King Ahab had a huge palace, but he envied Naboth who had a small garden. The greedy and unsatisfied king collaborated with his wife (Jezebel) to kill Naboth. The scripture reported the incident,

“And it came to pass after these things that Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard which was in Jezreel, next to the palace of Ahab king of Samaria. So Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying, “Give me your vineyard, that I may have it for a vegetable garden, because it is near, next to my house; and for it I will give you a vineyard better than it. Or, if it seems good to you, I will give you its worth in money.” But Naboth said to Ahab, “The Lord forbid that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you!” So Ahab went into his house sullen and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, “I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no food. But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said to him, “Why is your spirit so sullen that you eat no food?”…“And she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters to the elders and the nobles who were dwelling in the city with Naboth. She wrote in the letters, saying, proclaim a fast, and seat Naboth with high honor among the people; and seat two men, scoundrels, before him to bear witness against him, saying, “You have blasphemed God and the king.” Then take him out, and stone him, that he may die” (1 Kings 21:1-4,8).

Lesson:

An act of wickedness is evil, and God will punish it. The Creator will punish wicked people, no matter how powerful and influential they are. Unless repented, a wicked person would end up in hell fire – where there shall be everlasting torments. However, the word “wickedness” is not visibly written on anyone’s forehead; most wicked people do not realize who they are unless they have properly assessed themselves. Therefore, it is advisable that all people examine themselves and evaluate their actions. Everyone should have an honest conclusion about whether he or she has engaged in some wicked activities that need repentance. God is loving and forgiving; he will forgive and grant a second chance opportunity to anyone who repents from his or her wickedness.

Prayer:

Dear God, please forgive me for any wicked act that I have involved myself. I am sorry for every evil act that I have committed. I repent from all my wickedness today, and I will never return to them again! I am now determined to do things rightly. I will exercise adequate and impartial judgments; I will not exploit anyone for my selfish gain; I will treat people under my watch fairly and equally. I will be contented with whatever I have, and I will not be envious of others. Help me to be honest in dealing with you and other people, so that it can be well with me throughout the days of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.

A Syrian king and his army underestimated God and believed they could loathe his protective power. After local gods (idols) have failed to earn the Syrians a victory in their battle against Israelites, the Syrians concluded that God who supported Israelites must have been powerful on the hillsides where the battle took place. Therefore, they decided to attack Israelites in the plain land. However, they lost their battle to the Israelites also. The scripture reported,

“Then the servants of the king of Syria said to him, ‘their gods are gods of the hills. Therefore they were stronger than we; but if we fight against them in the plain, surely we will be stronger than they.’” “Then a man of God came and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Because the Syrians have said, “The Lord is God of the hills, but He is not God of the valleys,” therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am the Lord.’” (1 King 20:23; 1 Kings 20:28).

Lesson:

God is not limited in power; anyone who underestimates the power of God would live to regret it. God is omnipotent and omniscient. He is invisible, invincible, and indefatigable! The power of God surpasses any power in existence. God is Jehovah, and he is the Creator. He conceived and created all things to his satisfaction. God owns the right ownership of everything that exists – whether it is discovered or yet to be discovered! God rules the universe, and he is such a powerful being that no one should disrespect him. All creatures must serve God, and everyone must give him due honor at all times.

Prayer:

Dear God, I honor you because you are the King of kings and Lord of lords. Your power is great and your dominion is convincing. I love you, and I owe my allegiance to you. Nothing would make me serve an idol, and nothing would make me compare you to someone else. You are my Lord, my strength, and my confidence. You are my testimony, and you are the reason why I live! My loyalty shall remain with you, and my assurance of salvation through your Son Jesus Christ shall never fail. For I attest my confidence and loyalty to you through your only Son Jesus Christ. Amen!

Youths are encouraged to utilize their fresh knowledge and energy to serve God. An opportunity that any youth has to serve God today may not be available for usage tomorrow. The scripture stated,

“Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, and the years draw near when you say, ‘I have no pleasure in them’” (Ecclesiastes 12:1).

Lesson:

God desires youths to serve him with every opportunity they have. Some opportunities are time-sensitive: A youth who has the strength to serve God today may diminish in strength a few years later. The fresh education, knowledge, and technological intellect that youth has today may become obsolete tomorrow. Therefore, youths must consider serving God now – when they have their best opportunity to do so! However, any youth who fails God at his (or her) flower age may miss God’s original purpose for his life. Worse still, a youngster who fails to realize God’s purpose for his life may regret it in the future. Hence, it is a “Win-Win” situation for any youth to faithfully serve God. The effort will make God happy, and it will transform into a personal blessing and testimony.

Prayer:

Dear God, please let me adequately live my life for you. Help me to devote the early stage of my life to your faithful services. Enable me to utilize my time, energy, knowledge, finances, and other resources for your services. Let me wholly commit my life to you and your services, so that your kingdom can be populated. Please let my services be acceptable before you, and let me receive your overwhelming blessings throughout the days of my life. For in the name of Jesus Christ, I make my requests. Amen.

Paul transformed from a church persecutor to a church preacher. God saved him while he was traveling to persecute Christians. Paul shared his experience,

“I persecuted this Way (Christianity) to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women, as also the high priest bears me witness, and all the council of the elders, from whom I also received letters to the brethren, and went to Damascus to bring in chains even those who were there to Jerusalem to be punished. “Now it happened, as I journeyed and came near Damascus at about noon, suddenly a great light from heaven shone around me. And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?’ So I answered, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said to me, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting” (Acts 22:4-8).

Lesson:

God is ever interested to save any sinner from his sin. He wants a sinner to repent from his sin and accept the salvation offer of his Son Jesus Christ. The salvation of Jesus Christ is precious but free to everyone. Whoever declares comes to Jesus Christ will be saved from his filthiness no matter how terrible it appears. Jesus Christ will repair any damaged life and beautiful it to be suitable for God’s kingdom.

Anyone can come to Jesus Christ to receive his salvation. A person who practices a religion of any kind will be saved when he comes to Jesus Christ – whether he is a Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, traditionalist, or others.

All people must understand that there is no alternative means of obtaining an eternal life other than through confession of faith in Jesus Christ. Anyone who confesses Jesus Christ as Lord will be saved. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

Prayer:

Dear God, I understand that confession of faith in Jesus Christ is the only way of obtaining salvation. Whoever confesses Jesus Christ as Lord will be saved! Therefore, I make my declaration today that I believe in Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God. He died for my sins so that I can be saved. I confess him (Jesus Christ) as my personal Lord and Savior. I will serve him from today and throughout my life. Please give me the strength to serve you unto the end. For in the name of Jesus Christ I prayed! Amen.

No one should consider repentance as an act of cowardice; it is a show of strength and a symbol of humility! People who are humble are those who are not ashamed of their sins to repent from them. People who repent from their sins are those who are courageous. They prove honesty and display their total dependence on God to help them overcome future temptations. One prophet in the bible is an example of this. He confessed his progressive standing with God and declared his hope for a victorious future. The prophet stated,

“Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; when I fall, I will arise; when I sit in darkness, The Lord will be a light to me. I will bear the indignation of the Lord, because I have sinned against Him, Until He pleads my case and executes justice for me. He will bring me forth to the light; I will see His righteousness” (Micah 7:8-9).

Lesson:

True humility touches the heart of God. He loves those who are humble enough to confess their sins and repent from them. Meanwhile, God hates people who stubbornly hold on to their sins. The scripture emphasized, “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (James 4:6). Therefore, children of God must understand the meaning of repentance and exercise it. A believer who drifted into sin should repent from it so that he or she can receive God’s forgiveness and restoration.

Prayer:

Dear God, I am a sinner, and I am very sorry for my sins. I understand you are a loving and forgiving God; therefore, I ask for your forgiveness. Please forgive my past sins and restore me to the joy of your salvation! Empower me through your Holy Spirit to live a pure and acceptable life before you so that I can qualify for your eternal kingdom. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.

The church at Jerusalem held a conference to determine whether they should exempt non-Jewish Christians from observing Jewish tradition. The conference concluded that it is only essential for Christians to serve God in the liberty of their spirit to prevent inhibition of the gospel. The Church elders wrote a letter to Paul as quoted,

“…But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written and decided that they should observe no such thing, except that they should keep themselves from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality” (Acts 21:25).

Lesson:

Non-Jewish Christians and Jewish Christians are the same people in the sight of the Lord. There is no segregation with God! However, a Christian of any background must obey God’s laws. We must engage in praiseworthy activities – that glorify God’s name at all times.

No Christian should substitute God’s law for his tradition. A tradition may motivate us into morality, but it does not equate to God’s standard of holiness. In short, human tradition is not God’s law! Therefore, each Christian must duly study his or her bible to understand God’s requirements. We must abide by the word of God. (We must practice it). Christians who obey God to the letter will receive his benefits. God will bless us richly if we obey his laws and faithfully serve him.

Prayer:

Dear God, I have learned that human tradition is different from your standard of holiness. Therefore, I ask you to please save me from any tradition that can make me compromise your holiness standard. Enable me to commit myself to studying your word so that I can live an acceptable life before you. Please help me to remain fit for your eternal kingdom. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.

Bible assures Christians that they will soon escape the present world crises to be stationed in heaven to enjoy their everlasting benefits.

Bible assures Christians that they will soon escape the present world crises to be stationed in heaven to enjoy their everlasting benefits. The scripture assures believers,

“He (God) will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. Everyone will sit under their own vine and under their own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the Lord Almighty has spoken” (Micah 4:3-4).

Lesson:

A Christian may undergo some challenges on earth, but they will not be permanent. Suffering will come to an end for people who have confessed Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Once believers get to heaven, we shall have perfect peace that has no traces of sorrow! God’s children will drink from a peaceful river that flows from the heart of God.

Christians must hold on to their confession of faith in Jesus Christ since the price to receive is great! We must remain consistent with God and endure our temporal afflictions since they will soon come to an end. The reward of our steadfastness will be great in heaven. God will wipe tears off our faces and bless us tremendously.

Prayer:

Dear God, I love you more than silver and gold. I love you more than my afflictions. My goal is to make heaven at the end of my earthly journey; therefore I pray that you give me the grace to remain steadfast with you. Help me to keep my testimony as a child of God. Do not let me compromise my stand and do not let me desist from serving you. Help me to faithfully serve you unto the end so that I can enter your rest to enjoy everlasting peace in heaven. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.

Saul was on a mission to persecute Christians in Damascus, but he became a Christian along the way. The scripture reported,

“As he (Saul) journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads” (Acts 9:1-6).

The encounter changed Saul’s life and he became a child of God. Since then, he faithfully preached the gospel of Jesus Christ in both near and distant countries.

Lesson:

God gives an opportunity of repentance to people, and he does not write off anyone. Since Jesus Christ died for both loving and wicked people at the same time, he will keep everyone on his radar so that he can save them. Anyone who responds to Jesus’ offer of salvation would be raptured at the last day, and they would be with him in heaven. However, all Christians are required to pray and preach to sinners, so that God can utilize their efforts as tools of salvation.

Prayer:

Dear Jesus Christ, please save people throughout the world. Touch their hearts to realize that you have died for their sins. Let them respond to you and be saved. Let all people – irrespective of their religion, ethnicity, and culture – accept you as the Son of God. Let them confess you as their personal Lord and Savior so that they can be accepted to heaven. Also, I ask you to please empower your servants throughout the world to preach your undiluted gospel that would convert sinners into genuine repentance. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.

This present world is temporal; everything the world contains is temporal also. All the material wealth of this world are corruptible, and they will soon perish. A wise preacher in the bible stated,

“I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind” (Eccl 1:14).

Lesson:

The present world that hosts humanity is meant to exist temporarily. All the material wealth that people acquire here on earth are corruptible and they will not last forever. However, God will furnish new heaven and new earth for his saints, which are meant to exist permanently (Revelation 21:1-4). The beauty and riches of God’s new paradise will abide forever. Moreover, God will disallow unrepentant sinners from entering his beautiful kingdom. He will send them to hellfire that will remain a permanent home for Satan and all his followers (Matthew 25:41). (Anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and repents from his sin is considered a saint of God – and is meant to enter heaven).

Prayer:

Dear God, I realize that this present world and all it contains are vanities. They are perishable and they will vanish someday; therefore, I have decided to preserve my treasures where they will not corrupt. I am determined to give my life to Jesus Christ! Today, I (mention your name) state my faith declaration thus:

I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; he died for my sins so that I can have eternal life. I confess my sins of (mention the sins you as can remember). I also confess every unknown sin. I repent from all my sins, and I give my complete life unto Jesus Christ. As from today, I will faithfully follow Jesus Christ, and I will serve him for the rest of my life. Also, since I have become a child of God, I will share my salvation experience with other people. May God help me so. Amen!
