MELVILLE, N.Y. – ADI recently announced the expansion of ADI Cloud Storage Powered by Wasabi to the United Kingdom and Ireland as part of the next phase of the ongoing European expansion.

“As video systems across security, commercial AV and enterprise environments generate increasing volumes of data, integrators are seeking flexible storage solutions that can scale without requiring costly infrastructure upgrades,” according to the ADI announcement.

The ADI Cloud Storage Powered by Wasabi solution addresses this challenge by enabling integrators to extend existing video management system (VMS) deployments into the U.K. and Ireland as part of the next phase of the company’s ongoing expansion efforts.

“With this expansion, our integrators can deliver an easy-to-deploy cloud storage solution that integrates seamlessly with their video management systems, while unlocking new opportunities for recurring revenue,” says Chris Briggs, senior product manager at ADI, in the announcement.

“As video deployments grow in scale and complexity, customers need storage solutions that are secure, scalable, and simple to add to existing environments,” he says.

What Does ADI Cloud Storage Powered by Wasabi Do?

The ADI Cloud Storage Powered by Wasabi solution uses a hybrid model that combines local storage for immediate video access with cloud-based capacity for “secure, cost-effective expansion and disaster recovery,” according to the ADI announcement.

“Extending on-premise camera and server deployments into the cloud allows integrators to help customers protect critical video data while reducing the need for additional on-site infrastructure,” the announcement says.

ADI Cloud Storage Powered by Wasabi “integrates with leading VMS platforms, enabling seamless replication of video data to the cloud while allowing footage to be stored and retrieved through the system’s native VMS interface.” This approach “simplifies deployment and ongoing management while providing end users with greater flexibility in how video data is accessed and retained.”

The solution is “particularly suited to commercial and enterprise environments where extended retention periods, operational resilience, and offsite data protection are priorities,” according to the ADI announcement. Typical applications include retail environments, logistics facilities, corporate campuses, and other large commercial environments where reliable access to archived video data is essential.

Available through one-, two-, and three-year subscription options, the offering “aligns with the way integrators already purchase and sell software solutions while creating opportunities for recurring revenue on both new and existing video systems,” according to the ADI announcement.

ADI selected Wasabi as a partner “based on the company’s strong position in the cloud storage market and broad compatibility across leading video and surveillance platforms,” according to the association announcement. The service also “offers predictable pricing with no hidden fees, including egress charges or API request fees, helping integrators deploy and scale solutions with confidence.”

As part of the company’s expanding partnership with Wasabi, further European regions including launches in the Netherlands, Belgium, Nordic and more markets, are planned for later in 2026.

SAN RAMON, Calif. — The schedule for the Z-Wave Alliance’s Spring Summit is out, with the event set to take place May 27-29 in Vienna Austria. The Z-Wave Spring Summit brings together leaders from across the entire Z-Wave ecosystem for three days of collaboration, discussion, planning, testing, networking and education regarding the technology.

This year, the Z-Wave Alliance, the standards development organization dedicated to advancing the smart home and Z-Wave technology, say the event will include a dedicated UnPlug Fest, intimate fireside chat sessions, marketing and technical working tracks and interactive panels for attendees.

What is Z-Wave UnPlug Fest?

Every year, UnPlug Fest is hosted alongside the Z-Wave Spring Summit, giving attendees an opportunity to get hands-on with Z-Wave products. As described by the Alliance, UnPlug Fest acts as an “interoperability testing ground” designed to focus on real-world deployment scenarios and large-scale network performance.

While interoperability testing remains exclusive to members, select demonstrations during the UnPlug Fest portion of the Spring Summit will be open to installers and non-members.

For 2026, the event is set to center on the simultaneous operation of Z-Wave mesh and Z-Wave Long Range (ZWLR) networks within a live environment. Participants will test new and recently certified devices in dynamic conditions, giving them the opportunity to stress-test Z-Wave’s reliability at scale.

The goal for this year’s focus, according to the Alliance, is to give attendees an opportunity to work with diverse device types and network topologies to get a better understanding of how they might coexist in a cohesive system.

Live Demos Planned

Apart from hands-on exploration, UnPlug Fest 2026 will also feature live demonstrations meant to highlight various Z-Wave capabilities, including:

Simultaneous mesh and ZWLR operation on a single network

Multiple networks operating in parallel in dense environments

SmartStart commissioning for rapid, QR-based device onboarding

Dynamic routing and Explorer Frames for automatic optimization

Multicast control for synchronized low-latency device response

2026 Z-Wave Spring Summit Agenda

The 2026 Z-Wave Spring Summit will open after UnPlug Fest the following day to a full day of joint sessions. According to the Alliance, the sessions this year will explore several key industry trends impacting the Z-Wave ecosystem, in addition to reviewing how the ecosystem has grown over the years.

This portion of the event is open to Z-Wave Alliance members, as well as installers, developers, and non-members interested in working with Z-Wave.

Chairman Avi Rosenthal will kick off the sessions with an address to attendees outlining the Alliance’s direction and key opportunities ahead. Rosenthal’s introduction will then be followed by a member-driven fireside chat discussing the evolution of Z-Wave and the role of collaboration in driving the ecosystem forward.

The day one agenda will also include sessions that address:

The Cyber Resilience Act (CRA)

Emerging innovations such as the Z-Wave Wake on Event End Node (WOEEN) role type,

The intersection between AI and the future of the intelligent home,

And other key market trends and insights.

Member Working Sessions

The Summit will conclude with a full day of member-exclusive working sessions across technical and marketing tracks, focused on advancing the Z-Wave ecosystem from both a product and market perspective. Key areas of focus include:

User Credential Command Class v3 (UCCCv3), Aliro, and device evolution

Z-Wave Certification and compliance

Technical roadmap preview with new opportunity discussion

Z-Wave Long Range (ZWLR) and market growth

Marketing strategy and go-to-market execution

The full agenda, including sessions start times, titles, and proposed speakers is available on the Z-Wave Alliance website.

Z-Wave Long Range Growth

Initially announced by in 2020, the first Z-Wave Long Range device hit the market in the form of Universal Electronics’ Ecolink 700 Series Garage Door Controller. At the time, the release underscored both the potential and early limitations of adoption.

Since then, however, adoption of the technology has only grown, with CES 2026 serving as a major milestone for ZWLR, as there are now 125 devices certified under the standard. The technology has only continued to improve during that time as well, with ZWLR now being able to support more node counts per network as well as enhanced battery life on sensors within the network.

Z-Wave Spring Summit Registration Details

Registration for the Spring Summit and UnPlug Fest will be $599.

Installers, integrators and non-member companies interested in developing with Z-Wave can register for $99, which includes access to select UnPlug Fest demonstrations showcasing Z-Wave in action on May 27 and the joint sessions on May 28.

Readers are instructed to reference the posted agenda on the Z-Wave website to see which sessions are available to non-member attendees.

The Z-Wave Spring Summit is open to Alliance members, installers and integrators across the Z-Wave ecosystem. Alliance members get exclusive access to interoperability testing during UnPlug fest, as well as exclusive member programming on the third day, however there is plenty of programming for non-members looking to attend.

Axis Communications has opened an Experience Center in Detroit.

The company now has 20 Axis Experience Centers in the U.S. and almost 40 around the world.

The Detroit AEC features several purpose-built spaces designed to support learning, collaboration, and solution development.

DETROIT – Axis Communications today announced the opening of its 20th Axis Experience Center (AEC) in the Americas, underscoring “the company’s continued expansion and deepening investment in one of the United States’ most important centers of industrial and technological innovation.”

The new Motor City facility “provides customers and partners with a hands-on environment to explore the latest intelligent IP solutions for security, operations and business intelligence,” according to the company announcement.

Since opening its first Americas AEC in 2012, Axis “has steadily expanded its global network as part of a long-term strategy to be closer to customers and partners, making this 20th location a significant milestone in its growth and commitment to local engagement,” the announcement says.

“Our AECs are designed to provide local communities with the opportunity for hands-on experience with some of today’s most innovative and emerging technologies,” says Paul Winsker, business area director – Mid-Atlantic at Axis Communications, in the company announcement.

“With its blend of industrial heritage and modern resurgence, Detroit is the perfect location for our 20th AEC. Our goal isn’t just to meet the business and educational needs of our local customers and partners, but to also provide a welcoming space where ideas can be tested, partnerships strengthened and solutions that solve real-world challenges developed together,” he says.

What’s in Axis Communications’ Detroit Experience Center?

Located in Detroit’s One Campus Martius building, the 7,200-square-foot AEC offers more than technology demonstrations. The facility is directly across from Campus Martius Park, with a balcony providing views of the Detroit River and Windsor, Canada, reinforcing the center’s connection to the city.

The building’s atrium features the tallest indoor waterfall in the U.S. at 114 feet. Designed for collaboration, the AEC is “focused on solving complex challenges and helping organizations build smarter, safer environments,” according to the Axis Communications announcement.

Visitors can explore how Axis solutions—including network video, analytics, audio, access control and other IoT-enabled devices—work together to “enhance safety, improve efficiency, and deliver meaningful business insights,” the announcement says.

The Detroit AEC features several purpose-built spaces designed to support learning, collaboration, and solution development, including:

A state-of-the-art security command center, demonstrating how modern security operations leverage intelligent video, analytics, and connected devices to provide situational awareness and real-time decision-making.

An Axis Communications Academy training room, for certification courses, partner training sessions, and educational events that help integrators and end users stay ahead in the rapidly evolving technology landscape.

An engineering and testing lab, where partners can evaluate integrations, validate system functionality, and experiment with new solutions before deployment, enabling more confident, tailored system design.

“This opening represents more than just another AEC for Axis,” says Fredrik Nilsson, vice president of Americas at Axis Communications, in the company announcement. “It represents how far we have come as an organization in the Americas.

“Fourteen years and 20 AECs later, we continue to find new ways to engage customers and partners while advancing innovation through new technologies and solutions. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished and even more excited about what lies ahead,” he says.

Axis Experience Centers now operate in nearly 40 cities across the globe, including Boston, Mexico City, New York City, Houston, Madrid, Lund and more.

The Detroit AEC is located at 1000 Woodward Ave., Suite 1530, Detroit, MI 48226.

CONCORD, Calif. — D-Tools System Integrator (SI) v24 software is out, and with it, the company is introducing some new features aimed at enhancing real-time collaboration on the software. Additional updates being added in SI v24 also look to improve financial, operational and administrative control.

Details of SI v24 were originally previewed at ISC West 2026, with today’s announcement expanding upon the set of features being introduced in the update.

What’s Being Added to D-Tools SI v24?

The centerpiece of SI v24 is its new multi-user project editing feature, which allows team members across sales, design, engineering and installation to work on the same project simultaneously, removing the wait time on sequential handoffs.

Changes are saved automatically to reduce version conflicts and help accelerate project delivery. Alongside this feature, SI v24 also includes a Gantt chart export to Microsoft Project, enabling integration teams to share detailed timelines with architects, contractors and other stakeholders outside of their core team.

G Paul Hess (who was recently appointed as CEO of D-Tools), said, “When project teams collaborate without bottlenecks, financials stay accurate across every job, and workflows match how the business actually runs, integrators can take on more work, protect their margins, and grow with confidence.”

SI v24 also introduces several features to improve financial, operational and administrative control:

Financial precision: Custom timesheet fields and tax configuration by labor type improve cost accuracy.

Catalog consistency: System types can now be assigned at the Catalog level, reducing setup time.

Change order governance: New permission levels provide clearer oversight of scope changes.

Enterprise scalability: Optional deployment on Azure Load Balancer supports larger firms.

Mobile workforce support: The Mobile Install app now handles file transfers up to 100MB.

Administrative control: Update notifications can be limited to SI Admins for better change management.

When is D-Tools SI v24 Available?

D-Tools SI v24 is available now for all SI software users.

ST. LOUIS – Fire, life safety and security industry-focused buy-and-build platform RapidFire Safety & Security has acquired Orange, Calif.-based Stratex Integrated Solutions, expanding RapidFire’s greater Los Angeles footprint and reinforcing its commitment to delivering a high-quality customer experience across the region.

Founded in 2005, Stratex is a provider of access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarm and fire life safety systems for commercial facilities across the greater Los Angeles area. The team delivers projects ranging from straightforward installations to fully integrated systems for new construction and modernization.

With the acquisition, RapidFire “expands its ability to serve customers in a high-growth market with enhanced fire protection and electronic security capabilities,” according to the joint announcement. Stratex will continue supporting customers locally, backed by RapidFire’s additional resources and regional scale.

The acquisition “supports RapidFire’s strategy of partnering with leading regional operators to build scaled capabilities in attractive, high-growth markets,” the announcement says.

Why Did RapidFire Safety & Security Acquire Stratex?

“Bringing the Stratex team into our already-strong greater Los Angeles organization adds capacity and broadens the services and solutions we can deliver to customers,” says Bob Ricucci, chief revenue officer of RapidFire Safety & Security, in the joint announcement. “Their expertise strengthens our ability to deliver fire, life safety and security solutions across the market.”

“Stratex has earned deep trust across the greater Los Angeles market and we’re proud to welcome their team to RapidFire,” says Mike McLeod, CEO and founder of RapidFire, in the joint announcement. “This partnership strengthens our local presence and allows us to deliver faster response, broader expertise and a single team to support our customers from installation through ongoing service.”

“Joining RapidFire is an exciting step forward for our customers and our business,” says Raoul and Gail Standt, founders and owners of Stratex, in the joint announcement. “The new ownership brings expanded resources and broader expertise, while preserving the same commitment to quality and customer service that has always defined us.

“Our customers can count on the same trusted team they know, now backed by even greater support. We are confident this is the right move for everyone we serve. One of our main concerns was making sure this would be a positive and seamless experience for our customers and our employees,” they say.

Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney served as legal counsel for the transaction.

QUINCY, Mass. – The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) board of directors unanimously voted to appoint Ross Ashley, an executive with more than 30 years’ experience in corporate leadership, public safety, intelligence and emergency management, as the next president and CEO.

Ashley will start in his new position July 1 and will work alongside Jim Pauley, who has served as NFPA president and CEO since 2014 and will retire at the end of July.

“For 130 years NFPA standards, research, public education and training have been the foundation of fire, life and electrical safety,” says David R. Paulison, chairman of the NFPA board, in the association announcement. “Ross has the determination and skills to continue the growth of NFPA to further advance its critical mission.”

What Was Ross Ashley Doing Before Joining NFPA?

Ashley was most recently senior director, emergency management, at KPMG LLP, where he oversaw programs to support state and local emergency management clients with all aspects of preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation.

Throughout his career he has led for profit, non-profit and government entities, including serving as assistant administrator for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), managing more than $10 billion annually in financial assistance programs for preparedness and disaster relief.

He is “a recognized leader in digital innovation, collaborative partnerships, organizational growth and public policy and regulatory affairs,” according to the NFPA announcement.

Ashley retired after 20 years of combined enlisted and officer service in the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves. He was the first Air National Guard member to attend the Joint Military Intelligence College in residence and to receive a master’s degree in Strategic Intelligence.

“I am impressed with the trajectory of NFPA to reach new heights in order to meet the fire and life safety challenges of our times,” says Ashley in the association announcement. “The quest to better protect people and property from fire and other hazards should never be stagnant. I’m looking forward to building on the success that Jim and the team have built.”

Jim Pauley’s Reaction

Pauley has more than 35 years of affiliation with NFPA as a member, technical committee member, standards council chair and president. Under Pauley’s leadership, NFPA “has been pursuing aggressive growth to expand its impact on fire safety,” according to the association announcement. It is “grounded in four strategic pillars: to be more digital, more global, more connected and more diversified.”

“I’m proud of our many advancements over the last 12 years,” says Pauley in the NFPA announcement. “Today’s world requires not only change but faster change. Our information and knowledge today reaches more people, in more places, in more ways, which translates to greater safety against new and persistent threats.

“Ross Ashley is an excellent choice to continue the momentum at NFPA and I am sure he will find it as fulfilling as I have,” he says.

SILVER SPRING, Md.—The Security Industry Association (SIA) has named Charles McGilvary Johnson as co-chairman of SIA StartUps in Security, a community and accelerator program for security innovators, according to an association announcement.

The SIA StartUps in Security initiative, guided by SIA’s Executive Advisory Board, is “designed to identify, support and partner with innovative startups, scale-ups and industry leaders shaping the future of security technology,” the announcement says.

Johnson is founder and CEO of NGA Security Advisors with 30 years of experience in the electronic security industry. As a physical security specialist, he “has a strong successful track record in developing, nurturing and managing relationships with architects, consultants, attorneys and especially end-user clients.”

He is experienced in security technology, including physical access control, video surveillance, artificial intelligence, biometrics, Internet of Things, license plate recognition, parking and vehicle gate entrance, interior entrance and exterior barrier protection.

What is Johnson’s Security Industry Experience?

Johnson is a member of SIA, ASIS International, the International Association of Professional Security Consultants and US|CPTED.

He has worked on projects involving clients from corporate/Fortune 500, higher education, K–12, health care, critical infrastructure, multifamily, transportation, gaming and casinos, entertainment venues and federal, state and local government and municipalities, including law enforcement and public safety.

Johnson has been a member of the SIA StartUps in Security community from its inception, previously chairing the community’s Research Committee, where he led efforts to launch the Investor Series, a program that interviews investors and showcases their insights into startups.

He has been a part of the SIA StartUps in Security Strategy Review initiative at ISC East, a program that allows technology startup companies to get honest, private direct feedback on their early business strategy.

“I am very humbled and honored by the opportunity to expand my involvement and work with SIA, my co-chair Lee Odess and the rest of our community to provide the resources and support needed by this very important segment of our industry,” says Johnson in the SIA announcement.

“I am very passionate about the StartUps in Security community and what we have been able to accomplish in the last 12 months,” says Johnson. “The focus SIA has shown through the Women in Security Forum, Veterans in Security, RISE and now StartUps in Security communities is a testament to the exceptional leadership within SIA.

“As a small business owner myself I am very familiar with the unique challenges, obstacles and daily grind required to keep the ball moving forward. I am hopeful that our industry will continue to see the value in these startup organizations because in my opinion the most substantive work being done from technology, problem-solving and ideas are coming from these companies,” he says.

What is SIA StartUps in Security?

StartUps in Security is designed for companies classified as startups or scale-ups who are seeking to propel their growth and establish industry relationships.

Eligible startups include companies in their early operational stages and focused on product/service development, innovation-oriented businesses introducing novel solutions, organizations targeting large or emerging markets with significant growth potential, companies that typically rely on external funding for growth and businesses managing significant market and financial uncertainties.

The community’s activities and accomplishments include hosting SIA Startups Experience events at ISC West and East, launching the StartUps in Security Mastermind peer-to-peer mentoring community and hosting Investor Series interviews with leading capital firms and individual investors.

“SIA is proud to welcome Charles M. Johnson as the new co-chair of the StartUps in Security community. Charles has wide-ranging expertise across both the practical and technical aspects of the security industry, and as a startup founder himself, he has a unique understanding of the experiences startups of all types are going through,” says SIA CEO Don Erickson in the association announcement.

“His knowledge will be immensely beneficial to this community as he partners with co-chair Lee Odess to build on its success going forward,” he says. “We thank outgoing co-chair Robert Lydic for his leadership in this community and look forward to collaborating with Charles to facilitate connections among security’s innovators who are looking to change the status quo and the industry.”

“At the same time, the U.K. government and business community are investing heavily in infrastructure and urbanization, creating strong demand for AI-driven solutions to solve complex security and business challenges,” he says.

What Will Brivo Be Showing at The Security Event?

Tristin Vaccaro, who has been instrumental in expanding Mission 500’s impact as community engagement coordinator, has been elevated to executive director of the organization.
Vaccaro joined Mission 500 as community engagement coordinator in May 2024, bringing her expertise in social media management, public relations and event organization. As owner of Vaccaro Copywriting & Marketing Solutions, she had already established herself as a trusted voice in the physical security industry.

During her time at Mission 500, she “has been instrumental in growing the organization’s community presence and financial impact,” according to the Mission 500 announcement. As executive director, she “will take on expanded responsibility for the organization’s communications, operations and outreach.”

Why is Tristin Vaccaro New Mission 500 Executive Director?

“Tristin’s impact on Mission 500 and the security industry has been nothing short of remarkable,” says Jason Lutz, chairman of Mission 500. “She has poured her heart into this organization and has made a measurable impact on how we connect with our communities and carry out our mission.”

“I can’t wait to build on that legacy and bring even more of our industry along for the journey,” she says.

Mission 500 also recently welcomed Phil Leverette to its board of directors. A U.S. Army veteran of Desert Storm, Leverette has spent more than 30 years building and leading organizations in the security industry. He currently serves as CEO and owner of Extreme Custom Technology, Inc. (ECT) Fire & Security, a provider of commercial fire alarms, suppression systems and technical integration services.

He is also the founder of Pure Aqua Vitae, a water and air filtration company, and serves on the board of access control manufacturer, HavenLock.

More About Mission 500 Board Member Phil Leverette

Leverette has been a visible and committed presence in the Mission 500 community for years, including his participation in the 2025 Mission 500 Service Trip. Most recently, he was honored with the Mission 500 Chairman’s Award at ISC West 2026 in recognition of “his steadfast dedication to the organization’s charitable initiatives.”

“Phil embodies the spirit of what Mission 500 is all about,” says Lutz in the Mission 500 announcement. “He sees a need and doesn’t hesitate to act. His experience as an entrepreneur, veteran and community servant will bring tremendous value to our board and we are grateful to have him officially join us.”

DENVER — The best new security products bathed in the spotlight as Security Sales & Integration today announced the 2026 winners of the Most Valuable Products (MVP) Awards during the awards luncheon at PSA TEC 2026.

The MVPs — short for Most Valuable Product — are in their 12th year and are universally respected in our industry. What sets the SSI MVP Awards apart is their goal. The MVPs recognize products that affect dealers and integrators’ businesses in meaningful and positive ways.

“The Most Valuable Product (MVP) Awards is Security Sales & Integration’s signature awards program, highlighting outstanding product design, genuinely differentiated feature sets and remarkable technical innovation,” says Dan Ferrisi, group director of content + editorial, industrial + tech, Emerald.

“The competition this year was fierce, which attests to the truly disruptive innovation that electronic security suppliers are bringing to market,” he says. “But the 14 winners we’re celebrating today stood apart not only for their unique technical differentiators but also for their clear, compelling integrator benefits. Our entire team tips our hat to these change-makers in the market.”

Who Are the 2026 MVP Award Winners?

Here’s the full list of the 2026 MVP Awards winners. All text comes directly from the company’s MVP Awards submission. Congratulations to all of this year’s honorees!:

AI-Infused Solutions

IQSIGHT

IVA Pro Context

Complete Security “has provided security services to thousands of commercial and residential clients in the Buffalo community since 1991,” the announcement says. The acquisition “enhances Doyle’s already strong customer base in the Buffalo area.”

Mike Iannello, owner of Complete Security since 1991, will bring his industry experience and security expertise to the Doyle Security team as a sales consultant at the Buffalo branch, according to the joint announcement.

Why Did Doyle Security Acquire Complete Security?

“Doyle has been a monitoring partner for Complete Security for many years, which gives us a great deal of familiarity with Complete Security’s customers and allows for a seamless transition as we welcome them to the Doyle Security family,” says Doyle Security president and chief executive officer Jack Doyle in the joint announcement.

Iannello is excited about the merger.

“Complete and Doyle share similar values and business philosophies and I am confident that Complete customers will be thrilled with the level of professionalism and customer service that Doyle provides,” he says in the joint announcement.
