On February middle Google has announced new search engine result (SERP), for queries where the searcher is looking to purchase a product or service.

New search engine result page would come to show a maximum of 4 ads of commercial ads above the natural results and ads in right-rail positions 5 through 7 would be moved below natural results. Online giant Google released a report - 'Zeitgeist' - on what 81 million Indian netizens have been searching for on the web.

The company analyses billions of search queries to come up with the annual report.

Indian Railways continues to top the chart.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) emerged as the most searched for year-on-year, followed by low-cost smartphone maker Micromax Mobiles and YouTube movies.

Facebook was the second most popular site, after songs, confirming the latest trend of hooking on to social networking.

In 2009, Facebook was the ninth most popular searched item on the web.

Indian netizens were not far behind the global trend with the FIFA World Cup that grabbed the real world attention.

Among the most popular on the web, songs, Facebook and Google remained on the top.

The most searched celebrity list continued to be from the Bollywood.

Indians searched for British actress Aruna Shields and new sensation, Sonakshi Sinha (seen here).

The telecom sector ruled the list of brand searches.

With a mobile subscription base of over 700 million, Nokia and Samsung were the most searched on Google, followed by Airtel, Micromax and Dell.

Search Engine Optimization is not a single man’s job, unless you are only concerned with SEO analysis. It is a common saying that “With Execution the best Plan is a Total Failure” and in order to execute you need to build a team, a task force dedicated and committed enough to bring results.

A typical SEO team can have a following essential job roles, although these may be confined in just 2 or 3 persons but these are some of the basic areas of focus that need to be taken care of during an SEO project.

The Hierarchy of a SEO team:

Although the above figure is self explanatory enough, I will explain each in a bit more detail.

Production and distribution of link worthy content and seeking opportunities of ethical link building is a must for any SEO team. Whether you have in house professionals for this purpose or you outsource it to freelancers, but you must devote time to check all the process that is going on. Otherwise you may risk your efforts being spoiled by “Spammy Freelancer SEOs”. The best practice for small SEO firms can be that they can outsource large and major part of their work but should have at least one in-house professional to check the progress of freelancers.

SEO is much more than building links, and for on-page factors, it is a bit more technical than writing an optimized content and titles. You need to have knowledge about .htacess file, url rewriting, Robots.txt, http headers etc. to name a few. It does not matter that whether you have the technical knowledge or a team member of yours, but a “tech-guy” is an integral part of SEO team.
