This article explores your options ono banking finance for your company in 2023/4.

The Best Banks for Business in 2023/4

Trying to secure financing for your SME? These UK lending providers and financial institutions might be exactly the answer you have been looking for.

Barclay’s Bank – Most Established

According to Wergs Consultancy, Barclays is one of the oldest banks in Britain. Established in 1690, this banking business once served the Kingdom of England. Now it serves the entire UK and the world beyond. As such a long established bank the team at Barclay’s have had longer than most to perfect their loan deals. At the moment, Barclays remain one of the best banks in the UK for business owners.

Starling Bank & HSBC – Securest

The Fintech Times reports that according to Which? surveys, cyber security is one of the best building blocks for success that the modern bank has in its arsenal. The two British banks named most secure for business banking were Starling Bank and HSBC. If you want perfected banking loans from suppliers who value and prioritise client safety, then you want to choose from either Starling Bank of HSBC.

Cybersecurity is a huge part of the modern business. It has never been so important to any other business as it is to your bank. Trusting financial institutions with your money is easier when you know that the institution in question is safer for your clients than others. Besides anything else, data breaches cost the worldwide economy $4.45 million USD in the 2022-2023 period. Don’t let your business become a statistic.

NatWest – Best Small Business Loans

NerdWallet UK found that the best business loans in November of 2023 included those offered by banking provider Nat West. With 12.35% representative APR they offer clients loans from £1,000 – £50,000. Repayments can take as long as a decade upon request, and their service is reviewed at 4.5/5 stars for excellence. NatWest themselves are an established UK brand with huge client success. If you need fast money up to 50k to buy new equipment for your business, they are the ones to help.

Of course, you should always confer with a consultant to make sure any business loans you enter into are the best for your SME. When it comes to financing, it is better not to take any chances.

TSB – Best Long-Term Loans

On the other hand, if you require to borrow more for longer, TSB have good base rates. The basic loan for businesses offered by TSB will lend your company up to £1 million. You can repay this loan over a quarter of a century. However, remember that you must borrow over £25,001 before you can take out this loan. Although the repayment rate is not as good as NatWest, this type of loan lets you borrow more money for bigger investments.

Metro Bank – Best Massive Loans

If you want to borrow over the £25 million mark, then Metro Bank will offer you competitive rates. The loans start from £25k and can be repaid over anything from 1 to 30 years. If you are a long standing, successful corporation, this is exactly the type of funding source you might require for setting up a new branch abroad. If your assets require serious money, opt for Metro Bank this year.

There is Always Asset Financing….

And if all your applications to banks for business finance fail, there are other options for finding finance for big equipment. Asset financing explores a range of methods wherein you use your current assets as collateral against borrowing for new machinery. Expensive equipment can be bought through hire purchasing, or through lease-to-loan financing. You can even secure funding by approaching your suppliers and asking for products in advance through invoice funding to save the cash you need to improve your equipment.

Wrapping Up Bank Lonas for Business

Look out for good rates of interest. The lower they are, the better. Keep a sharp eye out for clauses within deals, such as you paying extra after a set period of time. The best way to handle financing is to seek the advice of a qualified financial advisor. Even a brilliant business consultant can help you here.

Although the modern worker is programmed to assume that the office can’t cope without them for a week or two, this is simply not the case. The work will be processed or you can do it when you come back – but without a vacation you risk burning out and facing a long recovery time. As it turns out, knowing when to take it easy is the key to career success.

Some of us are so hard-wired to working that we are almost afraid to take a vacation. We think that if we were to stop for a moment our whole lives would fall apart. We fear that the work won’t get done if we don’t do it, but this is far from the case. In fact, studies suggest that taking regular vacations is better for our productivity levels than just powering on through.

Burnout Is A Real Issue

Ever since the pandemic of 2020/1 the remote worker has faced the risk of burning out. The way the modern world works is that employees go out during the day, do their job, and return in the early evening. We are so ingrained with the 9-5 that the switch to working from home had a national effect on mental health. Remember, that 9-5, 5 day working week was invented because full time, all-day workers lacked productivity for their weariness. If we lack the clearly defined boundaries between work and home life, we risk returning to that weariness – and nobody likes to be weary on a work day.

What is Burnout?

Burning out is a term we use to describe the feelings of lack of motivation and depression experienced by those who have blurred the lines between their work and life balance. If you work continuously, night and day, for long, stressful periods, you run the risk of experiencing these symptoms.

Burnout can creep up on you and takes months to develop. Regular breaks, vacations, and giving ourselves things to look forward to can all help prevent burnout and save us lengthy recovery times.

How Do You Get Over Burnout?

Although experts can advise on a faster treatment and recovery strategy, burnout still takes a long time to recover from. In some cases it can take up to a full year before you feel like yourself again. During this time, you will not have the same productivity levels and you may even suffer mental health issues as a result.

Burnout Statistics

According to CNBC, burnout is on the rise on a global scale. Surveys conducted by the World Health Organisation show that 40% of 10, 243 workers from across six different countries reported experiencing burnout. This is a marked increase on the 38% reported back in 2021.If burnout cases continue to rise at a rate of 1% every year, then we will shortly face a lack of employees across all sectors of industry.

Vacations Boost Burnout Resistance

One of the best ways to recover from burnout is to remove yourself from your stresses on a regular basis. If you can prevent that burnout from taking hold in the first place, you can avoid the negative symptoms associated with this condition. Scientists say that vacation time is important to combat work stress. With this in mind, here are places to go and things to see which you can book up and look forward to,

Need Vacation Inspiration?

Here is handy information regarding where to go on holiday and what to see when you get there:

France is the most visited country in the world annually. Ninety million visitors travel the French countryside every year, with favourite destinations including the Eiffel Tower, Paris, and the Louvre.

Spain is a close second, with 83.7 million annual visitors. See the streets of Barcelona or party in Benidorm. Famous attractions in Spain include Bilbao’s Guggenheim Museum or the Basilica La Sagrada Familia.

Japan is another great vacation destination. From robot servers on the streets of Tokyo to Mount Fuji and its natural beauty, Japan is definitely one for the bucket list.

No matter where you choose to vacation, do it in plenty of time. It is better to spend a little cash than to suffer from burnout and deal with the recovery period.

Add to Your Bucket List

Creating and adding to a bucket list will help you plan your next holiday from the moment you return from that first one. Giving yourself rewards to work towards means giving yourself the appreciation and relaxation that you need.

Avoid Burnout for Career Success

Booking a vacation can seriously reduce your working life stress. Getting away for a week or two is making a major positive difference to your future self. Book up, look forward to it, and relax when you get there. Don’t forget to book you next vacation as soon as you get home. The summer holidays can never come soon enough for the stressed.

Maybe you think of Elon Musk and Telsa or Starlink. Maybe you think of Bill Gates with Microsoft. What about the people who change your every day life in the shoes that you wear? Here are two entrepreneurs who changed the world by changing the shoes people wore.

German Born

Adolf (Aldi) and Rudoplh Dessler were two German brothers born around the turn of the 20th century in a town where the profession was primarily shoe making. Adolf’s father hoped he would become a baker. Adolf did spend time apprecticing with a baker. However, baking was not Adolf’s passion. It was making shoes!

Finding A Market Disrupture

Part of bringing change into the market is understanding where there is a need and finding a way to meet that need. This is where many entrepreneur minds sit and the reason they are successful is the dedication they put into filling that need with an excellent product. Adolf Dessler came from a town of many shoemakers. How in the world would he find the need? Dessler enjoyed many different sports. He found that all the shoes for each sport were the same. Would a person running though need the same kind of shoe as the person playing soccer? Certainly not. Dessler took this thought and began thinking of ways he could improve the world of sports.

The Dream Comes Alive

As you can imagine with boys born in German near the turn of the 20th century, the World Wars made their mark on their lives. Adolf didn’t forget his idea to improve shoes for athletes while he was serving in the war. He came back and began work on making new and improved shoes for various sports. He enlisted the help of a professional shoemaker named Carl Zech to help him further expand his vision. Through economic challenges after the war, Adi persisted on making shoes. He gave them to numerous athletes to test them out. He teamed up with his brother Rudoph and created the, Dassler Brother Sport Shoe Factory where Aldi worked on the shoes and Rodulph used his marketing skills.

Success!

In the Summer Olympics of 1928 the Aldi Dessler provided the German runner Lina Radke a pair of his track shoes. These shoes were created with spikes on the soles for more grip. Radke ended up breaking the 800 meter world record wearing his shoes. This launched the Dassler’s into the spot light and success for making athelete specific shoes. In the 1940’s the two brothers had a disagreement about the vision of the company and the Dassler Brother Sport Shoe Factory split. Afterward Aldi Dassler started Adidas shoe company and Rudolph went on to start Puma. Two brothers and two shoes companies that are successful to this day. Aldi and his passion for shoes and athletics changed the way athletes played their game, and the shoes many in the future would wear.

Conclusion

We can see the impact entrepreneurs have on our lives in many ways. Some from the light bulb that we use at night time, as in Aldi Dassler, the shoes we wear. Entrepreneurs use their passion to find the need in the market and producing a product that would solve the need.

You’ve probably heard the common phrase work smarter, not harder at some point in your life. This saying implies that one should aim to work efficiently and focus instead of wasting precious time and energy. Easier said than done, right? Well, maybe not. We’re here to offer 5 tips on how to work smarter, not harder.

Take a little break from scheduling your move with Black Tie Moving, and let’s get into the details.

Stick to a Schedule & Routine

When it comes to being efficient at work, you need to develop a consistent schedule and routine. This goes not just for your working day but also when you’re off the clock. When you’re consistent with your behaviors and routine, you’re likely to stay on track with accomplishing your tasks and goals for the day.

Adopt Healthy Habits

Working smarter, not harder involves who you are as a person and what habits you have in place. If you’re not taking care of yourself, then you run the risk of becoming overwhelmed, overworked, or losing drive and ambition. By adopting healthy habits like meditating, exercising, and eating a balanced diet, you’re priming your mind and body for success.

Establish Clear & Realistic Goals

You want to have your eye on the prize when it comes to working smart. You need to be able to keep up momentum and determination when your work gets challenging, and an easy way to do this is to establish clear and realistic goals. These goals will help you work towards something and enable you to create concrete steps to accomplish what you want. They’ll also keep you motivated to persevere under pressure as you know exactly what you’re reaching for.

Give Yourself Breaks

It may sound counterproductive, but research shows that taking regular breaks at work can help with productivity. That’s right, allowing yourself a 10-minute break every few hours can essentially reset and recharge you to get back to work with zest, energy, and increased focus. Instead of sitting at your desk from 9 to 5, make it a priority to get up and give your body and mind a break every so often.

Prioritize Your Tasks

Prioritization is a key component to working more efficiently as it helps you to appropriately allocate your energy and time in an effective way. You’ll want to start each day by determining which tasks are most urgent and putting them at the top of your to-do list. Once you get those tasks accomplished, you can start to work down the list of tasks that are less important. Prioritizing your work will ensure you don’t miss a beat when it comes to meeting deadlines.

However, there are some simple steps to help take some of the mental burden off of you.

That’s why we’re here to help by offering a list of 4 simple ways to manage stress at work.

Take a Break

It may seem counterproductive, but research shows that taking regular breaks at work has been shown to increase productivity while lowering stress levels. Our minds can only successfully focus on one thing for a period no longer than 90 minutes, so you’re doing yourself and your work a disservice by staying chained to your desk all day. To help limit and manage stress at work, incorporate regular breaks every 90 minutes or so. This could be as simple as taking a short walk outside or even hanging out around the coffee pot for a few minutes.

Practice Mindful Breathing

Mindful breathing is a wonderful tool to help combat stress and anxiety. This practice doesn’t just need to be when you’re at home, but it can be implemented at anytime, anywhere. That’s why it’s a great method to incorporate into your working environment. When you start to feel a little overwhelmed or you can’t seem to calm your heart rate down, try giving yourself a few minutes to focus on your breath. An easy way to do this is to inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4, and exhale for 4. Repeat this breathing exercise 10 times, and you’re sure to feel better.

Delegate Where Necessary

You don’t have to do it all! Oftentimes, stress at work comes from people taking on more than they can handle. That’s why it’s absolutely necessary to delegate work that you can in order to keep those pesky stress levels down when you’re at work. If you work by yourself or delegation isn’t a possibility, delegate tasks to yourself for the following day. Prioritize what you can reasonably get done and save the rest for a more appropriate time. This is a simple way to keep you feeling more positive and peaceful when it comes to working.

Positive Self-Talk

While we aren’t a proponent of toxic positivity, that doesn’t mean you can’t practice positive self-talk when you’re feeling stressed at work. This doesn’t mean neglecting your stress, but it’s incorporating some positivity in there as well.

Some positive self-talk mantras to try when you’re feeling stressed:

“I can get this done.”

“This is an overwhelming project, but I will handle it the best way that I can, and I am comfortable with that.”

“I’m grateful for all that I’ve accomplished so far.”

“Life doesn’t give me anything that I can’t handle.”

Certainly, it would depend on what your niche is, but you could use YouTube to become an authority in your field. Creating content in order to teach others can span across many different fields. What are some ways you can use it in your business?

YouTube is a very large search engine, used by billions of people to find the information they’re looking for. Make sure your SEO and video content keep those in mind.

SEO

Search Engine Optimization is using keywords and phrases to help people find your YouTube video. These words are phrases should match the content in the video, the title, and the video description. Using an extension such as Vid IQ is incredibly helpful for reaching quality optimization. Proper SEO will help you rank your videos on YouTube.

Consistency

As in life, consistency is always a key to success. Creating a consistent schedule for your YouTube posting will increase your success on the search engine. People want to see consistency and new content. They are wanting to see how it is that you are a trusted expert in what you do. Using this will be helpful in your success. You can easily use the schedule feature on YouTube to your scheduling advantage. That way you don’t have to be at the mercy of your personal schedule. Perhaps pick a day that you work on videos and upload them for the entire week. Whether it’s once a day or once a week, try to come up with a schedule that will work for you to be consistent long term.

Content

What are the topics in your niche that people are wanting to know? Double down on those topics. That means dig deeper on those topics because that is what the people are wanting to know about! Don’t just create content that YOU think is fun but focus on what you can bring to your ideal customer. What is their pain point? What are they needing to fix that you have the answer to? Focus on those points when you are creating your video content.

Conclusion

When we think of ways to expand our presence in our niche, we should keep in mind ways to make the biggest impact. YouTube has an incredibly large impact in the world with the amount of information it holds. Using the search engine to your advantage in your business is a key to success. What is it that the customers in your niche are wanting to know? What are their pain points? Creating content based on those questions and working within the algorithms of YouTube will help you be the most successful on the platform and in your business. Make sure to have SEO, search engine optimization, on all your videos so people find your videos, increase your ranking on YouTube.

Thought this tiny island wasn’t capable of its own production? These 8 UK made products will teach you to think again.

There are well over 8 products which we routinely make here in the UK, but 8 is a good start to showcase them. The UK has survived as an island for longer than America’s whole history. They would not have been able to do that if it wasn’t a fruitful land which has all the resources you need for survival. Mixed with bad weather and a complete lack of sphagnum moss (the Vikings used it all), You will find several high quality products that make excellent exports from these shores. These 8 are just a taster of what this land has to offer… and it offers a lot.

The 8 Products to Come From the UK

Let’s try and examine exactly what the top 8 exports are for the UK to prove that this wee island can hold its own in the global market.

1 – The Guillotine

Of course, we don’t make them like we used to, but the guillotine was never a French invention. It did rise to become the main tool of the French Revolution, but it was made by the high society members of Yorkshire. There was an even earlier version of one made in Edinburgh in 1564. Over its 145 years of use, it oversaw 150 deaths. So not Britain’s proudest invention, but definitely one of the more famous ones.

2 – The Corgi

The Welsh Corgi was first made famous by HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Her love of these loaf-like little dogs is world famous. She kept them for all the years of her life, meaning that the Royal Family have some of the purest bred Corgis in the known world. It might not strictly be an invention, but it is a huge export from the UK.

3 – Whisky

We cannot do an article about the best things made in the UK without mentioning whisky. Not any particular whisky, just all of it in general. Scots have been indulging in this top tipple since an estimated 1000AD. The earliest written recipe we have for this wonderful booze comes from the Scottish Exchequer in 1494. They called it aqua vitae – the water of life. Nearly a millennia later, it still is.

4 – Food!

Hundreds of food items are made in the UK. Here are some that you may recognize, according to the British Corner shop:

Walkers or Lays crisps.

Pot Noodle.

Fox’s biscuits.

Haribo sweets.

Pataak’s curry sauces.

Maynard’s sweets, alongside Cadbury chocolate, Terry’s chocolate oranges, Hartley’s jam, Walkers shortbread, Swizzle sticks, Maynard’s gums, and several others.

Tunnock’s tea cakes and snowballs.

Weetabix

Mackie’s crisps/ice cream

Nairn’s oatcakes

And hundreds of other products.

The UK had to rely on its own supplies for most of those early centuries. What came as a result of this is a love of cooking and recipes passed down through the generations.

5 – The Mini

The Mini first graced our streets in 1961. Since then, it evolved to become one of the most British types of cars in existence. However, if you think the Mini Cooper is the only car belonging to the UK, you’d be wrong. We also make or made the following:

Lotus

Maclaren

MG

Land Rover

Rolls Royce

Jaguar

Lagonda

Bentley

Aston-Martin

And a few lesser known brands such as MOKE, Daimler, and Lister Cars.

6 – Chemicals

Chemical production began here in the UK during the first Industrial Revolution. The earliest product was bleach, which caused terrible damage to the landscape in England, then later a dye called mauveine. Chemical production is largely confined to England, which has enabled Scotland, Wales, and NI, to remain comparatively untouched. 85% of the chemical industry resides in England, making around 20% of the research and development of the country’s yearly output.

7 – Beans

This is a weird one. The UK houses a brand named Heinz, and Heinz own a huge corner of the tinned goods market. They make soups, and tinned spaghetti, and very famously, baked beans in tomato sauce. When TikTok recently found out that beans on toast was a genuine meal in Britain, they blew up the internet. Yes, it is a poor man’s meal. Yes, there are lots of poor people living in the UK. There is real poverty here, even in a country that is named the 9th largest manufacturer in the world.

8 – Generators, Windmills, and Solar Panels

A rising star and one of the biggest Welsh exports; power generating machinery is a rapidly growing market. The northernmost parts of the UK contain around 12,000 wind turbines. Scotland alone generates enough renewable energy to cover its energy costs. Since export deals are in place, though, that renewable energy gets sold to other countries, leaving it at a deficit. The government are still adding windfarms, so it is a problem which ought to solve itself soon.

The UK Holds Its Own

If we have learned nothing else here today, it is that the UK really do hold their own when it comes to manufacturing. Do you make your own products in Britain? Let us know in the comments and we could very well add your product to the list.
