REGISTRATION ENDS in FEBRUARY 2019.
Please download the Registration form by clicking the button below and mail to the OLT office in order to attend.

Educating and informing the general public of the beauty and benefits of family social nude recreation.

We at Oaklake Trails Naturist Park again promoted AANR and nude recreation when we hosted the AANR Convention.

Our press releases to TV, radio, and news papers brought many from the general public to our gates resulting in positive publicity and many new members. Brenda and I received many favorable comments from doctors, restaurant waitresses, and colleagues including a US Congressman at a monthly pilots meeting.

This positive publicity also became evident when our daughter Stacie planned and organized our seventh annual Arts Festival last August. We had over 30 vendors selling their wares. Many were non-nudists who saw first-hand the fun and health benefits of our way of recreation.

Events such as these go a long way to bring the non-nudist public into our nudist world. This becomes invaluable especially if some of those non-nudists just happen to be elected officials.

Quick Note About the Survivor T-shirts

Survivor Shirts will be given to those who played 2 out of the 3 games on holiday weekends, (Memorial Day, July 7th weekend and Labor Day weekend.)
This year Survivor Shirts will be ordered after the Labor Day competitions. That will give us an accurate list of players that qualify and their shirt size.
We will post online when the 2018 shirts have arrived and we will have them available for pickup.
Due to the cost of postage, the OLT Activities cannot afford to mail them to you.

(We also have extra Survivor T-shirts from last year. Some with a 2017 date and some without. These are for sale at $10.00 each. Please see Ann L. if you wish to purchase one, sizes are limited.)

Office Reminders:

NOTICE! The Electricity will be disconnected on Thursday morning (July 5th) for repairs starting at 8:00 AM. This is for necessary repairs and should only last a couple of hours. The goal is to have it back up and running around 10:00 AM. This should only affect the "west end" of the park and all RV lots.

A Quick NOTE about new updates to the website.

We have recently applied some updates to make the site load faster on desktop and mobile.
The next project is to add new photos. Some photos from the home page have been moved to the gallery to help the site load quicker.

There is a new EVENTS tab where we can feature yearly event information.

Coming soon is a new "services" tab (webpage) where our members who have businesses can be listed if desired. There will also be a signup list for guests to schedule appointments for a message.

JULY BIRTHSTONE - Ruby

Rubies are known for their beautiful red color. In fact, "ruby" is derived from the Latin Rubeus, which means "red."
Their color may range from deep blood red to paler rose red.

This month we salute Dennis D!

Dennis is affectionately known as the "Office Minion".

That was a favorite "nickname" we used, but, for many of us, he is remembered for his quick-witted charm and big beautiful smile.

He and his wife Diane have been OLT members for many years. Although Dennis retired from the office, he and Diane still reside on the grounds full time. It is nice to see Dennis tending to his garden, getting some sun at the pool and enjoying the OLT they helped build, this lovely place we call home. Their dedication to OLT is inspiring. They are always quick to volunteer and lend a helping hand.

Diane is known as the "Naked Cleaning Lady" who takes care of our rental cabins at the park. Guests who stay in the cabins continually applaud her attention to detail when it comes to keeping the rooms clean!

For over 15 years Dennis single-handedly managed the OLT office, published the Trail Guide Newsletter and much much more, the list is too long to name.

With his quick wit and professional demeanor, he continually made positive impressions on us all. In many cases, he was the first person people met when visiting the park for the first time and were one of the reasons people returned. He always had a kind word, a listening ear and a genuine interest in making your stay enjoyable and as comfortable as possible!

Hats off to you Sir!! Thank you for your many years of hard work! We all love you. Now it's your turn to enjoy this wonderful park! We look forward to hanging out with you by the pool!

Office Reminders:

Summer Hours have Begun!

Hi all, just wanted to thank all who participated in our best-yet Memorial Day weekend. We've had record attendance for this and our 5K a few weeks ago. I believe much of this can be attributed to Michael's ' hard work getting OLT's presence on the various electronic media. Many younger couples came to enjoy our activities.

I especially want to thank Rick & Ann & Jerry for their hard work with the ever-popular Survivor Games, & Poker Run. Jo was a great help working the math involved with the latter. Ruby worked hard planning the dances with Skip (who was awesome) & DJ Dave for the pool dance. We also had a lot of help from Joe & Jeannie, Kenny, & Carol G. for her Flag ceremony, & of course Bad & Pat's help with decorating & undecorating the clubhouse.

Dave & Brenda were always on hand to assist when needed as well.

Darren worked his butt off in the office during these times as well. Fortunately, Ruby helped out when things got really busy (a good problem).

The Bistro was open (& the rib eye & ribs were amazing).

We had at least 3 new younger couples visit us for their first time. A happy trend we hope to see continue.

Many others deserve a lot of credit and I apologize if I have inadvertently missed you.

It's going to be a GREAT summer! Thanks all !! Gary S.

"Garden Pat" has been a member of Oaklake Trails for many years. She volunteers to do landscaping for the park.

The Money raised from recycling goes to beautify the grounds.

We thank Pat for her efforts to help make OLT as beautiful as it is.
She also has a greenhouse with amazing plants, one of which only blooms at night.

If you ever get a chance, her Night Blooming Cereus is a must see! It's flowering ceroid cacti that bloom at night. It's an amazing flower, just like her!

Each month we Highlight one of our OLT members!

We dedicate this Month to Tommy. Sadly, we lost one of our dearest Members to cancer. Many knew him as a loving, kind, fun and a sincere individual who truly enjoyed Oaklake Trails. He was always around for a good chat. We miss seeing him around camp. He always had a good smile and warm welcome.

Anyone is welcome to attend the Memorial Events:

NOTE: Clothing is required for all attendants to the Dinner or the Service in order to accommodate Tommy's family and friends as our guests.

OLT is testing a new software platform called - clickfunnels

It is mainly used on social media channels. It helps to introduce new people to the nudist lifestyle we all enjoy at Oaklake. Sadly, many people right here in our own backyard still don't know we are here. Our goal is to use available channels to get the word out and this new software is specifically designed to do just that.

To all who were able to attend & participate in OLT's meetings on Sat March 24th. I thank you! We accomplished a great deal. We have some additions to our BOD that,will bring us fresh, new ideas. Our new VP is Joe L., Secretary is Alice H., and we added Ken S. Also, we will be getting the new directory & meeting minutes out in the coming weeks.
(The "minutes" will be posted in the Forum on the website when available)

Each month we Highlight one of our OLT members!

Ruby has been a "God Send" to OLT! She is doing a great job finding new ways to keep us entertained! One of the reasons we enjoy her efforts is because she is open to listening to members ideas. Maintaining a "robust" schedule of events is a challenge. The goal has always been to create a welcoming environment for new guests while also finding creative ways to entertain our current membership. She is always willing to listen to suggestions and help anyone who has an idea. We have many members who have volunteered their time, effort and knowledge. While we always welcome new guests, we also honor those that have been here and given for many years. Her vision for Oaklake is to find new ways of bringing people together so we can all enjoy this wonderful thing we call "OLT". "Grounds and Facilities" have been hard at work this month getting the park ready for
the summer season!

Dave is hard at work grading the roads! He is amazing on this machine! Our roads should be a lot easier to navigate when he is done.

The volleyball pool is undergoing maintenance.
The Fellas are fixing it for the new season!

Brenda has done a great job of placing new signs around the park to "dress" things up a bit! She is very creative with designs and is willing to make signs for anyone who might want one for their golf cart, home or business, and she does it for reasonable rates.

Can you find all the signs around "town"?

Our Activities Director Ruby is doing a fine job of providing good entertainment for the dances along with great potlucks and activities. She works tirelessly decorating the clubhouse to create an environment we can all enjoy!

John has also been instrumental in the planning of activities as well as the execution of and cleaning up after each event.

Brenda volunteered her time and expertise to help people write "thank you" note's to other members.
Many have volunteered over the years and since the list is too long to name we would like to say, to all of our Members and OLT Family:

NEW Members Forum!

OLT Annual Members have a new place online to share, connect, meet & greet, discuss, plan activities, and much more. This is new and we are still testing the possibilities.

The idea is to give Oaklake Trails Annual Members a secure place online to share and connect that is for members, eye's only.

We are not attempting to compete with other online social platforms, we simply saw a need to stay connected in a safe "members only" environment. So many times we find it difficult or frustrating to share our experiences at OLT in an online format for fear of exposing our fellow members privacy.

Member Privacy is our main concern. There are many other platforms to use for communication so why do we need it? Wouldn't it be nice to be able to share? Have you had a fun experience at OLT? Did you enjoy the volleyball game or potluck? Did you have fun at the dance? Want to share a pic or story? Need to discuss something? Would you like to meet other members or plan a get-together on your next outing? Use the Forum.

How can you stay connected to what's happening at the park when you can't be here? How do you meet or connect with new members? Use the Forum. These are just a few of the possibilities, you get the idea.

Where else can you go online knowing that the only people who will see it are OLT Members? The Forum is designed exactly for that purpose. Each forum participants name and email is verified through the office before being allowed access.

So have fun, post a hello, start a discussion, post a pic (such as a pretty sunset), help plan an activity, make a new friend, offer a product or service to other members or just stay in touch.
Click the create a post button to share and post. Click on a post to see a reply button. Use the reply button to join the discussion.

If you create a post you can also delete it anytime. The forum will send you a notification through email if new content is posted. You can also follow specific members or posts if you want to be notified of new updates on a specific topic or category.

Currently, there are only 3 categories but new ones are on the way! So far we have a classified section to post things for sale to other members such as a trailer or golf cart. You may also offer products or services to other members. Do you have a cleaning service? Post it. Are you good and mowing lawns? Post it!

Hello Oaklake Trails. Most of you already know me but for those who don't, I'm Darren Shields and I'm tasked with the rather daunting mission of filling Dennis Duncan's impressively large shoes. Ever since my first visit to OLT it's felt like home and it's people like family. I hope you'll think of me the same way, as family. I'm here to help and to make this as homelike as possible for you all. If I haven't met you in person yet stop by and talk for a bit or have a cup of coffee with me. OLT has a new Mobile Friendly website calendar. Our goal is to make it simple and easy to use.

Here are 3 design features to accomplish this:

A large (stationary) color-coaded Calendar button at the bottom of your screen for easy access. (This removes the need to "navigate" the website, simply press the button and it immediately takes you to the Calendar Page.)
Default View for the Calendar is in List view. This allows for quick scrolling of events on a mobile screen. To select a month use the blue arrows at the top of the calendar.
An "add to Calendar link". By clicking on an event a description window will pop up and within this window, there is a link to copy the event to your own google calendar.

The NEW Members Only Area on the website is designed to give us a safe and secure place online to communicate. There are plenty of online social media sites out there, we are not attempting to compete with them.
It's easy to use, simply go to the forum page on the website and login.
There are 3 Login options:

Facebook Profile
Google Profile
Any regular Email

Once you login for the first time a request will be sent to the OLT office for approval. This is a "one-time" function and allows the office to maintain control over who receives access. When we receive a requst we match your name against the annual member list.
There are currently 3 categories to choose from, Classifieds, Events and OLT Documents & Information. There is more to come, check back frequently as this is a "work in progress."

Upcoming Event:

On new years eve (2017/2018) member's applauded an award ceremony for Dennis. He always had a unique way of making everyone feel welcome! His positive attitude and pleasant manner helped first time guests and veteran nudists alike. His attention to detail and pleasant laugh always lifted our spirits.
We Thank you Dennis for all of your time and care. Now you may finally have some time to tend your green house and vegetable garden! We also look forward to seeing you relaxing at the pool, you deserve it! Thank you for your patience and many years of great service.

OLT has a new website coming online this year! Be on the lookout. It will always be oaklaketrails.com. All of your favorite things will still be there, such as, the list of events on the calendar page.
The previous webmasters did a great job! Hat's off to them for keeping us online and getting us this far. The goal here is simply to evolve. As you may know, in the tech world things change very quickly and what worked yesterday will not work today.
Advertising has changed drastically in recent years with everything going to mobile. Like it or not, if we plan to stay competitive in our industry we must "Keep up with the Joneses."

Our goal with the new site is an easy to use, clean look and feel website with a "mobile friendly" platform. We are doing our best to make the experience as interactive as possible, such as, a live Facebook feed and a secure forum where members can "talk shop" and share in a private online setting.
Eventually the goal is to allow online bookings! Yes, this means you will be able to schedule a park visit and pay for your room right from the website!
We are also looking into way's to allow Member's to check their status, bill's owed and pay membership dues online.

Educating and informing the general public of the beauty and benefits of family social nudism is an on-going endeavor by those of us who enjoy nude recreation.

We at Oaklake Trails Naturist Park again promoted AANR and nude recreation when we hosted the AANR Convention this past August. Our press releases to TV, radio, and news papers brought many from the general public to our gates resulting in positive publicity and many new members. Brenda and I received many favorable comments from doctors, restaurant waitresses, and colleagues including a US Congressman at a monthly pilots meeting.

This positive publicity also became evident when our daughter Stacie planned and organized our sixth annual Fall Arts Festival last October. We had 23 vendors attend to sell their wares. Most were non-nudists who saw first-hand the fun and healthy way we enjoy our way of recreating.

Events such as these go a long way to bring the non-nudist public into our nudist world. This becomes invaluable especially if some of those non-nudists just happen to be elected officials.

Oaklake Flood Control

On the OLT property there are nine of these small lakes that retain water flow during peak rain periods, typically in the spring and fall.
This is the final continuation in the OLT lakes series. We will look at the 3 final lakes on our list.

Once you have hiked most of the trails, you can become more
an adventurist and take side trails or walk the trails
backwards from these instructions.

Scum Lake: (scum pond) or (bare lake)
East past the pavilion and down past the first R.V. site is
a small pond that has a blue-green hue. It looks like a
scum, but if you move the tiny leaves of the plant aside,
there is a clear water below the surface. The pond doesn't
deserve the name.

Yacht Club Lake: (marsh lake)
This lake is down the fairway from the gazebo and is easily
identified by a large cottonwood tree growing out of it's
dam. Take trail #2 for about 200 yards, the lake is on
your left. Beware of an alligator on the fairway side!
Stepping on it accidently could result on a nasty bite.

Milfay Road Lake: (Shamrock)
There is no trail to the lake which is located just a few
yards east off the Milfay Road. It is perhaps 50 yards
south of the county line road which turns east. The county
road is .5 miles north of the Trails Park driveway. Not
especially noteworthy especially if you walk to it in
summer vegetation. If you go to the lake you will have to
wear clothes because it is in sight of the road.

A Bitcoin wallet is where you store your funds. You can think of it like a bank account that can be completely owned and controlled by you and not the bank. In concept, it is very similar to a traditional wallet in your back pocket but in digital format.
Bitcoin wallets come in various formats and designs but generally all provide the same functions of sending, receiving and storing your money.

Bitcoin consists of 2 keys; A Private Key and a Public Key
The private and public keys are mathematically fated to each other. One cannot function without the other.

Your private key is the single most important thing about Bitcoin and your wallet stores the key.
It is literally a long set of letters and numbers that only you should be able to access.

Man's Best Friend and OLT

We here at OLT love our dogs and they are a part of our society in many ways. They come to our Sunset Socials and they visit with us and bring smiles to our faces.
They are positive factors in the lives of those of us who choose to include and accept them. They have a place here with us.
That being said, let's talk about the "place" of dogs at OLT. First of all, they are dogs and not people. As such they have to understand their place in the pack as it were and what their boundaries are.
One of those boundaries is a restriction on being able to roam the park alone.

The dog policy at OLT says that, "All pets on the main grounds must be leashed and/or controlled by their owners. Pets are not welcome at the Bistro, or at other food events, or in buildings, unless otherwise permitted (Pet friendly cabins). Clean up after your pets at all times. "

To be considered under control a dog should have their owner with them both to exert that control and to claim responsibility for that dog's behavior. Having a dog is a great thing but you as the owner can't just turn them out to do their own thing because like children, they'll do what they like with no thought to consequences. Their behavior and the consequences of that behavior are your responsibility as the owners.

Also along that same line I'd like to talk about enabling. What we encourage will be repeated, and what we consistently discourage will not. In terms of dog behavior, that means not letting dogs that are not your own sleep at/in your homes. Every dog here has a place but when they are allowed to crash at homes not their own it propagates the impression that they can go anywhere and can consider everywhere their domain. That may seem harmless……until they're digging in your garden or chewing bits that you prefer to have undamaged.

This all being said, we ask that you adhere to a few tenets. First, if it's not your dog don't let it sleep at or in your home. Send them away and do it consistently and they'll go where they're allowed. Their home. Secondly, if it's not your dog, don't feed them. Like any other animal if you feed them they'll keep coming back. Resist those big brown eyes and be strong! :-) Lastly, don't make excuses for them. There is a standard of behavior for them and they have to consistently be held to it. As an example, "Spot isn't allowed in the house but others let him in". Folks, if it's not your dog don't undermine the discipline its owner is trying to instill.

If we stick to these common sense precepts we can keep smiles on both our faces and our furry friends

Recap:

Thanks to Stacie, the 6th Annual Fall Arts Festival was a great success! Guests enjoyed paintings, books, wine, health products, essential oils and much much more! There was even a "detox" station for soaking your feet.

We also want to thank the Bistro and Mamma Tigs Pizza for "feeding the troops"

Our Annual Halloween Dance showcased some amazing costumes!
The Costume Contest Winners - Janet (devil) was the female , David (joker) was the male.

The pumpkin carving contest produced impressive designs!

After almost a decade of friendly, and faithful service in our OLT office, Dennis will be retiring at the end of 2017. Dennis is looking for a person or persons who would like to work with him in preparation for assuming this important position.

Puzzle for November

Why play? Lots of reasons!

Playing Sudoku engages the brain
It can be relaxing, but challenging – you choose the level you want to play at!
It increases concentration and focus
For some people it can be as helpful as meditation in improving relaxation and calmness
It improves your logic and memory
Studies have shown that using the brain for puzzles such as Sudoku and Crosswords helps to slow the effects of dementia and alzheimers
You can play a Sudoku puzzle a bit at a time, you don't have to do it all at once, so it's ideal if you're likely to be interrupted

Instructions:
The aim is to fill in the whole grid by just counting and checking.
Fill a number in to every cell in the grid, using the numbers 1 to 9
You can only use each number once in each row, each column, and in each of the 3×3 boxes.

Oaklake Flood Control - Part 3

On the OLT property there are nine small lakes that retain water flow during peak rain periods, typically in the spring and fall.

CABLE LAKE:

This lake is east of Oak Lake. It is so named for the failed zip line terminating on the west end of the dam. There are two rusted 4 inch pipes sticking up out of the ground.
The upper end is north across a small wooden walk bridge where you will find two ison pipes like on the dam. The zip line started here and was a great idea except it never really worked like it was envisioned by the designers. The water on this end of the lake is only knee deep.
The trail to the lake starts off the Oak Lake Trail road at trail sign #1 and #3, and #5 and #7. Down the graveled trail, it veers into the wooded area and passes by an unmarked trail. The trail crosses a meadow to a "Y". Take the trail #1 and #3 left and follow it to the dam.(Note trail sign #3 is backwards.)
Follow the trail east off the dam and up a steep, rocky section to the top. Follow trail #1 and #3 left to another intersection with trail markers #1 and #3 pointing right. Turn LEFT to return to the park.
Cable Lake trail is NOT suitable as a loop for golf carts because the trail up the east end of the dam is top steep and rocky for safe passage.

OLT Lakes Continued.......

Once you have hiked most of the trails, you can become more an adventurist and take side trails or walk the trails backwards from these instructions.

CAT TAIL LAKE:
This Lake is East of Cable Lake on trail #3, and is the closest to the interstate I44. Cat Tail plants grow thick along the south (interstate) side of the lake. It is hard to find in the summer when vegetation is high. There is no trail to the water's edge.

Diamond Lake:
Is on the Lone Oak Hiking trail just east of the cut-off. The trail veers left around the lake. Past the lake and perhaps 20 yards northeast off of the trail was for years a small wooden cross, perhaps with a permanent marker, was the inscription "Here Lays Our Diamonds." Flowers were painted on the cross. Was the marker for a departed pet? Perhaps a horse? Or maybe a jewel thief's hoard. Access the lake by taking the Lone Oak Trail a short distance east from the Cut-Off on trail #3.

Beaver Lake:
Shortly after the club was started, a beaver chomped down a large cottonwood tree. This lake is just south of the parking lot. Take trail #5, across from the office and down the hill. In about 200 yards. in the wooded part of the trail, on your right, is the lake. There is no trail to the waters edge.

The I-40 corridor?

No, the speed limit on this road is NOT 40 mph.
It is a joke folks. A funny, get it?

Ray and Diana were returning from a conference in California and stopped to spend the night at a RV park on the northwest part of Grants New Mexico. Ray took Tarnie (our Springer Spaniel) for a walk in a small field next to the park. The field ran parallel along the I-40 corridor. Walking along the fence line they discovered this route I-40 highway sign just laying in a field. Ray thought, "if that thing is there in the morning when we go for another walk, I'm going to haul it home." And sure enough, it was still there. He couldn't resist, so in the back of the pickup it went. We got it home, cleaned up a bit, and hung it in our car port. Unfortunately, we hung it where no one could see it. So we decided to play a trick on visitors and there it is.

(NOTE: We have no way of knowing how it got there. Perhaps a large truck got too far off the shoulder and knocked it over the fence. Or maybe a highway maintenance team didn't want to haul it back to the depot. But it was there and it is the real thing.)

Recap:

During the Labor Day weekend the activities ranged from new live entertainment, to one of the favorites, the Survivor Games Series. October Fest was a big hit this year! Thanks to everyone who made this great event a success! As always the horse races are a "hoot" and the Trifecta has been raised to new heights yet again. The Nudelywed Finals went well, the winners received a $100 Gift Certificate.

This month we enjoyed some new entertainment:
Live Entertainment by Scott Lowber and the LIVE BAND - Hook Echo.

We also want to thank our favorite entertainers who alway thrill and delight us, hats off to:

Ken's Blue Camo - "Patriots", won Survivor 2017 and were awarded their shirts in the color of safety orange.
John's Green Camo - "Bare Buns", came in second, followed by Tim's Tan Camo - "Inglorious Bastards", and Cathy's Zebra - "Strip Naked", was in 4th place.
Bare Buns was in the lead until points were tripled in the last game putting the Patriots into the winning position.
SURVIVOR T-shirts were given out during Octoberfest Weekend. If you haven't picked up yours see Ann L. when you are here.

There will be a Survivor Booth during the Arts Festival with white T-shirts for sale for $10 each. Sizes include - L & XL and come without a date. These are for anyone who would like to have a shirt.

OLT - Aluminum Cans

Where do all those soda and beer cans go? As you know we have special, marked trash barrels placed around the park to collect aluminum cans.
The proceeds of those sales go to purchase landscaping and flower garden materials for the grounds. And you may wonder,
"Where do we sell the cans?"
Glad you asked. They are collected, bagged, and hauled to the Show, Inc. store in Sapulpua. "Show" is a not-for-profit organization that hires disabled adults and some disabled adult-aged youth, to collect, sort, and load the cans onto a weight scales to see how many pounds we delivered. The present price for selling aluminum cans is 35 cents per pound. And it takes a lot of cans to weigh a pound! So far we have sold hundreds of dollars to enhance our grounds. Not a bad deal. About 80 folks that would otherwise have difficulty getting a job are employed. We conserve our aluminum for recycling and we improve our grounds appearance. Good for us.

Oaklake Flood Control - Part 2

On the OLT property there are nine small lakes that retain water flow during peak rain periods, typically in the spring and fall.

Oak Lake:

Located south of the parking lot, in the southwest corner of the property. It is named for the large oak tree at the west end of the dam.

(Directions) To hike to the lake, follow the trail starting behind the office, at marker #7. Follow the main trail south along the ridge and RV sites to a split where a tail turns to the right or west. Veer to the left and stay on the main trail down a steep hill and follow where it curves to the right. The lake is on your left. Return to the park by following the main trail across the dam, through the woods, and up a straight climb. The trail turns right into a meadow: At the "y" continue straight through the meadow, then through a short wooded area, bare left up the gravel trail into the residential area. Right takes you back on the road to the camp.

This was a full month of events! We hosted the AANR International Convention 2017. Oaklake Trails received lots of press coverage from many TV & radio stations, & even the OK Journal Record, a business news paper. Fellow nudists
from 21 states & Canada joined us for the week-long event! We are proud to be part of the leading nudist organization in our industry. For over 80 years AANR has represented nudist families and fought for our right to live nude!

OLT - Aluminum Cans

Oaklake Flood Control - Part 1

Depending on your perspective, these are known variously as ponds, tanks, watersheds or lakes. We will call them lakes for now. These man made lakes provide flood control down stream as far as the Mississippi.

Enabled by federal government initiatives, these small lakes also provide water supplies for agriculture or crop irrigation. An additional benefit is for recreation such as fishing, hunting and swimming.

The first lakes were constructed in 1948 and continued through 1980. The entire project produced over 11,000 lakes. Oklahoma was the first state to start a lake and completed 2,105 over the period.

On the OLT property there are nine of these small lakes that retain water flow during peak rain periods, typically in the spring and fall.

Recap:

This year was the best Fireworks show EVER! A big Shout-out to all the volunteers! GREAT JOB guys!

Our 4th of July Celebration was exciting! The best part was A flag raising ceremony to Salute our Soldiers and honor our veterans.

OLT members enjoyed many fun dances, including, the glow in the dark volleyball pool party and black light dance. The Nudelywed - Game went great and we are looking forward to Friday Aug 18 for Round 3

The July 4th Survivor games was a Big Hit! We can't wait for the Final Games on Labor Day!

What is "Bitcoin" how does it work?

Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency and a digital payment system invented by Satoshi Nakamoto, who released it in 2009. Users can transact directly without an intermediary. Transactions are verified by network nodes and recorded in a public distributed ledger called the block chain.

May was filled with fun and progress!

On Sat evening May 20th OLT celebrated the opening of our 2400 square foot addition that complements the existing clubhouse. The following weekend (May 27) there was a dedication ceremony along with a birthday party for Oaklake Trails Celebrating our 25th Anniversary!

April was full of fun activities!

Entertainment included everything from Bingo and Karaoke to many fun Dances with all of our favorite Performers along with some new ones. As the warmer weather kicks in we look forward to exciting upcoming events.
May events are exciting, everything from the 5K Run and Memorial Day activities, to the start of the survivor games series and our 25th Anniversary Celebration! This August we are hosting the

AANR Convention

Bistro Opens MAY 6 at 7:00 AM!

We will be serving a wonderful Catfish special on Friday nights as well as a steak special on Saturday nights. Sundays we will be doing a buffet style dinner after chapel service. Homemade desserts will always be on hand.

April marks the beginning our "summer" season, and we look forward to seeing all of our OLT friends again.
If you try to contact us, and are unsuccessful, please leave a message on the voice mail, and we will return your call as soon as possible.

Our Calendar of Events for this year is chock full of fun, good food, and good friends. We have planned many new events and will be repeating some of the favorites from previous years.

Accommodations for overnight stays fill up quickly, so be sure to reserve early. You can enjoy a cozy cabin for $83 - $100/per night, or occupy an RV site for only $27 - $35/night. And of course, there is always tent camping, at $16 - $21/night.

Day visits are also a great way to escape the "textile world" and you can spend the entire day with us for only $54.00/individual or $70/couple. AANR members get an additional discount.

The "pretty in Pink" Valentine's Dance was a Blast!! The Live band was a Big Hit, they did a great job of keeping us on the dance floor all night long!

AANR Mid-Winter BOD Meeting February 18, 2017

An AANR ballot is coming your way. Should you vote? Yes. Why, you say. The answer is to streamline dues collection. The positive result would move dues collection to the Governance Manual and allow each club to become a point of sale. That is, AANR would return to each club a set amount of money for each member who signs up through that club. It would eliminate the idea of 100% clubs. No more would a club have to worry about minimum numbers to keep a charter. It would allow you, the AANR member, to automatically renew your AANR membership. The amount of dues would be streamlined so it would not matter how you renewed your AANR membership. The only varying factor now is regional dues.

What would a club do with this extra money? A wise club would use the money for its members with better facilities, an AANR event of some kind with food and music, or something else that might appeal to that club.

When you receive your ballot, please follow the instructions on voting.

Embedded in most reports was how AANR advocates for you the member. Advocacy comes in many forms, from having a local sheriff present at the AANR office for its official "ribbon cutting" for the new office to the AANR booth at National Council of State Legislatures which meets each August in a different city. If it were not for AANR, if would be difficult for any club to plead a legitimate case for its existence in the community.

Oaklake Trails is hosting this year's AANR convention. If you are an OLT member who wishes to attend during the week of August 7-14, you will need to register for the convention. Come meet AANR officials, trustees, office staff, and your fellow AANR members. Show how OLT rocks. We'll have daily themes that we will announce so you can be looking for costumes or adornments for your golf carts. Come join in the fun. Experience the Freedom at OLT this August.

The Meadow is also undergoing an upgrade to better serve our R.V. users. Updates include, new electrical hookups to offer 50 or 30 AMP options, spreading gravel for ease of access and installing a septic system. These changes will hopefully allow our R.V. guests a more comfortable stay.

Gambling is the wagering of money or something of value (referred to as "the stakes") on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning money and/or material goods. The outcome of the wager is often immediate, such as a single roll of dice, a spin of a roulette wheel, or a horse crossing the finish line, but longer time frames are also common, allowing wagers on the outcome of a future sports contest or even an entire sports season.

After spending many years in the gaming industry I can say I learned one important thing, don't bet on the machines. Yes, those "one arm bandits" are fun but they are also the reason casino's continue to exist. Don't get me wrong, they have their place and although there are strategies for playing them, a good rule of thumb is only play what you can afford to lose.

With that in mind OLT is hosting a Casino Night on FEB 18 at 7 PM! Join us for some fun Vegas Casino Style games! A $5.00 donation to the activities fund buys you enough chips to enjoy the evening! Although the games are only for fun there will be Prizes!

Basic AANR Covention Info:

Starting FEB 20th we will be accepting reservations for R,V.'s and cabins. Special convention rates are available for that week only. There is a 3 night minimum stay for cabin rentals. For RV's please include a brief description of the RV and needed hookups. Further Details to come.

DECEMBER 2016 was full of Holiday Cheer at OLT. There were many great events throughout the Holiday Season. One of the most notable was the OLT Christmas party! Our traditional "Dirty Santa" Game was attended by over 50 participants.

Of course The "Nude Years Eve" party is always a favorite. This year was a blast with a great Dance hosted by DJ Dave! We danced the night away by starting out dressed and shedding our clothes by the end of the dance and enjoying short trips to the hot tub to stay warm.

This years Thanksgiving Dinner had over 90 members and guests in attendance. Many used the online form to list the side dishes they were bringing.
After Dinner "Rock'in Randal" provided great dance music for all to enjoy! All in all, it was a great success. Nice to spend the holidays here at Oaklake with friends and family.

The children will receive their gifts in time for Christmas. The deadline for purchasing, wrapping and turning your gifts in is DEC 10. For information Contact the office.

Old joke: "I've got good news and bad news…..the bad news is there is no good news". Well, fortunately we have lots of good news! First off, we'll soon be starting on our plans to expand the clubhouse. The plans are for a 40' X 60' addition to the south to include a bar, performance stage, and storage area for the many additional tables, chairs and other furnishings that will be needed. Those who have attended recent events in the clubhouse can appreciate this improvement.

Starting January 1, 2017 Rowan will officially become our Activities Coordinator. She's got some great new ideas for our upcoming season like hiring live bands and performers, while maintaining those who have been so popular in the past. She will be at OLT full-time during the season and help Dennis in the office two days a week as well.

This upcoming season we will see a new Bistro operator. Many of you know Patricia Lawson from her vast experience in the restaurant business. She has operated a café in Depew, restaurant in Sapulpa, and the golf course restaurant in Bristow. She has had a restaurant in Ft Smith and more recently helped out at the Five Star in Stroud. Patricia has able help who have been with her for many years and, she says, will have no problem with nudity. Some of you may remember the desserts she has provided in the past at OLT. Patricia is looking forward to working part-time close to her home in Depew. Incidentally, she and her 15 year old daughter speak four languages, and her son who is a translator in the USAF speaks seven languages. I believe Patricia will be a friendly face and a good fit at the Bistro this summer.

We have been looking at repairing the cracked and separating tile on the east side of the volley ball pool (earthquake damage?). Also under consideration is upgrading the VB pools' filtration system and lighting. The four pool pumps alone consume over $2000/ month in electricity.

Our nine rental units are very popular now. Of course additional help has been needed to service and maintain them.

All of these improvements are costly and with our continuously escalating costs such as utilities, taxes, employees, and insurance, our rates will have to be adjusted accordingly. (the "bad news") These new rates will become effective January 1, 2017. No one likes paying more for anything but we must pay our bills.

For almost 25 years we have striven to make OLT the premier club and a first-class end-destination resort. Thanks to all our wonderful members, OLTcontinues to grow even as many of the clubs in our region have not.

UK Prime Minister Harold Wilson said: "he who rejects change is the architect of decay. The only human institution which rejects change is the cemetery". So we must always look to the future.
To all our fantastic members have a great Holiday Season, and see ya at the 'Trails.

OLT will supply the Turkey & Ham, members bring sides. There is a form in the office or clubhouse to list the dish and/or dessert you are bringing. There is an online form available. It is mobile friendly and allows you to see what others are bringing. After you submit your response you can change or submit a new one.

We were lucky to have nice weather for this years event. For minimal planning time the event went well. Guests enjoyed vendors from artists and writers to crafts and baked goods. The Live Band "By Design" played till Midnight in the pavilion. Skip Performed one song with the band, a great rendition of "Johnny be Good".

The Halloween dance and costume party was a great success. The clubhouse was standing room only with many colorful creative costumes, such as, Beetlejuice, a Dinosaur, clowns, "Donald Trunk", Frankenstein, Cleopatra, a gorilla, pirates and many more.

A message from Chaplain Carol & Ron:
There is a container in the clubhouse and also in the chapel for non-perishable foods and donations for the Stroud food pantry. I will deliver the thanksgiving supplies Nov 8th.to the pantry. We will continue to take donations for Christmas after Nov. 8th.Deadline for Christmas is Dec 13. Thank You

The internet is really big. It keeps growing bigger every day. If you want to search it effectively you're going to need a couple of tricks to help you narrow the search. Try using +, - and " " (quotes) to narrow your searches. Let's say you searched for apples on Google.com. If you just type in "apples" you get 22 million returns. A few more sites than you can check in an afternoon so let's narrow the search down. Let's say that what you're really interested in is green apples. To see all the apple websites that also have the word "green" on them type this: apples+green, Now you will only see those apple sites that also have the word green on them. To narrow the search even more eliminate a word. For example, some of the websites are also about Apple Computers so get rid of them by typing this: apples+green-computers. A final way to narrow the search is to use quotes to narrow the search to an exact phrase. For example if what we're really interested in is granny smith apples we can add that to the search like this: apples+green-computers"granny smith" Now I will only see websites that have the words "granny smith" on them in that order spelled the way I spelled them.
These techniques will work in most search engines, not just Google.

Greetings All,

I wanted to take moment to express how very excited I am to be the OLT activities director for 2017.

I have some cool ideas for theme weekends and some new fun and games we can all get into. I will be searching for new talent to bring your way as well. But don't worry you will still have the opportunity to enjoy good times with your long time favorites who have continued to rock OLT over the years.

The activities position is a huge undertaking as I am sure those that have come before me will corroborate, and one that certainly cannot be done alone.
I am open to any and all ideas and suggestions for what you might like to see as far as entertainment and what you would like to do as far as activities. I will also be forming a committee to make it all happen. I'll be visiting OLT for two weeks at the beginning of November to start the party ball rolling. It will be so great to see all of you.

LABOR DAY FESTIVAL.

This year was Fun, Fast and Furious! Guests Enjoyed many Great Events such as Volleyball, Dances and The Final Games in the Survivor Series. The Bistro offered Breakfast Specials Thanks to Kathy & Dave, those pancakes and omelettes tasted supurb! Did you know bowling balls could float? Our Survivor teams learned the hard way during a relay race in the pool.

Park News

The plan is for the volleyball pool to remain open till the end of this month. Chapel attendance was on the rise this summer, services are scheduled for 10am Sunday morning. The Bistro is closed for the season.

"Beethovens Trashbin"

It is said that some time after the death of Ludwig Van Beethoven, his garbage was excavated. What was found was balled up manuscripts he had rejected. Upon closer examination, these balled up rejects contained some of the sweetest music any composer could ever wish to write. They weren't good enough for Beethoven. He could have pasted them together and just by the virtue of his name, created pieces people would no doubt play even to this day, but no, he threw them away.

Good Can Never Replace Best.

Beethoven wrote with conviction. Each line, each phrase, each motif, had a definite purpose and place as though he were writing something to be woven into the fabric of the future. Ludwig Van Beethoven by no means was a prolific composer, he wrote only 9 symphonies compared to Haydn's 104 and Mozart's 41. Yet, those nine symphonies created a paradigm shift that shook the music world. He ushered in the Romantic music period. Beethoven, was a game changer.

In the mass production world we live in today, Beethoven calls out to us. He challenges us to find our masterpiece. Rather than doing good enough, we are challenged to contribute to our very best.

What could this be? For Beethoven it was music. I believe we are all given the opportunity to be a game changer, to create a masterpiece..

When you have passed, should there be an excavation of what you kept and what you threw away, what will be found? Will there be evidence that you tossed away what was not good enough in order to make room for what was best?
What is your masterpiece?

"Garden Pat's" Night-Blooming Cereus

"Transient Beauty."

The Night-Blooming Cereus was first discovered by early navigators in the jungles of Central and South America.
It is a clambering, almost vinelike perennial belonging to the Epiphyllum group.
Parties have been thrown for this flower. That's because for one night a year it will bloom and close before the sun peeps out again.
Petal by petal, hour by hour, the thin creamy outer petals unfold, followed by broader pure-white inner petals, which surround yellow stamens. The flower finally reaches its full glory, which may be as small as 5 inches across or as wide as a foot, around midnight, give or take an hour or so.
"Garden Pat" as we affectionately call her, was witness to this annual event in her own Red Cabin Garden.

What is a #hashtag?

A hashtag is a label for content. Hashtags are used mostly on social media sites such as Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Think of it as a way to "categorize" any content.
A hashtag can be a single word, an abbreviation, an invented combination of letters and numbers, or a phrase.
It helps others who are interested in a certain topic, quickly find content on that same topic. Anyone sharing content on a relevant topic can add the hashtag label to their message to help others find simular information.
All you do to create a hashtag is think it up.
Start With the # Symbol, No Spaces Allowed.

Then start using it in your messages. Usually you add it to the end of messages. But you could add it anywhere in the message that makes sense, as long as it's readable.
Try it some time by simply typing it into any search field.
For example, on Facebook type in #oltevents to see a list of our posts.

It seems that a little bit of sunshine on your body is actually good for you. Studies have shown that a sensible amount of sun reduces your risk of several cancers and other serious health conditions. It's all thanks to vitamin D, which is made by our bodies through the action of the sun's UVB rays on our skin.
Most of us start smiling when the summer comes and it's no surprise - a little sunshine every day can boost your mood and also help to prevent a host of serious illnesses. For years we have been told to cover up in the sun to cut the risk of getting skin cancer. Most of us simply don't eat healthily enough to get adequate amounts, leaving the sun as the primary source of this important vitamin.

Office Reminders

A little "housekeeping". The office would like to note a couple of things, such as: Please use the recepticles provided when disposing of trash; multiple containers are provided; one for aluminimum cans and one for regular trash. When using the large trash bins at the front gate make sure all boxes are broken down before being placed in the bins.

All visitors must check in at the office upon arrival even if accomponied by an OLT member. Please shower before entering the pools or hot tub to remove any oils or sunblock products. This helps keep the pools clean for all to enjoy.
Be careful with muddy tires from riding the trails after a good rain. Please remember to turn off the lights in the clubhouse when you leave. Take your dishes home after a potluck and help us clean up afterwards.

Please do not feed the wild animals and watch out for the pigmy snakes.

This years Festival was a big hit! Lot's of new faces attended the 3 days of festivities, including the sat night cookout and dance!

Incidentally, we ran out of burgers, thanks to Jerry C for providing hot dogs, we fed everyone who was hungry.

Kush Radio was on site for a live broadcast in the meadow before the dance. Rockin Randal and Rowdy RO also performed several live shows on OLT's new FM radio station "Nude Radio" which broadcasts every day at the park! Any time your on the OLT grounds tune your dials to 90.3 to hear daily music and announcements.
Hats off to Rowan for organizing, planning and running this successful Event. She also produced the Nudestock flyer which used artwork from the original Woodstock and was shared and viewed by hundreds online.
We look forward to next year!

The office got a face lift this month with the newly stained wooden deck. A big Thank You to Alan for donating his time and expertise to sand and stain the entire deck from start to finish, it was much needed and appreciated!

A couple who hadn't been to OLT for a few years enthusiastically exclaimed to me recently that so much has changed since their last visit. That was true. Since their visit we've added another heated pool and deck, permanent shade awnings, some 80 new pool lounge chairs, four new duplexes, a chapel, new Bistro equipment, increased water storage capacity, and expanded our social media sites along with our new radio station: 90.3 FM. They told me that they had visited numerous clubs and resorts both within and outside the US and had not seen them improve so dramatically.

At that evenings' dance the wife said "this place rocks!". Yes it does. For almost 25 years now this place has "rocked", and we want to keep rockin'. As many of you know our Activities Co-Chairs Tim and Jenn have had to resign. They, like others in the past, have valiantly taken on this position only to realize that family and life in general prevents them from devoting the time and effort needed to provide us with the "robust calendar of events" we expect. Being Activities Chair is a BIG job. The time and effort it takes to plan,organize, direct these events, and find, recruit and hire new talent is substantial.

Rowan W. has offered to step up and take on this challenge. She's got some great new ideas like bringing live bands and other performers to OLT. To do this she has asked for a substantially increased Activities budget. Our BOD has never shied away from difficult decisions and we believe that bringing Rowan onto our team will result in new, fresh and fun entertainment for all at OLT.

In June this year OLT started a new Social Media Campaign, we are proud to say it's going well. There are new OLT profiles on Pinterest and Instagram, so be on the lookout for our postings on those platforms. Our strategy in the media is to create consistent, helpful and interesting content that keeps people engaged. The goal is to grow our membership base by creating interest online to draw in new visitors to the park who in turn become members. We have gained a considerable reach online in just a few short months. Our Facebook and Twitter pages have a potential reach of over 20K! We have a blog on Blogger for the Trail Guide which has had over 3000 views.
We also use these platforms to stay in touch with our current members and we encourage everyone to help us along the way by liking or sharing any content you see us post.

If you see a post from OLT on Facebook please hit the like button, it is appreciated and helps the club get more exposure. We understand the privacy issue and we certainly don't expect anyone to jeopardize themselves.
That said, if you are able to help, it would be greatly appreciated!
