Two of our clients were very successful and part owners of the sales topper.

The colt by Smart Strike was consigned by Kings Equine, Agent and was sold for an incredible $1,800,000 to Stonestreet Stable LLC.

The Smart Strike Grey/Roan colt breezed an eighth in :9 4/5 at the under tack session and was the co-fastest at the eighth of a mile distance this year.

The horse was a record for the 2013 March OBS Select Sale.

It could be far too early in 2013 to start predicting any kind of Kentucky Derby winner this year, but many have already started to think about their picks.

For two colts the Florida Derby is a big prep race for the roses this year. Baffert’s Flashback and the Todd Pletcher-conditioned Verrazano both have the same kind of stats, but it’s Verrazano who will bemaking his Stakes debut between these two.

Many believe Verrazano will win tomorrows race by open lengths but some of the other horses need respect too. Verrazano is quite obviously pointed toward the Kentucky Derby and the Florida Derby imminent Pletcher knows he has a good horse.

So, going on the tips and past performances, we are tipping Verrazano for a win in the Florida Derby at Tampa Bay Downs.
