<gallery#1>For the 94th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the legendary endurance attracted a capacity grid of 62 cars. The majority of these were FIA World Endurance Championship regulars, complemented by 19 LMP2 cars. Additionally there were several entries, who had earned an automatic spot on the grid by their performance in other championships like the European Le Mans Series and IMSA. While most cars in 2026 race were familiar, the Genesis GMR-001 made its debut. The arrival of Hyundai's luxury brand marked the very first Le Mans entry for a South Korean car. It could build on a wealth of experience as it combined an Oreca-built chassis with a V8 derived from the multiple World Rally Championship winning four-cylinder engine and hugely talented drivers like Pipo Derani and Andre Lotterer. They filled the place left vacant by Porsche Team Penske, who decided to focus on IMSA from the 2026 season onwards.
Making his annual pilgrimage to La Sarthe, Bob van der Wolf captured all the action for us in this <link#1>70-shot gallery.
<gallery#1>First held in 1964, the Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or is one of the oldest historic racing meetings still in existence today. Although originally held at the Rouen-Les-Essarts circuit as a support race for the French Grand Prix, it has now found its long-term home at the Circuit Dijon-Prenois. Part of the Peter Auto roster of events since 2014, it served as the third round of the newly re-named Le Mans Classic Series in 2026. As had been the case at previous editions, only a select number of the Peter Auto grids were part of the Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or roster. The nature of the track is not particularly suited to the most modern cars, so the Group C and Endurance Racing Legends were not part of the event. Joining the fun for the first time in 2026 was the Classic Touring Challenge for pre-1966 touring cars like Alfa Romeo GTAs, Lotus Cortinas and Ford Mustangs. This made it three touring grids with the Heritage Touring Cup now split in two to accommodate for a Group A only field. In addition to the races, there was also a daily demons ...

<gallery#1>The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is famous for many things, perhaps above all for the changeable conditions; it can rain at one end while the sun is out at another, and it is not unknown for one weekend of racing to feature all four seasons. There was nothing of the sort, however, during the 2026 edition of the Spa Classic. Instead, one of the flagship events of the recently renamed Le Mans Classic Series was held under beautiful and very pleasant conditions throughout. This gave the competitors on the nine different grids the opportunity to enjoy the intricacies of the Spa-Francorchamps to the fullest. A set fixture on the Peter Auto calendar for over a decade, this year's edition saw some changes with the introduction of two new grids; the Heritage Touring Cup 2 for Group A touring cars and the GT3 Revival for GT3 cars homologated between 2006 and 2013.
Our photographers enjoyed a lovely weekend in the Ardennes and also captured the 2026 Spa Classic in its entirety. The result is this <link#1>class-by-class, 200-shot gallery</a ...

<gallery#1>Had the Circuit de Monaco been located anywhere else, it would have long been deemed unsuitable as a venue for a Formula 1 World Championship Grand Prix. Many of the tight and twisty public roads used for the circuit have a 30 or 50 km/h speed limit for good reason on any other day, yet the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix has been a set fixture in the World Championship since its inception in 1950. In fact, the roads of the Principality were used for a Grand Prix for the first time in 1929. This long and rich heritage has been celebrated biennially from the late 1990s with the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique that uses the same roads as the World Championship scheduled a few weeks later. The event features eight different grids, split by age and covering the period 1929 through to 1985. New for the 2026 edition was the highly anticipated addition of turbo-engined cars to the final grid. During the lunch-breaks, the Ferrari Corse Clienti run Grand Prix cars were demonstrated. The session was preceded every day by Jacky Ickx, ...

<gallery#1>One of the traditional season kick-off events, the Goodwood Members' Meeting is well established on the historic motorsport calendar. While it uses the Goodwood Motor Circuit, which has been preserved in its 1960s state, this event does not have the strict cut-off dates of the annual Revival Meeting. This has opened the door to a whole different breed of competition cars both young and very old. Set fixtures of the Members' Meeting are the S.F. Edge Trophy for cars that are at least 100 years old but also Group 1 touring cars from the 1970s and early 1980s. Among the further highlights were races for 1960s sports and GT cars and a one-make Jaguar E-Type race. In addition to the races there were also special parades celebrating the Super Touring Era and 50 years of James Hunt's World Championship victory. Lanzante also demonstrated their upcoming 95-59 hypercar and all three Brawn GP cars were brought together for the first time since 2009.
<gallery#1>With the 2026 Espiritu de Montjuic, the European historic racing season kicked off with a great spectacle. Organised by the French Peter Auto organisation, it also served as the first of six rounds of the newly named Le Mans Classic Series. While the a new name was introduced to unify the Peter Auto events, the grids that made up this year's Espiritu de Montjuic were all carried over from the Historic Racing by Peter Auto events of the past. As before these brought out sports racers and touring cars from the early 1950s right through the Endurance Racing Legends of the noughties.
During the event local hero Emilio de Villota was also honoured. Brought together were three Grand Prix cars he raced during his career, which included the unique Lyncar 006 that is still part of his personal collection and the Lotus Type 78, which he used to score his biggest successes. The lunch breaks were used for F1 demonstrations and the spectators were treated to a pair of glorious Matras and a Benetton liveried and turbo-engine ...

<gallery#1>The annual Retromobile show in Paris celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. Bucking the trend, the world's premier classic car show was once again packed with exhibitors from all around the world, which filled all three floors of the freshly refurbished Hall 7. In addition to the stands from traditional classic car dealers, major manufacturers, a variety of vendors, there were also special displays from the Schlumpf Museum, BMW Art Cars and rally cars from the Macaluso collection, while the heavily refurbished Le Mans museum was launched and the 2026 historic racing programs were officially announced. On the first floor of Hall 7, Gooding Christie's staged the official Retrombile auction. Additionally, there were three other major auctions in and around Paris during the Retromobile week.
Our photographers explored every corner of the Porte de Versailles exhibition centre Hall 7 for the better part of two days to capture all the highlights with this <link#1>240-shot gallery as the very tangible result.
<gallery#1>For the sixth straight year, the Estoril Classics was the season finale for the Historic Racing by Peter Auto season. As always, the 2025 edition was organised by the French organisation together with local specialists Race Ready. The packed programme featured seven familiar Peter Auto grids ranging from the Gentlemen Challenge for 1950s and early 1960s sports racers to the Classic Endurance Racing 2 field for 1970s and very early 1980s sports cars and GTs. For many of the grids the championship was also still up for grabs, which added an extra layer of excitement to the individual races. The undulating Portuguese track is still best remembered as the scene of Ayrton Senna's first Grand Prix win, in 1985 aboard a JPS Lotus in absolutely horrendous conditions. It was only fitting that one of the additional races during the 2025 Estoril Classics was for the three-litre Formula 1 cars. Race Ready's own Iberian Challenge served as the finale of the weekend.
Our photographers travelled south to enjoy a lovely final few days of summer ...
