In this segment Sky Talk Radio features its first airline survey of the top ten things left on airplanes by passengers. Some of these may just the same old things that flight crews see a lot ans some things might be surprise to regular passenger.

10. Bags, yeah almost not funny but its true what people forget to take with them. Most of it is fun as they try to come back and swim upstream to try and go back to get them.

9. Clothing. The one sock thing, your dryer called and has the other one. Plus some other gross unmentionables. (who leaves large Marge’s underwear in the seat back) Quite amusing.

8. Children. If you forget your children, you need help.

7. Electronics

6. Snotty tissues. Please stop this at once.

5. Water bottles with pee. It is not an endurance race kids, its public transportation. Does Greyhound have the same issues? We just got to know.

4. Wedding Rings. So ask yourself why someone would take your ring off while they are traveling. And why would men do this? The struggle is real.

3. Food Its never a gourmet meal for the crew. So what do you do if you find an unopened item like candy? Stinky food review.

2. Full body parts. People carry spares. Wigs too!

1. Sex Toys Have some pride.

We hope you enjoyed our Airline Podcast.

Ken and Kirbs ideal airline: No seatback pockets, and we will bill you for the items you left on the plane. (how do you think Wall Street would like that revenue generating system?)

Episode 22, What’s In Your Bag, Airline Pilot Podcast

Segment number one is an email question about mechanical delays, your typical airline pilot and why they take so long to fix things. Of course in typical Sky Talk fashion, there really isn’t a simple answer. Of course the delicate subject of union airlines verses non union airlines is visited. A lot of people really don’t understand the process of what is actually involved for the problem to be fixed and getting the passengers underway to their destinations. Of course are all pilots as cool as the Sky Talk Radio airline pilots,,,,,err…no

This is followed by “What’s in your bag?” which is a very funny look at the cockpit conversation that occurs when two pilots whom have never left, meet for the first time. So what happens when one airline pilot is “Captain Eclectic”? A Sky Talk exclusive story of course. We also would like to convey the total dismay and disdain for anyone who elects to bring a drone to the hotel pool while on vacation. Do you have a funny story that you would love to hear on STR? We would love tell it so just go to the top of the site and click submit a story and send it to us. (any coincidental facts of this story that could be misconstrued to actual events are purely unintentional, no laws were broken)

Who are you flying with?

Episode 21, Flying Podcast, Things that Go Pop

Do you like a flying podcast or aviation podcasts. In this episode of Sky Talk Radio we talk about the different noises that occur in the airplane and cockpit. A bird strike out of Cancun is the first of many noises explored and how loud those noises can sound when you are flying. Wake turbulence is another interesting noise, which is not really suppose to be a noise (its an event) There is also the noises induced by Pilots that are interesting and somewhat disturbing as well. That popping noise was the sudden realization of what just happened. Other noises include:

bags of chips, empty water bottles, yogurt (rookie pilot), soda cans, oxygen masks, lavatory noises, outflow valves (decompression), protein shakes and windshields. Plus the disturbing idea of being connected to a defibrillator.

The second part of this episode is an email question for the Captains.

Ever wonder why all the segments on Sky Talk Radio are not the same? So do we! Actually we have to take a mixture of stories, email questions and callers to give a mix for the show so that you are not bombarded with the “same ole same ole” every time you listen. If you have not heard a caller in a while, it usually is because we are trying to mix in the callers with the other segments of the show.

Episode 20, Flight Attendant Annoyances

In this episode of Sky Talk Radio we talk about what really annoys flight attendants. Don’t even think about calling them a “Stew”, that’s so old school its not even part of the discussion. Instead the guys talk about ways that you can get on the good side of your flight attendant. Most pilots would rather talk about themselves, but truth be told flight attendants do all the heavy lifting when it comes to dealing with the public and they never get much recognition. We would also like to go on record saying that we appreciate all that you do, especially when you have to put up with the pilot group and all their arrogance. If you have another item to add to the list, please let us know. We could easily double the length of the episode but instead would rather do a part two podcast with lots more interesting items that only our cabin crews can bring to our attention.

The second part of this episode is titled as “poop slingers” and as you may have guessed its about weird things people do with their poop. As Kirbs so elgegantly states “How come you don’t hear about poop at Greyhound?” , the mere fact that it happens on planes means it has to be discussed on Sky Talk.

Airline Story Telling

In this episode of Sky Talk we go back into our history of flying and talk about our most embarrasing moments as pilots in the aviation industry. This is the part of airline story telling that makes it fun to think about all the hours and trips we have logged as professional pilots. The first story takes place in a Boeing 727 as a flight engineer and the second story is a Lear 35 Story. Both of these stories are the typical stories that most pilots tell whether at a party or sitting in the cockpit.

The airline story telling segment also features what happens when passengers start to venture off into areas where passengers are not allowed to go. As usual it has a somewhat humerus ending in typical Sky Talk fashion.

Also featured in the airline podcast episode was a reference to Kirbs being locked out of his hotel in his boxers. If you would like to listen to that episode you can click here for all the details. Has this happened to you? We would love to hear it (no pun intended) Go to the top of the page and click “submit story” and tell us all about it. If we read it, we promise to send you something real nice.

Airline Podcast, Emotional Support Animals & Haunted Hotels, Sky Talk Radio

So you probably heard about the whole emotional support animals thing right? Its the hot topic on the internet since all of the sudden people are a mess and cannot function without their emotional support animals sitting on their laps calming their nerves so they do not fall apart. How do we really feel about all of this at Sky Talk Radio,,,well we think its a bunch of hogwash and we will tell you why. Lets not make any bones about this, its about money and laziness. This airline podcast dives into the real reasons airlines are not cracking down on the abuse of people bringing their pets on board_money. Below you will find a couple of links to these websites that make it so easy for you to register your pets (for a fee of course) and then you will be on your way traveling with your animal on your next airline trip. And just to elaborate, are we saying that ALL emotional support animals registrations are bogus? Of course not, there are the honest people out there that really have a need. However they are heavily outweighed by the amount of cheats, liars and shysters by a landslide. Lets face it, if there is a opportunity for people to not have to pay and con their airline out of the fee for a onboard pet, they will take it.

If you are interested in the original story of the Peacock on the airline podcast you can find it by clicking here.

Peacock Story from United

and in case you missed this from the history Archive. See the Emotional Support Pig on USAirways

Make no mistake about this folks, this man is not a doctor.

Getting an ESA Qualification Has Never Been Easier (to try and pull the wool over our eyes!)

Also featured in the airline podcast episode is our story about haunted hotels and you can read all about those online at these locations. Do you have a haunted hotel story? We would die to hear it (no pun intended) Go to the top of the page and click “submit story” and tell us all about it. If we read it, we promise to send you something real nice. (especially if you scare the Kirbs)

An amusing dive into some US History, A very fun look at the WAF and their interesting technique of holding down the tail of a Spitfire in preparation for takeoff.

Another Episode of How Come. This time, what happens when your crew lays over in Vegas. Yes you can get into some serious trouble when you have too much time on your hands in the city that never sleeps. Another hilarious (but short) lesson of How Come, done the Sky Talk Way.

Air is Not Oxygen. An interesting story of what happens when the wrong air is put on the airplane. And of course this leads to another story about an interesting Hypoxia experiment that goes awry in our pre airline days.

The interesting story of cluster ballooning and how it all got started with a guy named Larry Walters. Ken tells the story of how a guy tied a bunch of weather balloons to a lawn chair and went on an adventure. This is a true story that spawned a series of adventurists on into the sport now called cluster ballooning. A couple of copy cat so called aviators are also high lighted with the usual Sky Talk Radio story telling fervor.

Don’t believe us? (we don’t blame you) then head over to Wikipedia and check out their page on this very sport that inspired the movie (UP) Also check out this interesting clip from MythBusters that explore this very concept. (But Kirbs is way funnier)
