called 3 Minutes. Watch the music video with the translated lyrics and share your interpretations on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #Mashrou3Leila3minutes or #NaghamElHood and we will share the best ones on the show next week.

Don’t forget you can still take part in Dam’s #Who_You_R campaign by simply posting a video or picture to social media of yourselves doing something that would otherwise be considered a woman's job like cleaning, cooking, dishes, laundry etc and upload with the hashtag #Who_You_R and nominate your friends. Support the women in your lives by showing the rest of the world #Who_You_R and also get a chance to win Dam’s latest album!
