<p><a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/pro-eft-tapping-technique-2/tap-away-feeling-depressed-with-pro-eft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Getting on top of &#8220;I can&#8217;t keep up,&#8221; with Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></a> starts with you telling your story just as it is. Trying to minimize the &#8220;I can&#8217;t keep up&#8221; story will often make things worse. First list the <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/sessions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">problem, effects, goal, and obstacles in you way</a>. Then measure the <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/hot-tapping-tips/relieve-your-emotional-pain-and-limiting-beliefs-with-pro-eft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">limiting beliefs</a>, painful <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/eft-anxiety/tap-away-your-anxiety-with-pro-eft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">emotions</a>, dysfunctional <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/hot-tapping-tips/reprogram-your-dysfunctional-reactions-with-pro-eft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">urges to react or be blocked</a>, and the<a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/eft-tapping-technique-2/pro-eft-tapping-therapy-and-rheumatoid-arthritis-breaking-the-vicious-cycle/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> upsetting sensations</a> you are feeling in your body. Let what ever comes to mind be the words you are going to tap on. Include all the poorly stated thoughts as well the enlightened corrections your conscious mind wants to replace them with. <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJRfMB7E2CE" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Louise Hay made this point very well when she said,</a> &#8220;if you are going to clean a house, you have to see the dirt.&#8221;</p>
<p>A classic mistake is to try to ignore and overpower your upsetting thoughts and urges. When you make this mistake, your protective imprinting will often bring up a whole host of additional limiting beliefs such as &#8220;I should be able to do this,&#8221; or &#8220;I am lazy,&#8221; or &#8220;I don&#8217;t deserve it.&#8221;</p>
<h3><span style="color: #ff6600;">Acknowledge the reality that we expect ourselves to do more than is humanly possible</span></h3>
<p>Another step in <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/blog/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">getting on top of &#8220;I can&#8217;t keep up,&#8221; with Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> </a>is to list the number of things a person is expecting themselves to do. When repeating the list back, clients often break out laughing as they realize that they are expecting the impossible from themselves.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #ff0000;">Humans are terrible estimators</span></h3>
<p><a href="https://books.google.com/books?id=U77um_h_dgcC&amp;pg=PA124&amp;lpg=PA124&amp;dq=rework+humans+are+terrible+estimators&amp;source=bl&amp;ots=F_df2lBvIe&amp;sig=LKwprrp13mL6vV8Qm398hGWAdCU&amp;hl=en&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwia49n93r_ZAhUC9WMKHU74A4cQ6AEIPTAD#v=onepage&amp;q&amp;f=false" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Humans are terrible estimators,</a> yet we expect ourselves and others to meet those expectations. This creates huge amounts of stress. At the beginning of a project we know less about the project than any other time, yet that is the time we create our expectations of how it should go. The bigger the project, <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Antifragile-Things-That-Disorder-Incerto/dp/0812979680" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the bigger the errors are</a>. Really loving and accepting that part of us that still expects us to meet those estimates, goes a long way to allowing us to let the estimates go.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #800080;">Love and accept that ancient part of us </span></h3>

<p>Our ancient hunter gatherer ancestors would <a href="http://www.rewild.com/in-depth/leisure.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">not have understood the concept of not enough time.</a> Even in the harshest of natural conditions, subsistence took far less time then the hours we are expected to work today. Hunting and gathering is something people enjoy doing. The indigenous people played and rested a lot more than modern humans do.</p>
<p>They never had to file paperwork, balance ledgers, pay taxes, get all the kids to the after school activities, and report to a higher authority. Existence was a cooperative effort with plenty of time to rest and recreate.</p>
<p>The one thing that would have been terrifying to our ancestors was the phrase &#8220;I can&#8217;t keep up.&#8221;  Not being able to keep up with your group could well be a death sentence. Fast forward a few millennia into our modern world and the thought I can&#8217;t keep up<a href="http://discovermagazine.com/2013/may/13-grandmas-experiences-leave-epigenetic-mark-on-your-genes" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> still produces incredible levels of stress.</a></p>
<p>We have an ancient epigenetic memory inside of us, not keeping up is terrifying. Not keeping up is not actually a matter of survival in our modern world. I remember chuckling at a line a presenter said when asked what his lifetime goal was, it was &#8220;to finish unpacking!&#8221; When <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">getting on top of &#8220;I can&#8217;t keep up,&#8221; with Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></a>, we acknowledge our <a href="https://io9.gizmodo.com/how-an-1836-famine-altered-the-genes-of-children-born-d-1200001177" target="_blank" rel="noopener">epigenetic memories from</a> our hunter gatherer past. We also let the unconscious mind know that much of what is on our never ending to do lists, are not a matter of survival.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #800080;">Explore the reasons why we want to do so much</span></h3>
<p>The most common reason we do things is to be happy. Let the unconscious see that making ourselves unhappy stressing about keeping up, so we can be happy, is not the best plan. In other words, we are making ourselves unhappy in order to be happy. Often just repeating the steps of your personal pattern a few times in a row will take the charge out.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #ff6600;">Tap in directly what you really want</span></h3>
<p>When the charges are low enough, then we can tap in what we really want. 										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3><span style="color: #808080;">Don&#8217;t push your way into the painful past</span></h3>
<p><a href="http://www.eftuniverse.com/research-studies/eft-research#ptsd" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EFT is wonderful at tapping away your painful past.</a> Because <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></a> is so effective you may be tempted to push yourself or your client into the painful memories. This very bad idea is based on the belief that your current problems are because of your first trauma. We reason that A led to B which led to C which must be causing our problem D. The logical and linear solution is to go back to the trauma and fix the original cause. As practitioners we run the risk of <a href="https://www.unk.com/blog/3-reasons-i-never-have-my-clients-relive-their-traumatic-experiences/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">causing the client to suffer yet another trauma</a>.  <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/eft-anxiety/tap-away-feeling-overwhelmed-with-pro-eft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Neutralizing your painful past with Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> </a> requires being receptive and gentle. This is true whether we are tapping on ourselves or <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/sessions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">with a client in a session.</a></p>
<h3><span style="color: #ff6600;">Human biology is much more complex than our theories</span></h3>
<p>A classic mistake in science is to make believe we know the whole picture. When people get caught up in categorical thinking<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNnIGh9g6fA&amp;t=1589s" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> they often end up causing great harm.</a> It is very important to keep in mind that what we think we know is always a portion of what really exists. <a href="http://www.human-memory.net/brain_neurons.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The 100 billion or so neurons in our brain </a>may have up to<a href="https://books.google.com/books?id=VsT-AwAAQBAJ&amp;pg=PA491&amp;lpg=PA491&amp;dq=neurons+may+have+up+to+200,000+connections&amp;source=bl&amp;ots=BT2RGNQUJ4&amp;sig=y-g3PL1NSogWb-uQ0y2otgyJpkk&amp;hl=en&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwjFrP7Xx93YAhXLzVMKHU-_DmIQ6AEINjAC#v=onepage&amp;q=neurons%20may%20have%20up%20to%20200%2C000%20connections&amp;f=false" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> 200,000 connections</a> for each neuron. The possible ways they may be connecting is beyond human comprehension. In truth we don&#8217;t know. <a href="https://thetappingsolution.com/eft-practitioners/bill-dovel/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tapping</a> is journey of discovery that is <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-PpDq1WUtAw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">quite unique to every person.</a></p>
<h3><span style="color: #ff0000;">Allow the story to unfold on its own</span></h3>
<p>I have helped clients<a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-time-cure/201211/why-reliving-your-trauma-only-goes-so-far" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> tap down being traumatized by some expert more times than I can count. </a>The expert had them re experience their trauma which was supposed to help them move on. It is way better to let the story unfold on its own. Gently <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/hot-tapping-tips/tap-away-your-anger-with-pro-eft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">neutralizing your painful past with Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> </a>is the best option for tapping down through the layers. The unconscious mind will tell you what you need to tap on and <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/hot-tapping-tips/getting-over-the-loss-you-cant-get-over-with-pro-eft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">when you need to tap on it.</a></p>
<h3><span style="color: #800080;">Start by tapping down what the client wanted to work on</span></h3>
<p>When a client wants to <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/hot-tapping-tips/reprogram-your-dysfunctional-reactions-with-pro-eft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">eliminate a dysfunctional reaction</a>, I don&#8217;t ask where it came from. We tap on the <a href="http://www3.ha.org.hk/cph/imh/mhi/images/04_03_01_a_eng.jpg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">thoughts, emotions, reactions, and body sensations </a>they are experiencing now. Searching for the oldest painful experience runs the risk of becoming a new painful event. Our goal is to relieve and eliminate feeling awful, <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/pro-eft-really-really-tearless-trauma-technique/pro-eft-really-really-tearless-trauma-technique-trauma-relief-and-elimination-without-all-the-pain/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">not conquering our past experiences.</a>  <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/pro-eft-tapping-technique-2/tap-away-feeling-depressed-with-pro-eft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tapping away</a> the <a href="https://www.emofree.com/nl/eft-tutorial/tapping-roots/aspects.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">metaphorical layers of the onion</a> will reveal what ever it is that needs be tapped on.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #808080;">The unconscious mind links things together in multiple ways</span></h3>
<p>Linear time lines are great for the <em>conscious mind</em> to intellectually explain things. In the <em>unconscious mind,</em> the time lines don&#8217;t necessarily connect in chronological order. The connections are not always logical. For example, I had a client tapping on her own personal income glass ceiling. Spontaneously she mentioned her fear of snakes during the process. We put the fear of snakes reaction into the tapping dialogue about the glass ceiling problem. Several years later she mentioned that she had nearly stepped on a snake and felt no fear at all. The snake was slithering away as fast as it could. In her unconscious mind, the fear of snakes was linked to her fear of success. Now both fears are gone. We didn&#8217;t have to relive some now forgotten trauma around snakes.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #ff6600;">Empower the client to choose to work on something later</span></h3>
<p>As your issues come up the well trained practitioner may want to finish them off now. The urge comes up to follow those steps just like in the training. When the person tapping doesn&#8217;t want to go there, gently back out. Promise the part that is hurting that we will return, when we are ready. Teach yourself and your clients that you can go as far as you want, for as long as you want. <h2><span style="color: #808080;">Discover the difference between healthy and unhealthy anger</span></h2>
<p>Anger is a<a href="http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/tap-away-anger-with-eft" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> special case</a> in <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/sessions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Center tapping</a>. Anger brings out the <a href="https://www.ted.com/talks/robert_sapolsky_the_biology_of_our_best_and_worst_selves" target="_blank" rel="noopener">worst behaviors in human beings</a>. Because of this, <a href="http://www.apa.org/topics/anger/control.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">there is no emotion that is more vilified than anger</a>. There isn&#8217;t a psych diagnosis for anger per se. Instead we have a whole host of disorders that are all about the behaviors<a href="http://dsm.psychiatryonline.org/doi/abs/10.1176/appi.books.9780890425596.dsm15" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> that angry aggressive people </a>do to us. In order to effectively <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tap away your anger with Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></a> it is extremely helpful to know what<a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/overcoming-destructive-anger/201608/what-constitutes-healthy-anger" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> anger looks like in empathetic, caring people.</a></p>
<h2><span style="color: #ff6600;">Healthy anger makes something change</span></h2>
<p>The whole anger continuum from<a href="https://www.anger.org/the-medol-model/the-medol-model-anger-continuum" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> the mildest annoyance to rage</a> is about <a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/wander-woman/201101/want-change-get-angry" target="_blank" rel="noopener">making your external environment change.</a> When somebody mistreats us, it is natural to feel hurt and then angry. But those of us with a conscience feel bad when we get angry at someone.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #ff0000;">Being with an understanding person vs a person who means to hurt you</span></h2>
<p>We may decide to try to pursue understanding with the person who hurt us. We attempt to politely tell them how we are feeling hurt. This is a great plan with someone who truly cares for you.</p>
<p>When the person who hurt you <a href="https://www.amazon.com/Sociopath-Next-Door-Martha-Stout/dp/0767915828/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1510922388&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=the+sociopath+next+door" target="_blank" rel="noopener">enjoys being aggressive</a>, they will likely attack you again, espcially for having hurt feelings. You get the message that feeling hurt is not allowed. You might decide to go the other route and get angry at them. Then they attack you for being angry. You are then<em> <a href="https://www.lisaescott.com/narcspeak" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused of being too sensitive.</a> You shouldn&#8217;t take it personally. They were just joking. Where is your sense of humor? I am always walking on eggshells around you. I guess I can never say what I am really thinking around you. etc.</em> You end up being imprinted with a no win scenario that continues the battle inside of you. The person who hurt you no longer needs to be in the room to make you stressed out.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #800080;">Eliminate arguing with yourself</span></h2>
<p>The solution is to love and accept the parts of us that are arguing back and forth. The part that wants to be angry and the part that feels bad when we get angry. Sometimes it really helps to keep tapping, &#8220;I should have said something,&#8221; and then, &#8220;I shouldn&#8217;t have let them get to me,&#8221; over and over again. When we are learning to <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/blog/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tap away feeling angry with Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></a>, we often do this until we start giggling. When that happens we reach true acceptance of both points of view. At that wonderful point of true self acceptance, the person who is being abusive <a href="https://www.goodtherapy.org/blog/gaslighting-a-slow-burning-emotional-abuse-tactic-0121154" target="_blank" rel="noopener">loses much of their ability</a> to take control of your emotions.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #808080;">Tap in feeling in control directly</span></h2>
<p>Another aspect of anger is<a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/evolution-the-self/200807/what-your-anger-may-be-hiding" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> feeling in control. </a>This is especially true when someone is making you feel bad. Aggressive and uncaring people often belittle people to feel in control. This is <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/pro-eft-relationship-remedy/is-my-relationship-emotionally-abusive-can-pro-eft-practitioners-eliminate-the-cycle-of-emotional-abuse/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">emotional abuse</a>. Some even are physically and sexually assaultive, which <a href="https://dean.williams.edu/policies/sexual-misconduct/some-common-reactions-to-sexual-assault/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">destroys the victimized person&#8217;s ability to feel in control</a>. Anger would seem like the perfect emotion to give us back that sense of control.</p>
<p>The problem with anger happens when your anger doesn&#8217;t change anything. Then your anger <a href="https://www.nicabm.com/how-anger-affects-the-brain-and-body-infographic/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">eats you alive</a>. Chronic anger, whether expressed or repressed, is <a href="https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/healthyliving/anger-how-it-affects-people" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the principle emotional cause of physical illness</a>. It disrupts every healing function in the body. We very effectively <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/eft-anxiety/tap-away-your-anxiety-with-pro-eft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tap away your anger with Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></a> by <a href="http://www.lifecoachingwithlindsay.com/downloads/GoldenGateNarrative.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tapping in feeling in control,</a> without having to be angry.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #ff6600;">Reverse that bad effects of anger in your body</span></h2>
<p>Tapping has been found <a href="http://www.eftuniverse.com/component/acymailing/mailid-1014?key=Ci074lpL&amp;tmpl=component" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to turn on 72 genes  that cause</a>:  &#8220;suppression of cancer tumors, protection against the sun&#8217;s ultraviolet radiation, type 2 diabetes insulin resistance, immunity from opportunistic infections, antiviral activity, synaptic connectivity between neurons, creation of both red and white blood cells, enhancement of male fertility, building white matter in the brain, metabolic regulation, neural plasticity, strengthening cell membranes, and reducing oxidative stress.&#8221; This is a partial list. <h2><span style="color: #ff0000;">Venting your anger to get rid of it doesn&#8217;t work</span></h2>
<p>I would also like to include the ever present belief that venting your anger is a healthy activity. Far from it. Venting your anger outwardly <a href="http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=102344514" target="_blank" rel="noopener">programs you to be ever more angry</a>. It steals your self control away from you. This absurd belief was championed by Nobel Laureate Konrad Lorenz. He called it the <a href="http://www.eebweb.arizona.edu/Courses/Ecol487/readings/Konrad%20Lorenz%20Biography.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Psychohydraulic Model</a> of human behavior. He was eventually <a href="http://www.worldjewishcongress.org/en/news/late-austrian-scientist-konrad-lorenz-stripped-of-doctorate-for-lying-about-nazi-past-12-5-2015" target="_blank" rel="noopener">found out</a> as the monster he really was, but his thinking still <a href="https://www.britannica.com/biography/Konrad-Lorenz" target="_blank" rel="noopener">strongly influenced psychology</a> in the 20th Century. As Robert Sapolsky points out in his Behavioral Biology lectures at Stanford, Lorenz was  a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNnIGh9g6fA&amp;t=1870s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nazi Propagandist</a>. In<a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/testimonials/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Center sessions</a> we dissipate the energy charging up your anger, while validating that you have every right to feel that way. <p>When you can&#8217;t seem to get over a big loss in your life, it can be very discouraging. <p>Sometimes we have a moment when the tears form in our eyes. This is your body grieving. We often <a href="http://sfhelp.org/grief/symptoms.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">run right past the thought that is so painful. </a> This blocks the grieving part of us from truly feeling heard. In order to grieve the sadness effectively, we need to ask ourselves what thought brought us to tears. When we know the thought we can acknowledge, love, and accept that thought and tap that painful loss out of our body.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #ff0000;">Grieving is about feeling understood</span></h2>
<p>It is important to realize that the grieving thought is not about providing information. It is about feeling understood on a gut level. We tap on the same thought until we <a href="http://www.yourtribute.com/quote/earl-grollman-grief-disorder/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">feel resolved, bored, or clear.</a> When you feel understood on a gut level, <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/success/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">getting over the loss you can&#8217;t get over with Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></a> becomes so much easier.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #333399;">Don&#8217;t force yourself</span></h2>
<p>I never try to stimulate grief in a client. I strongly advise you don&#8217;t do this in yourself either. The body will let you know if and when it is ready to grieve. It will do this by bringing tears to your eyes.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #808080;">Feel really listened to first</span></h2>
<p>Not allowing effective grieving is not the only reason we can&#8217;t let go of a loss. Sometimes we need <a href="https://www.emofree.com/eft-tutorial/tapping-roots/tell-story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to tell the story</a> until we really feel listened to. A classic EFT mistake is to recognize something that could be tapped on and stop the client from talking. Then we start tapping on that aspect before a person really feels understood. Sometimes I do sessions without ever having time to measure the symptoms 1 to 10. We skip using the <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/pro-eft-tapping-technique-2/pro-eft-tapping-technique-how-long-do-i-tap-on-the-points/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Karate Chop</a> point, <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/pro-eft-tapping-technique-2/pro-eft-tapping-points-comforting-ourselves-the-way-nature-intended/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sore Spot</a>, or setting up <a href="http://www.lifecoachingwithlindsay.com/downloads/ProEFTvsTraditionalEFT.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a reversal</a>. We tap while the client says what they need to say. Only then do we move onto the standard <a href="http://www.lifecoachingwithlindsay.com/downloads/ProEFTvsTraditionalEFT.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> techniques</a>.</p>
<p>When tapping on yourself, treat yourself like a client. If you need to keep talking and tapping, do that first. <p>You have at your fingertips, the power to <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tap away feeling depressed with Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></a>. As <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/eft-anxiety/tap-away-your-anxiety-with-pro-eft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">with anxiety</a>, calling <a href="https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/publications/depression/index.shtml" target="_blank" rel="noopener">many different things depression</a> can make tapping it away seem impossible. The <a href="http://uwaims.org/nyscci/files/slides_dsm5-diffdiagnosis_2014-01-30.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">8 psychiatric disorders </a>associated with the <a href="http://thework.com/sites/thework/downloads/worksheets/Emotions_List_Ltr.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">emotion depression </a>are often just called depression. This leads to a lot of confusion. In <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK20369/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">orthodox 20th century psychiatry</a> labeling people with a diagnosis is important. It provides a vehicle to determine <a href="http://dsm.psychiatryonline.org/doi/abs/10.1176/appi.books.9781585629992.mf02" target="_blank" rel="noopener">what pharmaceutical drug</a> to give. <a href="https://www.researchgate.net/publication/250968864_When_Averages_Hide_Individual_Differences_in_Clinical_Trials" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Averaging symptoms to create a label </a>creates  all sorts of problems in real people. We are all different from each other in many ways.<a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/success/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /> Center tapping</a> scripts do the opposite of labeling. Keep it simple. Tap on what you are experiencing. That is what really matters.</p>
<h2><span style="color: #ff0000;">Address your specific problems</span></h2>
<p>The <a href="https://www.emofree.com/eft-tutorial/tapping-roots/specific-relief.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EFT concept of being specific</a> makes your tapping much more effective. Write out exactly how you are <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/sessions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">feeling, thinking, and reacting</a>. Rate the symptoms from 1 to 10. Emphasize the symptoms that are most severe first in your <a href="http://www.eftbooks.com/1-IMAGES/pdfs/Kenny/PR.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">setup/reversal statements</a>.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #000080;">Love and accept all aspects of you</span></h3>

<h3><span style="color: #808080;">Have all the parts of you feel truly understood</span></h3>
<p>We feel understood when another person cares enough to <a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/evolution-the-self/201706/feeling-understood-even-more-important-feeling-loved" target="_blank" rel="noopener">really get our point of view</a>. Feeling understood is the<a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/deborah-l-cabaniss-md/therapeutic-alliance_b_1554007.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> most important factor </a>in any kind of treatment. It is really helpful to understand what the depressed part of you is trying to do. When all the aspects of you feel understood, <a href="https://feelinggood.com/team-vs-cbt/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">those parts will become a much more willing partner</a>.</p>
<h3><span style="color: #ff6600;">Recognize the advantages of feeling depressed</span></h3>
<p>Depression makes us <a href="https://themighty.com/2017/05/depression-feeling-safe-comfortable/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">keep our head down </a>instead of lashing out angrily. If you grew up in a household with an angry parent, your getting angry would have been severely punished. You had every right to feel angry, but you paid a price for expressing it out loud. Your body learned to use your anger to shut you down. With this insight you can be grateful that shutting yourself down protected you. This insight empowers you to gently <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/success/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tap away feeling depressed with Pro EFT<img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/16.0.1/72x72/2122.png" alt="™" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></a> techniques.</p>
<p>Another advantage of depression is making you hold still. When you are sick, your immune system will force you to rest. It does this to <a href="https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2012/10/the-evolutionary-advantage-of-depression/263124/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">give yourself an opportunity to heal</a>. Acknowledging the need to slow down and take care of yourself is very healing. It empowers you to tap in taking care of yourself without having to feel depressed.</p>
<p>Feeling depressed can <a href="https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/depressions-evolutionary/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lead to increased introspection and problem solving</a>. Love and accept your body&#8217;s attempt to get you to solve the problem. That will really help that part of you let go of the dysfunctional pattern of feeling depressed in order to solve problems. Then you can tap in the instructions to solve the problem without having to feel depressed.</p>

<p>If you would really like to supercharge your setup/reversal statements, recognize what the feeling overwhelmed is trying to do for you. Then we can<a href="https://www.emofree.com/ptbr/eft-tutorial/tapping-roots/specific-relief.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> really zero in on the dysfunctional reaction </a>we are trying to change. When we really understand what the dysfunctional reaction is trying to do, it is so much <a href="https://patcarrington.com/tapping-to-love-and-accept-yourself-more-fully/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">easier to specifically love and accept </a>that part of us.</p>
<p>Feeling overwhelmed tends to <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mary-walker-baron/stress-overwhelmed-_b_2659628.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">paralyze us from taking effective action. </a>If we want to truly love and accept that part that makes us feel overwhelmed, we need to accept that there <a href="https://medium.com/@shahmm/business-design-lessons-from-new-coke-brand-failure-ef1939b4f081" target="_blank" rel="noopener">are times that taking no action is the best decision.</a></p>
<p>Feeling overwhelmed helps us to realize that <a href="http://www.soulseeds.com/grapevine/2011/10/how-to-know-you-are-taking-too-much-responsibility/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">we are taking on too much</a>. People pleasing people are wonderful people except when they stop pleasing themselves. Loving and accepting that part of us that is trying to signal, however awkwardly that we have taken on too much, is wonderful. Then we can honor that part of us that is trying to get us to put ourselves back on the list of people we take care of. After all, taking care of people is something we are really good at.</p>
<p>Feeling overwhelmed keeps us from <a href="https://www.goodtherapy.org/learn-about-therapy/issues/emotional-overwhelm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">consciously feeling emotions that are too painful to deal with</a>. This is a great buffer until we can <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/hot-tapping-tips/relieve-your-emotional-pain-and-limiting-beliefs-with-pro-eft/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tap down the intensities of those painful emotions</a> as well. Tapping in your appreciation for the part that doesn&#8217;t want you to feel all of these awful emotions helps you toward <a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/evolution-the-self/200809/the-path-unconditional-self-acceptance" target="_blank" rel="noopener">real self acceptance.</a></p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Anxiety has just become <a href="http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2017/06/29/anxiety-overtakes-depression.aspx" target="_blank">the most prevalent emotional health problem in the US.</a> Learning how to effectively <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/" target="_blank">tap away your anxiety with Pro EFT</a> is a wonderful solution. For most people, trying to <a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-mindful-self-express/201303/why-we-cant-just-get-rid-anxiety-distress" target="_blank">tap down anxiety seems like a daunting and nearly impossible task.</a> Part of the reason for this is the word anxiety has so many competing definitions. Is it a <a href="http://www.calmclinic.com/anxiety-guide/main-types" target="_blank">body response,</a> an<a href="http://thework.com/sites/thework/downloads/worksheets/Emotions_List_Ltr.pdf" target="_blank"> emotion</a> that<a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/sweet-emotion/201408/why-labeling-emotions-matters" target="_blank"> we should be able to identify</a>, or is it <a href="http://www.healthline.com/health/anxiety-diagnosis" target="_blank">a disease</a>? Modern psychiatry has used the word anxiety in <a href="https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/anxiety-disorders/index.shtml" target="_blank">a whole host of psychiatric disorders,</a> for example<a href="http://images.pearsonclinical.com/images/assets/basc-3/basc3resources/DSM5_DiagnosticCriteria_GeneralizedAnxietyDisorder.pdf" target="_blank"> Generalized Anxiety Disorder.</a> The confusion is made far worse when medical personnel shorten the names of these disorders to the name anxiety, <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/492440540477332577/" target="_blank">which is an emotion</a> not a psychiatric<a href="http://dsm.psychiatryonline.org/doi/abs/10.1176/appi.books.9780890425596.dsm05" target="_blank"> diagnosis.</a> Adding to this trend, there has been a big movement in psychiatric drug marketing to <a href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/13/anxiety_n_1670547.html" target="_blank">make normal anxiety a mental illness</a> that needs psychiatric drugs.</p>
<p>If you don&#8217;t see anxiety as an emotion, there are several competing explanations of what anxiety actually is. If you have <a href="https://www.anxietybc.com/adults/what-is-anxiety" target="_blank">various body sensations like elevated pulse rate</a> then that is anxiety. Others <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ce_hSySnerg" target="_blank">identify anxiety as a group of negative limiting beliefs.</a> All of this differing information is enough to give you anxiety. It has become more and more difficult for the layman and healthcare practitioner alike to have a <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/sessions/" target="_blank">straightforward way to target the dysfunctional anxiety we want to get rid of.</a></p>
<p>Despite what many of us have been told, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xaYekb25II" target="_blank">anxiety is not genetic</a>. It is a learned response that helps us avoid bad things like <a href="http://guilfordjournals.com/doi/abs/10.1521/jscp.1990.9.2.196" target="_blank">being abandoned by our tribe.</a> We can learn it from <a href="http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/07/05/stress-effects.aspx" target="_blank">inside the womb onward</a>.  When your anxiety emotions are intense enough, <a href="https://books.google.com/books?hl=en&amp;lr=&amp;id=-3PnUroNu8wC&amp;oi=fnd&amp;pg=PR9&amp;dq=trauma+in+childhood&amp;ots=XIJpBsQ0ss&amp;sig=B2WrG-7gTUM3Umscskom7Tk10oU#v=onepage&amp;q=trauma%20in%20childhood&amp;f=false" target="_blank">the unconscious mind will record that response and put it into your automatic reactions</a>. After a response is recorded, the unconscious mind resists with all of its might to have you record over it. It would be awful if you accidentally recorded over the ability to walk, drive a car, or being warned to stay away from things that might hurt you.</p>
<p>When we tap on the<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9cjosuctq4" target="_blank"> Pro EFT Center tapping points</a>, we <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/pro-eft-tapping-technique-2/pro-eft-tapping-points-comforting-ourselves-the-way-nature-intended/" target="_blank">increase the intensity of our comforting emotions</a>. When these comforting emotions get intense enough, the unconscious mind turns on the record button just like when it <a href="https://books.google.com/books?hl=en&amp;lr=&amp;id=eObJAgAAQBAJ&amp;oi=fnd&amp;pg=PP1&amp;dq=negative+emotions+imprint+trauma&amp;ots=LoDvms1X__&amp;sig=s2QICHFtoLOdM5tRltAtn2ie1ms#v=onepage&amp;q&amp;f=false" target="_blank">imprints from intense negative emotions</a>. When you verbalize your anxiety pattern while in this super comforting state, you <a href="https://pdfs.semanticscholar.org/6cb3/407fd551088c9d1c930603a53e37d2880dbd.pdf" target="_blank">start erasing the dysfunctional anxiety response</a>.</p>
<p>You can develop the skills to<a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/testimonials/" target="_blank"> tap away your anxiety with Pro EFT </a>very effectively. <p>Most of us know <a href="http://www.help-for.com/anxiety.htm" target="_blank">anxiety is there to protect us.</a> We just don&#8217;t know how it protects us. You may have noticed the more anxious you feel,<a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/in-practice/201303/6-tips-overcoming-anxiety-related-procrastination" target="_blank"> the less you accomplish</a>. That is precisely what the emotion anxiety is for. It strongly motivates you to avoid things. Unfortunately, the unconscious mind can&#8217;t evaluate the overall results of making you anxious. It just waits for a cue to start your personal anxiety protocol.</p>
<p>Once <a href="http://www.sheldrake.org/research/most-of-the-so-called-laws-of-nature-are-more-like-habits" target="_blank">your body has developed that habit of feeling anxiety</a> for certain triggers, it will keep doing that until you <a href="http://www.eftuniverse.com/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=2447" target="_blank">change the recording to get anxious when exposed to this trigger.</a> It is really helpful to acknowledge what the anxiety is trying to do for you. The more you send the signal to the unconscious mind that you get the message, the less that part of your mind will feel the need to make you feel anxious. That is a huge part of the reason why we say <a href="https://www.thetappingsolution.com/eft-articles/the-controversy-over-the-eft-set-up-phrase-i-love-and-accept-myself/" target="_blank">I love and accept myself anyway</a> in our tapping setup. We don&#8217;t say I want to completely <em>avoid</em> the anxious part of me which I do not like or accept at all. We need to keep in mind that the body makes us feel anxious when we want to <em>avoid</em> something. When we attempt to avoid anxiety, our body creates more anxiety to help us avoid the anxiety. This is not a good plan:-)</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Here at the <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/" target="_blank">Pro EFT Center </a>we are always looking for ways we can improve our tapping sessions. When someone comes up with a new idea, we are willing to try it out. A few months ago we began adding the <a href="https://books.google.com/books?id=oZLHAAAAQBAJ&amp;pg=PT12&amp;lpg=PT12&amp;dq=third+eye+point+eft&amp;source=bl&amp;ots=ZY35wht3Qe&amp;sig=TLAfSlIr5I-fDgmAQKVXSHMEkPk&amp;hl=en&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwiQra2ju_3LAhVFW5QKHW6jAiIQ6AEIXDAO#v=onepage&amp;q=third%20eye%20point%20eft&amp;f=false" target="_blank">Third Eye Point </a>to our tapping routines. It has been working great. It has added a more balanced feeling at the end of each round. It has also proven a bit more effective in releasing neck and jaw tension.  A few <a href="http://www.eftmastertraining.com/boston/eftmasters.html" target="_blank">EFT Masters </a>and <a href="http://energyeft.com/change_classic_eft_heartnsoul.htm" target="_blank">advanced practitioners </a>have been adding the point as well. I would suggest giving it a try. We tap the Third Eye point and the <a href="http://www.emofree.com/eft-tutorial/tapping-basics/how-to-do-eft.html" target="_blank">Top of the Head</a> point at the same time. This position also improves the spinal alignment while tapping, compared to the old routine.</p>
<p>Far <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Antifragile-Things-That-Disorder-Incerto/dp/0812979680" target="_blank">more success in life is achieved by tinkering</a> and measuring the results. This is much better than always assuming that you already know the best way to begin with. The willingness to make improvements as you find them has always impressed me. That was why I have trained so extensively with <a href="http://www.lifecoachingwithlindsay.com/" target="_blank">Lindsay Kenny,</a> the creator of <a href="http://proeftinstitute.com/find-an-eft-master-practitioner" target="_blank">Pro EFT.</a></p>
<p>The following video, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9cjosuctq4" target="_blank">&#8220;How to Tap the Pro EFT Center Tapping Points,&#8221;</a> will cover each of our standard points with more detail. Every once in a while, it is a great idea to go through the points and check yourself. <a href="http://thetappingsolution.com/eft-practitioners/bill-dovel/" target="_blank">Meridian Tapping </a>will work even if you are not all that precise. As long as we are tapping the areas that <a href="http://www.proeftcenter.com/pro-eft-tapping-technique-2/pro-eft-tapping-points-comforting-ourselves-the-way-nature-intended/" target="_blank">humans use to comfort themselves, </a>the tapping consistently shows some real benefit. There is some good evidence that the <a href="http://www.eftuniverse.com/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=11907" target="_blank">exact points work better than sham points.</a>  Please enjoy tapping along with the video and help keep yourself from wandering too far off the mark.</p>
