Episode 2 - The Gym

The gym looks like a factory, smells like a wet chicken and sounds like a techno torture chamber so what could possibly explain the massive popularity of work out regimes, boot camps and aquatic centers in the year 2012? Nowadays, gyms are multi-million dollar enterprises; mega-multiplexes. Big gyms mean big money but what else do they mean?

A hotbed of neo-conservative politics, a hive of insecurities and a place of great ambivalence for both Max and Ainsley, this investigation into one of the great institutions of our time is also an investigation into ourselves.

Fregmento Stokes traces the sinister genealogy of the modern day gym. Terri Silvertree explores a feminist alternative to the gym. Brandon Davis spills his guts about his gym induced insecurities and everyone gets very worked up and sweaty. Feel the burn, baby!
