Spence (28-2, 22 KOs) hadn’t been seen in the ring since July 2023, where he was thrashed in a ninth-round stoppage defeat to Terence Crawford for the undisputed welterweight world title, and he came out of exile to take on former WBO super welterweight champion, Tszyu (28-3, 18 KOs), who had won twice since losing to Sebastian Fundora in a bid for the WBC crown last July.

Spence looked hurt in the opening round, as a trio of right hands landed to his head and he was having to punch to keep his opponent at bay, a nice left hand finding the mark for the Texan in the second.

‘The Truth’ shaded the third, but the Australian’s size was proving tricky to deal with, and Spence’s timing was understandably off for a fighter with such a long lay-off.

A straight right from Tszyu knocked the 36-year-old’s head back in the sixth, and a brilliant right hand connected a round later, which constantly found a home.

Tszyu was coming on strong, with Spence powerless to stop the momentum, his right hand seemingly not able to miss, and although the visitor stopped the rot in the 10th and let his hands go in the penultimate round, it looked like too late an effort.

He took the last round off, allowing Tszyu to land another right that drove Spence towards the ropes, and the fight came to its conclusion.

One score of 118-110 and two at 117-111 confirmed the win for the 31-year-old at the Afterpay Arena in Sydney, with Spence announcing his retirement post-fight.

“I answered a lot of questions for myself,” he said post-fight.

“Now it’s time to go home with my family and start a new life.

“Yeah for sure [it’s the end of the road].

“I’ve got my faculties in tact. My money is good.”

Reda overcomes Fleming

The undercard lost a solid fight late on, with Stephen Fulton weighing a whopping six-and-a-half pounds over the limit for his bout with Liam Wilson.

Three 10-round fights went ahead, and the unbeaten Ahmad Reda went that distance for the third time as he took a points win against Paul Fleming (28-2-2, 18 KOs).

Scores of 99-91, 97-93 and 96-94 clinched victory for Reda (9-0, 6 KOs).

Remaining Undercard

Callum Peters (8-0, 7 KOs) won early again, this time in the seventh round of his middleweight match with Ivan Ricardo Actis (13-1-1, 9 KOs) after dominating every round.

Paolo Aokuso (11-0, 6 KOs) claimed the vacant IBF Intercontinental light heavyweight belt as he knocked Luis Antonio Tejeda (12-1-1, 9 KOs) out in the final frame, having dropped the Dominican in the fifth round.

Heavyweight novice Brandon Grach (6-1, 4 KOs) was a points winner against Ike Pluto (5-3, 1 KO), and debutant Tina Rahimi (1-0) started with a win on the cards against Sacha Ryan Dryden (2-3).

Joshua survived two first round knockdowns before battling back to viciously knock out Prenga in the second round in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

The 36-year-old suffered the 10th and 11th knockdowns of his career, but dismissed claims his punch resistance has gone when quizzed in the post-fight press conference.

“I got back up,” he said.

“That happened in what the first 20 seconds of round one?

“Got back up, took a beating, stood the storm and came back in round two.

“Boxing is not pretty.

“That is resistance.

“Resistance is spirit. Resistance is durability. Resistance is everything combined.

“It’s not just one thing.

“I was in there with someone who has knocked out 20 people.

“He’s a strong guy and he hit me with a good uppercut.”

Joshua’s long overdue showdown with Tyson Fury looked on the brink of going up in smoke, only for the Watford man to hurl himself back from the jaws of defeat and send the Albanian crashing to the canvas and unable to beat referee Luis Pabon’s count.

Fury, who halted Mariusz Wach in seven rounds a day earlier in Thailand, was not in attendance at the Jeddah Superdome.

The pair have signed to fight each other and their long-awaited clash is expected to take place in November, although a location is unknown.

‘AJ’ called out the 37-year-old after his dramatic victory over Prenga.

“Have we got Tyson Fury in the room?” he said post-fight.

In world title action on the undercard, Hamzah Sheeraz defended his WBO super middleweight title for the first time, but laboured in a majority decision win against Simon Zachenhuber (29-2, 18 KOs).

Sheeraz (24-0-1, 19 KOs) struggled to impose himself, and one judge ruled their meeting a 114-114 draw, while the remaining judges tallied 116-112 and 115-113 to ensure that Sheeraz kept his belt.

Kelly sees off Agyarko

Josh Kelly retained his IBF super welterweight title for the first time, as he took a close points win against the previously unbeaten Caoimhin Agyarko. 

Kelly (19-1-1, 9 KOs) got off to a dominant start, but Agyarko (18-1, 7 KOs) warmed into the contest, only to be denied on the scorecards.

Kelly, who sported a horrific cut on his nose, took victory by two scores of 115-112 and a third at 114-113 and set up a potential unification with WBA and WBO champion, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.

Reito Tsutsumi (5-0, 4 KOs) could well be a future star, and the Japanese super featherweight took a second-round win against Alvino Herrera Meza (18-1-2, 11 KOs) in his first scheduled ten-rounder.

In eight-rounders, Mikie Tallon (15-0, 4 KOs) took a rare stoppage win, a body shot wiping out Orlando Pino (17-4, 11 KOs) at super flyweight.

Fury called for a long overdue bout with ‘AJ’ post-fight, but admitted he was doubtful the 36-year-old would agree to face him, despite both men already signing to fight each other.

Fury and Joshua are fighting a day apart and ‘The Gypsy King’ kept his end of the bargain, with the referee waving off the contest, with Wach not making it to the eighth round at the Max Muaythai Stadium in Pattaya.

The bout was fought in front of around 1500 fans and Fury was dominant from the opening bell.

The 37-year-old was sharp on his feet and was effortlessly switching between stances, as the Pole struggled to keep up with his pace and accuracy and looked all of his 46 years.

Wach, coming into the clash off a defeat, caught the Brit with a pinpoint right hand in the second, but Fury remained in control, connecting to head and body with regularity.

The two-time heavyweight world champion was boxing seamlessly on the backfoot against his outmatched and veteran foe, who ate around 10 jabs in the fourth round.

Fury, who came out of retirement to outpoint Arslanbek Makhmudov in April, was showboating by the fifth, landing five straight uppercuts, with the 46-year-old tiring.

Fury looked to finish proceedings by the halfway mark, but Wach stood firm amid the relentless pressure.

After another punishing round in the seventh, Wach’s race was finally run, retiring on his stool before the start of the eighth.

Fury claimed the WBC Meta Humanitarian belt and called out long-time rival Joshua, who faces Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

Ibekwe laid Baer out cold with a thunderous right hand.

Heavyweight prospect, Arlo Stephens knocked Arash Mardani down twice before securing a second round stoppage.

Stephens (3-0, 2 KOs) floored Mardani (2-1, 2 KOs) in the opening round and once more in the second before the Iranian bizarrely went down on his own accord and the referee waved off the contest.

Fury had been expected to fly from Thailand to Jeddah to announce his bout with Joshua, but the 37-year-old told reporters including Pro Boxing Fans that he won’t be in attendance for his rival’s clash.

‘AJ’ was quizzed about Fury’s remarks at Thursday’s final press conference, but refused to be drawn on his comments.

“You can’t disrespect my opponent here,” the 36-year-old said.

“We don’t want to talk about Tyson Fury.

“Respectfully, I’ve done all the media that I can about what the future holds.

“I’m focusing on him and his team.”

The two-time heavyweight world champion was pressed further and once again insisted his focus was on Prenga, the unknown Albanian who has won 20 of his 21 professional fights.

“A professional journalist doesn’t care what I have to say, but still wants to get his question across,” he added.

“I understand, but let’s focus on what the job is.

“Anyone can be there Saturday.

“The more tickets sold the better, but we’re in the ring, it’s just me and him and that’s where my focus is.”

The pair have signed to fight, however a date and location is unknown for their long-awaited clash.

Saudi Arabian boxing chief, Turki Alalshikh said the bout would have to take place at 2am if it were to land in the UK and hinted at an announcement after both men have fought.

Tyson Fury’s last opponent, Arslanbek Makhmudov, has given his prediction for the long-awaited showdown between ‘The Gypsy King’ and Anthony Joshua.

Fury and Joshua have been on a collision course for a number of years, and Makhmudov has made it clear who he believes will come out on top.

‘The Gypsy King’ returned to the ring for the first time in 15 months this April in what was his first fight since back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.

He took on Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and cruised to a unanimous decision victory.

Two of the judges scored the bout 120-108, while the third had it 119-109.

With Fury and ‘AJ’ now looking set to finally clash later this year, Makhmudov spoke to Boxing King Media and gave an honest verdict on how he sees the contest playing out.

“I gave him a very hard fight.

“Of course, maybe I did not do enough to win, but I gave a good fight and landed some good punches.

“Now, he’s ready for Joshua. One hundred per cent he can beat him. I think he beats him easy now.”

Both Fury and Joshua return to the ring this week in separate bouts as they look to shake off any remaining ring rust before they finally meet around November.

Amazon Prime and DAZN televise Spence vs Tszyu live on pay-per-view.

Spence (28-1, KO22) would ordinarily start as favourite for this one, but with the Texas-based ‘Truth’ being inactive for nearly three years, few know what to expect from the American here.

At his best, Spence was a unified welterweight world champion, with his reign beginning with an eleventh-round knockout of Kell Brook in 2017, and he added the WBC crown in September 2019, taking a split verdict against Shawn Porter in Los Angeles.

He would add the WBA strap in April 2022, halting Yordenis Ugas in ten rounds, but then Spence finally met his match, and suffered his only pro defeat in July 2023, down three times before being halted by the gifted Terence Crawford for undisputed glory in the ninth round of their bout.

With several issues outside of the ring, it is unclear why Spence has been inactive for so long since the Crawford reverse, and Tszyu (27-3, KO18) will certainly test that inactivity.

Son of the legendary Kostya Tszyu, Tim began his career with 24 wins on the spin, including claiming the WBO super welterweight title after a spell as interim champion.

He would lose that crown in his first defence, via split decision to Sebastian Fundora, and he would also lose his next fight, a third round stoppage at the fists of Bakhram Murtazaliev in Orlando.

After a comeback win, Tszyu challenged Fundora in a rematch, and this time he was forced to retire after seven rounds after being decked in the opening round.

The 31-year-old has resurfaced in his native Australia, and won twice, the last a wide points win against Denis Nurja to take the vacant WBO international middleweight trinket.

Prediction: If Spence can re-discover his mojo, and shake off the ring-rust, I fancy him to take victory against Tszyu, most likely over the distance.

Stephen Fulton vs Liam Wilson

Another crossroads clash is on the undercard, where former unified super bantamweight champion Stephen Fulton (23-2, KO8) takes on former world title challenger Liam Wilson (18-3, KO10).

Fulton lost his WBC and WBO belts in 2023, when he was stopped by Naoya Inoue, but he rebounded to win the WBC featherweight title in February 2025, outscoring Brandon Figueroa.

Fulton would suffer defeat last time out in a move to lightweight, widely outpointed by O’Shaquie Foster last December.

Wilson has been stopped by Emanuel Navarrete and Oscar Valdez, but has won five on the spin since the Valdez reverse, the last a fourth-round stoppage of Rodex Piala in January.

Prediction: I expect Fulton to be too smart for Wilson, and the American can take a clear win on the scorecards.

Prediction: Sheeraz should once again show levels here and stop Zachenhuber in the opening four rounds.

Sultan Almohammed (4-0, 3 KOs) can stop Efren Besalduch (3-3-1, 1 KO) in their super featherweight battle and Egyptian super middleweight, Omar Hikal (1-0, 1 KO) can win his second professional bout by stoppage against Brian Castellano (2-1).

Fury (35-2-1, 24 KOs) will fight Joshua in November provided he beats Wach at the Max Muaythai Stadium in Pattaya, with the bout airing later this year on Netflix, rather than being broadcast live.

‘The Gypsy King’ has signed to fight Joshua, who fights a day later in Saudi Arabia against Kristian Prenga.

Following back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk, the two-time heavyweight champion came out of retirement earlier this year and overcame Arslanbek Makhmudov on points in April.

Wach (39-13, 20 KOs) challenged Wladimir Klitschko for his unified heavyweight world titles in 2012, losing by unanimous decision and the Pole has been beaten 12 times since to a host of top heavyweights.

The 46-year-old was stopped in two rounds by rising prospect, Moses Itauma in 2024 and is coming off a points loss to Viktor Vykhryst in March.

Fury told Pro Boxing Fans on Wednesday that he would not be ringside for Joshua’s bout with Prenga.

‘AJ’ was in attendance for his rival’s win over Makhmudov, but turned down an invitation from the Morecambe man to enter the ring afterwards.

“It’s not he said she said,” the 37-year-old said.

“Or tip for tat.

“I’ve been away from home a long time.

“I’ve been here nine weeks so I’m gonna go home and spend some time with my kids before I go back into training camp for another fight.”

Prediction: Fury should stop the Pole within five rounds.

Baer battles Ibekwe

Daniel Baer faces the undefeated heavyweight Simon Ibekwe in the co-main event.

Germany’s Baer (15-1-1, 14 KOs) heads in off a majority draw with Seun Salami in January, while Ibekwe (6-0, 3 KOs) has won his first six professional bouts.

Prediction: Ibekwe can squeeze out a points victory.

Spence Jr (28-1, 22 KOs) meets Tszyu (27-3, 18 KOs) at the Afterpay Arena in Sydney.

Spence has not been seen since suffering his first professional defeat to Terence Crawford in July 2023.

‘The Truth’ was down three times before succumbing to a ninth round TKO in a bid for the undisputed welterweight championship.

The 36-year-old’s bout with Tszyu was originally set to be contested at 158 pounds, but was moved to the 160-pound limit on fight week.

Tszyu has home advantage and has won two on the bounce since a seventh round retirement loss to Sebastian Fundora in their rematch last July.

The 31-year-old former world champion has lost three times in his career, twice to Fundora and once to Bakhmram Murtazaliev.

Anthony Joshua is set to return to the ring for the first time in over seven months as he takes on Kristian Prenga.

Knockout artist Prenga will be looking to cause a major upset against Joshua in what is the biggest fight of his career to date.

With Joshua and Tyson Fury appearing to be on course for a long-awaited British blockbuster later this year, both former two-time heavyweight world champions are in action this week.

Joshua faces the dangerous Prenga, who boasts an impressive record of 20 wins from 21 professional fights, with every one of those victories coming by stoppage.

The Albanian is a former European kickboxing champion before making the switch to professional boxing.

He was last in action in February, stopping Joe Jones in the opening round in Atlantic City.

The sole defeat of Prenga’s career came in 2017 when he was outpointed by Giovanni Auriemma in the Netherlands.

Now, the Albanian will look to upset one of British boxing’s biggest stars, who returns to the ring after breaking Jake Paul’s jaw back in December.

Joshua’s victory over Paul marked his first fight in more than 15 months, and he got the job done with a sixth-round stoppage.

Before that, ‘AJ’ challenged Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight world title as he attempted to become a three-time heavyweight world champion.

However, he was dominated and stopped in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium.

Joshua’s long-time rival Fury faces Mariusz Wach on Friday, and should both men win their respective contests, they are expected to finally meet next after more than a decade of back-and-forth between the pair.

Pacheco’s stoppage win over Aleem may have cemented his shot at a world title next.

At 25 years old, the rising super middleweight star continues to shine, improving his professional record to 26-0 after turning over in December 2018.

He now has 19 stoppage victories, with the win over Aleem marking his first knockout after three consecutive decision wins.

Last December, he claimed the WBC Silver super middleweight title and has now successfully defended the belt for the first time.

He will now assess the best route to a world title shot, and here are three potential opponents he could face next.

Jaime Munguia

Mexico’s Jaime Munguia may be the frontrunner for the 25-year-old after Pacheco called out the experienced world champion following his victory.

Promoter Eddie Hearn also spoke about the possibility of the fight.

“Is there a better fight than Diego Pacheco against Jaime Munguia for the world super middleweight title?

“This is a mega fight here [Los Angeles].”

Munguia currently holds the WBA super middleweight world title after defeating Armando Resendiz back in May.

He claimed a convincing points victory over ‘Toro’, with the judges scoring the contest 117-111, 119-109 and 120-108.

Munguia has lost just twice in his 48-fight professional career, with his first defeat coming against Canelo Alvarez in May 2024.

He was beaten over 12 rounds after being dropped in the fourth.

After returning with a tenth-round stoppage win over Erik Bazinyan, Munguia suffered a shock second defeat.

He was upset by Bruno Surace, who entered the bout as a huge underdog.

Munguia dropped the Frenchman in the second round before being stopped himself in the sixth.

Five months later, he avenged the defeat with a comfortable points victory in the rematch.

Hamzah Sheeraz

Britain’s Hamzah Sheeraz is another potential opponent for Pacheco, especially after recently claiming the WBO super middleweight world title.

Sheeraz also remains unbeaten after 24 professional contests, although he was held to a draw against Carlos Adames for the WBC middleweight title last February before moving up in weight.

In his next outing, he faced former world title challenger Edgar Berlanga in his home city of New York and made a huge statement.

The 27-year-old dropped ‘The Chosen One’ twice in the fourth round before finishing the contest in the fifth.

In his most recent outing, Sheeraz fought with the silhouette of the iconic Pyramids of Giza behind him as he captured a world title for the first time in his near nine-year professional career.

He faced unbeaten Alem Begic, who looked out of his depth against the much taller Brit.

Sheeraz did his job emphatically, stopping Begic in the second round to claim the vacant WBO world title.

Just over two months later, he is set to return to the ring on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs Kristian Prenga.

He takes on Simon Zachenhuber next week and will look to make the first defence of his world title.

Osleys Iglesias

Another route to world honours could come through the IBF super middleweight title, currently held by Osleys Iglesias.

A clash between the pair would pit two of the division’s biggest punchers against one another.

‘El Tornado’ has won all 15 of his professional contests and boasts a devastating 94% knockout ratio.

He won the IBF title in April by stopping Pavel Silyagin in the eighth round after winning every round on all three judges’ scorecards beforehand.

A fight with Pacheco could also benefit Iglesias, who would have the opportunity to improve his standing in the WBC rankings, where he currently sits outside the top 10.

Pacheco may also keep an eye on the winner of Canelo Alvarez and Christian Mbilli’s clash in October as he targets the full WBC super middleweight world title.

At 25-years-old, Pacheco made a real statement stopping Aleem.

Pacheco (26-0, KO19) has been knocking on the door for world honours for some time, and he fought three times in 2025, going twelve frames each time, the last involving him having to get off the canvas to outpoint Kevin Lele Sadjo last December.

Aleem (22-5-3, KO14) looked a safe choice of opponent on paper, winning only one of his last three starts.

He was last seen in March, dropping a wide decision to Lester Martinez for the interim WBC world title.

Pacheco looked rejuvenated after linking up with new trainer Buddy McGirt, and he used his jab to good effect in the opening round, before landing well to the body of Aleem in round two.

Pacheco was using the jab in multiples, and landing with several power punches, and Aleem simply couldn’t get his own shots off, and by round five, Pacheco was doing as he pleased, combinations and body shots landing almost at will.

Jabs and body work were working to perfection for him, and he hurt Aleem in the seventh with a hard shot downstairs, cranking up the pressure with each passing round.

It was a clinic from Pacheco, and going into the championship rounds he was a mile ahead, a huge uppercut shaking Aleem up in round ten.

The writing was firmly on the wall, and Pacheco closed the show a round later, putting together a series of spiteful punches before a big right hand finally deposited Aleem to the canvas.

Aleem bravely survived, but a combination of shots finally forced the referee to intervene, and put the seal on a great performance from Pacheco.

He promptly called out WBA world champion Jaime Munguia post-fight.

Andy Cruz vs Abraham Montoya

On the undercard, decorated amateur and Olympic gold medallist Andy Cruz (7-1, KO4) returned to winning ways after a losing bid for the IBF world title earlier this year, he was outpointed by Raymon Muratalla in January.

The lightweight decked Abraham Montoya (24-8-1, KO14) in round two of their clash, before securing a stoppage win a round later.

Remaining Undercard

Unbeaten featherweight prospect Albert Gonzalez (18-0, KO11) remained perfect, as he took the vacant NABF title with a second-round knockout of Aaron Lopez Alameda (31-4, KO18).

At lightweight, Bruno Rios Jr (9-0, KO7) took a competitive ten-round points win against Saul Sanchez (21-5-1, KO12).

Scores of 96-93 (twice) and 95-94 saw Rios complete the distance for the first time.

In six-rounders, Federico Pacheco Jr (11-0, KO8) stopped Nick Jones (9-6, KO6) in the second round of their heavyweight meeting, and British prospect Leo Atang (8-0, KO7) won early again, halting Glen Williams (2-2, KO1) in two rounds, also at heavyweight.

Middleweight novice Frank Espinoza (5-0, KO5) forced Luis Caraballo Ramos (8-9-1, KO8) to retire after three rounds of battle, and at lightweight, Samuel Contreras (8-0, KO3) took a clear points win against Jorge Alberto Ayala Lopez (2-3, KO0).
