PSA’s Matt Barnette and SIA’s Don Erickson are running a marathon to raise money for FAST

FAST is focused on helping students find out about the security industry and those in it to move up

Barnette and Erickson are running the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in San Diego May 31

Forget about the Avengers, the Superfriends or the Masters of the Universe. In the security industry, the biggest superheroes are PSA Security president and chief executive officer Matt Barnette and Security Industry Association Don Erickson, who are teaming up May 31 to raise money to boost the entire sector.

Barnette and Erickson will run the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in San Diego in an effort to raise funds for the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST), an effort led by SIA, PSA and the Electronic Security Association (ESA) to enhance workforce development and talent outreach in the security industry.

Erickson, who ran 14 half- and full marathons last year to raise money for FAST, says Barnette, who has about 20 marathons under his belt but last ran one in 2020, was the only person he asked to team up with him on this year’s fundraising effort.

“Having (Barnette) get behind something like this on behalf of FAST, he was an obvious person,” says Erickson, who’s run 11 marathons in his life. “He was the obvious person to do it because of the PSA community as well as his relationship with the technology providers.”

“And I was okay with following him at the finish line. I have no shame in that,” he says with a laugh.

Erickson jokes that he “publicly shamed” Barnette into joining him for this year’s marathon in front of some of his PSA staff members during an industry awards night. Barnette admits he thought his days of running marathons were over but he’s happy to do it for such a worth cause.

“I’m going to have a little stroller that I’m going to tie tethered to Don and he’s going to pull me around,” says Barnette with a laugh. “I imagine the last 13 miles are going to be a struggle. The good news is San Diego is fairly flat once you get through the first couple sections.

“So it’s going to be a challenge but a worthy challenge, as Don said. It’s worth the effort to try to raise awareness and hopefully funding for FAST, so I’m excited,” he says, noting he’ll be contributing money for every mile out of his own pocket too.

Why Are Barnette and Erickson Running for FAST?

Having five members representing PSA on the FAST board of directors has expanded the foundation’s outreach and broadened its idea base, says Erickson.

“I feel like we’re finally coordinated with a real clear purpose about what we’re trying to do,” he says. “What we’re trying to do most specifically falls in probably two or three areas. We want to provide really good data to the industry about compensation.

“Second, we’ve got to do a better job of telling the story of why individuals should come into the industry, you know, through campus outreach and other means, trade schools, community colleges, or move up in the industry,” says Erickson. “So, career pathways, defining knowledge, skills and abilities you need to move forward is a project we’re working on.”

The FAST board also need to identify what the emerging skills are going forward three to five years, he says.

“But it has to happen faster,” says Erickson. “It’s a startup foundation but now we’ve got to move. We’ve got to be more mature with the foundation and actually show some tangible results and I think we’ll see that through college outreach, like the number of people that are participating.”

Barnette is proud to have PSA join the FAST board and the marathon is one way to spread the word.

“The gravitational pull on this industry is getting larger and larger,” he says. “I think it’s an excellent career for anybody, young adults especially. I keep hearing about the unemployment rate for college graduates right now is incredibly high. We just have to get the publicity out there about what this industry has to offer.

“Anything we can do to promote awareness about FAST and the industry and get in front of people and really educate on what the opportunities are here, it will be to the benefit of the entire industry, not just to PSA or SIA specifically, but to the industry in general, because it is the number one problem that everybody talks about,” says Barnette.

Rooting Them on to the Finish Line

SIA chief executive officer Don Erickson ran 14 half- and full marathons last year to benefit FAST. (Photo courtesy of Security Industry Association)

Erickson targeted the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in San Diego as part of SIA’s continued outreach to the West Coast, which also includes plans for the AcceleRISE event in San Diego in August. Barnette and Erickson are still deciding whether they’ll wear matching shirts or separate ones representing their member companies.

“Hopefully, we can get some of our member companies to turn out and at least watch part of this,” says Erickson. “We have a number of companies that are within driving distance of San Diego, so hopefully we’ll have some spectators. That was part of the motivation as well: just have more of a presence out there in a fun way.”

PSA has “quite a few members in California, San Diego and L.A. County specifically,” says Barnette, who spent five years in San Diego during and after college.

“I’m always surprised,” he says. “The least likely people will just show up at these things and not even really give you a heads-up. It definitely gives you the encouragement when you see a friendly face along the way. And I stop and chit-chat and maybe have a Starbucks with them, because I’m not going to be in the winner’s bracket here.”

Barnette, who has run the half-marathon in San Diego but never the full 26.2 miles, says his wife and kids will be rooting him on to the finish line for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. He expects to see them at the start of the race and at the finish line and possibly once in the middle.

Erickson will be joined on the course by his son Liam, who will be a senior at Virginia Tech in the fall after interning this summer at KASTLE Systems, and SIA senior director of industry relations Ron Hawkins.

They’ll be running the half-marathon in San Diego, says Erickson. Both he and Barnette expect they’ll see other familiar faces along the 26.2-mile route with representatives from SIA and PSA member companies cheering them on from the sidelines.

“It’s easy to underestimate how having just random people on the side of the road cheering makes such a big difference,” says Barnette.

Singlewire Software recently released its new report, “2026 State of Safety & Operational Readiness in K-12 Schools.”

The report follows Singlewire’s inaugural 2025 School Entrance study.

This year’s research revealing “a critical disconnect between school safety priorities and the daily reality of campus security.”

MADISON, Wis. — Singlewire Software recently released the findings of its new report, “2026 State of Safety & Operational Readiness in K-12 Schools.”

Following up on its inaugural 2025 School Entrance study, this year’s research captured responses from more than 500 school staff members across the United States, revealing “a critical disconnect between school safety priorities and the daily reality of campus security,” according to the company announcement.

“Prioritizing school safety means recognizing that security vulnerabilities aren’t limited to the front door—they are rooted in operational gaps across the entire campus,” says Terry Swanson, president and CEO of Singlewire Software, in the announcement.

“With staff shortages rising and critical disparities emerging, reactive measures are no longer sufficient,” he says. “Schools have the opportunity to empower every staff member, streamline daily accountability processes and ensure that real-time help is accessible wherever and whenever an emergency arises.”

What’s in the Singlewire K-12 Security Report?

The 2026 State of Safety & Operational Readiness in K-12 Schools highlights several key insights, including:

Staffing challenges are impacting safety protocols: Lack of human resources have become a primary security vulnerability for schools. “Lack of staff” was cited as the top security challenge for schools, jumping from 30% in 2025 to 46% in 2026. As schools struggle to find personnel to monitor hallways and entrances, the report suggests that automation and integrated technology must bridge the gap to maintain existing safety protocols.

Panic buttons aren’t always accessible to school teachers: A massive equipment gap exists between school safety goals and the tools provided to frontline educators. The report reveals that 38% of teachers have no panic button at all, and only 10% have access to a wearable solution.

This lack of mobile technology leaves teachers either tethered to a desk during a crisis or without any way to call for help. This disparity is reflected in a sharp perception gap: while 79% of security staff believe school entrances are secure, only 55% of teachers— who experience these vulnerabilities firsthand— agree.

Vulnerabilities extend beyond the classroom: While school safety often centers on the classroom, over 50% of respondents identify parking lots and outdoor areas as their most vulnerable zones. Fixed panic buttons are restricted by their location, but wearable technology and mobile apps offer the capacity to extend the security perimeter.

By providing a flexible alternative to stationary hardware, these mobile tools are designed to adapt to a staff member’s location— bringing help wherever it is needed most.

Entrance security remains a persistent challenge: The report found that 86% of staff say securing the front entrance is a top or high priority, yet only 16% feel their entrance is “completely secure.” These figures remain virtually unchanged from 2025, underscoring the ongoing logistical and budgetary challenges schools face when transitioning from identifying security needs to implementing comprehensive, long-term solutions.

Analog hall passes are creating a student visibility gap: The report found that nearly 75% of schools are still using analog methods to excuse students from class, creating a visibility gap for student accountability.

Outdated dismissal systems yield ongoing security risks: The report found that 63% of respondents said that they experience dismissal-related issues that require staff intervention at least on a monthly basis as a result of antiquated or ineffective dismissal methods, exposing a security gap many schools rarely even consider.

The post PASS K-12: Expanded Guidance on Door Locks and Access Control appeared first on Security Sales & Integration.

The release of the 7th edition of the Partner Alliance for Safer Schools (PASS) Guidelines marks the most comprehensive update to date in school safety standards.

Developed in collaboration with educators, security professionals, law enforcement and industry experts, the guidelines provide school leaders with a framework for layered, tiered security practices that address the complex challenges facing today’s campuses and buildings.

PASS guidelines are vendor-neutral and focus on defining functional and performance expectations rather than endorsing specific manufacturers or products. The examples below illustrate ways districts can align with PASS recommendations while maintaining code compliance and operational flexibility.

Why Does the 7th Edition of PASS K-12 Matter?

School safety is not a static objective. It evolves in response to new threats, codes and community expectations. The 7th Edition introduces several key enhancements, including greater emphasis on door locks and access control, expanded guidance on visitor entry processes and a more integrated focus on digital infrastructure security.

For school administrators, the challenge is not only “what should we do?” but also “how do we prioritize?” The PASS tiered model addresses this, starting with Tier 1 baseline measures that every school should implement and progressing through more advanced Tier 2-4 approaches based on risk assessments and available resources.

With this roadmap, leaders can avoid common pitfalls such as investing in advanced technology without first addressing foundational needs.

What Are Some of the PASS K-12 7th Edition Updates?

One of the most significant updates in the 7th Edition is the elevation of inside-lockable classroom doors from Tier 2 to Tier 1. This shift underscores the crucial importance of ensuring that every classroom can be secured quickly from the inside, without the need for keys or complex motions.

Research and incident reviews have shown that during high-stress situations, fine motor skills deteriorate, making simple, intuitive locking mechanisms a necessity. Below are the PASS guidelines pertaining to classroom access control:

“While many types of mechanical and electronic locks are available, certain functionality is essential for classroom doors (and other shelter-in-place doors) from a safety and security standpoint.

Classroom locks should be specifically designed for classroom doors and lockable from the inside of the room.

Any lock must allow keyed or electronic access from the corridor side for access by authorized personnel without a special tool or knowledge.

Any lock shall always allow free egress from the inside of the room.

Locks should ideally have a visual indicator so that the condition of the lock (locked or unlocked) is visible to room occupants.”

Add-on retrofit solutions for existing cylindrical or mortise locks (with sectional trim) that provide single-motion interior locking have emerged as one approach districts may consider when striving to meet Tier 1 functional requirements.

Unlike barricade devices — which PASS explicitly cautions against due to safety code violations and ADA noncompliance — properly designed retrofit or replacement hardware solutions can provide a code-compliant interior locking mechanism while preserving free egress and authorized corridor-side access.

For administrators facing budget constraints, retrofit pathways may provide a cost-effective method to align with PASS Tier 1 criteria without requiring full door replacement. Districts should collaborate with local life safety officials and code authorities to confirm compliance with current and forthcoming building and fire code requirements.

Visitor Management and the Use of Video Intercoms

The building perimeter layer is another focus area in the PASS 7th Edition, with heightened emphasis on visitor management. Schools remain highly vulnerable at entry points, where administrators must balance a welcoming environment with structured security protocols.

The guidelines recommend adopting Tier 1 visitor identification and badging systems, progressing toward electronic visitor management systems with enhanced screening capabilities at higher tiers.

Integrated video intercom and access control platforms can support these objectives by enabling staff to visually and verbally verify visitors before granting entry. For example, ASSA ABLOY’s IP video intercom platform combines visitor communication, credential validation and controlled access within a unified interface.

When deployed as part of a broader safety architecture, such systems can align with PASS building perimeter recommendations and support coordinated emergency communication workflows. Depending on jurisdictional requirements, integration capabilities may also assist districts as they evaluate compliance with state-level panic alert legislation, including Alyssa’s Law.

The open architecture of modern IP-based intercom systems can further support integration with electronic access control systems, visitor management databases and other security technologies, contributing to a more unified and auditable security ecosystem.

Campus Perimeter Considerations

Beyond the building perimeter, the campus exterior layer introduces additional complexities, particularly in managing traffic flow, parking lots and student pick-up zones — areas frequently identified as operational and safety challenges.

Ultra-high frequency (UHF) long-range readers represent one technology option districts may evaluate when implementing Tier 2-4 campus perimeter controls. By leveraging credential-based vehicle recognition, these systems can support automated vehicle identification for parents and staff, streamline dismissal procedures and enhance perimeter oversight.

As with all PASS-aligned measures, implementation should follow documented risk assessment and coordination with district leadership and local authorities.

When integrated with video surveillance and mass notification systems, campus perimeter technologies can extend visibility and operational awareness beyond the building itself.

Toward Unified, Code-Compliant Security

The PASS 7th Edition makes it clear that securing K-12 schools requires more than reacting to isolated incidents or deploying standalone devices. It demands a strategic, layered and code-compliant approach that balances prevention, protection and preparedness.

For administrators, the task is complex but with structured guidance from PASS and carefully selected, interoperable solutions, it is achievable.

Districts that align hardware, access control, visitor management and perimeter strategies within a broader safety framework move beyond minimum compliance toward cohesive, resilient security ecosystems. In doing so, they reinforce safety not only as a regulatory requirement but as a sustained community commitment.

Bill Shaughnessy is marketing communications manager at ASSA ABLOY.

IRVING, Texas — The Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year Award has always recognized the best of the best, honoring “someone who shines as truly stellar in the security industry,” according to an announcement this week by the Electronic Security Association (ESA).

This year’s recipient – Electronic Security Expo chairman George De Marco – has well earned that distinction, having devoted the last 40-plus years of his career to the industry. And, like so many others, De Marco “started in the industry purely by chance and has decidedly remained in it purely by choice,” the announcement says.

“I grew up in a family with a strong Italian heritage, where many of our relatives and close family friends were business owners,” says De Marco, an SSI Industry Hall of Famer, in the ESA announcement. “They came from all walks of life, but they all shared that same entrepreneurial spirit.

“Being around that had a big influence on me. I always knew I wanted to build something of my own, I just didn’t know what that would be,” he says.

The Weinstock Award celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Why Did ESA Give De Marco the 2026 Weinstock Award?

De Marco’s association involvement began in the mid-1980s at the local level with the Orange County Alarm Association, where he served in several leadership roles including president. OCAA was one of 11 regional chapters of the Western Burglar and Fire Alarm Association, which became the California Alarm Association.

“What truly pulled me in was advocacy, industry insight and the power of learning from others,” he says in the ESA announcement. “As challenges and opportunities arose, the importance of a strong collective voice became undeniable.”

De Marco has served in committee and board positions, helped launch the Executive Symposium — Foundations for Growth, which ran for 24 years, served as a founding member of the WBFAA Apprenticeship Program and was appointed by the state of California to the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services.

During that time, he was also involved in addressing some of the industry’s most pressing challenges, including non-response policies from municipalities, Regional Bell Operating Companies (RBOC) issues and licensing requirements. The WBFAA’s charter chapter program further connected him to ESA.

“I was approached early on by John Galante, George Gunning, and John Murphy and asked if I would consider serving as chairman to help get ESX off the ground,” says De Marco in the ESA announcement. “The vision was simple but powerful: create an event built by the industry, for the industry.”

The first ESX event was launched in 2008 in Nashville through a collaboration among the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA), the NBFAA and AE Ventures. Over time, the structure evolved, with ESA ultimately assuming full ownership in 2021.

“This role as ESX chairman deepened my involvement with ESA significantly, particularly in the formative years of guiding and building the event into what it is today,” says De Marco in the announcement. “At the time, the expectation was that I would help for a few years, but here we are, 18 years later, and I’m still in the chairman.”

LINCOLN, Neb. — Securitas Healthcare, a provider of real-time visibility and protection solutions for the healthcare industry, recently announced the acquisition of ZulaFly, a healthcare-focused real-time location system (RTLS) and staff safety technology company known for its cloud-based platform.

ZulaFly’s cloud-based RTLS platform “delivers real-time visibility and actionable insights through a flexible, data-driven architecture,” according to the joint announcement. “Built as a single SOC 2 Type II–compliant instance, ZulaFly offers an intuitive user experience, easy configuration, standardized data models, centralized analytics and simplified system management.

“This approach enables healthcare organizations to deploy faster, gain insights sooner and reduce long-term total cost of ownership,” the announcement says.

“This acquisition aligns with our focus and commitment to delivering best-in-class RTLS solutions across both cloud-based and on-premise options, keeping our healthcare clients at the center of everything we do,” said Tony Byerly, global president and CEO of Securitas Technology, SSI’s 2025 Installer of the Year, in the joint announcement.

“We are proud to welcome the talented ZulaFly team to Securitas Healthcare and look forward to offering added value for our clients worldwide,” he says.

Why Did Securitas Healthcare Acquire ZulaFly?

The ZulaFly acquisition “strengthens Securitas Healthcare’s innovation strategy—expanding its ability to deliver cloud-based solutions while continuing to support on-premises deployments—reflecting growing market demand for flexible adoption models and enabling healthcare organizations to evolve at their own pace with a clear path to the cloud,” according to the joint announcement.

“Healthcare organizations are under increasing pressure to improve safety, operate more efficiently, and modernize technology in environments where reliability is critical,” says Bill McCarthy, president of Securitas Healthcare, in the joint announcement.

“ZulaFly advances our RTLS platform strategy by extending our cloud capabilities while continuing to support on-prem environments—translating our long-term vision into flexible deployment options that align with how healthcare organizations operate today,” he says. “This enables our clients to manage complexity, scale with confidence, and realize faster speed to value while better supporting the people and environments they serve.”

Securitas Healthcare and ZulaFly “will continue advancing technology that helps healthcare organizations create safe, secure and efficient care environments—enabling care teams and leaders to focus on what matters most,” according to the joint announcement.

“This marks an important step forward for ZulaFly,” says Stephanie Andersen, CEO and managing partner of ZulaFly, in the joint announcement. “Securitas Healthcare shares our focus on healthcare and client success, as well as the belief that thoughtfully designed technology can drive meaningful improvement in care environments.

“Together, our combined cloud-based technology and workflow expertise enable us to deliver flexible, future-ready solutions that help healthcare organizations operate more effectively,” she says.

We’re still a little bit confused about the need for and purpose behind electric bicycles, but one thing we know for sure is they’re allowed to drive on the sidewalk, while cars most certainly are not. Then again, the latest batch of Surveillance Videos of the Week may say otherwise, at least in one instance.

Other top surveillance videos this week include a father-and-son duo helping to rescue a family of six from their drowning boat in Florida, a pair of hikers taken from Yellowstone National Park after an apparent bear attack, a shootout on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and a Texas father who shot and killed a carjacker as he attempted to steal the man’s car with his family inside the vehicle.

We’re starting to think Florida, Texas and our nation’s capital might be hotbeds of Surveillance Videos of the Week activity, but that probably makes sense given the number of unusual criminal activity there over the years!

ALEXANDRIA, Va., and SILVER SPRING, Md.—ASIS International and the Security Industry Association (SIA) have announced the 2026 agenda and speaker lineup for Security LeadHER, a special event dedicated to “advancing, connecting and empowering women in the security profession.”

The fourth annual Security LeadHER conference is scheduled for Monday, June 15 and Tuesday, June 16 at the Hilton Minneapolis in Minneapolis.

“This year’s Security LeadHER lineup and overall program is nothing short of exceptional,” says Candice Aragon, SIA Women in Security Forum chairperson and chief experience officer at PSA, in the event announcement. “We’ve brought together an incredible group of leaders, innovators and changemakers who are shaping the future of security in real time.

“But beyond the content, what makes Security LeadHER so powerful is the community; it’s a place where women in our industry find connection, support and a true sense of belonging,” she says.

What’s on the Security LeadHER 2026 Conference Agenda?

This year’s Security LeadHER conference includes three dynamic keynote presentations:

SILVER SPRING, Md.—The Security Industry Association (SIA) has named Convergint account executive Nathan Wells as the first-ever recipient of the SIA Valuing Experience, Talent and Service (VETS) Award, presented by SIA’s Veterans in Security community.

SIA will present Wells with the award at SIA GovSummit, SIA’s annual public policy and government security technology conference, scheduled for May 20-21 in Washington, D.C.

The VETS Award honors an individual “who has shown exceptional dedication to supporting military veterans in the security industry,” according to the SIA announcement. It “recognizes leadership in championing veteran recruitment, mentoring and career development as well as advocating for initiatives that ease the transition from military to civilian roles.”

Why Did Nathan Wells Win the First SIA VETS Award?

Wells, a U.S. Navy veteran, has more than 20 years of experience leading strategic security initiatives for enterprise clients in the utility, government and critical infrastructure sectors. Beyond his professional success in driving revenue and optimizing complex security programs, he serves as the chairman of Convergint Veterans Connect. Under Wells’ leadership, the initiative grew from 40 to more than 100 members in 18 months.

His work focuses on “bridging the gap between military service and civilian career success, partnering with organizations like SIA to provide veterans with the tools, community and mentorship needed to thrive in the private sector,” according to the SIA announcement.

“I am deeply honored to receive the SIA VETS Award, but the real reward has been watching my fellow veterans realize that their service didn’t end when they took off the uniform,” said Wells. “In the security industry, we have a unique opportunity to give these men and women a place where their leadership and heart for protection truly belong.”

Wells’ veteran engagement efforts also include mentoring participants in Convergint’s College Development Program supporting early-career professionals, contributing more than 150 hours of volunteer service in 2025 in support of the veteran community.

He has also provided leadership and support at local Veterans Affairs health care facilities and assisted living centers, providing guidance to transitioning service members and veterans integrating into the civilian workforce, leading the development of a nationwide Veterans Day campaign and ongoing veteran recognition initiatives.

“SIA is proud to present the first-ever Valuing Experience, Talent and Service Award to Nathan Wells, valued veteran and an impressive leader who has had a strong impact on advancing veterans in our industry,” says SIA CEO Don Erickson in the association announcement.

“Nathan exemplifies the ideals of veteran leadership and service through a lasting commitment to mission, community and the development of others,” he says. “We thank Nathan for the meaningful work he has done to improve workplace opportunities and support for the veteran and military members of the security field and look forward to recognizing him at the 2026 SIA GovSummit.”

i-PRO Americas recently launched i-PRO University training and certification program.

i-PRO University will support industry‑wide workforce development and address the growing demand for skilled security professionals.

The launch of i‑PRO University reflects i‑PRO’s commitment to preparing for the next phase of intelligent, secure and responsible security system deployment.

HOUSTON — Global professional security and public safety solutions provider i-PRO Americas Inc., has launched i-PRO University, a training and certification program designed to “support industry‑wide workforce development and help address the growing demand for skilled security professionals.”

The launch of i-PRO University “reflects a broader transformation underway in the security industry,” according to the i-PRO announcement. “As physical security systems converge with IT infrastructure, integrators are expected to understand AI-enabled edge analytics, cybersecurity frameworks, data governance and measurable operational outcomes.

“At the same time, the industry faces a significant skills gap with demand outpacing the availability of trained technicians and sales professionals who can navigate complex, software-driven deployments,” the announcement says.

As highlighted in i‑PRO’s 2026 industry outlook, advances in artificial intelligence, edge computing and cloud‑based security systems “only deliver value when deployed and managed by skilled professionals,” according to the company announcement.

“Addressing the industry’s skills gap is therefore critical to ensuring these technologies are used securely, responsibly and effectively,” the announcement says.

i‑PRO University “introduces brand‑agnostic technical and sales training designed to strengthen the overall capability of the physical security industry,” according to the company announcement. The training “addresses best practices for deploying AI-enabled cameras, network configuration, cybersecurity hardening and consultative selling techniques applicable across modern security platforms.”

Why Did i-PRO Launch i-PRO University?

The launch of i‑PRO University “reflects i‑PRO’s broader commitment to preparing the industry for the next phase of intelligent, secure and responsible security system deployment,” according to the company announcement.

“i-PRO University provides a fresh approach to training physical security professionals with the goal of building and sustaining professional development and the continued growth of our industry,” says Adrian Voorkamp, director of learning at i-PRO, in the company announcement.

“This innovative training includes brand-agnostic courses which are open to our network of i-PRO certified partners as well as any resellers, consultants, A&Es and individuals who wish to strengthen their skillsets and advance their careers.”

i-PRO University provides a practical framework for onboarding new personnel faster, strengthening technical expertise, and improving sales performance. The program consists of two primary learning tracks at the Associate, Professional and Expert levels:

Technical Training covers product-agnostic fundamentals alongside detailed instruction on i‑PRO technologies and platforms, preparing integrators to design, deploy and support modern AI-enabled edge systems built on open platforms and containerized applications. As these devices become more powerful and customizable, the program equips participants with the practical expertise required to manage increasingly sophisticated environments. Cybersecurity is embedded throughout as an ongoing operational discipline, with focused training on secure device configuration, firmware management, network segmentation, and long-term lifecycle support to ensure resilient, compliant deployments. This approach helps ensure that increasingly powerful AI‑enabled edge devices are deployed responsibly, securely and to their full operational potential.

Sales training focuses on consultative selling in an era of converged security and IT, helping resellers articulate ROI, operational insights, risk mitigation and compliance value rather than competing solely on hardware specifications helping customers translate advanced technology into tangible business and operational outcomes.

i-PRO University training is delivered through flexible, blended learning models, including on-demand eLearning, on-site classroom instruction, virtual sessions and hands-on labs. The BICSI-accredited courseware is “designed and structured to drive individuals’ professional development, enhance business operations and improve knowledge of current system technologies within a flexible training platform that encourages participation.”

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Digital Monitoring Products (DMP) today announces that its JamAlert cellular jamming detection technology has achieved UL 2610 Certification.

UL 2610 is considered the standard for commercial premises security alarm units and systems. It “defines requirements for how commercial intrusion and holdup alarm systems must be designed, built, tested and perform,” according to the DMP announcement.

This certification “marks a significant milestone for JamAlert, providing independent validation of its performance and reliability while expanding its applicability in regulated and compliance-driven environments,” the announcement says.

“Cellular jamming remains a growing concern in the security industry but verifying the effectiveness of detection solutions in the field has historically been a challenge,” according to the DMP announcement. “Because the use of cellular jamming devices is restricted, real-world testing is not practical for dealers or end users. UL certification addresses that gap.”

How Did DMP’s JamAlert Earn UL Certification?

JamAlert has been evaluated under controlled conditions to meet established UL standards, ensuring it performs as intended when it matters most. This independent verification “gives security professionals and their customers confidence in deploying jamming detection without the need for field testing,” the DMP announcement says.

“Achieving UL certification for JamAlert is an important step forward for both our dealers and their customers,” says Brad Tucker, vice president of product management and support, in the company announcement. “It provides the third-party validation the industry has been looking for, while also enabling deployment in applications where UL Listed components are required.”

With UL certification, JamAlert is “now well-positioned for use in a broader range of commercial and enterprise applications, including those with strict compliance, insurance or AHJ requirements,” according to the DMP announcement. “Dealers can more easily specify JamAlert in projects that require UL Listed equipment, helping streamline approvals and expand business opportunities.”

JamAlert integrates with DMP or other alarm systems to detect and alert on potential cellular jamming activity, helping ensure uninterrupted alarm communication.
