In this podcast Richard Douglas and I talk to Alex Whittles about presenting. How and why he started presenting.

He is the owner of Purple Frog – a SQL Server/ BI Consulancy. He’s a Microsoft MVP (Most Valued Professional) and on the organising committees for SQLBits, SQLRelay. He also runs the SQL Midlands and the Birmingham meetups for the UK Azure user group

Alex doesn’t tell us about the secret MVP handshake, but does give us some interesting insights on writing your Bio.

Alex is a Data Platform MVP and is the owner and lead consultant at Purple Frog, a SQL Server Business Intelligence consultancy in the UK. He specialises in dimensional data modelling, data warehouse design, ETL systems, OLAP cubes, MDX and DAX using the SQL Server stack. Alex has an MSc in Business Intelligence, runs the Midlands SQL Server User Group and the Birmingham SQL Relay conferences, and is on the SQL Bits committee. As well as speaking at SQLBits, he is also a regular speaker at other events including SQL Saturday, SQL Relay, PASS Summit, 24 HOP and SQL Server user groups around Europe.

Richard Douglas is a Sales Engineer at SQL Sentry where he specialises in providing SQL Server solutions and system health checks to organisations across the EMEA region. Richard was the founder and organiser of the Maidenhead SQL Server User Group and has spoken at several PASS events including the PASS Summit, SQL Rally’s, SQL Saturdays. He has also presented at UK events such as SQLBits and SQL Relay. Richard also regularly presented webinars for Dell Software and Quest whilst working for them and continues to present at PASS Virtual Chapters on various SQL Server related topics. He was a technical reviewer on two SQL Server 2012 books.
