Congratulations to Joe Steffen for being named Illinois' Golden Owl Award grand prize winner, the state's highest honor for agricultural educators!

The Golden Owl Award, presented by the Illinois Association of Vocational Agriculture Teachers in partnership with Nationwide, Illinois Association FFA, Farm Credit Illinois, and Compeer Financial, recognizes agricultural educators for their dedication and impact on students.

Nominated by students, colleagues, and supporters, Golden Owl honorees receive $500 and an engraved plaque. As the state's Agricultural Educator of the Year, Joe received a $3,000 award and the prestigious Golden Owl Award trophy.

Four Newark High School seniors have been named Illinois State Scholars, an honor awarded by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission to the top 10% of seniors statewide based on standardized test scores and unweighted GPA. If bad weather or other emergency occurs during the day, please listen to local media stations for possible early dismissal information. For your child's safety, make certain your child knows ahead of time where to go in case of an early dismissal.
