Everyone is Irish come St. Patrick's Day. Thusly, we're celebrating Irish cream in this episode.

Our featured Drinking Songs are Irish Washerwoman by Howie & Ann Mitchell, and Forewarned by Arborea. Both can be found on the Free Music Archive.

Alcohol Content comes in the form of a mudslide: mix equal parts vodka, Kahlua, and Irish cream in an iced shaker, then serve over ice.

I also mention Beer Bread as a tasty snack. I found the recipe on Pinterest, which is a wonderful timesuck. The recipe is very simple. Mix 3 cups flour, 1/3 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspon salt, 12 ounces of beer (or you can substitute soda). It will be sticky. Place dough in a greased 9x5 loaf pan, and pour 3 tablespoons of melted butter over the top. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes. (My first loaf, with Miller High Life, took 50 minutes. My second, made with Corona, was closer to 60 minutes. I didn't notice much of a taste difference, but then I don't do a lot of beer ...)

Do you do a lot of celebrating for St. Patrick's Day? Are you actually Irish? Tweet me @sisterveraDH and tell me about your drinking heritage.

This episode finds us in the Cathedral bunker, hiding from Cupid's arrows.

The featured Alchohol Content comes by carrier pigeon, our first listener-submitted drink. The Red Ruby calls for an old fashioned glass. Fill to half with equal parts vodka and peach schnapps. Add a splash each of pineapple juice, cranberry juice, ginger ale and grenadine. Fancy people can garnish with a wedge of lime or lemon.

To celebrate our first drink by carrier pigeon, the Drinking Songs for this episode come from a special band called M.I.P. Music In Progress. I feature the songs "Book" and "Bluebird". The music is only available here at the Cathedral or with the artists themselves. I'll let you know if they put out some more music, because you better believe I'll feature them a lot.

Bourbon comes up in this episode for a moment, so I'm thinking it will have to be a feature in an upsoming show. Tweet @sisterveraDH to tell me about your bourbon experiences!

By the way, you can search for Sister Vera's Drinking Habit on iTunes and subscribe there, if that's your preferred method of pod-catching. Woo!

The featured Alcohol Content this evening is the tequila sunrise. My recipe: clear glass + ice. (Ok, I don't always use ice.) Shot-ish (or two) of tequila, topped with orange juice. Add a little grenadine and watch it sink to the bottom, looking all sunset-y. Drink your sunrise and avoid scurvy.

There is a pair of Drinking Songs for this episode. First up is East Tennessee by David Rovics. (This particular song was chosen for some listeners that live in – you guessed it – eastern Tennessee.) The second song is Drunk, by Stray Dogg.
The featured Alcohol Content is the Moscow Mule. My recipe: copper mug + ice. One shot of lime juice, two shots of vodka, and top it all off with ginger beer. Add a lime wedge if you're fancy. (Of course you're fancy.)

The featured Drinking Song is a rendition of Antonio Vivaldi's Sonata for Flute, Bassoon and Bass by Dr. Phibes and the Ten Plagues of Egypt. This, and more songs from the same artist, can be found on the Free Music Archive.
