"MEMPHIS THE MUSICAL has sparked renewed interest in all the great things our City has to offer," said Orpheum President and CEO Pat Halloran, who presented the stars on Saturday. "We are proud to honor David and Joe for their significant contributions to both the arts and to the City of Memphis by adding two bright new stars to the Orpheum's 'Sidewalk of Stars.' "

Jon Bon Jovi was on hand today when New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed into law the state's bipartisan Overdose Protection Act.

Acting on his belief that every human life is precious, while fulfilling his commitment to emphasize drug rehabilitation efforts and his different approach to dealing with drug abuse and addiction, today Governor Chris Christie signed the bipartisan Overdose Protection Act (S2082) into law at a drug rehab center in Paterson. The Governor was joined at the bill signing by Jon Bon Jovi, leading drug prevention advocates and family members of individuals lost to drug overdoses.

The legislation takes a two-prong approach to help prevent drug overdose deaths in New Jersey. First, it provides legal protection to people who are in violation of the law while they are attempting to help a drug overdose victim. Secondly, it eliminates negative legal action against health care professionals or bystanders who administer overdose antidotes in life-threatening situations.

“No life is disposable, and this bill represents a giant leap forward in New Jersey’s commitment to protecting and preserving all life, particularly when people need it most,” said Governor Christie. “As elected officials, it’s our obligation to ensure that we are doing everything we can to prevent tragic deaths from drug overdoses, and I believe this bill will do that. I’m grateful that we were able to come together and reach this bipartisan compromise and take meaningful action on this very important issue today.”

"On behalf of those individuals and their families whose lives will be saved by this important legislation, I want to thank Governor Christie and the New Jersey Legislature for passing the Good Samaritan bill," said Jon Bon Jovi.

Honorees included Mario Batali and Susan Cahn, Diane Sawyer & the ABC News Hidden America Team, Food Bank for NYC Founder Kathy Goldman, and Delta Airlines, for their commitment to eradicating poverty and hunger.

JBJ with the QBase Team at Health Datapalooza 2012

Last year the U.S. Departments of Veterans Affairs and Housing and Urban Development announced, in partnership with the JBJ Soul Foundation, a contest for development of a mobile application to direct people toward resources for homeless Veterans and others in need. The five finalists in this competition were revealed at last summer's Health Datapalooza in Washington DC.

The finalist apps were evaluated by a panel of judges, including Jon Bon Jovi, and the apps were tested by Soul Kitchen volunteers who used them to identify resources for Kitchen patrons.

This week the winner was announced: QBase of Reston VA, for their mobile app "Homeless REACH"

The app is available free for both Apple and Android systems, through iTunes, Google Play, or the Homeless REACH site. The Homeless REACH website offers the same functions as the mobile apps, allowing people to quickly identify housing, transportation, legal services, food, facilities, and other resources to aid those in need.

In addition to the winning app, the other finalist apps can be downloaded from the VA Center for Innovation's website.

I downloaded the Homeless REACH app and was very impressed with its ease of use and capabilities. When I typed in my location, which is in a fairly rural area, I was astonished to discover so many resources nearby -- many I had never even heard of. Not only is this app a tool to identify services for the needy, it's a great way to discover opportunities to volunteer and get involved in your community.

With this tool, one person can make a potentially life-changing (or life-saving) difference for someone in need. Download it, play with it... Be prepared. You never know when you might have the opportunity to help.

According to Def Leppard UK, this was the first time JBJ & Joe performed together since 1992, when Jon & Richie joined Def Leppard onstage in Jersey to play a Bad Company song.

Joe attended Jon's show with the Kings of Suburbia at The Joint, Hard Rock Casino, on Sunday night, where he was spotted hanging out in a VIP suite with Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil.

Adopt a Home with the Bryans

David and Lexi Bryan are doing their part to help rebuild the Jersey Shore from the ravages of Hurricane Sandy. They hosted a fundraiser for the Foundation to Save the Jersey Shore at their home Thursday Night.

The Foundation to Save the Jersey Shore, Inc. unveiled the “Adopt A Home” program Thursday night during a fundraiser in Colts Neck at the home of Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan and his wife Lexi.

The foundation will work with local nonprofits that have already screened applicants in need of Sandy aid and provide items that the storm victims haven’t already received elsewhere.

“This makes our donation dollars work harder by not duplicating (efforts),” said Warren Diamond, chairman of the foundation’s board of trustees. “Why does someone have to fill out applications when they have done it already?”

The Adopt A Home program will provide applicants one of four packages, from building materials to gift cards for furniture, appliances or home goods such as groceries or clothing.

The organization has already provided wallboard to help rebuild 35 homes and have helped gut 1,100 homes from Sayreville to Mantaloking.

JBJ Town Hall

Back in February JBJ sat down with Savannah Guthrie and a few lucky fans to record a session of Town Hall for Sirius-XM Radio. The session aired on The Pulse last week, and has been rebroadcast a couple times on various Sirius-XM channels.

In addition to promoting What About Now during its worldwide release week, the interview was timed to air concurrently with a "quiet" announcement by Sirius-XM that they will stand up a limited-run Bon Jovi Radio channel on their subscription service. The channel goes live next Friday, March 22.

According to the press release:

"Bon Jovi Radio" will feature music spanning the band's entire career, from their very first song "Runaway," which secured Jon Bon Jovi a record deal, to the new album What About Now, the deluxe version of which includes the hit single "Because We Can," "Not Running Anymore," (which Jon originally wrote for the film Stand Up Guys and garnered a Golden Globe nomination for "Best Original Song"), the haunting ballad "Amen," title track "What About Now," and 11 additional new songs. What About Now is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, March 12.

The limited-run channel will also feature live recordings, rarities and solo work from band members, including music from Jon Bon Jovi's soundtrack to the movie Young Guns II for which Jon received a Golden Globe for "Best Original Song" for "Blaze of Glory."

"Bon Jovi Radio" will also be available online at www.siriusxm.com and through the SiriusXM Internet Radio App for smartphones and mobile devices on SiriusXM Limited Engagements 2, in the Pop category.

Richie was a busy boy yesterday. In addition to chatting with fans on Google Plus and Twitter, he stopped by Chelsea Market in NYC to busk as part of the Tip Cup series for a good cause... MusicCares.

In honor of JBJ's 51st birthday this past Saturday, VH-1 has done a lovely little pictoral celebration of the REALLY good years....

Rockin' in Rio

According to the official Rock in Rio 2013 webpage, Bon Jovi will be playing Rock in Rio this year... actually IN Rio. Yes, as in Brazil. According to the press release: (thanks Google Translator)

Milestone in the history of the world Rock, Bon Jovi is the new confirmed at Rock in Rio 2013. The band will close the evening of September 20 with the concert tour "Because We Can BON JOVI - The Tour". This will be the third group participation on a Rock in Rio, but the first edition in Brazil.

Bon Jovi has played Rock in Rio on the past two tours, but not actually in Rio de Janeiro. Their 2008 Lost Highway Rock in Rio performance took place in Lisbon, Portugal, and the 2010 Circle Tour performance was in Madrid, Spain. (How many Rock in Rios are there, anyway?)

The press release says this is the "first edition" of Rock in Rio in Brazil. But what about that lovely and legendary recording of "Rock in Rio" from 1990? Well, this YouTuber cleared up that very confusing issue. Apparently the 1990 Rio Festival was officially called "Hollywood Rock Festival." NOT "Rock in Rio."

It's all very confusing. Or perhaps I'm just hypnotized by JBJ's pants.
