Ferrari 296 GT M, Bovensiepen Spider and BRM P351 reborn ...

At the Ferrari Racing Days on the Hungaroring, the Italian manufacturer revealed the 296 GT Modificata. Based on the successful GT3 racer, the 296 GT M is a track-only model that can be used in the Ferrari Club Competizione GT events. Not beholden to any regulations, the 296 GT Modificata is fitted with an unrestricted version of the twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 720 bhp. The 2027 calendar for the Club Competizione GT includes seven events at tracks around the world like Fuji, Indianapolis and Spa Francorchamps.
The latest creation from the newly founded Bovensiepen brand is this Spider. Limited to 99 examples, it is based on the outgoing Z4. Modifications are subtle but include tweaks to the engine, suspension and exterior. Deliveries of the first Bovensiepen Spiders will start at the end of the first quarter of 2027.
An epilogue of the BRM story is this P351 Group C racer. Built to the second generation Group C regulations, it combined a carbon-fibre composite monocoque with a 3.5-litre V12 engine. It was raced briefly in 1992 and then later in the decade as an LMP racer, powered by a Nissan V6 engine. The one-off P351 has more recently been re-acquired by BRM and has been completely restored to its original configuration. Fascinatingly, BRM has plans to once again race the car.

With the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung, Mercedes-AMG created the second model in the limited production Mythos line-up after the PureSpeed. German for custom made, Spezialanfertigung is based on the Mercedes-AMG CLE but instead of the straight-six engine of the regular production model, this version is powered by the M177 EVO twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 646 metric horsepower. This power is sent to the rear wheels only through a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung also features a much improved and lighter chassis and modified body kit that generates 250 kg of downforce at the 310 km/h top speed. Production is strictly limited to just 10 examples world wide and as so often the case with these very special models, they had already been spoken for before the Spezialanfertigung was officially announced.
Legendary Dutch brand Spyker was brought back from the dead during the early 2000s and has laid dormant for the last decade. With the C8 Preliator XXV, the company has risen from the ashes once again. This is thanks to boundless enthusiasm of current custodian of the brand Victor Muller and a fresh injection of cash from crypto billionaire Volodymyr Nosov. An evolution of the Preliator revealed several years ago, the new and still very analogue C8 Preliator XXV is once again built around an aluminium body and chassis, and combines an 800 hp V8 with a six-speed manual gearbox.

Jensen International has revived the Interceptor with this track-only Interceptor GTX. It is a first sign of what is to come with a street-legal GTR and more luxurious GT due to follow in the near future. While little is disclosed on the road-going versions, the Interceptor GTX will be powered by a supercharged V8 that is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. The Chevrolet LT-based engine is sourced from Late Model Engines in the United States and produces 960 bhp. The potent drivetrain is mounted in a bespoke bonded aluminium space frame chassis.
The wraps finally came off the Lamborghini Revuelto SV. True to the SV moniker, it is a more hardcore version of the Revuelto. While the drivetrain remains unchanged, updates to the chassis and aerodynamics improved the performance sufficiently for the Revuelto SV to set the fastest ever lap time for a production car around the Hockenheimring.

Earlier this year, we visited the Grand Prix de France Historique for the first time. Staged by HVM Racing since 2017, it has grown out to be one of the most popular annual motorsport events in France. This is thanks to a unique mix of races and demonstrations. The competitive action this year included a plethora of single seater grids headlined by the Masters Racing Legends for pre-1986 Grand Prix cars and also sports car that included Group C and more recent Le Mans Prototypes. A major attraction is the Fast and Famous demonstration that sees legendary drivers from the past and the present demonstrate classic Grand Prix cars. Among the drivers in action during the 2026 edition were the likes of Mika Häkkinen, Jacques Villeneuve and local hero Alain Prost. Some drove their original cars like Prost, while others were seen out driving other significant cars like Villenueve, who demonstrated the very Ferrari 312 T5 that his father Gilles had raced in period.

Although the dust on the record breaking Monterey auctions has yet to settle, it is already time to look ahead. For the upcoming Zoute Sale, Broad Arrow Auctions have consigned a pair of mid-2010s hybrid hypercars from the same, Belgian collection. Leading the way is this Ferrari LaFerrari with a pre-sale estimate of €4 - €5 million. It was delivered new to Belgium and was used regularly by its original owner. Since chassis 208220 was acquired by the current owner, it has been used more sparingly. The same can be said of the McLaren P1 that is offered from the same collection. According to the description, it has been driven regularly but only for short distances. With 293 km on the odometer, serial number 352 should find a new owner for €1.4 - €1.8 million.
Gooding Christie's have already announced a very early consignment for next year's Retromobile sale; this Frazer Nash High Speed. Among the most significant cars produced by the British sports car manufacturer, this car's debut performance at Le Mans in 1949 gave the subsequent Le Mans Replica its name. Raced extensively for close to two decades, chassis 008 has been in single family ownership since the early 1960s and has only had two private owners.

One of the stars of the recent Le Mans Classic Legend was this Ferrari 512 BB Competizione. It was one of three cars built for prominent Ferrari privateers to compete in the 1978 24 Hours of Le Mans. Hastily put together, it even featured the front wing of a contemporary Ferrari Grand Prix car as a rear wing. Chassis 24131 was raced only once and retired from the class lead in the 19th hour. From the early 1980s, it was part of the collection of infamous collector Walter Medlin. Acquired by the current custodian in highly original condition three years ago, it received a sympathetic restoration before it returned to the track this summer.
Another car that returned to Le Mans was this Porsche 962C. By number, this was the very last of the legendary 962 racers. It was raced at Le Mans to tenth overall in the legendary FAT International colours in 1991. Only raced twice more, 962-177 was later displayed in the Schlumpf museum before the very last 962C was acquired at auction by the current owner.
The latest addition to the Porsche Motorsport line-up is this 911 Challenge launched today. Based on the 911 GT3 road car, it is a new entry level single marque racer. The 911 Challenge will be eligible for a variety of one-make series around the world from the 2027 season onward.
