another mini EV. roughly s-presso sized, just a bit wider. 5 doors! and isn't a glorified gold kart i.e. motor isn't bolted to the rear axle. it drives the front wheels through CV shafts so the ride quality should be much better than the other minis (changan lumin is FWD as well but is a 3dr)

another interesting thing. the battery isn't a flat thing at the bottom that's just just waiting to be damaged :twak2: instead is a boxy box where the fuel tank usually is. it's probably a lot safer in there

P668k less 20k discount

Lately, I've been seeing a number of ads in my Feeds about a certain aftermarket high-CFM auxiliary fan being sold either as an upgrade to the OE aux fans or as a bolt-on to complement vehicles with traditional belt-driven fans. My first reaction was, these fans make a lot of noise and seems overkill.

But then I recalled this video from 2023 about "stalled" cars going to Baguio in bumper-to-bumper traffic (credit to its owner): https://www.facebook.com/share/v/19arRvX9LR/

Based on the video and despite what the owner is saying, it's not perfectly conclusive whether or not every car shown on the side of the road suffered from overheating.... BUT, it does look like it at face value (hood's up, some people tinkering in the vicinity of the radiator, etc.). Whether that's wholly or partly true, I want to hear your take on it.

I've always believed that most modern cars are designed to operate in virtually any conditions. My hypothesis however, is that the high elevation, and hence lower air pressure and density, has a lot to do with it. Less air molecules makes the cooling system struggle to shed heat. So maybe those aftermarket aux fans CAN help under these conditions.

Planning to get another hybrid next year (to replace our Honda City)

(As of today) Presently looking at the Yaris Cross HEV and the Sealion 6

Price: ₱ 1,610,000 vs ₱ 1,548,000
- Yaris Cross is 62K more expensive.
There's word that Toyota has heavily discounted the Yaris Cross, but I haven't contacted our agent to confirm this as next year pa namin plan bumili.

Yaris Cross (AC200) uses the DNGA-B Platform
Sealion 6 (aka Song Plus) uses the DM-i 5.0 Platform

Big plus na plug-in hybrid ang Sealion 6 - pero we live in a condo and we can't install a charger in our parking slot.

Based on my research - if you don't plug the Sealion 6, owners are reporting to get around 20km/l (around 14-17km/l yung Zenix namin and I'm hoping na di lalayo gaano yung Yaris Cross)

With the Yaris Cross - it may NOT have the same Toyota reliability, pero you get that Toyota badge, local support and parts availability.

Not sure how the Ayala's will handle BYD in the future. I'm happy with our Honda (and Honda Makati) pero I've heard horror stories from Kia and VW owners.

Having been inside both cars.

Sealion 6 has a better interior. Pero it was the same feeling and observation I had when the Coolray and Territory were new.

Yaris Cross is way smaller.

Sealion 6 accelerates better compared to the Yaris Cross (that uses a CVT).

***

Honestly, if the Yaris Cross was priced at 1.4M, the decision would have been easier.
