We all use creativity more often than we realize. In this podcast, I take principles that traditional "creatives" (artists, authors, musicians, etc.) adhere to and apply them to everyday situations.
In the time since I last did something with The Weekly Creative, I made a deal with myself. Rather than … More

In the time since I last did something with The Weekly Creative, I made a deal with myself. Rather than try to balance my time between a hundred different creative pursuits at once, I would choose four projects a year and dedicate one quarter to each project.

Initially, I planned on spending the first quarter of 2018 on writing fiction (ideally hammering out a manuscript for a novel), the second quarter on this podcast, the third quarter on writing and recording music, and the fourth quarter on something later to be determined.

In short, once I tried my hand at writing fiction, I was hooked.

Since then, I have finished a manuscript of a novel, written half of another novel, and written about ten other short stories.

My works have been featured on many horror-fiction outlets, including NoSleep, Otis Jiry’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Mr. Creeps, and Creepypasta, among others.

I have built a new website that is home to my universe of fiction called Phantom Fevers. You can see what I’m up to at my website or on my freshly-created YouTube channel.

If there are any Weekly Creative fans still out there, please reach out and say hello!

Thanks and Love,

Derek

This week we take a look at the stories that rule our society. A country’s border is merely an imaginary line, a dollar bill is just paper, and the president is literally just as much human as you or I. This episode is not a call for rebellion, btw. No seriously, it’s not.

This episode is based largely on the article, “Why humans run the world” by Yuval Noah Harari. Also inspired by the book, Why Nations Fail by Daron Acemoglu and James Robinson.

Thanks so much to all the Weekly Creatives out there. We truly have an awesome listener base. I’m calling this episode the end of Season 1, with plans to take a few weeks off. I am not sure exactly when I will be back, so keep checking back here (weeklycreative.com) and on twitter for updates. In the meantime, share your favorite episodes with your friends! We’ll see you again in a few weeks with a new and improved Weekly Creative podcast!

Why you should switch up your commute, brush your teeth in the dark, and listen to world music. This episode is inspired by my good friend, Adam Muller from the Mullercast, and the horse that I almost hit with my car the other day.
