Picnic Utensil Carrier

The weather is warming up which means it’s picnic season at my house. Whether it’s a barbecue in the backyard, a picnic at the park, or eating around a campfire, food just seems to taste better when it’s eaten outside. I like picnics to be a little special so I made this picnic utensil carrier to be included in the picnic basket.

Welcome to Day 31 of 31 Days of 15 Minute Organizing

Hi Friends! Can you believe this is the last day of 31 Days of 15 Minute Organizing? How did you do? I hope you’ve been able to follow along and I hope you have been motivated to continue to take just a few minutes a day to get your spaces organized. If you’re behind, don’t worry. You can catch up at anytime. There’s a link to all the posts in this series at the bottom of this post.

Today’s challenge is super easy. All you need to do is print out this Daily Cleaning Schedule and put it in a place to motivate you. Keeping up on the daily chores is a huge step in keeping your home in order. It will take a little more than 15 minutes all together, but you don’t need to do them all at one time. Schedule your day so it makes it easier for you to accomplish your tasks. We’re all different so do what works for you. Don’t feel like you have to do everything yourself. I like to have all members of the household contribute in some way each day.

Welcome to Day 30 of 31 Days of 15 Minute Organizing

Mornings can be hectic and since they set the tone for the whole day we need them to go as smoothly as possible. That’s why I start my Morning Prep the night before. Here are some ideas I use for a more relaxed morning.

Welcome to Day 29 of 31 Days of 15 Minute Organizing

Get your timer ready and let’s get those Eating and Cooking Utensils organized. The first step is to get rid of too many duplicate utensils to save on space and get rid of clutter. I have come to realize in my old age that we really don’t need as much as we think we do. Do you really need 6 spatulas unless you’re a restaurant?

If you keep a jar of cooking utensils by the stove go through that first. Only keep the utensils you use on a regular basis in there. How many utensils can you take out so it’s no longer overcrowded?

Welcome to Day 28 of 31 Days of 15 Minute Organizing

I’m excited about the 15 minute organizing challenge today. Make school lunches for the week and store them in the fridge until the day you need them. Since it’s Wednesday you can start this week for only a couple days or save these ideas for next week. You will only have to think about lunches once and not worry about them for the rest of the week. Yay for non-rushed mornings!

My kids love homemade lunchables and they’re so easy to make for the week and store in plastic containers. I make the nacho and crackers & cheese lunchables then add the fruits, veggies, and a little treat. They usually drink water for lunch or sometimes milk from the cafeteria. I added carrots, grapes and a couple cookies to this week’s lunchable. You can even make these lunches if you homeschool. It’s one less thing you have to worry about during the week.

Welcome to Day 27 of 31 Days of 15 Minute Organizing

Spring is the perfect time to get all the outdoor stuff de-cluttered, cleaned and organized. You can do it quickly if you go through the kids stuff first. Have them help so it will go even quicker. Set the timer for 15 minutes and get to work.

31 days of 15 minute organizing 4

By keeping Summer things in a basket they can easily be moved to the garage until next Summer. Which makes it very convenient to get them out in the Spring. Remember the best way to store things is to store for easy retrieval. Quickly try on flip flops in the Fall before you store them away and toss the ones that no longer fit. Get rid of useless stuff and expired lotions and sprays before packing them away in the Fall. Everything will be ready when you bring it back out in the Spring.

31 Days of 15 Minute Organizing – Day 26: Keys

Welcome to Day 26 of 31 Days of 15 Minute Organizing

I have another quick little project for you today. Do you have a lot of keys? Do you misplace them or have a hard time finding the one you need? These ideas have helped me and I hope they will help you.

31 days of 15 minute organizing 4

Start by having an exact place to hold your keys. This will probably be different for everyone, but it just needs to work for you. We have these keys hanging by the entry into the garage: mailbox key, bike lock, gate lock and electronic garage door opening. I have duplicates of some of these keys on my key ring but these also need to be available to everyone in the family so they are kept in a place that is convenient for everyone. You can even go a bit further and attach a little label to each key. I don’t feel the need to do that since we all know which key is which, but it’s a good idea if you don’t.

Welcome to Day 25 of 31 Days of 15 Minute Organizing

Do you have a donation box set up somewhere in your home? Today’s task is to have a box or bag ready to place things in that you are going to be donating. It’s easier to be aware of making donations when you have a box or two easily available.

31 days of 15 minute organizing 4

Place a box or two in places where you have space and that are convenient to you. The master closet, hall closet, or coat closet are all great places. It can be a cardboard box or you can place a garbage bag in a plastic box for convenience and easy removal. Depending on how fast your boxes fill up take them to be donated every week or two.

Welcome to Day 24 of 31 Days of 15 Minute Organizing

Today’s organizing task is going to be quick and easy. Basically you’re just making sure your Cleaning Supplies are where you use them. Just like everything else, having your supplies close at hand will be an extra benefit when it comes to saving time.

31 days of 15 minute organizing 4

I saw this on the internet a few weeks ago and it’s pretty true in my case. This wasn’t exactly how it was worded but it was something like, “Organized people are just lazy and don’t like to hunt for things.” This is so true in my case. Being organized helps save me time and I like not having to hunt for things.

I like using a caddy with a handle to hold all my cleaning supplies. It’s easy to take room from room and I can get the jobs done faster having everything I need with me. Just make sure to replenish the caddy once you use things.

Welcome to Day 23 of 31 Days of 15 Minute Organizing

Today we’re going to spend 15 minutes and organize the car. I realize you probably won’t get through the whole car so we’re going to focus on the front area today. Grab a garbage bag and get ready to toss out things you probably haven’t seen for years.

31 days of 15 minute organizing 4

There’s not much extra room in a car so only keep things in there that you actually use. I use a desk organizer up front to hold things I need easy access too. There’s also a clipboard and a pad of paper I keep in the organizer. We travel a lot so this is the perfect place for all the cords we need for our electronics and other things.
