For some, if not all, might have a lingering questions like how do pineapples grow? Where do pineapples grow? Understanding the how do pineapples grow will kind of answer these questions, we can show you two methods of how to grow a Pineapple plant. The video above is showing you the first method, growing pineapple from its fresh crown, the spikey pointy crown that you found on top of a pineapple fruit when you buy such fruits from the store.

Another way that you can grow a pineapple is by growing pineapple from seeds that you can harvest from a fresh pineapple fruit itself. Yes, surprisingly, there are pineapple seeds, and the video below will comprehensively show you the secrets of finding these seeds since they are hardly visible and you have to know where to find them in order to actually get one of its seed. We will also show you how you can germinate these seeds and grow them indoors, and turn these seeds into seedlings that you can then transplant later on outside in a container, when they are ready.

As you can see in the VIDEO above, we converted an empty milk jug into a do-it-yourself (DIY) plant drain / drainage tray. We been buying drain pans for years for gardening small plants and plant seedlings that we plant in small pots. We like using a tray or pan for each of our potted plants in order to save some water for watering the plants, since most of the water used to water the plants will be catch by the tray or pan below, so the water that would have been wasted without using a pan or tray will be saved and recycle to water the plant, and it will keep the soil a little moist longer especially during the summer time when the sun is baking hot and most of the water in the plants evaporates pretty quickly after few hours of heat from the sun.

There are all kinds of drain pans and trays available in the market including hard plastics, clear plastics, metals, ceramic, clays, etc. We have used most of it over the years, but the ceramic and clays although highly decorative breaks sometimes and they are usually the most expensive ones. The plastic trays are usually the cheapest specially the clear ones but they usually rot and fade in the sun after just a year or so of use being expose to the sun constantly 24 hours seven days a week. And since we do several plantings that needs a tray for each planters, you do the math, things can add up, and for something that will only last for a year and have to be toss to the garbage or recycle bin, that is why I came up with using the empty milk jugs turned into a do-it-yourself (DIY) plant trays, quite often these days :-) Most households consume milk everyday, so there is hardly a shortage of empty milk jug supplies for most of us. Just wait for few days for the milk to get consumed, and you have another plant tray you can use for the planters. The best part of it all is its FREE, and hardly any spending guilt once it rot after one year of use because you got it for free, and to save the environment you can still recycle the milk jug plastic tray and put it in the recycle bin after you have a year use of it as a plant tray.

Due to its not so attractive appearance, its not very decorative, so I would only recommend using the milk jug trays for gardening vegetables, growing plant seedlings, and use the nicer trays bought in the store for decorative pots with flower plants, etc.

Over the years, we planted several hundreds of daffodils bulbs in our yard. We love daffodil flowers because they are so easy to maintain, or they hardly require any maintenance at all. Despite the low maintenance and care-free characteristics of having daffodil flowers, they still give stunning bright colors during the spring time, so its not like you are making any compromise or have to choose between having a pretty colorful yard or not wanting to water all the time. Usually, daffodils bloom around the month of March to April of every year (in the United States). They are easy to grow, easy to plant from bulbs, they grow back year after year, and they tend to multiply more bulb clumps yearly because every single bulb planted undearneath the ground can multiply into a clump of new bulbs, which is then highly recommended that these clumps of bulbs be separated and divided inorder to decrowd the bulbs, inorder to give space for each new bulb a room to grow as its own flower plant. These new young bulbs will also multiply on its own later on, so its best not to plant each bulb too close to each other, to give room for new room for the each new bulbs and let it become its own flower plant.

Nowadays, there are several diffent varieties of daffodils available in the market, different colors, new breeds, etc. The most common ones are the yellow color. If ever you are considering landscaping your yard with high hopes of having some bright colors during the springtime, you might want to consider having daffodils in the plan, you do need to keep in mind that daffodils only blooms around 2-3 months in a year, so that you need to have other types of plants planted with them or nearby that will bloom in other seasons like fall if you want an all year round colors in the same spot of the yard. Daffodils are great to be planted near fencing or borders, and they work extremely well together as a group because they have more visual effect when several daffodils are planted together as a group because they stand out and pop out more visually.
There are wide variety of Canna Lilies available out there, some have plain green leaves, while others have colorful stripe patterns in their foliage. The widely popular and available colors of Canna Lilies are the red, orange, and yellow, or a combination of these colors.

From a distance its easy to notice the medium size flowers of Canna Lilies blooming beautifully because of their color and the bountiful big constrasting leaves surrounding the flowers, highlighting the flowers even more. And because of their bright attrative colors, they are great attractors of hummingbirds. So if you love to invite hummingbird in your yard, you might want to plant some of the red Canna Lilies because they are widely attracted to color red for food.

When you buy Canna Lilies from the store for gardening, a lot of them are packed and sold in this manner, rhizome forms. Although, you can buy an already growing plant, in which all you need to do is transplant for instant gratification, buying it in a plant form rather than in a rhizome form is usually a lot more expensive. Buying it in a plant form with leaves and stems on it already is a lot more expenseive because basically all you have to do is transplant it in the ground or planter, and wait for the flowers to bloom, considering that you do water and occassionally fertilize them too. One thing to remember, if you ever buy them in rhizome forms you need to make sure that you remember where you actually plant them so that you can tend and water them while they are buried below ground because planting with rhizomes means you will plant them below the ground and nothing will be visible until they started to grow stems, leaves, and come out of the ground.

Once planted and they mature as a plant in your yard, they can grow as tall as 4 to 6 feet in height which will definitely make a huge presence in your yard. They can grow tall and multiply wide which is great for landscaping a big plain yard. Being planted at the right climate, and given right care and maintenace it might need, they can come back year after year and naturally they can multiply from underground through its rhizomes. Each following year, you will notice that they cover more ground. The more years you have the plant, it can multiply from below and grow more plants from it.

The good news is, you do not have to dig the rhizomes below to plant more Canna Lilies in other parts of your yard or garden. If you have not heard already, you can actually grow Canna Lilies from their seeds too. In a natural cycle without you taking the effort and initiative to grow them from their seeds, the Canna Lilies can still multiply from seeds but it could take years for these seeds to germinate and grow because it has a very hard outer shell that will be hard to break in a natural environment. But with some techniques available to grow Canna Lilies from seeds, you can fast forward the cycle and easily grow these magnifienct flowers from its seeds rather than wait for nature to break the seed hard shell which could possibly take several years before they do.

Here is a video clip of growing Canna Lily from seeds. This video is your getway to speed up the multiplication process of your Canna Lily from its seeds, without waiting for nature to let it grow naturally:

We recently been thinking of building another storage shed in our backyard to store some of our garden equipments, outdoor furnitures, etc. I always prefer to keep our shovels, rakes, brooms in a storage shed and out-of-sight when not in use. And also when they are put away then they are away from the sun exposure which will definitely prolong the lifespan of our gardening tools. Also, during fall and winter season when the weather is pretty much wet or cold and chilly outside most days for several months that none of the outdoor furnitures will be used anyways, I like having them put away so that they can be re-use the following summer or spring. There is no reason for them to be outside all year when we can only use them during summer and spring times because if we leave them outside all year ling then the sun will destroy the materials overtime with prolong and constant exposure to the damaging sunlights. With all the things we need to store and we are out of storage space in the house, we desperately need a new storage shed to put in our yard.

We checked out some pre-made storage sheds in three different home improvement stores this week and none of them really meet what we need and want, shape-wise and quality-wise. Although they have several size selections and customization options, the more we customize to what we want the higher the price, uggh. We built a storage shed in the past solely by ourselves so I know that we can do so much better building the shed ourselves because we have the full control of what materials to use for the construction, and controlling the cost of the whole project is so much easier when we will be able to control the type of materials we use for the project. As long we have a proper storage shed plan handy and ready to follow. It's really not that difficult if you are quite a handyman and do-it-yourself type of person that knows how to hummer nails and operate saw and screwdrivers.

Basing on our experience, building a storage shed, assembling it is only part of the process, because you still have to figure out what the shed is going to look like, and that is the first part of the process and i think it is the more difficult part because it involves the planning stage which includes determining the materials and shape of the structure and make sure it is safe, etc. Nobody should have to go through the headache of figuring structural plans of shed anymore because they are already available. So if you are thinking of building a storage shed and doing it yourself also, there are wide variety of storage shed plans that you can purchase, so you dont have to re-invent the wheel when its already available for you, save you time and money. With all the different designs available, its easy to find the right shapes and sizes that you really want to put in your yard. 8MKQYTV9626Q

I love to garden a lot, but sometimes i get busy with so many different things thats why i prefer plants that does not require a lot of maintenance but gives out a lot of beauty and character to the yard. One of my favorite plant for landscaping is Heavenly Bamboo Nandina because not only is it almost maintenace free, i like its simplicity and works well in different seasons: summer, spring, winter and fall.

At spring time Heavenly Bamboo Nandina produce a mixture of green and copper-tone colors leaves. At summer time, they have this nice green foliage. Their leaves have slight similarity to a regular bamboo plant leaf characteristic, somewhat pointy and skinny, but there is definitely a difference in the shape because regular bamboo have longer and skinnier leaves. Heavenly Bamboo Nandina can be planted best in a sunny location for best results in color transformation of the plants.

During fall season, thats when you see the magic happen. Their leaves transform into this vibrant reddish purple tint and instantly add fall colors in your backyard. If you dont have any trees in your yard that transform into different red colors during fall season, you can definitely rely on Heavenly Bamboo Nandina to give you some vibrant fall display. They also produce this deep red wine berries that adds color to the plant.

So next time, if you are thinking of doing landscaping around your yard and you are considering for an easy to maintain or hardly no maintenance plants, think of Heavenly Bamboo Nandina. All it need is an annual pruning, to shape and keep its shape and keep the plant healthy and last for many years. During first planting, you need to water them regularly inorder for their roots to get established, but once its established and become hardy to the surrounding, it will continually give you different shades leaves throughout the year and is drought tolerant so you dont have to water them every single day anymore!

We cleaned up our palm trees with old dead branches. And underneath all those branches are bunch of brown fibers that are wrapped around the palm tree. Before you decide to toss it in the garbage can, you might want to save it for some possible uses that you never thought of.

These fibers are intricate weaved pattern of tiny strong natural fibers thats can be placed at the bottom of your flower pots to drain your water down but not the soil, so it serves as a filtering device, keep the soil but drain the water. Normally, we use rocks at the bottom of the pots to keep the dirt from washing away, but rocks can be heavy. As a great alternative, these palm fibers can be put below the soil in 2 or 3 layers to minimize the soil from going thru the bottom holes of the pots.

Another great use of palm tree fibers are for your arts and crafts projects. Yes, the possibilities are endless. With some glue or other tools, you can use these fibers in so many different ways, its just a matter of being creative with it.

I was out in our yard one time and I heard a peckering noise up in the tree. The noise had been going on for quite some time. I had no idea what it was but I know it was coming from the tree above me at that time. When I scanned the tree following where the noise came from, I saw a bird peckering in the side of it. When I saw the bird, I decided to grab my camera really quick hoping it would not fly off while I ran for the camera. Luckily, the bird was still there, so I was able to take some few shots. I heard of woodpeckers bird busily peckering trees before but I never actually saw one until this one. Here are some shots i got:

Last fall, we planted a bunch of red tulips bulbs in different areas of the yard both front and back yard. It was hardwork being the soil so compact and dry with not much water in the ground left. Digging the holes is not an easy job, but we convince ourselves that all our hardwork is going to be rewarded. Indeed, every single bulb that we planted survive. Since we planted them in groups they stand out more and more noticable. That noticable, some of the peopl in the area complimented on it.

The red tulips stands out really well near the green gass lawn, they pop out like a sore thumb. Having them in group all in the same color, also make each tulip flowers seem larger because its easy to notice them from afar being in the same little area together, it creates bigger visual impact compare to having each of them scattered way far apart in different parts of the yard.

I never went to any cooking school, so the recipes that I know how too prepare are basically the ones that I observed from someone cooking or baking in the kitchen. Our family doesnt use zucchini very often, or I dont remember my mother or grandmother using zucchini at all, thats why I am not familiar with the vegetable.

Few months ago, we went to a store and buy cucumber seedlings because we love fresh salads and we put thin sliced cucumber in our salads. I dont know what happened because the supposed to be cucumber plants that we bought in the store ended up being zucchinis, and I have zero knowledge about cooking zucchinis at that time. We also realized that we got the huge zucchinis too, the ones that grow 12-14 inches long and 4-6 inches in diameter. Maybe what happened is that someone unknowingly or accidentally swapped plant labels in the store? I could only guess!
Inorder not to waste any of it, we gladly give some for free to friends and neighbors. I also checked online to see what are my options to prepare zucchinis. And I found out that its commonly use around the US for cooking. You can just slice them and put them in the barbeque as side dish for your barbequed meat. Others dip them in batter and fry sliced zucchinis. You can also cubes zucchinis and put them into your meat vegetable recipes, or slice them diagonally and put them in your chow mein recipe. You can also made bread out of zucchinis! My favorite new finding is making zucchini cake, they are suprisingly good, not to mention healthy too!

Zucchini plant requires a little bit of space to grow because they crawl into the soil and branch more leaves. How they mature reminds me of a centipede, the main stem grow longer and crawl into the surrounding soil and have bunch of leaves branching all over it (main stem). A zucchini leave is quite huge, they resemble the size on an elepant ear plant, which can grow around 12 to 14 inches. I am not sure if its just me, or its really known that the pipe-like stems of a zucchini can be really itchy because of all the spikey fibers in them. So after messing with zucchini plants, I have to wash my hands, arms, and legs with soap right after.

A zucchini plant produce a deep yellow flowers as the zucchini vegetables are developing. The yellow flower is kind of nice and big, see photo above for the flower shot. In the beginning, my first encounter of zucchini is a surprise and accidental, but its versatility and all its many uses in the kitchen, i am confident we are going to have it more often in the kitchen than we ever did before, and its probably going to be one of the regular vegetable that we will be using nowadays. What about you? Do you eat zucchinis?

The banana heart is usually composed of deep crimson red or maroon color layers skin housing young banana tender fruits as it undergo development and grow bigger to become banana fruits.
There are several varieties of Camellia flowers that can be found in some countries. The camellia flower photos shown here are from our garden. Love the type of camellia flower plant we have because it has stunning pink petals neatly layered in stunning formation of delicate petals similar in look to a lotus flower.
You may buy them as young plant but normally bougainvillas can possibly grow around 4-5 feet tall and wide as well, so it is wise to consider planting them in places where there is space to grow wide and tall and not fight with your other plants.

Bougainvilla plant is not very ideal for all household because of its very thorny stems, more like rose plants. So if you have kids and toddlers that are frequent in areas that you are considering of planting bougainvilla flower plant, it might not be a great idea afterall because the thorns can pose as danger to them.

I truly admire and so amazed how well they put extra thought and creativity in trimming the dead leaves and branches off these trees and making them look like a bowl or a basket or a work of art!

At first glanced, i thought it was a fake plant, but then its not. Just a well-taken care live plant, receiving great deal of maintenace and attention. Ive seen a lot of palm trees my whole life, many are not well trimmed in comparison to these ones, well-manicured.
Many people carve their creativity and style in pumpkins. I saw ton of different halloween decorations this year, some turning their front yard into cemetery theme, others share their habitat with huge spiders and web, some have faces and monsters greeting visitors and passersby, while others have the glowing appearance of pumpkins all over the place. So far, the only halloween decor I saw that I took a picture of this year is a parade of pumpkins we saw at the mall here in northern CA, see photo above. Happy Halloween!

Usually, we just buy a piece or two of tomato in the grocery store when we have plan to use it in our next meal. But there are times that we have quick fix meals and/or unplanned meals that sometimes need this and that, ingredients like tomatoes, and we usually don't have it stock in our refrigerator because most fruits and veggies that are bought in the store don't have a very long shelf life. In a matter of days, they are already rotten, and we have no choice but throw them away, and its a waste of money!

That is why we decided to plant some Early Girl tomatoes in our backyard last spring. And we been harvesting huge red tomatoes from it ever since! We really like the taste of Early Girl tomatoes because it is so sweet and juicy as well, and they are shinny healthy red. These days, when we need tomatoes in our cooking, all we have to do is step outside and pick some from our garden. Oh, we don't use any spray or pesticide, so we know that it is safe to eat!
We have absolutely no idea where they come from. They were previously not around, but as soon as we started using fertilizers and peat moss in our flowers and lawn, all of a sudden they started showing up in our garden and lawn too. But we are not sure if the added nutrients lead to the growth of these fungis.
These mushrooms can grow as big as eight (8) inches in diameter, which was the biggest one we found so far.
Its been known that there are type of mushrooms out there that are not good for dogs, and for safety sake we just assume that all mushrooms are unsafe for our pets, to keep our dogs safe while they play in their own yard.
Although, for some gardeners, this flowering plant can be one deceiving beauty because they are widely considered as weeds and a complete nuisance in most gardens and lawns. But at the same time, Dandelion have beneficial purposes for both in culniary and medicinal uses. Dandelion is such a popular plant that some places even celebrate a Dandelion Day every year!

The Dandelion clock is one of the most popular subject of photography in a Dandelion plant, but the seed components of this clock is so intricate and delicate that a mere blow of a wind against it will burst this clock open, each seed as light as a feather, easily spreading each seeds in the air, which when this happens, you can definitely expect more Dandelion weeds growing in your garden or lawn the following year! For flower garderners and lawn people, knowing that you just planted and spread more Dandelion seeds in your yard is a complete nightmare.

If you see a full and undisturbed Dandelion clock in your garden or lawn, pick it off from the plant slowly and place it in a solid container or trash can carefully, making sure that you wont be shaking it off and dropping the seeds all over.
