Panerai looks directly to its naval heritage with two new hand-wound models that channel the exact spirit of the instruments developed for the Italian Navy during the 1950s and 1960s.

Unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2026, the Luminor PAM01735 in stainless steel and the Luminor Forged Titanium PAM01629 draw heavy inspiration from the architecture of the historic Ref. 6152/1, updating the blueprint with modern material innovations and manufacturing techniques.

Both watches retain the imposing 47 mm dimensions that characterised Panerai’s early military instruments. Their cushion-shaped cases, integrated lugs, and signature crown-protecting bridge remain entirely faithful to the layout that originally established the Luminor’s identity.

A domed sapphire crystal mimics the warm visual effect of the acrylic crystals used on vintage references while drastically improving scratch resistance.

Visible through the sapphire caseback is the hand-wound P.3000 calibre. Developed and manufactured entirely in-house, this movement measures 5.3 mm thick and features a large 16½-ligne architecture inspired by the oversized calibres historically chosen for the brand’s military contracts.

Operating at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour), it incorporates twin barrels that provide a 3-day (72-hour) power reserve. It also offers a practical quick-change hour function, allowing the hour hand to be adjusted independently in one-hour increments without disrupting the minutes.

The Panerai Luminor PAM01735 offers the more traditional take on Panerai’s legacy. Its polished steel case contrasts beautifully with a brushed crown-protecting bridge and a brushed sapphire caseback frame.

The dial adopts a matte, grainy finish with an ivory-toned gradient effect. This specific hue is inspired by the "tropical" ageing seen on vintage Panerai watches, where dark dials gradually developed warmer brown and cream tones over decades of UV exposure.

Executed in the brand's classic sandwich construction, the dial features beige Super-LumiNova beneath the upper cut-out plate, vintage-style double pencil hands, and a small seconds display at 9 o’clock.

Water-resistant to 10 bar (100 metres / 330 feet), the watch is fitted with a dark brown calf leather strap with beige stitching and includes an additional black rubber strap.

The reference PAM01735 is priced at €12,100.

The Panerai Luminor Forged Titanium PAM01629 takes a more technical approach, combining the historic 1950s silhouette with a highly advanced material utilized by Panerai for the very first time.

Produced as a limited edition of 100 pieces, its 47 mm case, bezel, crown-protecting bridge, and locking lever are entirely crafted from forged titanium.

Obtained by bonding different grades of titanium under extreme heat and pressure, this engineering process creates a distinctive, wave-like surface pattern with varying shades of grey, ensuring that no two cases look exactly alike.

Beyond its unique aesthetic character, forged titanium offers exceptional corrosion resistance while remaining approximately 40% lighter than standard stainless steel.

An anthracite sun-brushed sandwich dial complements the textured case, creating a subtle play of light that enhances visual depth. Like its steel counterpart, the PAM01629 is water-resistant to 10 bar (100 metres / 330 feet).

It comes delivered on a light beige calf scamosciato (suede) strap with matching stitching and a trapezoidal titanium buckle, along with an additional black rubber strap.

Watches and Wonders Geneva 2027 dates announced as new exhibitors join

Watches and Wonders Geneva has confirmed the dates of its 2027 edition, which will take place from 5 to 11 April 2027, continuing the format that has helped establish it as the leading annual event for the watch industry.

The Salon will once again begin with several days reserved for retailers, journalists and industry professionals before opening to the public from Friday through Sunday.

Alongside the exhibition halls at Palexpo, the organisers will further develop the "In The City" programme, extending activities into central Geneva and offering visitors a broader range of exhibitions, presentations and cultural events throughout the week.

The 2027 edition will also welcome several notable newcomers. Among them is House of Brands, which will bring together Breitling, Gallet and Universal Genève under the Watches and Wonders umbrella for the first time.

Italian jewellery and watchmaking company Damiani will also make its debut at the Salon, further expanding the event's representation beyond traditional Swiss watch manufacturers.

These additions reflect the continued growth of Watches and Wonders, which has evolved considerably since the creation of the Watches and Wonders Geneva Foundation (WWGF) in 2022.

Established by Rolex, Richemont and Patek Philippe, with Chanel, Hermès and LVMH also represented on its board, the foundation has sought to strengthen Geneva's role as the focal point of the international watchmaking calendar.

Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces a more compact version of the Polaris Date, presenting the collection's cornerstone model in a new 40 mm case while preserving the design codes and practical functionality that have defined the line since its relaunch.

The collection traces its origins to the Memovox Polaris of 1968, one of the most distinctive diving watches of its era.

Reintroduced as a contemporary sports-watch family in 2018, Polaris combines robust performance with the refined aesthetic that characterises Jaeger-LeCoultre. (For more context, you can read our launch coverage of the 2018 collection here).

The new Polaris Date Ref. Q9128981 continues that philosophy with revised proportions aimed at enhancing everyday wearability.

While previous versions were housed in a 42 mm case, the new stainless-steel model adopts a more versatile 40 mm diameter with a reduced thickness of 12.9 mm.

The case retains the signatures of the Polaris collection, including a combination of brushed and polished surfaces, a slim bezel, a glass-box sapphire crystal, and the characteristic twin-crown layout.

Positioned at 2 o’clock, the second crown operates the internal rotating bezel, allowing the wearer to measure elapsed time while maintaining a clean case profile.

Water resistance is rated at 20 bar (200 metres / 660 feet), underlining the model’s sporting credentials.

The dial is executed in a dark blue lacquer with a pronounced gradient effect, combining concentric circles, a grained central section, and a sunray-finished outer ring.

The manufacturing process is particularly elaborate, requiring seven layers of coloured lacquer followed by 35 layers of translucent lacquer before being polished by hand to achieve its depth and richness.

Large Arabic numerals, elongated trapezoidal hour markers, and skeletonised hands are coated with Super-LumiNova to ensure excellent legibility in low-light conditions.

Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback is the automatic Calibre 899, developed, produced, and assembled entirely by Jaeger-LeCoultre. The movement displays the hours, minutes, central seconds, and date, while delivering a power reserve of 70 hours.

Tissot refreshes the Seastar 2000 Professional collection

Tissot has expanded its high-performance Seastar collection with five new editions of the Seastar 2000 Professional. Originally launched in 2021, the model pairs professional diving specifications with a reliable automatic movement.

These new variations offer a broader selection of colors and styles inspired by the shifting tones of the sea.

Designed and certified as a professional diving instrument, the Seastar 2000 Professional complies with the ISO 6425:2018 standard and offers water resistance to 60 bar (600 metres / 2,000 feet).

Its 44 mm stainless-steel case incorporates a helium escape valve at 9 o’clock, allowing helium accumulated during saturation dives to be safely released during decompression.

A screw-down crown, a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment and a unidirectional rotating steel bezel fitted with a ceramic insert further reinforce the watch’s suitability for demanding underwater use.

The new collection is offered in five versions distinguished by dial colour, case finish and strap configuration.

The engraved wave-pattern dials are available in black, blue or vibrant orange, all paired with large baton hands and applied indexes coated with Swiss Super-LumiNova for excellent legibility in low-light conditions and underwater environments. A date display is positioned at 6 o’clock.

Three references are presented in stainless steel. Ref. T120.907.17.041.00 pairs a blue dial with a matching blue rubber strap, Ref. T120.907.11.051.00 combines a black dial with a stainless-steel bracelet, while Ref. T120.907.17.281.00 stands out with its orange dial and black rubber strap.

Girard-Perregaux marks the 50th anniversary of the Laureato with the introduction of four new references gathered under the Laureato Fifty collection.

These non-limited models remain faithful to the design established by the original 1975 Laureato while adopting the refinements introduced with the 200-piece Laureato Fifty limited edition unveiled in October 2025, including the new Manufacture Calibre GP4800.

Ever since it was first introduced during the quartz era, the Laureato has combined technical innovation with a distinctive design centred on an octagonal bezel resting on a circular plinth, a tonneau-shaped case, and an integrated bracelet. Today, the Laureato Fifty collection is expressed through two case sizes.

Alongside the 39 mm format, Girard-Perregaux introduces a new 36 mm version, offering a more compact interpretation of the model.

Both sizes retain the familiar integrated-bracelet architecture and are equipped with a new steel bracelet featuring a micro-adjustment system integrated into the triple-folding clasp, allowing up to 4 mm of adjustment for enhanced comfort.

Among the new 39 mm references, the Laureato Fifty Self-Winding 39 mm ref. 81008-11-3530-1CM stands out for its blue enamel dial, a first for the Laureato collection.

Crafted in-house, the enamel is applied over the signature “Clous de Paris” motif, creating a remarkable sense of depth and chromatic variation as light plays across the surface.

The steel case measures 39 mm in diameter, 10.2 mm in thickness, and is water-resistant to 150 metres / 500 feet. The absence of a date display allows the dial to remain particularly clean and balanced.

The second 39 mm model, ref. 81008-11-3627-1CM, adopts an 18K gold-toned dial featuring the same “Clous de Paris” pattern.

Here, the warm metallic surface interacts with light in a different way, generating a rich play of reflections that reinforces the Laureato’s architectural character. This version measures 39 mm by 9.8 mm and incorporates a date display.

The new 36 mm references reinterpret the Laureato through proportions long appreciated for their elegance and versatility.

Ref. 81006-11-3626-1CM features an 18K gold-toned dial with “Clous de Paris” decoration and a date display, housed in a 36 mm steel case measuring 9.8 mm thick and water-resistant to 150 metres / 500 feet.

Completing the collection is ref. 81006-11S3597-1CM, which combines a mirror-finished silver-toned “Clous de Paris” dial with a bezel set with 64 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling approximately 0.55 carats.

While more luminous in appearance, the execution remains consistent with the restrained elegance that characterises the Laureato.

Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback of all four models is the Manufacture Calibre GP4800. Developed, assembled and finished entirely in-house, the self-winding movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and delivers a power reserve of approximately 60 hours.

Its architecture takes inspiration from Girard-Perregaux’s celebrated Three Bridges concept, while an 18K pink-gold oscillating weight and an exclusive pink-gold balance bridge add a distinctive visual signature.

Depending on the version, the movement comprises between 149 and 163 components and is finished using a variety of traditional techniques, including Geneva stripes, anglage, circular graining, snailing, engraving and straight graining.

Since 2017, Hublot has marked the arrival of summer with dedicated seasonal launches gathered under the Hublot Summer banner. For its 2026 edition, the Manufacture turns its attention to pastel-coloured ceramic, introducing a series of new Big Bang models that showcase its expertise in advanced materials and in-house movements.

Leading the launch are two limited-edition references sharing the same Mediterranean-inspired palette while offering two distinct mechanical interpretations: the Big Bang Summer Multi-Colored Ceramic Unico 42 mm and the Big Bang Summer Multi-Colored Ceramic Tourbillon 44 mm.

Both models combine pink, mint green and sky-blue ceramic in a composition inspired by the colours of the Mediterranean summer. The result highlights one of Hublot’s areas of expertise: coloured high-tech ceramic.

Over the past decade, the brand has continuously expanded its palette through proprietary manufacturing processes and patented technologies, developing materials that combine vivid colours with high scratch resistance and durability.

Produced in a limited edition of 200 pieces, the Big Bang Summer Multi-Colored Ceramic Unico 42 mm Ref. 441.ERG.6610.RX features a 42 mm case crafted from microblasted and polished pink and mint-green ceramic, complemented by a sky-blue ceramic bezel and matching caseback. Water-resistant to 100 metres, the case houses a dial combining matte pink and mint-green tones.

The watch is powered by the Manufacture HUB1280 Unico automatic flyback chronograph calibre, an integrated movement with column wheel operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and offering a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.

Comprising 354 components and 43 jewels, the movement incorporates a number of patented solutions developed by Hublot over the years.

Its 44 mm ceramic case shares the same three-colour composition but presents a more architectural appearance through a transparent pink sapphire dial that reveals the movement beneath.

Water-resistant to 30 metres, it is powered by the Manufacture HUB6035 automatic tourbillon calibre, which operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and provides a 72-hour power reserve. The movement incorporates a dial-side micro-rotor and consists of 293 components and 26 jewels.

Both limited editions are delivered with three interchangeable rubber straps in sky blue, mint green and pink, each lined in white and secured by a titanium deployant clasp. Hublot’s One-Click system allows the straps to be changed without tools.

Alongside these special editions, Hublot introduces three new monochromatic ceramic references in peach, mint green and petrol blue.

For the first time, the Big Bang 33 mm is offered in ceramic without diamond setting, allowing the focus to remain entirely on colour and material.

The peach-coloured skeletonised dial reveals the Manufacture HUB1280 Unico flyback chronograph movement, whose integrated architecture, column wheel construction and 72-hour power reserve place it among the most technically sophisticated chronograph calibres developed by Hublot.

A new blue titanium look for the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar

The Bulgari Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar returns in a new monochromatic interpretation that combines the collection’s signature ultra-thin architecture with a deep blue aesthetic.

Introduced as Ref. 104262, the latest version follows previous evolutions of the model in carbon gold and rose gold, while remaining faithful to the record-breaking perpetual calendar first unveiled in 2021 and awarded the Aiguille d’Or at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève.

The new model explores a more restrained and contemporary visual language through the use of blue PVD-treated titanium throughout the case and dial.

Nomos Glashütte introduces the Ahoi neomatik sky and sand in 36.3 mm

Nomos Glashütte has expanded its Ahoi neomatik collection with two new references that bring the popular sky blue and sand-coloured dials to a more compact format.

Previously available on the larger 38.5 mm Ahoi neomatik models with date powered by the Manufacture Calibre DUW 6101, these colours now appear in a 36.3 mm case paired with a cleaner no-date display and the ultra-thin automatic Calibre DUW 3001.

The new Ahoi neomatik sky, Ref. 568 (sapphire crystal caseback) and Ref. 568.SB (solid caseback), features a sky-blue dial, while the Ahoi neomatik sand, Ref. 569 and Ref. 569.SB, adopts a warm sand-coloured tone.

In both cases, the dials retain the balanced, highly legible character of the Ahoi collection, with white Super-LumiNova-filled hour markers and rhodium-plated hands, complemented by a contrasting orange central seconds hand that adds a subtle sporty touch.

Introducing the next-generation Ulysse Nardin Freak [X]

As Ulysse Nardin celebrates its 180th anniversary and the 25th anniversary of the Freak, the Manufacture introduces a new generation of the Freak [X], the more accessible interpretation of the revolutionary concept first conceived by Dr. Ludwig Oechslin in 2001.

When the original Freak was unveiled, it challenged the conventions of traditional watchmaking, dispensing with hands, dial and crown while using the movement itself to indicate the time. It also pioneered the use of silicon in watchmaking, opening the way for many of the technological developments that followed.

Over the past 25 years, the Freak has generated 35 patents and 17 calibres, becoming one of the most distinctive creations in contemporary horology.

The new-generation Freak [X] builds on that legacy while introducing significant changes throughout the watch. Developed over more than two years, it combines a new movement, revised case architecture and enhanced finishing while retaining the flying carousel display that defines the collection.

At its heart is the new Manufacture Calibre UN-232. Like previous Freak movements, it uses the rotating flying carousel to indicate the minutes, with the movement completing one full revolution every hour, while a pointer on a rotating disc displays the hours. The absence of an upper bridge allows the mechanism to appear fully suspended, creating a remarkable sense of depth.

The new movement brings several technical advances. For the first time in a Freak [X], Ulysse Nardin employs a DIAMonSIL escapement, a technology combining silicon with a diamond-coated surface treatment designed to improve efficiency, durability and resistance to wear. The regulating organ also incorporates an oversized silicon balance wheel and silicon hairspring manufactured by SIGATEC, Ulysse Nardin's specialist silicon facility.

Operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), the movement comprises 216 components and 27 jewels while delivering a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.

The movement incorporates five patented technologies, including the DIAMonSIL escapement, a thermocompensated silicon hairspring, optimised hairspring geometry and an advanced assembly solution for silicon components. Produced entirely at Ulysse Nardin's Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, each calibre is assembled from start to finish by a single watchmaker.

The extent of the redesign becomes clear when comparing the new model with its predecessor.

The case diameter has been reduced from 43 mm to 41 mm, lug-to-lug length from 49.6 mm to 47.3 mm, while thickness measures 10.35 mm without the crystal and 13.6 mm overall.

The case architecture has also evolved significantly. The previous modular titanium construction has been replaced by a monobloc design crafted either from steel containing at least 80% recycled material or from rose gold.

Water resistance has increased from 50 metres to 100 metres, while a screw-down crown replaces the standard crown of the earlier model. A new glassbox sapphire crystal further enhances the visual impact of the movement.

Applied hour markers filled with white Super-LumiNova add further depth and legibility to the display.

The collection debuts with three references. The Freak [X Grey] Ref. 2323-500-1A/0A pairs its recycled-steel case with a grey sandblasted hour disc and a light brown calfskin strap.

MeisterSinger unveils sunburst dials for the Panthero Jumping Hour

MeisterSinger introduces two new versions of the Panthero Jumping Hour, ref. PTJH917 and ref. PTJH935, distinguished by blue and golden-yellow sunburst dials.

The latest additions expand a collection launched earlier this year with a 25-piece anniversary edition featuring a guilloché dial, alongside serial-production models with black and white lacquered dials.

While retaining the same jumping-hour display and case architecture, the new references offer a different visual interpretation of the Panthero concept.

Their most distinctive feature is the execution of the dial. Rather than radiating from the centre, the sunburst finish originates from the point where the elevated minute hand is mounted.

The resulting play of light follows the logic of the display itself, extending outward from this off-centre position to the edge of the dial and emphasising the watch’s unusual geometry.

The blue-dial Panthero Jumping Hour PTJH917 pairs its sunburst finish with a silver-toned minute track, minute hand and sun wheel, creating a clean and harmonious appearance.

The golden-yellow Panthero Jumping Hour PTJH935 adopts a warmer aesthetic, contrasting the dial with display elements finished in a dark metallic grey reminiscent of tantalum.

In both versions, changing reflections animate the dial and accentuate its three-dimensional construction.

The jumping-hour complication feels particularly well suited to MeisterSinger’s philosophy of displaying time in a calm and intuitive manner.

Unlike the brand’s traditional single-hand watches, the central hand indicates the minutes, while the current hour appears through a circular aperture and jumps instantaneously at the top of each hour.

Completing the display is the gently rotating MeisterSinger sun wheel, which offers a subtle visual indication of the movement’s activity.

Powering the watch is the automatic Calibre MS-JH-01, developed specifically for the Panthero Jumping Hour and based on the Sellita SW300.

Equipped with a proprietary jumping-hour module, the movement operates behind the display with a power reserve of approximately 47 hours.

It can be observed through the sapphire crystal caseback, where the rotor is shaped to echo the fermata symbol featured in the MeisterSinger logo.

DOXA introduces the SUB 200 T.GRAPH II, the latest evolution of one of its most distinctive professional dive watches.

First introduced in 1969, the SUB 200 T.GRAPH combined the functionality of a chronograph with the practicality of a purpose-built dive watch at a time when such combinations were still uncommon.

The new SUB 200 T.GRAPH II updates the concept with refined proportions, a modern automatic movement and the addition of a Caribbean blue dial alongside the Professional orange, Sharkhunter black and Searambler sunburst silver versions.

While many chronographs designed for diving place equal emphasis on both functions, the T.GRAPH has always followed a different logic.

The chronograph serves as a complementary timing tool, while the unidirectional rotating bezel remains the primary instrument for measuring elapsed dive time underwater.

This approach is retained in the new model, whose dial displays hours, minutes, central chronograph seconds, a running seconds counter at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute chronograph register at 3 o’clock and a date window at 6 o’clock, preserving the direct readability that has long characterised the SUB collection.

The unidirectional stainless-steel bezel remains central to the watch’s diving credentials. The outer ring shows the given dive depths in metres. The inner ring shows in white the time in minutes at the depths indicated on the outer ring.

The Descent Marker (the two dots) is used to set the dive duration starting at the current time by aligning it with the minute hand. This way the large minute hand will indicate how many minutes the diver can remain at the desired depth and return to the surface without a decompression stop.

The stainless-steel cushion-shaped case has been subtly refined, measuring 42 mm in diameter, 44.5 mm lug-to-lug and 14.6 mm thick.

Compared to its predecessor (43 mm x 15.15 mm), the revised dimensions improve wearability while maintaining the robust presence associated with the T.GRAPH.

Water-resistant to 20 ATM (200 metres / 656 feet), the case is fitted with a screw-down crown, a screw-in caseback and a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment.

Painted hour markers and hands filled with Super-LumiNova ensure legibility in low-light conditions, while the chronograph displays remain clearly separated from the timekeeping indications.

The new Thermosphere Limited Edition sees Hanhart adapt its Aquasphere diving watch concept to a very different operational environment.

Developed in collaboration with the Baden-Württemberg State Firefighters Association, the watch takes its inspiration from the procedures used during breathing apparatus operations, where precise time management is critical to firefighter safety.

While the Aquasphere was conceived for underwater orientation, the Thermosphere is engineered for the challenges of extreme heat, dense smoke, and severely reduced visibility.

Its name derives from the ancient Greek word thermós, meaning heat, directly referencing the environmental demands of firefighting operations.

Limited to 112 pieces, a number chosen in reference to the European emergency telephone number for fire and rescue services, the watch incorporates key time markers used in breathing apparatus monitoring directly into its bezel design.

During an operation, firefighters monitor the available air supply and follow predefined checkpoints to ensure a safe return.

To support this process, the unidirectional rotating bezel features a series of distinctive luminous triangular markers corresponding to these operational reference points.

At the start of an intervention, the solid triangle on the bezel is aligned with the minute hand. The remaining markers then provide a quick visual indication of elapsed and remaining operational time.

Typically, this corresponds to approximately 30 minutes when using a single air cylinder or up to 60 minutes with a twin-cylinder configuration.

The prominent minute hand, combined with a heavy application of Super-LumiNova across the bezel, hands, and dial, ensures optimal legibility even in complete darkness.

One of the first truly functional and commercially successful mechanical alarm wristwatches, the Cricket has been one of Vulcain’s signature models since its introduction in 1947.

Named after the distinctive sound produced by its alarm mechanism, it remains closely associated with the brand’s identity.

For the latest interpretation of this historic model, the new Cricket Titane, Vulcain has adopted Grade 5 titanium not only for the case and dial but also for most of the movement’s key components.

In particular, the structural elements of the new Cricket Calibre V14, including the mainplate and bridges, are manufactured from titanium.

MB&F debuts HM12 The Guardian: horological machine and mechanical robot

MB&F opens a new chapter in its Horological Machines collection with HM12 The Guardian, a project that combines a highly complex wristwatch with a large mechanical robot developed in collaboration with L’Epée 1839.

This ambitious release marks a bold evolution in their creative partnership, building upon other co-creations such as the Arachnophobia kinetic sculpture and the transformable Orb table clock.

Presented in three launch editions distinguished by blue, green or purple accents, each limited to 12 pieces, HM12 The Guardian is conceived as a complete horological concept rather than a standalone watch, revisiting some of the themes that have shaped MB&F over the past two decades in a new mechanical sculpture.

Originally envisioned as a project to mark the brand’s 20th anniversary, HM12 The Guardian ultimately required several additional years of development.

The result is a mechanical duo comprising a wristwatch designed as the “head” of a robot and a 38.2 cm-tall companion figure that serves as its body.

Together, the two objects incorporate nearly 1,500 components.

Although these are presented as launch editions, they will also be the only editions produced, with total production limited to just 36 examples.

The project also marks a new creative direction for MB&F. While many of the brand’s Horological Machines were developed in collaboration with designer Eric Giroud, HM12 was conceived by Maximilian Büsser and Maximilian Maertens, who oversaw the design and development process over a period of more than four years.

The watch itself is immediately recognisable as a robotic face. The time display occupies the position of the eyes, with instantaneous jumping hours shown on the left and trailing minutes on the right via rotating discs.

Beneath them sits one side of the automatic winding system’s double-sided micro-rotor, shaped like MB&F’s signature battle-axe motif and positioned where a mouth would normally be.

Above, a flying tourbillon occupies the centre of the “forehead”, fully exposed beneath a sapphire structure that allows light to reach the regulating organ from multiple directions.

One of the most distinctive features of HM12 is its so-called face-shield system.

Operated via the crown on the left side of the case, a pair of movable shields can progressively cover or reveal the watch’s face. The mechanism functions independently from the movement and comprises more than 200 components on its own.

The shields move continuously rather than through fixed positions, allowing the wearer to stop them at any point between fully open and fully closed.

Once the mechanism reaches its limit, the crown automatically disengages thanks to a declutching system.

Developed entirely in-house, the automatic calibre comprises 646 components and 86 jewels.

In contrast to the futuristic appearance of the dial side, the movement visible through the sapphire caseback adopts a more traditional approach.

Its architecture follows the contours of the case, while curved bridges, hand-finishing and a grained mainplate reflect classical haute horlogerie principles.

The rear winding rotor is decorated with a guilloché dome created with the involvement of independent watchmaker Kari Voutilainen and his team, a particularly demanding process given the curved surface on which the pattern is applied.

The movement beats at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and delivers a power reserve of 84 hours.

Crafted from Grade 5 titanium, the case measures 49.3 mm in length, 43.6 mm in width and 13.8 mm in height.

Three sapphire crystals positioned on the front, back and upper section of the case provide extensive views of the movement, while Super-LumiNova accents enhance visibility in low-light conditions.

Mobile lugs at 12 o’clock and fixed lugs at 6 o’clock contribute to the unconventional architecture.

HM12 is supplied with The Guardian, a robot developed and manufactured by L’Epée 1839. Far more than a display stand, it functions as a mechanical extension of the watch.

The timepiece can be detached from its strap using a quick-release system and mounted directly onto the robot’s head. The strap itself is stored in a concealed drawer integrated into the robot’s base.

Comprising 755 components, The Guardian incorporates several functional elements.

A mechanical thermometer occupies the centre of its chest, while one arm carries a shield containing a magnifying glass for examining the watch’s movement.

The opposite arm houses a detachable UV torch designed to activate the Super-LumiNova applied to both the watch and the robot. Including its base, The Guardian measures 22 cm in diameter and 38.2 cm in height and weighs approximately 15 kg.

Combining a flying tourbillon, jumping-hour display, an elaborate face-shield mechanism and a fully integrated robotic companion, the MB&F HM12 The Guardian represents one of the most ambitious and unconventional projects the Geneva-based independent manufacture has produced to date.

Blancpain introduces a new Fifty Fathoms Tech on World Ocean Day

On June 8, World Ocean Day, Blancpain unveiled the new Fifty Fathoms Tech, a professional diving watch that continues the technical approach introduced with the Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Act 2 Tech Gombessa in 2023.

The new reference 5019A-12B30-94A incorporates Blancpain’s patented three-hour bezel, a solution developed for extended dives using closed-circuit rebreathers and other forms of long-duration technical diving.

The Fifty Fathoms was introduced in 1953 as the first modern diver’s watch, establishing many of the characteristics that would become standard across the category, including the secured rotating bezel. Read the full story of the Fifty Fathoms.

Conceived as a genuine safety device rather than a decorative feature, the bezel allows divers to measure elapsed time underwater and accurately monitor their ascent. For decades, this system relied on the familiar 60-minute scale.

In 2023, Blancpain rethought the concept for the requirements of modern technical diving.

Developed in collaboration with explorer and underwater photographer Laurent Ballesta, the Fifty Fathoms Tech Gombessa introduced a patented three-hour bezel designed specifically for extended dives using closed-circuit rebreathers.

Such dives can last well beyond the limits of a conventional 60-minute bezel, often extending to two or three hours. To address this requirement, Blancpain adapted a mechanism traditionally used for GMT indications, creating a dedicated hand that completes one full rotation every three hours.

Combined with a matching three-hour bezel scale, the system enables divers to monitor the entire duration of long technical dives with a single glance.

This distinctive feature is now carried over to the new Fifty Fathoms Tech. The bezel incorporates a black ceramic insert and works in conjunction with a dedicated dive-time hand finished in white luminescent material with green emission, matching the corresponding markings on the bezel.

To maximise readability underwater, the dial is executed in Blancpain’s "absolute black" finish, capable of absorbing approximately 97 percent of incoming light.

A domed sapphire crystal eliminates visual distortion when viewed from different angles, while large block-shaped hour markers and the hour and minute hands use orange accents with blue luminescent emission, clearly distinguishing conventional time indications from diving information.

The titanium case measures 47 mm in diameter and 14.8 mm in thickness and is crafted from Grade 23 titanium, also known as Grade 5 ELI (Extra Low Interstitials), a material valued for its combination of strength, lightness and hypoallergenic properties.

Unlike other Fifty Fathoms models, the lower section of the case middle adopts a bevelled profile rather than the traditional rounded "bassine" construction, contributing to a more contemporary appearance.

Water resistance is rated to 30 bar, equivalent to approximately 300 metres / 1,000 feet. A helium escape valve integrated into the case enables the safe release of helium accumulated during saturation diving without compromising water resistance.

Visible through the sapphire caseback is the automatic Calibre 13P5A. Comprising 226 components and 35 jewels, the movement operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and delivers a substantial power reserve of 120 hours.

Equipped with a silicon balance spring and Blancpain’s secured movement system, it also incorporates a date display. The anthracite-coloured oscillating weight features a distinctive openworked design that reveals a large portion of the movement beneath.

Edouard Koehn expands its Legacy Rattrapante collection with the Four Seasons, a series of limited-edition split-seconds chronographs distinguished by four guilloché dial executions inspired by the changing landscapes of Switzerland throughout the year.

Produced in editions of 25 pieces per dial colour, the new models combine one of traditional watchmaking’s most sophisticated complications with decorative craftsmanship rooted in centuries-old techniques.

Regarded as one of the most demanding chronograph mechanisms to engineer and assemble, the rattrapante, or split-seconds chronograph, is displayed through a central chronograph seconds hand working in conjunction with a contrasting blue split-seconds hand, allowing the measurement of intermediate times.

The chronograph is paired with an instantaneous 60-minute counter and controlled via a coaxial pusher integrated into the crown. The Legacy Rattrapante faithfully reproduces the layout used in a split-seconds pocket watch produced by the brand in the early 1900s.

While the mechanics of this model remain unchanged compared to to the version with Grand Feu enamel dial that we reviewed here, the Four Seasons series introduces new dial treatments that place particular emphasis on guilloché decoration.

Protected by a raised anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the main dial surface features a sunray guilloché pattern, while the two sub-dials are decorated with a Clous de Paris motif. Multiple layers of lacquer enhance the depth of the engraving and create varying visual effects depending on the chosen colour.

The Spring edition is characterised by a violet dial inspired by the first flowers that emerge after winter. Its rich tone is paired with an anthracite alligator leather strap.

The Summer model adopts a light blue dial recalling the reflections of Swiss lakes under bright sunlight, complemented by a dark blue alligator strap.

For Autumn, Edouard Koehn has selected a warm tobacco-brown shade inspired by the forests and landscapes of the Jura region, matched to a brown alligator strap.

Oris pays tribute to one of baseball’s most enduring figures with the new Lou Gehrig Limited Edition, a special version of the Big Crown Pointer Date created in support of The Lou and Eleanor Gehrig Family Foundation.

The project also aims to raise awareness of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), the disease that came to be widely known as “Lou Gehrig’s disease”

One of the greatest players in baseball history, Lou Gehrig spent his entire Major League career with the New York Yankees.

Nicknamed “The Iron Horse”, he became famous for his durability, playing 2,130 consecutive games between 1925 and 1939, a record that stood for more than half a century.

His career came to an abrupt end after he was diagnosed with ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease.

On 4 July 1939, during his farewell address at Yankee Stadium, Gehrig delivered what remains one of the most memorable speeches in American sporting history, describing himself as “the luckiest man on the face of the Earth” despite his diagnosis.

Based on the Big Crown Pointer Date, the Lou Gehrig Limited Edition incorporates a number of references to Gehrig’s life and career.

The stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter, 12.2 mm in thickness and 48.2 mm lug-to-lug, while the dial adopts a silver finish with a vertical brushed texture intended to recall Gehrig’s “Iron Horse” nickname.

Blue accents draw inspiration from the colours of the New York Yankees, with a blue minute track and blue outlines framing the hour markers.

Presented during Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026, the Panerai Submersible Navy SEALs Afniotech Experience PAM01089 introduced an entirely new case material while continuing the brand’s longstanding focus on professional diving instruments.

Produced in a limited edition of 35 pieces, the watch combines a highly technical construction with access to one of Panerai’s signature Experience Programme events.

This model is the first watch to feature Afniotech, a proprietary material composed of more than 95 per cent hafnium.

Although little known outside specialised industrial applications, hafnium is valued for its exceptional corrosion resistance and stability in demanding environments.

Historically used in sectors such as nuclear energy, aerospace and advanced engineering, it is also remarkably dense, approximately 70 per cent heavier than stainless steel while offering comparable hardness.

The adoption of hafnium presented considerable manufacturing challenges due to the material’s rarity and machining complexity.

Because hafnium occurs only in small quantities alongside zirconium ores, global production remains extremely limited. Panerai’s engineers had to adapt both manufacturing processes and component geometries to accommodate its unique characteristics.

The result is a substantial 47 mm case with a distinctive silver-grey appearance marked by subtle bluish tones.

The sandblasted finish helps reduce reflections, an important consideration for a professional diving watch, while reinforcing the instrument-like character of the piece.

The same material is used for the unidirectional rotating bezel and the signature crown-protecting bridge, whose locking lever bears a “1000m” engraving that highlights the watch’s exceptional depth rating.

Water resistance has always been central to Panerai’s identity, dating back to the instruments developed for the Royal Italian Navy during the twentieth century.

The Submersible Navy SEALs Afniotech Experience builds on that heritage with a water-resistance rating of 100 bar, equivalent to approximately 1,000 metres / 3,300 feet.

Achieving this specification required a reinforced construction, including an oversized sapphire crystal, a strengthened caseback and carefully engineered case geometry designed to withstand the pressures encountered at extreme depths.

Powering the watch is the automatic manufacture Calibre P.9010/GMT. Measuring 6 mm thick and composed of 199 components, the movement beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of three days thanks to its twin-barrel construction.

In addition to hours, minutes, small seconds and date, it displays a second time zone and incorporates a practical quick-adjustment system that allows the local hour hand to be moved independently without affecting the minute hand. A stop-seconds function enables precise synchronisation.

The TAG Heuer Monaco collection continues to serve as a platform for some of the brand’s most unconventional creations.

Presented during the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco 2026 weekend, the new TAG Heuer Monaco Speed 12 takes inspiration from high-performance twelve-cylinder engines and translates it into an unusual display mechanism developed in collaboration with La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton.

While retaining the characteristic square architecture associated with the Monaco since its introduction in 1969, the new model adopts a highly mechanical and openworked execution centred around a novel interpretation of the jumping-hour display.

Twelve rotating elements shaped like engine pistons are arranged around the dial, each bearing an engraved Arabic numeral.

As the central minute hand completes a full revolution, one piston returns to its resting position while the next rotates through 90 degrees to reveal the current hour, creating a dynamic display intended to evoke the firing sequence of a V12 engine.

The mechanism is driven by the automatic Calibre TH84-00, developed and manufactured by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. Operating at a frequency of hz (28,800 vibrations per hour), it offer a power reserve of approximately 40 hours.

Glashütte Original is taking a monochromatic turn with its latest regional release. The new Seventies Chronograph XV steps away from the vibrant, colourful dials that usually define the collection, opting instead for a striking matte black dial with silver accents.

Available exclusively in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, this new edition is limited to just 100 pieces.

The Seventies line draws its inspiration from the design language of the 1970s, a period that saw a shift toward more functional forms and cleaner aesthetics.

The Seventies Chronograph XV reflects this influence through its distinctive TV-shaped case and a high-contrast colour palette.

Manufactured in-house, the dial is finished in matte black lacquer and features silver-galvanised sub-dials decorated with a fine vinyl-record pattern that adds depth and texture to the display.

White-gold hour and minute hands filled with Super-LumiNova ensure legibility in low-light conditions, while the slim chronograph seconds hand is distinguished by a counterweight shaped like Glashütte Original’s double-G logo.

The new IWC Pilot’s Venturer Vertical Drive IW328601 marks a clear departure from the way the Schaffhausen manufacture has traditionally approached its Pilot’s Watches, introducing a model designed specifically for the demands of human spaceflight.

Developed by IWC’s XPL engineering division and certified for spaceflight by Vast, the watch is the first in the brand’s history conceived entirely from the ground up for use beyond Earth’s atmosphere.

Rather than adapting an existing aviation instrument, IWC rethought the interaction between user and watch in extreme conditions.

The result is a crownless architecture in which all functions are controlled through a patent-pending rotating bezel system known as Vertical Drive.

A mechanical clutch transfers the bezel’s motion to the winding stem, while a rocker switch integrated into the case flank allows selection between different modes, including winding and time-setting functions.

This approach was driven by the constraints of space operations, where astronauts must interact with equipment while wearing pressurised gloves.

Breguet Classique Grande Sonnerie 1905: the art of the grande complication

Among the many watches unveiled during Breguet's 250th-anniversary celebrations in 2025, the Classique Grande Sonnerie Métiers d’Art 1905 stands out as one of its most ambitious creations of recent years.

Presented as a highly complicated pocket watch, it combines a grande sonnerie, petite sonnerie, minute repeater and tourbillon with an extensive display of traditional decorative crafts.

Produced only on request, the timepiece represents the first pocket watch of its kind developed by Breguet in more than two decades and brings together several of the inventions and principles closely associated with the founder’s legacy, including the tourbillon, the gong spring and the pursuit of chronometric precision.

Housed in a substantial 56.5 mm case crafted from 18K Breguet gold, the watch immediately distinguishes itself through its regulator-style display.

Hours are shown on an off-centre dial at 12 o’clock, while the minutes are indicated by a long central hand sweeping across a dedicated chapter ring.

The seconds are displayed directly on the tourbillon cage positioned at 4:30. This arrangement, historically associated with precision clocks and observatory regulators, enhances legibility by separating the indications into distinct zones.

The dial showcases several of the decorative techniques that have become synonymous with Breguet.

The hour display is executed in white Grand Feu enamel with black petit feu enamel Breguet numerals, while the central section features a hand-guilloché “Quai de l’Horloge” motif inspired by the geography of the Île de la Cité and Île Saint-Louis in Paris, where Breguet established his original workshop.

The traditional blued steel Breguet hands, visible signature and secret pantograph-engraved signature further reinforce the connection with the Maison’s historical aesthetic language.

The manually wound Calibre 508GS comprises 539 components and 43 jewels. Operating at 18,000 vibrations per hour (2.5 Hz), it incorporates a one-minute tourbillon equipped with a variable-inertia balance and a blued steel Breguet overcoil hairspring.

The movement offers a power reserve of 56 hours for timekeeping and 36 hours when operating in grande sonnerie mode.

The striking mechanism forms the centrepiece of the watch. It can operate in Grande Sonnerie, Petite Sonnerie or Silent mode, while an on-demand minute repeater remains available regardless of the selected setting. Particularly noteworthy is the magnetic regulator developed by Breguet’s research and development team.

Unlike conventional mechanical governors, the system uses conductive rotating arms operating within magnetic fields to generate eddy currents that create a controlled electromagnetic braking effect. The result is a silent, contactless regulator that maintains a consistent striking tempo while eliminating the characteristic buzzing noise often associated with traditional repeater governors.

Breguet has also chosen to reverse the usual architecture of the movement by positioning the striking mechanism on the back rather than on the dial side. Opening the rear cover reveals the complete repeater and sonnerie mechanism, allowing the owner to observe the racks, snails, levers and hammers in operation.

Every component is finished by hand with bevelling, straight graining, polishing and traditional decorative techniques. The striking barrel bridge is decorated with a specially developed “Petit Trianon” guilloché motif inspired by ornamental patterns found at Versailles.

The artistic craftsmanship extends well beyond the movement. The covers are executed in hand-engraved and enamelled Breguet gold, featuring the Seine and the Quai de l’Horloge rendered in Bleu de France enamel, a historic shade closely associated with French decorative arts and present on several historical Breguet creations.

The edges of the covers display a remarkable three-dimensional guilloché treatment, achieved through a technique specially developed by the Manufacture to decorate surfaces that would traditionally be polished rather than engine-turned.

The case middle is also hand-guilloché with the Quai de l’Horloge pattern, while the lower crystal bears a discreet “250 YEARS” inscription. Blue PVD-coated striking hammers and white-gold gongs treated with the proprietary BRG25 colouring create visual continuity with the deep blue accents visible throughout the watch.

Accompanying the pocket watch is a 18K Breguet gold chain measuring 414 mm in length and composed of 37 links, whose fastening elements are themselves decorated with the Quai de l’Horloge guilloché motif.

The presentation box continues the historical theme. Entirely handmade using wood sourced from the last remaining oak associated with Marie-Antoinette’s estate, it follows the geometry of the French Pavilion at the Petit Trianon.

Inside, a resonance plate crafted from wood originating from the Risoud forest in the Vallée de Joux is intended to enhance the acoustic qualities of the striking mechanism.

Bringing together a grande sonnerie, petite sonnerie, minute repeater, tourbillon, regulator display and an extensive array of decorative crafts, the Classique Grande Sonnerie Métiers d’Art 1905 serves as both a demonstration of contemporary watchmaking expertise and a tribute to the technical and aesthetic legacy of Abraham-Louis Breguet.

Blancpain Ladybird Tribute: seven unique pieces homage to Marilyn Monroe

On the centennial of Marilyn Monroe’s birth, born on 1 June 1926, Blancpain introduced the Ladybird Tribute, a capsule collection of seven unique pieces inspired by the diamond-set cocktail watch once owned by the actress and acquired by the Maison in 2016.

The original timepiece, likely produced between the late 1940s and early 1950s, resurfaced in 2016 at auction in Los Angeles as part of the estate of Lee Strasberg, custodian of a portion of Marilyn Monroe’s personal belongings.

It was later exhibited publicly in 2019 at the “Timeless Elegance” exhibition in New York. Crafted in platinum 950 and set with 71 brilliant-cut diamonds and two marquise stones, the watch reflects the geometric vocabulary of American Art Deco, with an elongated rectangular case evoking the vertical architecture of mid-century New York landmarks.

A rectangular opaline dial, yellow gold applied hour markers and a vertically aligned Blancpain signature reinforce this architectural construction, while a double safety chain underscores its jewellery-watch typology.

Above and below, the rectangular gem-set Blancpain Ladybird owned by Marilyn Monroe. It was bought back by Blancpain SA at an auction held by Julien's Auctions in 2016 for the amount of US$ 225,000 to become part of Blancpain's permanent Museum collection.

Inside the original piece beats the FHF 59 baguette movement, measuring approximately 0.85 by 2.09 cm, part of a generation of ultra-thin calibres developed for jewellery watches from the early 1930s onwards.

Signed “Blancpain” on the ratchet wheel and “Rayville Watch Co.” on the lever bridge, it reflects the period in which the Manufacture operated under the Rayville-Blancpain name, under the direction of Betty Fiechter. The historical watch remains surrounded by unanswered questions, including its exact provenance and the circumstances under which it entered Marilyn Monroe’s possession. What remains documented is its presence within her personal collection, adding a further layer to its cultural and horological significance.

The Ladybird Tribute reinterprets these codes through Blancpain’s contemporary Caliber 510, a manual-winding in-house movement introduced in 2020 and measuring 2.60 mm in thickness.

Operating at 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour), it is composed of 128 components and 23 jewels, delivering a power reserve of 52 hours. The movement is housed in a 35 x 16 mm 18K white gold case, 6.50 mm thick, fitted with a sapphire exhibition caseback and water-resistant to 30 metres.

Across the seven variations, the construction remains identical, while colour defines the distinction between each piece. Each watch corresponds to a letter of the name MARILYN, engraved on the caseback, and is paired with a dedicated strap colour developed exclusively for the collection.

The dial preserves the opaline finish and yellow gold applied markers of the original design, while 85 diamonds (1.360 carats in total) are distributed across the case, intermediate links, lugs and buckle.

The result is not a reissue but a reinterpretation of a single historical object through contemporary jewellery watchmaking.
