1.59 Update: Tow to Road

We are happy to reveal a new feature that will be available in both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator with the upcoming release of the 1.59 update - the Tow to Road service. Let's take a look at how it will work!

The Tow to Road feature was designed to improve the overall quality of life for players by reducing frustrating situations during gameplay. It will allow drivers to quickly recover if their truck overturns or gets stuck in a ditch or uneven terrain. It will also help prevent disruptions in multiplayer sessions, enabling players to continue with their convoy when they find themselves stuck, without the need to be towed to a service location, which could cause unnecessary delays.

So when you are in a difficult situation, you can simply find the new "Tow to Road" button under the Service menu (set to F7 by default). After paying a small fee for the towing service, you will be transported to your last safe location on the road.

Just be careful that if you disconnect your trailer beforehand, it will remain in its original position, and only the truck will be towed. Also, if you move too far away from your last safe position on the road, the Tow to Road function may become unavailable to prevent misuse of the feature.

And don't worry, we are keeping the Tow to Service feature as well, as it serves a different purpose. Tow to Service is intended for situations involving heavy vehicle damage, where driving is no longer possible, and repairs are required. Tow to Road, on the other hand, is primarily used to quickly return the vehicle to a drivable position on the road.

We hope you will appreciate this new feature coming with the 1.59 update, which might help you quickly get back on the road when you are stuck, but without the need to be towed to service.

Illinois: East St. Louis

Welcome to East St. Louis! Today, we’re taking a closer look at this historic city, which will be featured in our upcoming Illinois DLC for American Truck Simulator. We hope you enjoy this preview of the industrial hub that our teams have recreated in detail.

East St. Louis sits on the eastern bank of the Mississippi River, directly across from St. Louis, Missouri. As part of the wider metro area, the city has long played a key role in transport and heavy industry. Its location along the river helps support a dense network of freight routes, rail lines, and industrial sites that serve the region.

Drivers travelling through East St. Louis will see clear views across the Mississippi River toward the St. Louis skyline. Players will recognise several landmarks on the other side, including the world-famous Gateway Arch and parts of downtown St. Louis.

Industry defines much of East St. Louis, which serves as a major hub for metal production and heavy industry. Drivers will be able to deliver cargo to a large steel facility, along with other sites tied to manufacturing and construction materials. A nearby refinery and several chemical plants add to the mix, creating steady demand for tanker and heavy haul jobs.

Agriculture also feeds into the region’s supply chain. Several grain mills and storage sites connect local farming output to national transport routes, giving drivers additional freight options across the area.

Rail transport remains a major part of the city’s identity. At the turn of the 20th century, East St. Louis was one of the busiest rail hubs in the United States, and that legacy still shows today. Players will pass large rail yards, intermodal terminals, and railway depots where cargo moves between trains and trucks.

While travelling through the metro area, players may also notice the black-and-blue trams that run through the wider St. Louis region. These light rail vehicles link communities on both sides of the Mississippi River.

Whether you're hauling steel, chemicals, grain, or containers, East St. Louis offers plenty of freight opportunities in this working industrial hub along one of America’s most important waterways.

Benelux Rework: Amsterdam + IJmuiden Ferry

Amsterdam, best known for its iconic canals, historic architecture, and vibrant cycling culture, is one of the Netherlands’ most recognisable and visited cities. Today, we’re excited to share a closer look at the work of our talented Benelux Rework team, as they bring this famous destination up to modern DLC standards with improved detail, updated road networks, and refreshed landmarks. Let's take a closer look!

Dating back to the 12th century as a small fishing settlement on the Amstel River, Amsterdam grew into one of the most important trading hubs of the world during the Dutch Golden Age. Its famous canal ring, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was constructed in the 17th century and remains one of the city’s defining features. Today, Amsterdam is a modern European capital, blending historic charm with contemporary infrastructure, something our team aimed to reflect throughout this rework.

So what work has taken place? Amsterdam has been completely rebuilt from the ground up! Recreating such a dense and iconic destination was no small task, especially within the limits of the game’s scale. Through careful decisions, the team were able to preserve Amsterdam’s unique character and looks. We think they have done an excellent job! Wouldn't you agree?

One of the more unique challenges the team encountered was surrounding part of the A10 Zuid ring road, located south of Amsterdam. In real life, this section is currently being moved into an underground tunnel as part of an ongoing infrastructure project. However, during our research trip at the beginning of the Benelux rework, the highway was still above ground. This led to an important decision, whether to recreate the real-world layout as we experienced it, or attempt to represent a future version that is not yet complete.

After careful consideration, we chose to keep the highway above ground. This allowed us to work with real-world references while also creating a unique driving experience. It gives players the opportunity to travel through one of the few places in Europe where highways pass beneath towering skyscrapers, offering a memorable and visually striking perspective of the city.

As with most reworks, rebuilding the city from the ground up gave the team the opportunity to introduce new landmarks and bring older ones up to date with our newer modelling standards. Whilst it won't be possible to travel through the historic inner city itself, the team has carefully selected locations and viewpoints that we believe best represent Amsterdam.

We would also like to give a special thanks to our asset team, whose work on the city’s landmarks and architecture has played a huge role in bringing Amsterdam to life. Their attention to detail helps make each location feel authentic and memorable. We can't wait for you to explore it all for yourself!

IJmuiden Ferry

Not far from Amsterdam lies the coastal town of IJmuiden, home to an important ferry connection between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. As part of the Benelux rework, this location has also been revisited and refreshed.

While IJmuiden was already present in the original map as a landmark ferry location, it has now been updated to better match the quality and detail of the surrounding reworked areas. Although the scale of changes here is not as extensive as what you'll find in Amsterdam, you'll still certainly notice some big changes!

The ferry terminal continues to serve as a key gateway for drivers travelling between mainland Europe and the UK, offering an important connection for long-distance routes. Its updated design aims to provide a more immersive experience while maintaining its recognisable identity. We hope this connection will be used a lot more often with the arrival of the UK rework in the future!

Interestingly, this location became a personal favourite for one of two map designers who worked on it, thanks to its unique atmosphere and role within the wider transport network.

South Dakota: Settlements #2

As you travel across the Mount Rushmore State, you’ll encounter a variety of distinctive and memorable settlements along the way. In today’s blog, we’re taking a closer look at another selection of towns that our map designers have been bringing to life for the upcoming South Dakota DLC for American Truck Simulator.

Redfield

Redfield is often called the “Pheasant Capital of the World.” This nickname comes from the area’s rich hunting tradition and thriving wildlife population. As you drive through town, you may notice subtle nods to this heritage, along with its classic Midwestern layout and welcoming small-town atmosphere.

Martin

Serving as a vital hub for nearby communities, Martin offers a glimpse into everyday life on the plains. It may be modest in size, but its role in the region is significant. Our team focused on capturing that authenticity, from local businesses to the open landscapes that stretch far beyond the town itself.

Mission

Mission is an important community within the Rosebud Indian Reservation. The town blends cultural significance with rural charm. As you pass through, keep an eye out for details that reflect its identity and the surrounding rolling plains.

Selby

A friendly small town with a population of just over 640, Selby sits among rich farmlands and serves as a quiet waypoint for travelers passing through the region. Its location along a well-traveled highway makes it a natural stop along your journey. In-game, you’ll experience its laid-back atmosphere, surrounded by the agricultural landscape.

Sturgis

Famous across the country, Sturgis is best known for its legendary motorcycle rally, which draws huge crowds every year. Beyond the roar of engines, however, the town has its own everyday charm. Drivers can enjoy a mix of forested surroundings and winding roads that make this area especially memorable. As you approach the town, be sure to look out for the iconic Sturgis sign on Sly Hill!

Wall

Just off Interstate 90, Wall is a must-see stop for anyone traveling through western South Dakota. It’s widely known for its iconic roadside attraction, which has been drawing in visitors for decades with its classic Americana charm. As you cruise along I-90, you’ll also notice a series of billboards encouraging you to make a stop in town, a signature part of the experience that our team has recreated for players to enjoy.

Of course, South Dakota is home to many more towns and communities than we could include. As with all our map expansions, we carefully select and adapt locations to fit the 1:20 scale of American Truck Simulator. This approach allows us to create a map that feels both rich and true to life, while keeping drives engaging and well-paced for players behind the wheel.

We’re thrilled to announce that the SCS Fan Day Experience is returning for its fourth edition! On May 15th, 2026, we will once again be welcoming a group of passionate members from our #BestCommunityEver to our offices in Prague, Czech Republic, for a special behind-the-scenes afternoon. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like inside our studio, this is your chance to find out!

Our previous Fan Day Experiences have been truly unforgettable, from guided tours of our offices and insights into our development process to fun times with our simulators and friendly chats with our team. Meeting you in person, hearing your stories, and sharing our passion together is something we genuinely look forward to every time.

For this upcoming event, we will be selecting 20 fans to join us for SCS Fan Day Experience Vol. 4. During your visit, you can expect a deep dive into our studio, opportunities to meet the people behind our projects, and maybe even a few surprises along the way. Of course, no visit would be complete without some refreshments, great conversations, and a small gift to remember your day with us.

Please note a few important details before applying: As with our previous events, we are unfortunately unable to cover travel or accommodation costs, so all selected participants will need to arrange and fund their own trip to Prague. Additionally, if you are under the age of 18, you will be required to bring an accompanying adult with you to the event. If chosen, you will need to be at our offices in Prague on the 15th of May, 2026.

World of Trucks: Refuelling Our Events

Our dearest community,

Over the years, World of Trucks events have become a very special part of our shared journey. Whether it was exploring new maps and economies during our Cruising events, contributing to continental goals in Trade Connections, building new landmarks in Operation Genoa Bridge, or taking part in magical seasonal experiences like the Witches of Brackenreach or Woven Wonders of Winterland, each event has offered something new, something fun, and brought the community together in its own unique way.

Today, we’d like to share with our #BestCommunityEver that we will be taking a temporary pause from running our World of Trucks events.

This pause is an important step for us. In order to move events forward, we need to invest time into improving the underlying systems and infrastructure that support them. This means reworking how events function behind the scenes and how they are experienced in-game.

As part of this, we want to bring much more of the event experience directly into the game itself. This includes being able to view and redeem rewards, earn and view achievements, and follow event progress and community milestones, all directly in-game.

We’ve got even more ideas we’re working towards, but we’re not quite ready to share them just yet. When the time is right, we’ll return to running your favourite events and share more about what’s ahead.

You can think of this as the first step in building a stronger foundation for future events, one that will allow us to create experiences that are more engaging, rewarding, and flexible, supporting a wider variety of formats, ideas, and durations.

In the meantime, we’ll continue bringing you new content, updates, and improvements across both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, and we look forward to sharing more with you as development progresses.

Iceland: Keflavík

Halló og velkomin til Keflavík! In today’s blog, we’ll be taking a closer look at this beautiful and historic town, located on the Reykjanes Peninsula, which you’ll be able to explore and deliver to in our upcoming Iceland DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2. Ready to see more? Let's hit the road!

For millions of travellers each year, Keflavík marks both the beginning and end of their journey in Iceland. The town is home to the Reykjavík–Keflavík Airport, the country’s main international hub, located just outside the town. We made sure to include this key location as an industry, as it also handles a large share of the island’s cargo. Drivers headed for the airport, will see the airport terminal in the distance before being directed to the cargo terminal, where you'll pick up or deliver jobs.

As you head towards Keflavík itself, you’ll enter a town shaped by both the coastal industry and modern travel. Historically, Keflavík grew as a fishing community in the 16th century, with strong ties to the sea that still influence the area today. Over time, its role expanded alongside the development of the airport, turning it into a key hub and destination on the Reykjanes Peninsula.

In-game, you’ll find a range of industries to deliver to and from, including a shipyard, a car dealer, and a supermarket, along with a fuel station and a service point. While these locations technically sit within the neighbouring town of Njarðvík in real life, the two form part of the wider municipality of Reykjanesbær, together with the village of Hafnir.

Whilst the road network here is not very complex, it plays an important role in connecting the Island. From the airport, you can either head into Keflavík itself or follow Route 41 straight towards Reykjavík, one of the main links across the peninsula.

Life here is mostly peaceful, the landscape of Iceland, and the Reykjanes Peninsula in particular, is constantly changing. As many of you may know, Iceland sits on an active geological boundary, with volcanic activity becoming more frequent in recent years. Efforts to keep eruptions and lava flows away from towns and infrastructure remain ongoing, but the surrounding terrain continues to be shaped by these powerful forces.

You can find a few landmarks around the area too, including art installations which include various sculptures! We are sure you will enjoy taking in the sights as you deliver around this historic town.

Illinois: Settlements #2

A few weeks ago, we showed you a first preview of the smaller towns waiting to be discovered in our upcoming Illinois DLC for American Truck Simulator. And today, we're happy to take you back behind the scenes for a second look at the work our map designers have been putting into bringing these settlements to life - and to reveal even more of them!

Galena

Starting in the far northwest corner of the state, we arrive in the charming town of Galena, set among rolling hills along the Galena River, a tributary of the nearby Mississippi River. Today, Galena is celebrated for its remarkably preserved character, with more than 85 percent of its buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Driving down Main Street feels like stepping back in time - many of the structures standing there today date back to when Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th president of the United States, once called Galena home. As you explore the town, you'll spot several notable landmarks, including the local high school's distinctive tower, a historic museum, and the local 19th-century cultural and event hall.

Rushville

Roughly halfway between Quincy and Peoria along Route 24 lies the cozy town of Rushville, home to around 3,000 residents. It also has a number of historic architectural gems, particularly in the downtown area, many dating back to the 19th century when Rushville was established. Several of these have been carefully recreated by our asset designers to reflect their real-world counterparts, including the courthouse, the town square with its charming central gazebo, a classic local storefront, and even a few recognizable statues.

Farmer City

If you venture northwest of Champaign, you'll come across Farmer City just off Interstate 74. This rural community, deeply rooted in agricultural tradition, is surrounded by rolling farmland, and its economy has long been shaped by crop production and livestock.

Grayville

Nestled on the Illinois–Indiana state line along the banks of the Wabash River, Grayville is a charming town with easy access via Interstate 64, just south of the town, making it convenient for travelers heading east or west. Its surroundings of rolling hills and scenic river bottoms provide a picturesque setting. In addition to its natural beauty, Grayville is known for hosting some of White County's most popular festivals throughout the year.

Norris City

Traveling south from Grayville along Illinois Route 1, you'll arrive in Norris City, a quaint town of just over 1,000 residents. Nestled amid expansive farmland, Norris City radiates peaceful, rural charm, with a strong sense of community.

Illinois is home to a wide variety of public art, and many of its towns and cities proudly display colorful murals that celebrate local culture, history, and community pride. For our upcoming Illinois DLC for American Truck Simulator, our map and asset teams have recreated several of these works so that drivers can come across them while traveling across the Prairie State. In today's blog, we'd like to highlight some of the murals you may spot on your journeys!

Chicago

As one of the largest cities in the United States, Chicago is well known for its thriving art scene. Murals can be found throughout many of the city's neighborhoods, decorating building walls with bold colors, detailed imagery, and unique designs. As you navigate the streets of Chicago, keep an eye out for these impressive works that help bring even more character and authenticity to the city.

These large-scale artworks reflect the creativity and diversity that Chicago is famous for. From colorful patterns and community-inspired pieces to striking portraits and imaginative compositions, they add life to the urban landscape and make each street feel a little more distinctive.

Springfield

As the capital of Illinois, Springfield is rich in history and culture, and its streets also feature a variety of murals that bring color and character to the downtown area. As you explore the city, you may notice several of these artistic pieces adorning building walls along your route.

These murals often celebrate the heritage and stories of the region, helping to create a sense of place for both locals and visitors alike. Including them in the Illinois DLC allows players to experience another layer of authenticity while traveling through the state.

Rockford

Located in northern Illinois, the city of Rockford is another place where you can spot several murals while driving through town. These artworks decorate a number of buildings and add vibrant colors to the streets, creating memorable sights for anyone passing by.

Public art like this plays an important role in highlighting the identity and culture of local communities. By recreating these murals, our teams aimed to capture the atmosphere and personality that make each Illinois city unique.

Quincy, Champaign, Macomb & Marion

Murals are not limited to just a few locations, however. As you continue your journey across Illinois, you may also discover colorful murals in cities such as Quincy, Champaign, Macomb, and Marion.

From large walls covered in vibrant illustrations to smaller artistic pieces that celebrate local culture, these murals help make every city feel more alive. Our teams enjoyed researching and recreating these details to ensure that each location feels authentic and full of character.

ETS2 1.59 Update: Volvo Trucks Experience Center

Today, we’re excited to give you an early glimpse of something special arriving in Euro Truck Simulator 2 with the upcoming 1.59 update! In partnership with our friends at Volvo Trucks, you’ll soon have the opportunity to test your trucking skills at the renowned Volvo Trucks Experience Center, situated in Gothenburg, Sweden!

Located in Gothenburg, the home of Volvo Trucks, the Volvo Trucks Experience Center brings together brand presentation spaces and a purpose-built driving facility created to showcase the performance and engineering of Volvo Trucks’ vehicles. While visitors can explore Volvo’s latest innovations, technology, and heritage on site, the center’s standout feature is its dedicated driving circuit.

This carefully designed track incorporates sweeping bends, tighter technical corners, elevation changes, downhill stretches, and varied road layouts. Together, these elements allow drivers to assess vehicle behaviour in a controlled environment, highlighting stability, braking precision, handling characteristics, and overall driving comfort in ways that go beyond everyday road conditions.

In Euro Truck Simulator 2, the Volvo Trucks Experience Center (VTEX) has been recreated almost entirely on a 1:1 scale. Players will be able to drive the full circuit and explore the surrounding areas of the facility. Our teams paid close attention to detail to faithfully capture the layout and atmosphere of the real-world location, including all of the parking areas that form part of the center, delivering an experience that closely mirrors its real-life counterpart.

Drivers wanting to check out this special area will need to venture around the roads near Gothenburg, to discover an entrance that is not yet discovered on your GPS, which leads into the facility. And just a friendly reminder, as it is located in Sweden, you will require the Scandinavia DLC to be able to visit it.

Last year, we had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Volvo Trucks Experience Center ourselves, where we got up close to the facility and even behind the wheel of the Volvo FH Electric, Volvo FH16 780, and Volvo FH I-Save. During our time there, we gathered detailed photographic references and captured authentic sound recordings to support our ongoing projects. We also documented the visit as part of our SCS On The Road series on YouTube; you can watch the episode below!

SCS On The Road: Our Visit to Bobcat EMEA HQ

In today's episode, we're heading to Dobříš, a small town in the Czech Republic, and home to the Bobcat EMEA headquarters. Alongside a behind-the-scenes look at how the models for our games were created, we also got a walkaround of some of the machines to learn more about them.

When we visited Bobcat last year to gather reference materials for our Bobcat Cargo Pack DLCs for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, we also had the chance to record this episode while capturing the scanning process with our vehicle department and exploring more of Bobcat's product range.

We would like to thank Bobcat for the invitation and smooth collaboration, as well as Matúš Gejdoš, their Product Manager for Portable Air Compressors, and Zdeněk Brůžek, the Field Product Trainer, for sharing their time and knowledge with us about these impressive machines. Illinois: Gameplay Preview

Buckle up and get ready to roll, because today we’re excited to share a brand-new gameplay preview from our upcoming Illinois DLC for American Truck Simulator!

The Prairie State is a place where busy industry meets wide-open farmland, and where historic routes connect vibrant cities. Our team has been hard at work recreating this diverse state, bringing its highways, landscapes, and atmosphere to life for drivers to experience behind the wheel.

In this preview, you’ll get a first look at a journey through Illinois as we travel from Quincy all the way to Chicago, driving along major interstates and rural highways alike. Along the way, you’ll pass expansive agricultural fields and grain facilities before gradually approaching Chicago's dense urban skylines and underground.

Join us as we take a drive through a selection of locations across the state and showcase some of the roads and environments our map team has been crafting. Ever wondered how the Bobcat equipment you’re hauling with our Bobcat Cargo Pack DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator is created? In today’s SCS On The Road episode, you’ll find out exactly that!

Last year, we had the privilege of being invited on a guided tour of the Bobcat Manufacturing Plant located in Dobříš, Czechia. Join Petr, one of our Community Managers, and Vincent Frank, Plant Director at Bobcat, as they step inside the factory and show us how Bobcat products are created and assembled. The facility employs over 900 people from across the region and produces approximately 20,000 machines annually for customers throughout the EMEA region. Some of the machines built here are also exported to North America, Asia, and other markets around the world.

Isle of Ireland: Meet the Team

Today, we’d like to shine the spotlight on the team working on the upcoming Isle of Ireland map expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2. This brand-new DLC will take drivers across the island of Ireland, from lively urban centres to quiet coastal roads and rolling green countrysides. As with every map expansion we create, bringing a new region into the world of ETS2 requires a passionate group of developers working together to carefully craft every road, city, and landmark.

In this edition of Meet the Team, you’ll get the chance to learn more about some of the people behind the project. The developers featured here have prepared short introductions along with a few small insights into what they’ve been working on so far. We hope you will enjoy getting a closer look at the team helping to build this exciting new destination.

Honza - Map DLC Lead

"Hi. It has been six years since I joined SCS. It has been a great journey ever since. I grew from being a junior map designer to map lead, and now I enjoy leading such a talented group of people.

We're finishing up the Benelux rework project, and I hope truckers will enjoy driving on highways there soon. Meanwhile, we have started with the next project, the Isle of Ireland. This will be my first regular DLC, which is exciting. The Emerald Island is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful pieces of land on the whole continent. Green pastures, wild western coast, lively, colourful cities and towns. Oh, and not a lot of highways! We'll give it our best to do it justice.

Little about me: I have a Polish wife, a new baby and a neurotic dog. My favourite pastime: Having a nice beer while watching campy horror movies."

Eliška (foxxy) - Senior Map Designer

"Hi, I'm Eliska, a former filmmaker turned map designer. My journey with SCS Software started nearly 5 years ago during the pandemic and has been enjoyable and fulfilling ever since. I had never before imagined that I would be able to start a brand new career in my forties, based on what I loved to do in my free time my whole life - building imaginary digital worlds in games.

I am grateful that SCS accepted me without any prior professional experience, helped me grow and learn, and landed me where I am today, a senior specialist on a great team in one of the most peaceful games in the world. And that would not be possible without our incredible players. Thank you."

"I have been working at SCS Software for four years, during which I have contributed to several map expansions, including the Benelux rework project. Within this project, I worked on the cities of Rotterdam and Antwerp, as well as the Europoort area. I specialise in creating ports and ferry terminals, but I also work on city design and the surrounding areas, focusing on their layout, atmosphere, and functionality within the game world.

For the Ireland DLC, I am responsible for the creation of cities and ferry terminals, including Waterford, where I continue to bring these urban environments to life through detailed design. I hope players will enjoy exploring them as much as I enjoy creating them."

"Pine trees lining German highways, small marinas in Nordic Horizon, water channels in Benelux. These are projects for which I had the opportunity to create maps. And now we are starting on the mysterious, cosy Ireland, which I associate with peat bogs and fairytale views of the countryside. I am especially looking forward to those in the heart of Ireland, around the town of Athlone, where I will be building. You can also look forward to lots of roadside art sculptures on your way."

Anis - Map Designer

"I spent years studying academic painting and drawing at two different universities. Over time, surrounded by theory, technique, and countless books on the history of art, I became convinced that I understood what "Art" truly meant. My education gave me structure, discipline, and a sense of certainty, but certainty can be limiting.

Now, six years into my journey at SCS Software as a Senior Map Designer, I see things differently. From shaping the quiet suburbs of Iberia and the rural roads of Slovenia to working on major cities and crafting unique custom depots, I’ve learned that art isn’t confined to canvas or theory. It lives in scale, in detail, in atmosphere – in everything we do, putting our heart into our work."

"I joined SCS less than a year ago as a junior map designer. Immediately after my probation period, I started working on a section of Galway in Ireland, which was later featured in the teaser for the Ireland DLC. I’m really happy about it and grateful to have joined SCS Software at this time, with the opportunity to work on Ireland. Given the country’s diversity, ranging from dense urban centres to rugged, hilly terrain, the role of a map designer here allows me to work on an exceptionally wide and engaging variety of locations. "I have been working as a Map Designer for four years and have contributed to the West Balkans, Greece, and Nordic Horizons DLCs. Each country has its own unique vibe and atmosphere, and I truly enjoy bringing that into our game. Our work is not just about recreating well-known landmarks. Often, it’s a small, cosy street recreated 1:1 that you probably wouldn’t see in any other game, yet it adds that special touch and makes you truly feel like you’re driving in a specific country.

Every DLC starts with detailed research, from the distinct look of architecture, roads, signs, and sidewalks to small details like wildflowers that may grow only in one particular country. I love the attention to all these geeky details in our company, and I believe this is what makes our games unique. My main focus on the Ireland DLC is Killarney National Park and the town of Killarney. The nature of this region and the town itself are absolutely stunning, and I’m doing my best to bring that beauty to your screens. I also believe these roads will be perfect for upcoming coaches, as it is primarily a tourist region with only a small amount of industry. I’m really looking forward to seeing how this DLC will be received and to reading your honest and motivating reviews."

Jitka - Map Designer

"I've been enjoying creating landscapes and exploring the possibilities of our game since joining the team in 2022. After some of the most challenging roads in Switzerland and the verticality of Luxembourg city, I started working on Ireland.

Ireland is more than just green. It's mist rising over dark hills on the horizon, spreading across endless heather moorlands. It's a sunlit coastline and a road weaving ahead of you through open land. It's the little villages, where time has stopped.

Ireland's landscape has its own unique way to pull you in. And I can't wait for you to see more of what we are creating."

"I have been working at SCS for a year and a half now. My first project was the Benelux rework, where I gained valuable experience that I put to good use as I started working on the Ireland DLC. As part of the team, I focus on vegetation and on helping the map feel as authentic and true to real references as possible. I am very excited to be part of this, as it feels like a long-missing piece of the Europe map. Ireland’s landscapes and colour palette will enrich the overall map with their lush, green, vegetation-rich environment."

"Hi, my name is Dimi, and ever since I was younger, I dreamed of creating video games in some sort of artistic way, so here I am! I became part of the SCS team about a year ago, and since then, I have participated in two of our upcoming projects. I took a small part in the creation of Benelux Rework and now Ireland, which I’ve really taken a liking to.

My favourite landmarks I had the pleasure of creating are the Giant's Causeway, together with its surroundings and Ben Bulben, which appeared in our teaser. After spending my time observing various locations, I have fallen in love with the landscapes and nature of Ireland, and I am more than happy to be a part of its creation. I will do my best to recreate that beauty in our game, hoping it will bring you the same happiness it has brought me along the way.

"Hello, I've recently celebrated two years at SCS. I started working on Germany and continued on Benelux. I'm still fixing bugs in Benelux for you, but I'll be moving to Ireland soon. While working on the flat environments of the Netherlands rework, I was also helping out on the Nordic Horizons DLC, where there were lots of beautiful landscapes.

I've already had a look at what awaits me, and it seems cosy. No more big highways and complicated junctions, just cities and roads. I have to say that left-hand traffic was a problem for me at first, but I quickly got used to it.

What I like most about Ireland are the colour-coded sheep. I just love them! Irish people, tell me, wouldn't it be cheaper to tag them on their ears, like we do in the Czech Republic? Just kidding, you make the world more colourful. Thanks."

As you know, vehicles are at the core of what we do in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. Every truck we bring into the game starts long before the modeling phase – with proper research. And that is exactly where we'd like to strengthen our team.

This role focuses on researching real-world vehicles and their components according to our internal specifications, verifying the accuracy of the information, and preparing clear, well-structured materials that our vehicle team can directly use. Beyond collecting data, it's also about understanding which details truly matter for a simulation game and what level of depth makes sense within the technical limits of our engine.

We are looking for someone who has hands-on experience with real vehicles, such as truck drivers, people working in logistics or the automotive industry, vehicle servicing professionals, or vehicle manufacturing specialists. If you've worked with trucks or heavy vehicles in real life and you understand how they function beyond just the surface, that's exactly the kind of background we're interested in. And of course, experience with our games is a huge plus!

Home to more than 90 exhibits, the museum showcases an impressive collection of machines that trace the rich heritage of Swedish industrial history - a fascinating experience for anyone interested in engineering or heavy machinery. And for the occasion, we had the very best guide imaginable: Jannicke Serneberg, Head of the Munktell Museum.

South Dakota: Custom Depots

Excited to get truckin' in The Coyote State? This post is for you! Today, we're happy to share a look at some of the Custom Depots you'll be delivering cargo to and from in our upcoming South Dakota DLC for American Truck Simulator. Let's hit the road!

Unlike standard prefabs, these depots have been carefully assembled by our map designers using a variety of assets, giving each one a distinct look and feel. Many of them are based on real-world locations, which perhaps some of you might recognise if you live locally or visit South Dakota often.

On your travels, you’ll quickly see just how central farming is to South Dakota’s identity. As the 13th largest agricultural exporting state, there’s certainly no shortage of work to be done! Our talented map and asset teams have recreated farms found across the state to represent this important industry in-game.

One thing we couldn’t miss adding alongside these custom farm depots was the Great Plains Shelterbelt. This large-scale windbreak project began in the 1930s in response to the Dust Bowl, when millions of trees were planted in long belts across the Plains to reduce wind speeds and combat soil erosion.

For farms, the Shelterbelt play an important role, in helping to protect exposed agricultural soils, shielding buildings and livestock from harsh prairie winds, and even improving growing conditions by reducing moisture loss. With only around 4% of South Dakota covered in forest, these purposeful lines of trees stand out across the open landscape, becoming both a practical tool for farmers and an iconic part of the region’s rural scenery.

Farming ain't the only big business in town, though! In the Black Hills, you’ll discover a region rich in history and natural beauty. Best known for its Gold Rush era, natural hot springs and historic railway, this area offers a completely different feel compared to the open plains. It’s also home to carefully managed timber operations that form another part of South Dakota’s working landscape, and one which is represented by our custom depots!

While timber harvesting does take place in the Black Hills, much of the area is protected as National Forest, meaning forestry work is highly regulated and carried out on a smaller scale. Rather than focusing on one specific real world site, our timber depot captures the spirit of these operations, representing the industry as it exists within this unique and historic region.

It's not just what's above ground, but also below! This upcoming DLC will also feature a Quarry in Sioux Falls which is uniquely located within the city, and surrounded by highways and the suburbs. Here, they extract hard metamorphic rock and pink quartzite used in construction, one which has helped shape much of Sioux Falls’ architecture.

Across South Dakota, you'll also spot a familiar sight, Grain Elevators! These specialized agricultural facilities store and handle large quantities of harvested crops. Standing tall as iconic landmarks across the prairie, you won’t travel far without seeing one, and we’re sure you’ll make quite a few deliveries to and from them as well!

With the arrival of March, our Hearts in Bloom World of Trucks event has officially come to a close. Throughout most of February, we celebrated the spirit of Valentine's Day with this special event, and now, it's time to take a moment to wrap things up and dive into some of the event's stats!

As always, we'd like to thank all the 168,414 truckers who participated and helped make it such a wonderful experience, as well as the dedicated team behind this event!

The community set out to complete 600,000 deliveries of Valentine's Presents across Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator - and we're thrilled to say you crushed that goal in just over a week from the event's launch! In total, our incredible #BestCommunityEver delivered 1,257,426 Valentine's Presents cargoes and, in the process, traveled a remarkable 533,701,879 kilometres - beating last year's Valentine event in both milestones!

Congratulations to the 62,370 players who achieved the personal goal of completing 14 Valentine's Presents deliveries! Since the community goal was reached as well, you've earned a special World of Trucks achievement, along with two lovely cabin accessories for both games, designed by our team - the Hearts Blanket and Cupid's Cap.

Benelux Rework: Truckstops & Gas Stations

Today, we are excited to share with you another glimpse into the ongoing development of the Benelux Rework update for Euro Truck Simulator 2. This time, we're taking a closer look at a selection of rebuilt and newly designed rest areas and petrol stations across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

As with every rework project, our aim is not only to refresh older areas visually but to bring them closer to the real-world road network, improving authenticity, variety, and immersion for every driver passing through.

The Netherlands

The Netherlands is well known for its modern infrastructure and carefully planned motorway network, and we have worked hard to reflect that in this rework.

Along the A8, drivers will be able to stop at a refreshed A8 petrol station, offering a compact yet detailed rest area that fits seamlessly into its urban surroundings. Not far from the coast, the IJmuiden petrol station provides a convenient stop for those travelling to and from the North Sea ports, complete with updated signage and contemporary architecture.

One of the highlights of this region is the supermodern eco petrol station on the A28. Inspired by the Netherlands’ forward-thinking approach to sustainability, this location features cutting-edge design elements, solar panels, and a sleek canopy structure that stands out both during the day and at night.

Finally, on the E30, you’ll find Het Lonnekermeer truckstop and petrol station. This larger service area offers ample parking for HGVs, detailed landscaping, and a welcoming rest area atmosphere, making it a perfect stop for long-haul drivers crossing the eastern part of the country.

Belgium

Belgium’s motorway network is a vital corridor for European logistics, and we have significantly reworked many of its service areas to better represent their real-life counterparts.

On the E34 between Antwerp and Turnhout, the E34 Antwerpen–Turnhout truckstop and petrol station has been rebuilt to offer a spacious layout tailored for heavy traffic. Expect realistic parking arrangements and improved access roads that reflect the busy nature of this route.

Near the city of Liège, the newly designed Liège petrol station offers a more urban feel, with updated textures, signage, and surrounding infrastructure that better matches the character of the region.

At the German border, the E40 Lichtenbusch petrol station and border area has received special attention. This location blends motorway services with an international crossing atmosphere, complete with border-related detailing that enhances immersion when travelling between countries.

We are also introducing several French-style “Aire” service areas in Wallonia. Aire de Verlaine and Aire de Saint-Ghislain both feature expanded truck parking, distinct architectural styles, and carefully placed vegetation to capture the feel of Belgian motorway rest areas.

In the scenic Ardennes region, the Wanlin petrol station provides a smaller but characterful stop, surrounded by natural landscapes and designed to break up long journeys through this picturesque area.

Luxembourg

Although smaller in size, Luxembourg remains a significant hub for international freight. On the E421, drivers will discover a fully refreshed E421 petrol station, offering a clean and modern stopping point that reflects the country’s well-maintained road network and strategic position at the heart of Europe.

Across all three countries, our map, asset, and vegetation teams have collaborated to ensure that each truckstop and petrol station feels unique. We know how important service areas are in your journeys, whether you are refuelling, taking a mandatory rest break, or simply enjoying the view during a sunset haul.

Today, we’re delighted to introduce the talented team behind the Scottish portion of the UK Rework project. As part of our ongoing efforts to revitalise one of the earliest regions released for Euro Truck Simulator 2, Scotland is receiving special attention to ensure its breathtaking landscapes, historic cities, and winding rural roads are represented with the care and quality they deserve.

Bringing Scotland up to modern standards is no small task. From its characterful cities and historic landmarks to its sweeping Highlands and intricate road network, there’s a great deal of care and craftsmanship going into every kilometre. As part of the wider UK Rework, three dedicated map teams are working across different areas, and today, we’re shining the spotlight on the talented individuals responsible for Scotland.

"When my team and I finished Scandinavia Refresh, we were given the opportunity to work on another beautiful country. We're facing the challenge of recreating the stunning landscape of the Scottish Highlands while capturing the beautiful and unique architecture of the local towns and cities. Fortunately, I have a team full of very enthusiastic and talented map designers who are eager to create the breathtaking scenery that our community deserves. I really hope that players will enjoy our interpretation of this beautiful country and its mystique."

"I have worked as a map designer for six years. Now, I have the opportunity to work on Scotland, the greatest country in the world. My main focus has been big cities with complex layouts and infrastructure, but now my portfolio also extends to the unique scenery of the Scottish Highlands. Cities in Scotland offer a unique blend of old and new, especially Edinburgh, which is the city I am working on. I am aiming to bring you the best atmosphere Edinburgh can offer with its history, architecture, and its distinct cold yet rich vibe."

I have the privilege of recreating the south of Scotland, from the historical town of Falkirk to the bustling city of Glasgow. This nation is undoubtedly very rich in its history, with beautifully mysterious landscapes hiding sometimes more than it seems at first glance. I will do my best to capture what makes Scotland Scotland, but the final piece is always the players, and I’m already beyond excited for you to take a seat behind the wheel and explore this stunning nation from the cabin of your own truck. "As soon as I looked at the beautiful Scottish Highlands, I knew this would be a project where I could really show my skills. Sculpting tall hills with beautiful landscapes is a challenge I'm ready to face, and nothing can stop me! I joined SCS a year ago, and my skills have already improved so much that I can’t wait to see where they will be after this project. I swear I'll do my best to make it as magical as it looks in real life. Also, I love horses!"

"It's already been almost a year and a half since I started working at SCS, and I somehow still can't believe it. I started off with Scandinavia refresh, and now I am happy to say that I am a part of the UK rework project, specifically Scotland, which in my opinion, is one of the most beautiful countries. I am enjoying working on Scotland. I really enjoyed working on the Eilean Donan Castle, which you may have seen already. Many of my current tasks are situated around the highlands, where the scenery is just breathtaking. I enjoy all of my tasks as they include a lot of mountains, lakes, and mostly the countryside, and I want to capture the nature of Scotland as best I can, so that our players always have something to look at and look forward to seeing the next interesting place on the map. Now I have one question for our players: Do you believe in the Loch Ness monster?"

Bobcat Cargo Pack DLC Release

For more than 60 years, Bobcat has been building compact equipment used by individuals, workers, and businesses across countless industries. Today, we’re excited to announce that drivers in American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2 can now deliver Bobcat equipment across our virtual worlds, supplying in-game industries with the Bobcat Cargo Pack.

Since the late 1950s, they’ve been building compact, hardworking machines designed to get the job done in tight spaces, on tough terrain, and in demanding conditions. They are best known for creating the world's first skid-steer loader, a machine that has become an absolute icon on construction sites worldwide.

It’s only fitting that this legendary piece of equipment takes centre stage in this cargo pack, representing Bobcat’s spirit of versatility, power, and practicality.

Alongside the iconic skid-steer loader, the Bobcat Cargo Pack also brings a selection of machines commonly seen across a range of industrial areas and businesses. From excavators and wheel loaders used on construction sites to forklifts, telehandlers, and support equipment found in depots and farms, these cargoes reflect the everyday work Bobcat machines are trusted to handle.

Every cargo included in this DLC has been created using detailed reference materials and technical information collected and provided during our collaboration, making sure each machine looks and feels right when loaded up on your trailer. The Bobcat Cargo Pack DLC features a variety of equipment from Bobcat's product lineup, giving drivers plenty of new job contracts on the road. This includes:

Compressor - Bobcat PA12.7v
Excavator - Bobcat E60
Forklift - Bobcat D30

In addition to these new cargoes, this DLC also includes a set of Bobcat branded cabin accessories. These include work gloves, a black hard cap, a hard hat, a polo shirt, and a reflective safety vest. Inspired by real world workwear featuring the Bobcat logo, they are the perfect addition to any hardworking trucker’s cabin, and a great reminder that safety always comes first on the job!

Illinois: Settlements

Fresh news from the Prairie State just got delivered! In today's blog, we would like to show you how we are progressing with the Illinois DLC for American Truck Simulator by showcasing a selection of settlements you will discover in this state, so let's dive in.

Apart from the big cities where you will often deliver cargo to and from, you will also encounter these smaller towns on the road. Our map designers are putting together a total of 11 settlements for Illinois, and today, we are showing you a selection of them.

Monmouth

Monmouth is one of the first towns you will discover when driving from Iowa into Illinois, located near the state line in western Illinois, northwest of Peoria. Established in 1831, it serves as the county seat of Warren County. The local economy is rooted in agriculture, and the town is well known for hosting annual maple and beef festivals that celebrate its rural heritage. In the game, Monmouth will be easy to recognize thanks to its beautiful historic landmarks, including the Warren County Courthouse and Monmouth City Hall.

Macomb

Continuing south along Route 67, you'll arrive in Macomb, the county seat of McDonough County, established in 1829. The town is perhaps best known for "Macombopoly", the world's largest game of its kind, featuring oversized game pieces displayed around the lawn of the McDonough County Courthouse. The installation pays tribute to the classic board game and its inspiration, which was created by one of the town's residents. To reflect this unique piece of local history, a recreation of the courthouse, along with one of the statues that commemorates this connection, has been included in the map.

El Paso

At the junction of Interstate 39 and Route 24 lies the small town of El Paso, home to just over 2,000 residents. In the past, El Paso served as an important railroad hub. Its local freight depot became historically significant and, following the decline of rail transport, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In later years, the depot was transformed into an archbishop center, which is now a distinctive local landmark that has also been recreated in the game.

Chenoa

Chenoa, located in McLean County, is one of the towns along the historic Route 66. In recognition of this iconic highway, the game features a roadside attraction inspired by its real-world counterpart in Chenoa, paying tribute to the legendary route. Farther along the road, you'll also spot a recreation of a small historic red wooden house, which today operates as a gift shop.

Gilman

Continuing on Route 24 from Chenoa, you will arrive in the town of Gilman. Being located on the intersection of Interstate 57, Route 24, and Route 45, it has been nicknamed "The City of the Crossroads", which is also reflected on its welcome sign in the real world and our game as well.

Beardstown

In the western part of the state lies the city of Beardstown, historically known as the "Belle of the Bend" because of its prominent location on a curve of the Illinois River. The town's characteristic name comes from its founder, Thomas Beard, who settled there in 1819, when he built a log cabin at the edge of the river, from which he traded with the local native Americans and ran a ferry.

SCS On The Road: Dodge Charger 69 Walk-around + Veterani Na Truc Interview

We’re back with a brand new episode of our SCS On The Road series! Last year, we had the privilege of visiting and taking a look around Veteráni na Truc, a local Czech company specialising in importing, selling, and servicing heritage and classic cars, as well as American vehicles, in Czechia. Here, we had the opportunity to get up close to some truly iconic machines, including the legendary 1969 Dodge Charger!

The Dodge Charger is an iconic American muscle car, instantly recognisable thanks to its bold fastback design and unmistakable presence on the road. Powered by a range of legendary V8 engines, this classic car has become a symbol of raw performance, leaving a lasting mark on automotive history and popular culture alike. So, for us to have the opportunity to see one up close in our home country was something quite special! We couldn’t leave without taking the time for a walk-around of this legend and sharing it with you.

We’d like to extend a big thank you to the brothers Ondřej and Jiří Truc, Jan Lancinger and the fantastic team at Veteráni na Truc, for welcoming us, sharing their storiy, and allowing us to record it for you. What started as a family passion has grown into a well-known Czech specialist in classic, heritage, and American cars, with a strong focus on preserving automotive history, much of which you’ll hear about in this episode.

Of course, there was some important work to be done too, as we also spent time capturing valuable reference material, including video footage and authentic vehicle sounds from their collection for our upcoming American Truck Simulator Road Trip DLC!

UK Rework: Meet the Team - England + Wales

Today, we're excited to introduce part of the team behind the UK Rework Project, which plans to deliver a long-anticipated refresh to one of the earliest regions included at the launch of Euro Truck Simulator 2. If you'd like to learn more about this project, you can take a read of our previous annoucement blog here.

The rework of the UK is a significant undertaking. With so many cities, towns, settlements, landmarks, and road networks, it was necessary to have more than one team working on this project.

The UK Rework consists of three dedicated teams, each responsible for their own areas and today, you’ll get to hear from two of them! Each team member featured here has prepared a short message for you, including a few hints and small snippets about what they’re currently working on. We hope you enjoy reading them!

Southern England + Wales (inc Liverpool + Sheffield)

Abbe - Map DLC Lead

"People say I am the best boss! My journey at SCS Software began more than eight years ago. After working primarily as a city map designer (Daugavpils, Mangalia, and the community “favourite,” București, as well as parts of Madrid), I became a Map DLC Lead in late 2020. Since then, I have designed and overseen the reworks of Austria and all of the German cities. I have also collaborated on parts of Switzerland’s rework and contributed to the initial design for the Scandinavia reskin.

The rework of the UK is my dream project, as many of you probably know from the UK rework announcement blog post. I am truly in awe of the incredible team working on this project. Everyone is passionate, even about the smallest details. I hope you will have just as much fun exploring the new content in the UK as we are having implementing it on the map."

Tomas V - Senior Map Designer

"I have been working at SCS Software for almost six years now as a map designer. My first tasks consisted of reworking German landscapes, including fields and small towns around the highways, but I wanted to focus on something more urban and complex. On the Switzerland Rework project, I was assigned to work on the city of Bern. After that, I worked on some German cities, such as Hamburg and Berlin. On the UK team, I am a part of the preproduction team and have worked on early layouts."

Martin O - Senior Map Designer

"My journey with SCS Software games started in the summer of 2013, when I bought a copy of ETS2 to play during the holidays. I was immediately hooked and spent countless hours playing it over the following years. During the 'COVID year' of 2020, I decided to follow my passion and applied for a job opening at SCS. Luckily, I was accepted and since then, I’ve worked on the reworks of Austria and German cities, and helped with various bits and pieces on other map projects.

I am also responsible for the initial training of new map designers for ETS2. In my free time, I enjoy cycling and hiking. My favorite game genres are driving and racing simulators, as well as city builders. From a fan’s standpoint, I really like what is being created in the UK Rework project, and I’m sure you will enjoy it as well when it is eventually released."

Bety S - Senior Map Designer

"Hello truckers, my name is Bety, and I have been working at SCS for almost four years. SCS is my first job after finishing my postgraduate studies in the UK, where I studied computer games modelling and animation. I have many good memories of my time in England, so I am thrilled to be part of the UK rework team and to help bring out the best the UK has to offer.

While helping to finalize the first drafts of the UK layouts, I also assisted with selecting generic assets of various kinds, including houses, flats, walls, administrative buildings, and other props, to make it immediately clear to players which locations they are driving through.

Previously, I contributed to almost every recent map project, from the Germany Rework to Nordic Horizons. I worked on optimizing and polishing various areas of the map, but my main focus has been, and will continue to be, on creating intriguing and engaging cities."

Daniel C - Map Designer

"Hi, my name's Dan, I've been a map designer for nearly three years and after a few rather cool cities like Brussels or Osnabrück, I'm now proudly working on my biggest project yet. London. With its unusually complex road system, world famous landmarks and the left-hand traffic that has given me some funny stories to tell when I'm leaving work by car, I can honestly say that I can't wait to bring this city to our game.

I've given myself a goal to lead our players through the city's most iconic places, and although it's impossible to fit all of the cool junctions, famous landmarks and wild roundabouts in, I'm quite happy with how it's turning out. I really think you'll like it and please don't forget to look right when crossing the street. Cheers!

Dárius L - Map designer

"Hi everyone! I may still be relatively new at SCS, having joined about a year and a half ago as a passionate modder, but I’ve already had the chance to contribute to several major projects, including Nordic Horizons and the Scandinavia Reskin. I mainly focus on city building and road network design.

I’m really excited to be part of something as ambitious as the UK Rework. Ever since my first visit to the UK, I’ve fallen in love with the country, so helping to shape it in-game means a great deal to me. I’ll be putting care and passion into every detail to capture its true character. I can’t wait to see the rework come together, and even more to drive through it myself (purely for quality assurance, of course). See you on the road!"

"I have been working as a Map Designer at SCS for a year and a half and I’m still relatively new to the company. During that time, I have contributed to the Scandinavia Reskin and the Nordic Horizons DLC.

I’m currently working on the UK, focusing on building a believable and functional game world. I enjoy the creative side of map design, especially building more complex road structures and junctions. It’s motivating for me when players enjoy driving through the areas I helped build and find them enjoyable and memorable."

Dominik K - Junior Map Designer

"I joined SCS less than a year ago as a long-time city-building and strategy game fan. The UK rework is the first project I’ve been involved in, and it has given me the chance to bring my passion for city-building into the game. I’ve had the honour of working on Hastings and Stonehenge in southern England, both of which you might have spotted in the teaser trailer.

Right now, I’m working on Portsmouth and Southampton. I’m doing my best to capture their unique atmosphere and bring it into the game with plenty of small details. We’re putting a lot of heart and care into this project, and I really hope you’ll enjoy the final result!"

Týna - Junior Map Designer

"Hello everyone. I joined SCS last year after spending a couple of years working as a graphic designer, and I’ve since found myself in the role of a map designer, which I’m honestly loving. The UK rework is the first project I’ve dived into. I visited the UK before and fell in love with it, especially the countryside, so being part of this project is genuinely exciting.

I’m mainly focusing on roads, but I’ll also be creating my first settlement. I think it’s going to be an awesome experience. We’ve got a bunch of great and talented people on the team, and together we’re cooking up something really cool. You definitely have a lot to look forward to!"

I joined SCS Software after many years in the ProMods community, where I worked extensively on large-scale map projects and team coordination. Coming from a community-driven modding environment, I’m passionate about collaboration, iteration, and building high-quality worlds together. "Hello! After releasing Nordic Horizons, I moved to work on the UK. My work is mostly the same, communicating with everyone (mainly my team) and making sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.

The biggest challenge from a map design perspective is handling all the complex junctions, giving them enough space while still ensuring there’s a good road distance between cities. My favourite part is the beautiful architecture of the cities. Whether we’re in Wales or northern England, everything feels distinctive yet connected, and hopefully we’ll be able to capture it as faithfully and respectfully as possible!"

Josef V - Senior Map designer

"Greetings! I have been building cities in games as a developer since 2002. My collaboration with SCS started in 2014, so I've had the opportunity to participate in several projects like Scandinavia, Vive la France, Italia, Iberia, West Balkans and Nordic Horizons. What always amazes me is the professionalism, creativity and friendliness of every team I have worked with.

The UK team follows this tradition that is from my point of view embedded directly into the SCS DNA. It is a pleasure, challenge and hobby too, to work on this new project. And it brings many fond memories as well, as I have a weakness for the British Isles and I have visited them on countless occasions."

"Hi everyone! I’m a Map Designer at SCS Software, and right now I’m working hard on the UK rework. I’ve always been fascinated by the British road network, especially the dense cities and the huge number of complex junctions.

My favorite part is definitely the legendary 'Magic Roundabouts'; they are such a unique challenge to recreate in the game! I’m doing my best to make the English roads feel authentic and interesting for you to drive. See you on the left side of the road!"

"Greetings to our loyal fans. I’m happy to have this opportunity to show my appreciation to all of you. Although I’m still relatively new here, with just over two years of experience in level design and production, I’ve had the chance to work on Greece, Nordic Horizons, and now the UK rework. It always warms my heart to hear positive feedback from our players, but don’t go too easy on us, as constructive criticism gives us the opportunity to improve!

This time, I’m once again working on some larger cities, and I’ll do my best to keep them looking fresh and unique, with lots of nature and vegetation, so you all won’t get bored of them too easily. "Hi! I’ve been part of SCS for over five years, helping to bring scenic landscapes to players through forests, water viewpoints, and now the open countryside of the UK. After working on regions like Austria, Switzerland, and Sweden, I’m excited to shift from dense Nordic forests to detailed UK fields and even contribute to some of the country’s most iconic highland terrain. I’m really looking forward for you to experience it!"

Michael P - Map designer

"Hey players, I’ve been working at SCS for three years now. Some of the most notable parts of the map I’ve worked on include the cities of Kiruna and Mo i Rana, as well as several custom depots in the Nordic Horizons DLC. This time, I’m working on the UK’s biggest port, along with a ferry terminal on the other side of the river. I won’t reveal the city names just yet, but these hints should be enough. ;)

In addition to that, I’ll be working on more custom depots. Outside of map work, I’ll also be keeping an eye on the trains created for this rework, as I’m a big train enthusiast. Thank you for playing!"

"Ahoy, mateys! I’ve been part of the SCS crew for over ten years now… As you can see, the King of the Road pin has already dropped into my lap, and I’d love to see more of them coming, wish me luck! "After a hectic year on Nordic Horizons DLC, I have sailed to the eastern shores of England and settled in Cambridge, a beautiful and historic city. I will try to capture the character of a part of the city and its surroundings and give you as authentic a feeling as possible while passing through it. Given the limited space, it is a bit of a challenge, but I believe that I will be able to do work that will make you want to return to places like Cambridge, which our new UK rework project will offer you."

"Hello there! I've been with SCS for three years now, with most of my time spent on the Nordic Horizons DLC, mainly Norway and Sweden. And after fjords and mountains, I switched the magnificent scenery for calmer, but no less magnificent, fields and hills of the northern part of England. I'm quite delighted by the numerous sheep pastures. Cheers, everyone, see you soon between the hedges!"
