New Lighting at St Marys

St Mary's PCC has applied to the diocese for permission to replace the existing lighting in the chancel, nave and side chapels.

Why do we want this project?

Our current lights installed in 1991, are beginning to fail, creating dark areas in the church

Modern lighting schemes can create softer and more versatile lighting to create a better ambience

As we are a bronze level Eco-church, we wish to take further steps to improve our eco-credentials through installing a modern low-energy system.

We would welcome lower energy bills!

Who is the contractor?

CLS Electrical Services Ltd who have considerable experience in church lighting, have provided a proposal and technical scheme which can be seen by contacting the churchwarden.
You can download an easy read summary here.

How will we pay for it?

We were fortunate to receive a significant legacy in 2021 which the PCC decided to use to fund this project.

Cancelled Open Gardens 2023

I'm sorry to inform you that this summer's Open Gardens event has sadly been cancelled due to there being too few offers of gardens to visit. One explanation for this may be the serious damage done in December by 10 days of the temperature being 14 degrees below zero. This has been compounded by the subsequent wet spring followed by the current period of hot and dry weather. If you have a lovely garden and would like to help ensure the Open Gardens event takes place next year please contact Gordon Gray.

One of the musical highlights of the year for Music at St Mary's is the Poppy Prom, Concert, on 12th November at 7.30pm, in aid of St Mary's, Eaton Bray, and The Royal British Legion.

The evening combines the solemnity of words and music from The Festival of Remembrance with the joyful music of The Last Night of the Proms. This year's musicians will be the South Beds Concert Band, and Dagnall Community Choir along with soloist Michelle Norton,

The programme includes music by Rod Stewart, John Rutter, Neil Diamond, Rogers & Hammerstein, and will include favourites from The Last Night of the Proms by Elgar, Henry Wood, Arne and Parry that you may have missed as a result of the cancellation of the event in the Royal Albert Hall as a result of the death of our late Queen Elizabeth II.

It will be a wonderful evening of entertainment and is likely to attract a sell out audience. Hurry to get your tickets, priced £12.50 from the Box Office, 01525 222283 and don't forget to bring your flags.
