I think you don’t need me to list things like newborn clothes, cotton buds, etc.

However, there are a handful of items that didn't just sit in the nursery—they saved my sanity. If you're looking to cut through the clutter, here are the five essentials I truly couldn't live without.

1. The Perfect Swaddle: Embe & Sleep Sacks

Sleep is the ultimate currency for a new mom. While the traditional muslin squares are cute, they often result in a "Houdini" situation at 2:00 AM.

* Embe: This was a game-changer for me. It offers a unique legs-in or legs-out option, which is perfect if your baby runs hot or if you need to do a quick diaper change without fully unravelling them. It has zipper function that is easy to put on and remove. I hunted this one as it’s not availabel in the Philippines but truly one of the best I’ve tried.

Halo Sleep Sack: Once they start rolling, transition to a sturdy sleep sack. It provides that cozy weight and security without the safety risks of loose blankets. This one lasts longer than other swaddle in terms of months of usage.

Ever wonder why a swaddle works like a "mute button"? It’s simple biology.

The Science: Inside the womb, babies are snug and secure. Outside, the wide-open space is a shock. A swaddle mimics that tight, warm pressure, lowering their heart rate and stopping the Moro Reflex (those middle-of-the-night arm twitches that wake them up).

2. Hands-Free Freedom: Baby K’tan & i-Angel

You’ll quickly learn that "velcro babies" are a real thing. You need to eat, but they need to be held.

i-Angel: As they get a bit heavier, you’ll want the structural support of a hip seat carrier like the i-Angel. It saves your back and shoulders by distributing the weight to your hips—perfect for long walks or fussy afternoons.

3. The "No-Fuss" Bottle: Pigeon

If you are alternating between nursing and bottle-feeding, "nipple confusion" is a valid worry. The Pigeon bottle (specifically the SofTouch line) is the most transition-friendly bottle I’ve encountered. The nipple shape and flow are designed to mimic a natural latch, making it much easier for baby to go back and forth without a protest.

If you plan to still continue pumping when you return to work and still have baby latch when you’re home, by far all the bottles, this one was the easist transition with pain on my part

Comotomo is another recommendation. It’s slightly expensice, but the large opening is easier to clean especially breastmilk runs oiler than formulas.

4. The Gold Standard Pump: Medela

I’ve tried my fair share of pumps, but Medela remains the undefeated champion in my book. When you are dealing with engorgement, you don't want a "gentle" pump that does nothing; you want something efficient that gets the job done. It’s powerful, reliable, and the suction patterns feel the most "real." It turned a painful chore into a manageable routine.

Hakaa Manual Breast Pump - this was has exceptional in terms of latched on breastfeeding when there’s a let down on the other breast, a catch milk container to not waste a drop.

5. Liquid Gold Security: Honeysuckle Milk Bags

Breastmilk is hard-earned, and the last thing you want is a leak in the freezer.

Why they're worth it: They aren’t the cheapest option on the shelf, but they are the most reliable. The Honeysuckle travels well, too!

The Verdict: They are thick, truly spill-proof, and stand the test of time (and freezer frost). When you’re storing "liquid gold," the peace of mind is worth the extra couple of dollars.

Spectra was a surprise this small but incredibly amazing dual pump has been useful to me during late night trips that I need relief from engorgement. It’s not the same as Medela’s pump I would say that it does the job at taking the milk out.

Yield depends on pumping time. And sunction modes are comfortable.

"Replacing Chef Chico" is a delectable TV series crafted with all the right ingredients. I was pleasantly surprised, especially considering I haven't seen Sam Milby, Piolo Pascual, and Alessandra Da Rossi in recent works; their portrayal of characters was beautifully executed, making it hard to associate them with previous roles.

This series embodies what TV should be—a culmination of focused storytelling on the leads, reminiscent of shows like Grey's Anatomy and CSI, yet with a fresh narrative exploring Filipino recipes and sustainable, local ingredients. "Hain" impresses not only with its personalized degustation menu but also with its mission to serve every dish with love, honoring the unique stories behind each request. And that is how each episode unfolds. In the 8-episode journey of "Hain," each story showcases different facets of Filipino cuisine, shedding light on social issues like women empowerment, gay rights and so much more.

"Replacing Chef Chico" is a pleasant surprise, deserving an individual review for each episode. The emotional impact and representation touched me, and the writer’s focus on magnifying social issues is commendable. Alessandra's performance, akin to the perfect dessert, elevates the series to one of the best I've seen recently. Piolo's restrained portrayal and impeccable editing contribute to the show's overall excellence. A well-casted series with a plethora of talents that took on their roles like they were made for it. Each of them will warm your hearts as much as the leads, and sometimes even more. And just like any sumptuous dish, Hain by the end of its last episode leaves me wanting more. Wishing that they make more of this!

Netflix and Columbia Brings Us Park Seo-Joon’s Concrete Utopia

Perhaps what I have learned about this film is that we have to keep our humanity no matter what.

When a lone building is left after a disastrous earthquake has wrecked the city, the people residents of this apartment have gate kept their complex from outsiders. Appointing a seemingly brave and intelligent man.

What does one do to survive amidts a calamity?

I don’t usually watch films like this alone but Park Seo-Joon was a good enough reason to go alone coz the hub has work and friends have plans. It’s also been a while since I’ve watched a sub-titled foreign film. But Concetre Uutopia did not disappoint.

It was well filmed. There were several intense moments when I had to cover myself with my jacket. I’m sincerely not that brave to watch series and films that are dystopian. DI ko kinakakaya.

Ultimately, I feel films like this mirror what the real society is going through. Jow, we disregard life in order to survive. And leaders are bound to be corrupt. Showing us that we will be corrupted no matter what. That is not the resources that we should gatekeep but our humanity instead.

As a big fan of Kim Bok Joon, I saw another side of Park Bo-Young’s acting, Park Seo-Joon is convincing here as well. Lee Byung-Hun held up his acting too. As the veritable tita ng bayan, Kim Sun-Young performed great as well.

What can we do to keep our morals and our humanity? How do we survive without oppression? These will be the questions that will leave you at the end of the film. So grab your popcorn and immerse yourself in the dystopian wonder of Concrete Utopia. It’s a must-watch.

Synopsis “Our apartments belong to the residents!”

After a massive earthquake, Seoul has swiftly been reduced to rubble. Everything in the city has collapsed, except for one building. Hwang Gung Apartments remains standing, as it was before that day.

When survivors from the outside hear of this, they begin to gather at Hwang Gung Apartments. However, the original residents of the building started to feel threatened. Banding together for the sake of their survival, they elect ‘Young-tak’ as their Resident Delegate. Under his leadership, they strictly banned entry by outsiders and drew up a new set of Resident Regulations.

Thanks to this, in contrast to the hellish nightmare outside, Hwang Gung Apartments stands as a safe and peaceful utopia for its residents.

But amidst the continual threats to their survival, unexpected conflicts begin to arise among them...

Nostalgic Games To Keep You Busy

I’m counting my days til it’s the holidays. My laptop has been out of commission and when you buy it from a very popular brand that require your laptop to be sent abroad, rest assured that you will be w forever to get it.

How does one live without the item of the centruty? Well, work certainly took a toll but what I appreciate is discovering a new website. Solitaire.Org, that kept sane during long queues and dragging moments when i can’t binge wathc my favorite shows.

Contrary to the popluar habits, I don’t like watchng on my phone so I end up playing games instead. And I must say I got really good at it. First of all, Solitaire.org do not require you to download stuff. I’ve been roadtesting it on my latp before and I got pretty addicted. My favorite was Hidden Objects! My gush! I can truly spend hours on this online game. It’s addicting, it’s consoling and truly during my axiety moments helped me sync back.

The game brings me back to good ‘ol days of simple games you can search online. No need to download anything, you simply have to type Solaire.org and you’re there. There’s a standalone web app is you don’t want the scroll moving.

I can’t tell how many time this site brought me to some fun memories! Playing Solitaire.Org, Klondike, Zuma Balls and and even Cookie Monster brings me back to my childhood and isn’t that the trend nowadays?

Coming from a country where signal is questionable, I was also suprised how fast this site responds. My kids can get prettyannoying when we are waiting so I got no chocie but to hand them my phone to play and believe me, this site is a lifesaver for a momma like! No matter where we are, all the games respond well.

I like a site that I can be secure and be confident as a mom, believe me, child-friendly apps can get hella expensive. the kids got some new gadgets from their Godparents this year and I can say that Solitaire.org has some cool and easy games my 8-year old can enjoy. Doesn’t this bring you back to buying those thick word search books? Now I can do that with my tiny phone easily! How convenient!

The things about these games are they are not really for me something I need to truly finish from beginning to end. They are easily there when I have to rest my brain, when I’m waiting in line, and when I get bored or just so I can feel I can control something. LG's Cooling Fan is The Best Thing For Your Home NOW

Are you ready to say goodbye to your electric fans? Are you having a hard time dealing with the dust, the noise, and the not-so-aesthetically pleasing look of this.. well vintage appliances?

I must say the humming sound doesn't please me anymore since we switched to an inverter aircon that doesn't make a noise at all. But let's face it we live in a country that requires an electric fan. Having aircon is nice but electricity bills limit us in its usage 24/7. Believe me, I've tried. I use to dread seeing my blood pressure levels but now I dread seeing my monthly electric bills.

Enter the world of pretty-looking "electric fans". Nope! These ain't the vintage looing fans they sell for so much but you otherwise get the same technology. One of the things I saw are what LG appliances call Aerotower. A sleek machine that does more than an archaic electric fan.

One thing to note... it's QUIET! And it makes tons of air. But What else makes this amazing is the advanced technology inside this gorgeous machinery! It's soooo pretty and it's so intelligent. I think we match, right? LOLS.

This P20,000 machine is the best thing for a beautiful home.

LG, the most and if not the best South Korean technology company boasts of the Puricare technology and combined it with a cooling fan. To be honest, calling this a fan is such a demeaning term. Sadly my vocabulary needs improvement because the AeroTower really does the basics by proving cooling air but more so it feels like a real breeze coming into otherwise humid surroundings.

I got a chance to try this machine myself during their event attend by the creme de la creme of the Metro and she was the host as well. Tessa Prieto-Valdez knows the quality upon the quality and we all know she lives in luxury. Suffice to say, AeroTower gor her expensive seal of approval. Who else is there? LG Ambassador Sofia Andres and the gorgeous Shamcey Supsup - a queen no less.

To make share medical data and how important clean air is to every living being, the good-looking doctor, Dr. Jansen Calalan is also present. Such an eye candy doctor I thought I was in an episode of Grey's anatomy.

But enough about him, the most handsome thing I truly laid eyes on is the technology and the sleek design of LG"s Aerotower. I felt incredibly sad knowing I will probably never have enough moolah to acquire one and sad that I didn't win when they raffled one of them. But very much happy a friend of mine did!

LG Philippines Product Manager, Jave Enriquez highlighted the features and aesthetically pleasing design of the new AeroTower. Inspired by the Red Canyon, it is a part appliance and part work of art, adding elegance to any space in your home or work. It gives three different airflows that fit to your liking. There are 10-speed settings and virtually quieter than a library for only 23 decibels. It also tells you the air quality so you can breathe cool and pure, clean air.

The AeroTower is operated in three different ways - through manual touch control on the unit, through remote control, and also using LG’s ThinQ app. Anything I can control using my phone or Alexa is God's gift to me. I think I need to set aside a jar and save up soon.

Suffice to say given how enticing they've made the AeroTower by placing it amidst gorgeous interior vignettes of the furniture gallery where they held the event, AeroTower adds more to beautify a space compared to your drastic electric fans. An upgrade through and through!

Architect and beauty queen, Shamcey Supsup-Lee, gushed about how the AeroTower perfectly blends form and function. “Even if the AeroTower was just a fan or just an air purifier, it can hold its own with any designer furniture or artwork on display. The mere fact that it works as both is astounding.” LG brought in Dr. Jansen Calalan, a lifestyle medicine specialist, who talked about the importance of clean air. “Having access to clean air lowers the risk of respiratory issues and heart disease, improves cognitive health, and of course, makes you happier overall.” Actress and new mom Sofia Andres shared how LG’s multi-filtration technology helps her feel safe as well. “The multi-filtration technology gives me assurance and peace of mind, that even with the comings and goings of my babies, both human and canine/feline, the whole family is safe.”

So okay, are we sold? Are we checking in on our funds to see if we can afford it? To be honest, with how fast technology is going getting us one of these now looks more a lucrative investment as time will come these bad boys will get more and more expensive like our mobile phones. Especially now that clean air is such a valuable commodity.

Ahhhh! I am loving the silhouettes of Max Mara. Designer and brand extraordaire have always been androgynous when it comes to style and it came to more prevalent this season.

Max Mara pays homage to a creative polymath whose oeuvre was overlooked for decades, and is now rediscovered. Architect, dancer, textile designer, painter and sculptor, Sophie Taeuber-Arp was that rare thing; a modernist who invested even the most everyday objects with a sense of magic and mystery.

At Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich, Taeuber-Arp and fellow artists of the avant-garde including Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Giorgio de Chirico, Max Ernst and Guillaume Apollinaire met nightly. Their performances, publications, recitals and readings played out an astonishing new aesthetic: Dada.

Taeuber-Arp's hastily improvised costumes and the marionettes she designed for her most famous work, `King Stag´ radiate joyful energy, kinetic spirit and theatrical panache. They are fully formed fairytale characters with a charm that lies somewhere between the robotic and the animal.

Max Mara's strong and surprising silhouettes are articulated with equal aplomb. In all the hues of a Taeuber-Arp tapestry, the collection explores playful contrasts of mini and maxi, micro and macro, skinny and outsize.

Part boot, part legging, Max Mara's crêpe-soled knitted cuissards feature anatomically placed quilting. Mohair sweaters feature similarly articulated sleeves.
