This supply drive will go until November 15, 2020!

At Black Mesa, the federal government considers many people trespassers on their ancestral homeland. Many of the resisters who have refused to relocate to make way for Peabody Coal’s mine are now elders, having fought this battle since the ‘70s. Now, the community of Black Mesa needs our support to weather both the pandemic and winter. That’s why in both Salt Lake City and Logan, Utah, we’re collecting supplies that members of the community have requested.

At 8,000 feet, winter in this high desert landscape can be extremely cold and difficult. Travel can be hard and often out of the question. We aim to bring supplies down to the Black Mesa community before the cold weather hits, at the beginning of November.

Below is a list of requests. If you’re able to donate, you can either purchase the items and bring them to a drop-off site, or donate funds toward their purchase. We’re also taking firewood, if you have any from that windstorm to spare!

You can also donate cash! When donating, please make a note that it’s for Black Mesa support under “You may enter specific project here.”

We do this work in the spirit of solidarity with people who are defending the land and our collective future from coal mining, through their presence on the land and tireless resistance. This effort was prompted by a call for support from Black Mesa elders who are coordinating supply distribution, and whose dedication to their community’s wellbeing is ceaseless.
