Major News and Economic Reports Release Timing

The list below shows the times when the most important economic data are released for each of the countries and some of the important timing to take note.

Take note of the Daylight Saving Time (DST) which starts from Mar and end in late Oct / early Nov for EUR/GBP/CHF and USD/CAD. It requires timing to be adjusted forward by 1 hour for countries which observed DST during the period.

After much research and coding on MQL programming, I've finally managed to come out with my own indicators which nicely representing the trends and short term movement for fast trigger. I named them as SGI MasterTrade Indicators (The 2 rows of color bars on the above chart).

SGI MasterTrade Indicators include a Trend Indicator (lower color bars) and a Trigger Indicator (upper color bars).

With SGI MasterTrade Trend Indicator, it makes identifying of trends (blue and red) much easier. Not just that, it also has the capability to serve as a warning on the changing of trend (green and yellow).

As for SGI MasterTrade Trigger Indicator, it indicates the short term movement of the price which can be serve as an indicator for quick entry and exit.

Together with the current High Powered Setups, both have formed into a even more powerful system for Forex Trading, which I will name it as SGI MasterTrade Forex Trading System.

I've participated in the recent competition organised by Alpari UK, above is the summary of my results for this one month competition. The leverage for this competition is 10 : 1 and the maximum lot size per trade that I'm using is 0.5 to 2 standard lots.

Though I didn't manage to come in tops but making USD20k (1304pips) within a month with a success rate of 97.74% (130 out of 133 trades) is still quite an achievement. Most of my trades are base on intraday trading.

Turning $200 into $2000+ in 3 months! It may seems impossible to most but it is possible. You just need the right trading skills and discipline.

Above is the summary of one of my live trading accounts which shows the possibility of building a small account into a bigger account in trading. And most importantly with reasonably low drawdown and consistency (you can see from the equity graph).

This is another EA with more than 90% win rate. I started running this EA on a USD10k account since 15 April 2010 . This EA runs on GBPUSD.

Above is the partial statement ( I'm unable to show it all because it is too long for me to do a print screen) and the full summary of this trading account. In slightly less than 3 months, it has already made more than 100% profit! The current account balance is USD20,852 with a net profit of USD10,852.

I am working in creating more EAs with reasonable or great monthly return, good consistency and low drawdown.

Another Great Live Trading Session with Intake 0810

We have another great session with students from Intake 0810, all students have profited in the live trading sessions by following the setups being taught in the class and they also saw how the AEP works! Profiting without really monitoring their trades, exits are fully automated.

Forex Automated Trading - EA on the run

The above are the statement and report of one of my latest EA, this is a scalping EA or should say it as an EA with smaller take profit but much larger stop loss. The backtesting report shows that this EA is having a >95% winning rate (will not show it here as it has almost caused my jaw to drop, too good to be true : P. But of course, the backtesting results may not represent the forward testing results).

I've loaded the EA for forward testing since late 25 Mar 2010, till date, it has made 28 trades and all are winning trades (with slightly more than 50% hitting the target price). This results actually goes in line with the backtesting results.....wow! 100% win rate?? No, it is impossible for a EA to have a 100% win rate, if there is, either everyone will snatch it or nobody will sell it. As I mentioned earlier on, it is >95% (base on backtesting).

With a 50% profit in just slightly short of one month, this EA definitely look great. But for live run, I will not use 1 standard lot per 10k but a smaller lot size, I prefer to manage my risk first before looking at the possible profit.

I'm still keeping my finger crossed for this EA, running for just coming to one month really can't proof anything. My next revision is on the way, will be doing more testing after that while I'll continue to let this EA runs.

I'll post the statement of this account again when it hit 100% profit. How long does it take? I really don't know. If you don't see me posting statement of this account again, you know what is going on...haha. Finger crossing even harder now. : P

Forex Automated Trading

Automated Trading

Some believe in fully automated trading but some don't. For me, currently i still prefer a semi automated trading, it is good when I decided to hold a trade and let the program "monitor" the trade for me. (can be done only on MT4 platform).

Of course, I'm one of those who believed automated trading does work (But not those selling in the market). To me, as long as you have a good strategy and it is programmable, then logically speaking, it should works. Am still trying hard.....

I've been trying to come out with a program that is able to fit into my strategy (not fitting strategy to the program). I've been working on it since one year ago....how's the progress so far? I would say each revised version kept improving, but still have not reach the standard of what I wanted yet. Other than strategies, I'm also trying to add in some money management to further enhance the performance of the EA.

How is the result so far?
So far, backtesting has been showing good and very good results. As for forward testing, some of them are not as consistent but some of them are still doing good so far. I will let it run for a longer time to ensure these EAs are really performing before trading live using them (but with care).

I'm currently working on some trending and scalping EAs. Some of the results are quite pleasing, but I need longer time to ensure it is working consistently. Still keeping my fingers crossed.

Summary
I've been doing back testing and exploring on EA for slightly more than one year, I've found out that other then the strategy, there are few areas will affect or determine the accuracy of the results:

1. Broker's Currency Spreads - Wider spread will affect results, esp. the scalpers EA.

2. Accuracy of historical datas - Inaccurate datas will distort the actual results.

3. Indicators - May not advisable to purely depend on indicators for entry as it may be too lagging and the readings may differ between each broker.

4. Time of Brokers - Esp. on H4 and daily chart, the bar opening time differ between each broker.

5. Length of test - The longer the length of test, the more stable it will be in a long run.

There are more factors that will affect the results and these are the few main areas that I gather so far.

An awesome profit of USD656 (59pips) was made within 2 hours from 2 trades during the live trading session.

High Success Rate and High Rewards Risk Ratio

Very High Success Rate with Moderate Reward Risk Ratio

A Good Trading Strategy need to have at least 50% Success Rate with a 1:1 Rewards Risk or High Success Rate with Moderate Reward Risk Ratio or Moderate Success Rate with High Rewards Risk Ratio. Having such Trading Strategy, a fixed position sizing is good enough.

Above examples shown the results of Good Trading Strategy with fixed position sizing in a long run.

After going through the recent recession, many felt that working for people is no longer secure and many are talking about trading for a living, be it in stock trading or forex trading.

Many had failed but there are some who succeeded.

What are the Factors that separate those who succeeded and those who failed?

- Come out with a realistic trading plan. i.e. setting yearly, monthly, weekly or daily target.

2. Trading Psychology
- Able to understand how markets work and how to position yourself in the market.

3. Good Money Management
- Know how to manage your capital which able to last you in a long run.

4. Good Trading Strategy
- Know when to enter and exit with good success rate and risk rewards ratio.

5. Traits of the trader
- Hard working (willing to put in effort to learn and re-learn)
- Discipline (Able to follow as per plan)
- Independence (Able to depend on ownself for decision making)
- Confidence (Confidence in what you are doing - after went through the trial stage)
- Patience (Willing to wait for the good opportunity for entry and exit)

and most importantly - need to have the Passion for Trading.

Live Trading with Intake 0609 - Profit USD820 in 3 hours

Yesterday is the live trading session with Intake 0609. During the live trading, we managed to capture a good profit of USD820 (81pips) in around 3 hours by using one of the setups being taught in the course. Another good thing is, the trade was automatically closed by the AEP system! (AEP System is a Auto-Exit Program which follow the exit criteria being taught in the class)

The setups being taught in the course are applicable to all currency pairs and all timeframe, they can be used for stock trading as well. Quite a number of our students are doing very well in stock trading by using the setups being taught in the course as well.

Money Management and Trading Strategy

In trading, different traders have their own different trading style, but as long as it works for them, then that are good strategies.

Some emphasize more on Money Management while some on Trading Strategy but both need to be part of the trading.

Those who emphasize more on Money Management usually have a ok strategy but with the Strong Money Management, a 40% success rate with 1:1 risk reward ratio can help them to make profit from the market in long run.

Those who have Good Strategy with more than 50% success rate and at least a 1:1 risk rewards ratio, or at least 50% success rate with more than 1:1 risk rewards ratio, they just need to have a constant fixed position size will help them to make profit from the market in long run as well.

How about a Good Strategy combined with a Strong Money Management?

That could be an ideal case. But to me, if you have a good trading strategy, you are always in an upper hand. It is easier to master Money Management than a Strategy.

Those who trade mainly base on Money Management usually need a bigger capital. Here is one "Sure Win" trading if you have a strategy with 1:1 risk rewards ratio and low success rate, but a large capital. It's all about Statistics, just like how casinos or brokers make their money.

Example: base on 20pips stop loss and take profit (This is base on making profit with just one winning trade, you can also come out with formula which enable you to make profit with two continuous winning trades, this will bring down the incremental of the lot size)

Official Launching of SGI AEP System

After a long waiting, the AEP system is finally out. We just have a pre-launching last night together with the live trading session of Intake 0509.

We will be Officially Launching it on 18th Oct 09, as this is a day of remembrance of something significant that happened to my family last year. Times really fly.

AEP stands for Automated Exit Program or Auto-Exit Program. This program will help to exit trades automatically with the pre-programmed criteria which is the exit strategy that is being taught in the SGI High Powered Trading Course. It is applicable to all time frame and all currency pairs.

Currently I'm working on something regarding Forex trading, I've just break the news to most existing students as they will be benefiting from it.

It is something that I've tried to work for months and the trial product has just completed early this week.
