The annual BK5K organised by Dundrum AC was held on Wed 6th of May 2026 in Dundrum nr Cashel in Co Tipperary.

There were 372 finishers this year which is up 14% on last year and the numbers have been growing now for four years in a row.

There are six races in this years West Waterford AC Summer Series with most of them in or to the west of Dungarvan. Each race costs just €12 to enter online or €15 on the night.

We are delighted to announce our Summer Schedule of races starting in Ballinroad on the 8th May with our very popular 5k race and finishing with the Dungarvan 10k on the 17th July in another very popular 10k route with all past participants.

This is a unique opportunity to enter all 6 races in advance and just turn up on the night to each race and run! For your €70 you will be entered into all 6 races and receive a commemorative Gilet Jacket.

Each race can be entered separately online prior to the event for €12 but entry on the night will be €15 per race. So get your entries in quickly and be ready for a super summer of racing once more.

Dundrum Athletic Club in Co Tipperary are holding their annual BK5K road race on Wednesday the 6th of May 2026 at 8pm.

This is one of the fastest 5k courses in Munster as it's pretty much dead flat with long straight sections.

From the organisers... "BK5K is an ideal personal best season opener building towards our 41st running of the Coillte 10km eight weeks later. Coillte 10km is on the first Wednesday in July at 8pm."

The 5k race will be held in the small village of Dundrum which is located about 9 miles / 14kms to the NW of Cashel.

The annual Valentia Half-Marathon & 10k was held this year on Saturday 4th of April on what a busy weekend for road races in Kerry.

Despite this, there was a big jump in numbers this year with the half-marathon going from 311 to 360 and the 10k increasing from 257 to 359.

Kerry: Results of the Run Ballybunion Half-Marathon, 10k & 5k - Sat 4th Apr 2026

The annual Run Ballybunion Half-Marathon, 10k & 5k was held on Saturday 4th April 2026.

As the chart shows above, the numbers for the 5k and half were up and the 10k numbers were down.

The combined numbers for all three events were almost identical to 2025 . It seems very likely that the lack of growth was due to the fact that there were so many other events in Kerry that weekend like the Killarney 5-mile and the Valentia Half-Marathon & 10k.

The first two rounds of the Robbie Whelan 6k in Clonmel were held on Wed 1st & 8th of April 2026.

There were 217 finishers on the 1st of April which is well up on the 160 for the first event in 2025. There were 215 finishers in the second race on the 8th of April and this again was up on the second race in 2025 which got 159.

The Great Ennis 10k & 5k was held in Co Clare on Sunday 29th of March on what turned out to be a very wet day. Unusually, the overall numbers were exactly the same as last year... 339 in 2026 and 339 in 2025.

The only difference was that the 10k numbers decreased from 208 to 202 while the 5k numbers increased from 131 to 137.

The 2026 edition of the Kilsheelan 10-mile in Tipperary was held on St Patrick's Day and there were 197 finishers.

As the chart shows above, this was a record for this particular race although as 10-mile races go in Ireland, it's still pretty small. Kilsheelan was the 36th largest 10-mile in Ireland in 2025 and it's likely to move up a few places this year.

Sunday the 22nd of February 2026 was a busy day for races in Munster with the Kinsale 10-mile, the Adare 10k and the Nenagh Half-Marathon & 10k.

The numbers in Nenagh were really quite exceptional this year. The Nenagh Half is a relatively new event and in 2025, it had 304 finishers in the half... a modest number of finishers which put it in 62nd place for the top half marathons in Ireland in 2025.

The 2026 event saw the numbers surge to 711 finishers, well over double the numbers for the previous year. This puts it on track to be the largest half-marathon in Tipperary by years end.

The 10k also saw a substantial surge with a 44% jump from 311 to 448 finishers.

I suspect one of the main reasons for the surge is the apparent rise in the number of runners in Limerick with more events appearing on the calendar.

It's all the more appropriate that the first woman in the half was 19-year old Ava Crean from Limerick with a time of 74m 16s. Ava is the current Irish national marathon champion after taking the title at the Dublin marathon last October.

The 5-mile edition of the Run Clare Series was held this year in Lisdoonvarna on Sat 21st Feb 2026. A total of 341 runners crossed the finish line this year which is down from last year when they had 380 in Barefield. The rain this year may have been a factor.
