The scripture mentioned some of David’s men of valor that did remarkable things in their lifetime. It is recorded,

“These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-Basshebeth the Tachmonite, chief among the captains. He was called Adino the Eznite, because he had killed eight hundred men at one time. And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel had retreated. He arose and attacked the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand stuck to the sword. The Lord brought about a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to plunder. And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines had gathered together into a troop where there was a piece of ground full of lentils. So the people fled from the Philistines. But he stationed himself in the middle of the field, defended it, and killed the Philistines. So the Lord brought about a great victory” (2 Samuel 23:8-12).

Lesson:

God always does remarkable things through any individual or a group of people that release themselves for his use. God can use anyone, and he will use you and me if we cooperate with him! The extent of God’s use of anyone cannot be imagined; if a person says “Yes Lord,” God will rejoice; flex his muscles, and use the fellow until the world is saturated with his glory! Therefore, every Christian should be familiar with a statement that says, “If God can use anyone, he can use me!”

Prayer:

Dear Lord, “If you can use anyone, you can use me!” I am ready for your use. I let down my pride, and I release myself for your use. I will not be rebellious to you anymore, and I will do whatever you ask me to do. I will jump if you say jump, and I will sit if you say sit. I will stop questioning your authority again, but I will completely yield myself to you. Please use me today, tomorrow, and throughout the days of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

People who benefited from Jesus’ miracle of food provisions had shallow minds. They misconceived Jesus as a magician, and they would prefer that he become a king so that he could satisfy them with more magic. However, Jesus corrected the nonsense! He said,

“Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him” (John 6:26-27).

Lesson:

Food for belly and belly for food, but they would all be destroyed together! Human efforts should not be centered on physical foods that would digest and be flushed into the toilet. All people should pursue spiritual foods that will last eternally. Jesus Christ is the bread of life that lasts forever, and anyone who eats the bread will never suffer hunger again. The Savior has stated, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me shall never hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst” (John 6:35).

Prayer:

Dear Jesus Christ, I believe that you are the bread of life that comes from God, and I confess you as my personal Lord and Savior. Henceforth, I will serve you with all my might, and I will follow you unto the end. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.

King David recounted God’s goodness over his life; he praised God for deliverance and victories over all his enemies. The king composed a special song to God and said,

“…He sent from above, He took me, He drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy, from those who hated me; for they were too strong for me. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my support. He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me” (2 Samuel 22:17-20).

Lesson:

God deserves the praises of his people. He has always been the source of our safety, and he has blessed us beyond what we deserve. The least that we can do to God is to sing, dance, and praise his holy name. God will bless people that offer him dedicated praises, and he will always be motivated to shower them with more goodness.

Prayer:

Dear God, please give me a heart of gratitude. Let me be appreciative of your grace and goodness over my life. Let my praises satisfy you so that I can receive more blessings in return. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.

Jesus Christ cared for hungry people; he did not only preach to them, but he also fed them. At least 5,000 people benefited from Jesus’ food-for-all miracle program in an instance. The scripture reported,

“Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted” (John 6:11).

Lesson:

Jesus is the Savior of the world, but that is not all. He is also the giver of physical miracles! Christ has the power to appeal to both the physical and spiritual needs of people that reserve their trust in him. Anyone who confides in Jesus Christ will not be ashamed! A person who calls on Jesus for help over any matter will have his or her expectations met. The fellow will never be ashamed that he has got the Son of God involved in his or her situation. Hence, all people should reserve their trust in Jesus Christ who has the power to do all things.

Prayer:

Dear Jesus Christ, I bring all my problems before you, and I ask you to solve them all. Please, provide for my physical and spiritual needs, and make all situations turn and become my blessings. Enable me to experience your goodness throughout the days of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.

Evil moments came to David’s life; insider enemies surrounded him, but the man of God knew the right thing to do. He called on God for help, and he was not disappointed. The scripture expressed some moments of David’s distress and how he called on God in Psalm 64 and Psalm 70. Among many petitions, David cried unto God and said,

“Make haste, O God, to deliver me! Make haste to help me, O Lord! Let them be ashamed and confounded who seek my life; Let them be turned back and confused who desire my hurt. Let them be turned back because of their shame, who say, “Aha, aha!” Let all those who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; And let those who love your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified!” (Psalm 70:1-4).

Lesson:

God will help his children, and he will not leave them helpless during a crisis. Jehovah will defend and fight for his own children until he brings them fame, and also bring shame to their enemies. The Almighty God who cares for his children does not sleep, and he does not slumber. He is precise in action, and he will enforce a perfect deliverance for people who cast their trust in him.

Prayer:

Dear God, I look up to you for help during my time of need. I invite you into my situation, and I beg you to help me. Please provide solutions to all my problems, and let your goodness manifest in my life to the fullness. Also, confuse my enemies and let them stumble at their evil plots and imaginations. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.

Jesus Christ announced to all people that his salvation offer is the only determining factor for anyone to enter into the kingdom of God. A person who rejects Jesus’ offer of salvation will not have a part in the kingdom of God. Jesus said,

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes in Him who sent me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man” (John 5:24-26).

Lesson:

The Lord’s Day of Judgment shall surely come for all people to experience. Both dead and the living shall face God’s judicial panel; the Creator will send unrepentant sinners to hellfire, but he will send the repentant sinners to heaven. The people classified as repentant sinners are those who have repented from their sins and have also accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Unrepentant sinners are the people (dead or alive) who have refused to declare Jesus Christ as the Son of God and have also refused to accept him as their Savior.

Prayer:

Dear Jesus Christ, I do not want to go to hellfire, but I want to go to heaven. Therefore, I confess that you are the Son of God who has died for the sin of the whole world. I accept you, Jesus Christ, as my personal Lord and Savior; I repent from my sins, and I will faithfully serve you from now on, and throughout the days of my life. So help me God! Amen.

Christians are required to give due honor to God; we must not take him for granted, but we must give all it takes to make him happy with our faithful living. The Creator reserves measurable punishments for any of his children that deviates from the truth. It is written,

“God is jealous, and the Lord avenges; The Lord avenges and is furious. The Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries, and He reserves wrath for His enemies; The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked. The Lord has His way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet. He rebukes the sea and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel wither, and the flower of Lebanon wilts. The mountains quake before Him, The hills melt, and the earth heaves at His presence, Yes, the world and all who dwell in it. Who can stand before His indignation? And who can endure the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by Him. The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him. But with an overflowing flood He will make an utter end of its place, and darkness will pursue His enemies” (Nahum 1:2-8).

Lesson:

God’s goodness is ever available to overflow his children. He will go the extra mile to defend his names in their lives. However, the scriptures warn us to be careful in how we deal with God. We are not allowed to misuse his benefits; we must make every effort to appreciate him with godly living. If we do things right and serve him well, the Creator will increase his goodness in our lives, and he will decorate us with more honor.

Prayer:

Dear God, please give me the grace to walk in your ways always. Do not let me take your benefits for granted, but help me to be appreciative of them. Empower me to live an acceptable life before you always, and please multiply your benefits in my life, so that I can share the testimony of your goodness every day of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.

Jesus Christ healed a man by the Pool of Siloam despite the man’s inability to focus on the healer. The man had excessively focused on his problem to the extent that he could not even answer a simple question when Jesus-the-healer approached him. The scripture reported,

“When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath” (John 5:6-9).

Lesson:

No one should focus on his or her problem more than God. all people are still challenged to focus on God despite the fact that we may be surrounded with various challenges. God is the solution to any problem that confronts us. He has the power to solve any problem, no matter the magnitude. No one can solve his or her problems by merely examining them; however, a problem can become solved when God is involved. Meanwhile, the indisputable fact is that a problem would appear bigger when we focus on it, but it would appear smaller when we focus on God. Hence, it is a smart approach to focus on God over any circumstance of life!

Prayer:

Dear God, please bless me with grace to focus on you over all matters. Do not let me be obsessed with my problems, but let me be obsessed with you. Give me the grace to trust that you will solve my problems, and you will earn me victory at all times. Instead of pain and suffering, give me joy. Brighten my face with your oil of gladness, and let me spend the rest of my life celebrating your benefits. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.

David’s best friend (Ahithophel) disowned him, and he wanted him dead by all means so that he could be promoted by Absalom. Ahithophel knew David well; he had been his confidant for many years. He knew David’s area of strength and wickedness, and he was ready to trade their friendship to secure a prominent position with Absalom that deposed his father. Meanwhile, David understood the danger that surrounded him. Therefore, he cried to God for help. David asked God to frustrate Ahithophel’s counsels – and that was exactly what God did! Ahithophel’s counsel became irrelevant to Absalom, and he was embarrassed. The traitor was so frustrated to the extent that he took his own life. How amazing God helped a helpless David triumph during his difficult moment!

Bible reported,

“Then someone told David, saying, (A)“Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said, “O Lord, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!” (2 Samuel 15:31).

“So Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The advice of Hushai the Archite is better than the advice of Ahithophel.” For the Lord had purposed to defeat the good advice of Ahithophel, to the intent that the Lord might bring disaster on Absalom” (2 Samuel 17:14).

“Now when Ahithophel saw that his advice was not followed, he saddled a donkey, and arose and went home to his house, to his city. Then he [a]put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and he was buried in his father’s tomb” (2 Samuel 17:23).

Lesson:

Evil people cannot flex their muscles forever, God will deal with them! Since God has the power to arrest anyone, he will surely arrest and reward wicked people accordingly. Meanwhile, children of God that may be undergoing any horror of distrust and disappointment should take heart; God will fight for them, and he will defend them to his satisfaction. However, children of God are encouraged to place their absolute trust in God. Our absolute trust must not be placed in any man or a woman, it must be placed in God. Man is fallible but God is not! Man has traces of imperfections, but God does not have an iota of imperfection. If man disappoints us, God will never disappoint us!

Prayer:

Dear God, please teach me how to trust you in all circumstances of life. Do not let me cast my absolute trust in a fellow human being who is fallible. Let me place my 100% trust in you at all times. Also, let me remain confident that you will defend my interest – even in my absence. You will ensure my safety, and you will not allow the enemies to share your glory in my life. For I have prayed by faith in the name of Jesus Christ your Son, Amen.

Jesus Christ skipped his meal for the sake of preaching the gospel. He considered any opportunity he had to preach the gospel as a treasure, and he maximized it to populate God’s kingdom. When his disciples persuaded him to eat food, Jesus responded,

“I have food to eat of which you do not know.” Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me, and to finish His work” (John 4:32-34).

Lesson:

Children of God ought to set their minds on satisfying God at all times, and at all costs. We should learn from our master Jesus Christ who never traded his ministry for any other desire. He even skipped meals in order to preach the gospel (John 4:32-34): he refrained from casual rest also. Time wait for no one and every child of God should consider every opportunity as the best moment to preach the gospel. There might never be a perfect time to preach the gospel; therefore, every opportunity must be utilized! Every Christian is required to evangelize the good news of Jesus Christ to all people – whether the time is convenient or not! The scripture emphasized the need for preaching the gospel (2 Timothy 4:1-5). God reserves his outpouring blessing for anyone who diligently preaches Christ’s gospel to other people.

Prayer:

Dear God, please empower me to preach the gospel at all times – whether convenient or not. Help me to understand the need for evangelism, and help me to evangelize the gospel to your satisfaction. Anoint me with grace to explain the gospel in a way that will yield positive rewards for your kingdom. As I share the gospel, let unbelievers submit their faith to Jesus Christ and be saved. In addition, please bless me, and let me receive your due reward for obeying your instructions. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
