<p>We all love easy upgrades to our vehicle.  Most of those times those easy upgrades aren’t very beneficial, and usually cosmetic.  When upgrading your air intake system that’s not the case.  A simple, and usually very easy upgrade to your air intake system will provide extreme benefits for your vehicle. A performance air intake will allow your vehicle to finally “breathe”, and take in more air.  From there it’s a chain reaction; the more air your vehicle takes in, the more combustion. The more combustion you have, the more power.  Not only do performance air intakes increase power, they will help you gain a better sound and gas mileage.  When deciding on an aftermarket intake system there two options you can go with, short ram intakes (SRI) or a cold air intake (CAI).  Depending on your vehicle the options available to you may vary &amp; each system has their own benefits. </p>



<h3><strong>Short Ram Intakes:</strong></h3>



<p>A short ram intake (SRI) is a great factory replacement and can usually be a direct fit replacement. When ditching your OE air intake you will break away from factory restrictions and increase your airflow.  Performance short ram intakes have smoother piping and open element air filters. Depending on the manufacturer you decide to go with, some SRI’s come with an air box.  </p>



<p>Air boxes are great if your vehicle does not have a heat shield, or if you have an issue with your radiator fan recirculating hot air around your engine bay.  If your vehicle is already equipped with a factory air box, replacing it with an aftermarket still has increased benefits.  An upgraded air box will certainly allow your new system to work more efficiently and continue to promote greater airflow.  </p>



<p>Power gains from a short ram intake are relatively low, however you can expect better miles per gallon, and throttle response.  A short ram intake also tends to be more cost efficient than cold air intakes, due to less piping. </p>



<h3>Cold
Air Intake:</h3>



<p>A
cold air intake (CAI) relocates your factory air intake outside of the engine
bay compartment.&nbsp; This relocation usually
moves the air filter into the upper wheel well area, or your front fender.&nbsp; You also will no longer have an air box
surrounding your filter.&nbsp; At its new
location, a cold air intake will bring in cooler air, which is more oxygenated,
to your engine.&nbsp; CAI’s also use large
diameter tubing that allows for better airflow.&nbsp;
All this cool air will result in more engine combustion, which again
results in more power.&nbsp; When upgrading to
a CAI you can gain anywhere from 5HP – 20HP. </p>



<p>There are some things to keep in mind though when installing a cold air intake.  A Cold air intake is now much closer to the ground then your previous set up.  This means it’s now exposed to more hazardous elements then it previously was.   A large puddle can now cause a major headache. Although it’s rare, you run the risk of hydro-locking your vehicle. Hydro locking is caused by water getting into your engine, and this can happen by your CAI sucking up water instead of air. Each manufacturer has their own unique way of preventing havoc that can be caused from a CAI.  </p>

<p>Upgrading your air intake system is not only an option performance cars but trucks and off-road vehicles as well.  Volant specialized in aftermarket intake systems for trucks, and jeeps. Volant has been around since 1998, and shook things up by entering a stagnant category. They introduced a world-class new to the market closed-box intake design. A closed box intake design is a fully enclosed filter box that’s designed to block heat and allows for maximum filtration protection in harsh environments. Volant has exclusivity to Powercore Filtration Technology through an agreement with Donaldson Filtration Solutions. This now gives Volant the ability to sell a high efficient, low maintenance, dry element air filters that excel in dusty, dirty, and harsh environments.  </p>



<p>Volant is not only exclusive to trucks &amp; jeeps.  Volant also carries a large selection of aftermarket intakes for both domestic and import vehicles.  The same Powercore Filtration technology is also available for these vehicles as well as the closed-box design. Each Volant intake utilizes a high-velocity venturi filter adapter, which as a result provides a smooth transition through into the intake tube for a much needed airflow improvement over the factory rubber tubing and resonator box. Volant&#8217;s Cool Air box is larger than the factory unit and incorporates a larger opening to collect a higher volume of colder ambient air increasing Horsepower and Torque. </p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Recently, as in Sunday October 1<sup>st</sup>, 2017…okay maybe not so recent, but it’s only 11 days ago, jeez, No Limit Motorsport, of Medford, New York, hosted a BBQ for fellow car nuts, Long Island Needs a Drag Strip or LINADS as we will affectionately refer to them. But, before we get into it, we already know what’s going through your mind “oh great, another blog about some car meet/bbq, so what and who cares?” and you know something, in most cases, you’d be right. However, this BBQ is extremely important, monumental even. It will forever go down in the history of domestic vs. import, muscle vs. exotic, Ford vs. Chevy, Subaru vs. Evo…I think you get the point, as a symbolic gesture delineating the unification of bad ass cars and those that love them!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>To give a little context for those of you that don’t know, LINADS was started approximately a little over a year ago, by a local Long Island racing family, John Cozzali, his wife Kathy, and step-son John Consoli. In a recent discussion with John Consoli, while attending their weekly Tuesday night meet at Jesus is Lord Church, located on North Ocean Ave just south of the Long Island Expressway, John said that LINADS is the birth child of his step-father’s frustration of sitting in traffic to and from race tracks in other states. While begrudgingly sitting in traffic, Mr. Cozzali had an epiphany to bring a drag strip back to Long Island, and as the saying goes “the rest is history”. <p>Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get back to why this BBQ/meet, is so important. In a world full of hate and division it is incredible to see two groups of likeminded people with such passion and love, so dedicated to bridging the gaps that isolate and alienate so many of us. Who would have known that something so simple as unifying the different categories of cars (muscle, import, exotic, domestic) could have such a prolific impact on not only the car community, but the local communities themselves! With the smell of fresh burgers in the air, the sun glistening off the cars, it was truly great seeing friends and families enjoying the event.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It wasn&#8217;t long after the surge of the NLM Evo X taking the internet by storm, videos of lining up with Lamborghini Huracans, GTR&#8217;s and others have went viral bringing attention to No Limit and our ability to build and create some high power 4b11&#8217;s! We had the luxury of working on another ETS Turbo Kit 6466 Evo X with comparable bolt-on&#8217;s and modifications to the NLM Evo. Radium engineering fuel system from the tank to the rails, over 8000cc of injection thanks to injector dynamics, upgraded clutch to hold the power, with more nearing the build list of the NLM Evo all installed in-house by our head tech Mo.</p>
<p>After completion of a boat full of supporting mods she hit the rollers in style for a Kagan tuned calibration. Didn&#8217;t take long for her to hit over 550whp on a stock longblock and a stock transmission with a twin disc clutch, unlike the built longblock, transmission and triple disc of the NLM Evo X which are the key differences between the two cars. I can sense another Lambo killer in the NLM future, stay tuned!</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Our own salesman Rich&#8217;s Evo has come a long way from its bolt on power. We took on the build with an incredible list of parts in hopes to make numbers for the record books. After all was assembled and installed, we hit the dyno for tuning. To break in the motor, the RIP STI Evo made over 600whp and 500tq! Keep in mind this was all done on a mainline dyno, low reading numbers compared to most other dynamometers. Once the break in was complete, we hopped back on the rollers to give her a go with some serious boost, timing and ethanol. On e75 and roughly 35psi, with minimal timing she made over 700! We ran into an issue with the ignition, so once she gets her upgraded coil packs, shell hit the rollers again and see what she can do at near 50psi of boost and almost pure 98% ethanol! stay tuned for the final numbers. Recently, he sat down with us to talk about the future and what he has been wanting the car to make. After an extensive sit down and weighing of options we got the ball rolling and ordered up quite a few goodies! After breaking the car in on the IAG built short block, joey hit the rollers for a NLM DBx Cobb Tuning Flex Fuel Pro-tune! He made incredible numbers while remaining extremely safe at 398 WHP and 486 TQ on only 20PSI and low timing advance! Cant wait to see this on the street hurting some feelings, Thanks Joey! 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A friend of our office manager Phil was approached regarding a possibly SR20DET build by his personal friend Miguel. Miguel was very particular about what he wanted and how much power he wanted to make. After a very detailed and meticulous build, the car is in its final stages. The overall goal was to have an extremely powerful show car where every single feature was a top priority. As we near its completion, we are in awe of the results and cant wait to post final dyno numbers and completion pictures! Thanks to everyone involved in the build of this beauty.</p>
