Tom Cruise is back at it again with the fifth or sixth installment (Let’s be honest who gives a fuck) of Mission Impossible. He’s jumping, he’s climbing he’s shooting, but no sixty nining. Tom Cruise is the sexless white saviour we all need and deserve, Enjoy.

After being plagued with a rough a production including a change in directors and a ton of re shoots, we finally got to see the Han Solo origin story. Here we have an action packed noir tinged Star Wars Anthology film with a healthy dose of style and humor. Better than Rogue One? Better than Empire? Probably not, but it is pretty dam good. It is finally upon us, the first installment of the long awaited infinity war! Watch as your favourite heroes get the crap beat out of them while they struggle with sappy contrived plot devices, somehow making them  unable to beat Thanos in just one  movie!  Watch The Vision become a human pin cushion! Watch the Hulk totally puss out! and Peter Quill 100% needs to die in the next movie! that’s pretty much it, Spider-man was worth the price of admission though.

Jim says shush! Join us while we discuss the latest episode of  The Offi- sorry, the new thriller “A Quiet Place”. In a world overrun by terrible creatures with super hero levels of sound detection that will hunt and kill anything that makes noise, everyone needs to live as silently as possible. A true paradise for those pesky librarians, but if you are pregnant or deaf you are not having a good time.

B-A-B-Y Baby. Here we take a look at Baby Driver. Up for 3 Academy Award nominations, including Best Film Editing, this movie has a little bit of everything and a lot of style. Definitely not for everyone with its stylized dialogue and ode to film noir attitude, there is no denying that there is something fresh and new here, not to mention one of the finest opening sequences you will find anywhere. So buckle up and jump in the back seat for a rotten good time as we follow heist get away driver Baby to the sounds of Beck, Queen and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.

Episode 13: Baby Driver

“The Last Jedi” might have received nothing but praise from critics, but it has the fans split right down the middle. It’s easy to see why some fans were frustrated with some of the big choices made by Rian Johnson. So much of what he did seems to fly in the face of all the ground work that Abrams laid in “The Force Awakens”. The two movies are not the best of friends, but is it really that big of a deal? Luke was so interesting, and the relationship that builds between Kylo and Rey was brilliant. There is also that seriously awesome Yoda cameo and this movie has some of the most jaw dropping shots you will find in all 9 films. It may slump a bit here and there but this movie is big, bold, dark and dirty. Rian Johnson set out to make a new Star Wars movie, his own Star Wars movie, and he did. He made bold creative choices, and almost every one of them works wonders. “The Force Awakens” was the nostalgic swan song everyone wanted and “The Last Jedi” is it’s polar opposite that no one saw coming. I think what is important here is pushing boundaries and exploring something new. Let the past die. Kill it if you have to.

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

Is this a brand new movie or an episode IV reboot? Who knows, maybe both? Either way it’s a great flick. JJ Abrams took on a project that took some serious cojones and made the smart choice to play it safe just so we would all know that the Star Wars universe is in capable hands. Most of all, he gave us a serious tribute to the originals. The Force Awakens is brimming with nostalgia, wonderful new characters and some serious practical effects! Although it’s not perfect, there is so much to love about this addition to the saga that it’s easy to brush a few minor flaws. It’s fun, it’s funny, it has its dark side, it’s incredibly re watchable and most of all, it just feels like Star Wars! Plus, there’s BB-8. Who doesn’t love BB-8?

Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

Return of the Jedi has arguably the finest first act of all time – Jabba’s Palace is nothing short of perfection. Leia’s bounty hunter disguise, The Rancor, Jabba’s sail barge, the Sarlacc pit! This movie kicks things off in all the right ways and Luke has had some serious training between Episode V and VI, not too mention that wicked green light saber! Return is a pretty wicked flick. However, stone age Ewoks defeating space age storm troopers in battle? That is weak. Sticks and stones may break my bones but they ain’t got squat on AT-ST’s – or at least they shouldn’t! Oh well, there’s still plenty to love in this movie. Vader and Luke in their final duel, Vader’s redemption! Force lightning!! We finally get some personal time with the Emperor and his face is all kinds of messed up. Seriously, that guy needs to lay off that Heisenberg blue.

Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

Welcome to the next part in our Star Wars series. It’s time for the Empire to strike back! Empire is often sited as the best film in the original trilogy. Although it might not be as grounded in everyday life as A New Hope, it’s darker and grittier and it doesn’t quit. The sophomore entry in the original trilogy moves with a keen pace while digging deeper into the characters we all fell in love with. We meet Master Yoda, who teaches all of us so much more about the force. Luke really starts to hone is skills as a Jedi. We learn more about Han’s history while a romance between him and Princess Leia builds to the best reply to an “I love you” in cinema history – with Han’s casual  “I know”  – right before he is frozen in carbonite! GASP! Wait, who’s Luke’s father? IMPOSSIBLE!! Let’s be honest, shitake gets real in this movie, and that’s why everyone loves it.

Just remember. Adventure. Excitement. A Jedi craves not these things.

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

Star Wars! Everyone loves it right? Well anyone who matters that is. The first of a series where we take on the all mighty original trilogy from a galaxy far far away! Join us as we discuss some of the most beloved films of all time along with a healthy dose of current events! Ya we get distracted sometimes… Okay, a lot. First off is A New Hope! It’s a fantastic film and it started it all. It gave us everything! Luke, Obiwan, Leia, Han, Chewy, R2D2, C3P0, Jabba, Boba Fett, Vader, Tarkin, The Empire, The Rebellion, light sabers, Storm Troopers and the fricking Death Star! Most importantly, it gave us The Force. What more could you ask of a movie!?

And Han shot first. Obviously.

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope

A friend of the show wanted it and they got it! On this episode of Rotten Commentatoes, we take a look at “The Visit” – a 2015 found footage horror film by M. Night Shyamalan. It does for Grandma’s house what “Jaws” did for the beach! No, but seriously, it’s a messy film with some interesting character choices that you can’t always take seriously and there’s a lot to pick at here but there is also some really good jump scares and some down right freaky stuff happening and a pretty neat little twist to wrap it all up – I mean come on, this is M. Night Shyamalan we are talking about here, it would be a bigger surprise  if there wasn’t a big twist, right?

Episode 7: The Visit

One of the strongest entries in the Marvel Universe, Thor: Ragnarok is all about getting your mojo back. After having his beloved hammer destroyed by his seriously disturbed older sister, Thor finds himself in a bit of a slump. Stranded, imprisoned and enslaved on a junk world ran by none other than Jeff Goldblum (at his Golblumiest), Thor has to fight his way out so he can return to Asgard and defend his home from his super powerful, crazy sister Hela. Armed with a retro aesthetic, a dam good Zeppelin track and some seriously good comedy, Director Taika Waititi delivers arguably the best of the Marvel onslaught. It’s tight, it’s hilarious and it’s all over the place in the best way. If you have not seen this movie, go watch it now. Seriously. Right now. It’s unbelievably hilarious.

Episode 6: Thor: Ragnarok

Historical period piece? Slow burn psychological horror? The world’s longest Captain Morgan’s commercial? It turns out you can be all three! Robert Egger’s directorial debut, “The Witch”, was a divisive 2016 horror film that wowed some and bored others. Whatever side you fall on, you have to admire the extraordinary attention to detail in the writing and production design here. It’s dark, it’s moody and for all you social studies teachers out there, it’s painstakingly historically accurate!  “The Witch” may not be for everyone but it is gorgeously shot and crafted with a sense of time, place and atmosphere that is all too uncommon. So, get your period accurate, hand woven woollies on and join us! Did I mention the Captain Morgan cameo?

Do small towns suck? Kinda. Does Stephen King have issues? Probably. Are clowns distressing? Most definitely! Join us as we venture into the dark depths of dysfunction and bigotry that haunts the town of Derry, Main while an ancient evil in the shape of Pennywise the clown terrorizes pretty much everyone including the missing children that he feeds on – fun times!
