Things have really been crazy lately, with the huge drop in the gaming market for the past couple of months, and now the GIANT couple of weeks with AAA releases and crap alike.

I’m sure many others are having trouble keeping up with all of the games, and I’ve had my fair share of trouble with it as well. Fallout 3 came out today, and it has exceeded my expectations. However, it kind of is an Oblivion-with-guns. But who said that game would be bad?

Yeowzas. A perfect execution of the V.A.T.S. system.

If anything, it is the best advancement one could make on the engine and overall system. Second, the atmosphere. Besides being massive and DANGEROUS, the result of nuclear destruction and the world left behind is quite a sight that inflicts the same calibur of emotions as Oblivion, or even Bioshock.

Skill distribution is great, V.A.T.S. is great, and even the regular FPS combat is fully functional, if looked at through RPG goggles (something you can probably find in Fallout 3′s huge world)

And the kicker: I’ve only played for 2 hours.

So many other things I want to play right now. I actually cut myself short tonight after I recieved my Call of Duty: World at War beta key.

I was not impressed. PROBLEM LIST, ANYONE?!

1. Sound design. Okay, so the new and painful sound effects of one being run over by a tank or being sliced with a knife are entertaining, but when you cannot hear someone behind you who is shooting at your knees, well….I see (or hear (or don’t hear)) a problem with this. This problem was also huge in….any guesses? Call of Duty 3. Which was made by… hmm. Treyarch. Yeah.

2. Weak atmosphere. I just don’t feel like I am actually in Japan, storming those “Rebel Bastards” (as loudly quoted from the game each time you or a teammate kills someone). I loved feeling like I was in the Middle East, sand flying in the air as the car i was using as cover exploded, further contributing to the warm and yellow color palette that intrigued me in the first place.

3. It’s not CoD4. So stop pretending it is, you ripoff artists.

Moving on from potential failure (just hope they fix things after beta), we have Dead Space, Farcry 2, LBP, Resistance 2, Fable 2…..all of which I’m yet to play.

It’s gonna be a long weekend.
