The Wells Fargo Championship, known in 2009 and 2010 as the Quail Hollow Championship, is a PGA Tour golf tournament. The event is held at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina in early May. It was first played in 2003 as the Wachovia Championship and has attracted some of the top players on the tour. In 2009, the tournament had a $6.5 million purse with a winner's prize of $1.17 million.

From 2004–06, the tournament ended in a playoff. Additionally, the event is known to have one of the tougher finishes on tour with 16, 17, and 18, commonly known as the "Green Mile", often ranked among the PGA Tour's toughest holes. The majority of the charitable proceeds from the tournament benefit Teach for America.

The Nationwide Tour is the developmental tour for the U.S.-based PGA Tour, and features professional golfers who have either failed to score well enough at that level's Qualifying School (the main tour's qualifying tournament, popularly referred to as "Q-School") to earn their PGA Tour card, or who have done so but then failed to win enough money to stay at that level. Those who are on the top 25 of the money list at year's end are given PGA Tour memberships for the next season.

The week after the Masters usually means a trip to Hilton Head for the PGA Tour. But, with a 2011 schedule change, the Tour instead tees it up in San Antonio this week for the playing of the Valero Texas Open at TPC of Antonio's AT&T Oaks Course. A world-class field is on hand, including defending champion Adam Scott, Texas legend and former three-time champ Justin Leonard and Anthony Kim, just to name a few. The European Tour of Golf is Europes tournament besides the US PGA tour.

The Africa Open is a golf tournament on the Sunshine Tour that was first contested in February 2008, over the Gary Player designed championship course at the Fish River Sun Country Club, near Port Alfred, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

In order to increase the profile of the tournament, since 2009 it has been held in January at the East London Golf Club in East London. In 2009, the Africa Open had a prize fund of R5 million, over four times that of the inaugural event. The Sunshine Tour hoped that it would attract a stronger field as a result, and possibly lead to a co-sanctioning agreement with the European Tour in subsequent years.

In October 2009, it was announced that the Africa Open would be included on the 2010 European Tour schedule. It was the third event of the four tournament South African swing of the tour, held after the Alfred Dunhill Championship and the South African Open, and the week before the Joburg Open. The purse for 2011 was €1,000,000.

As such, the Tournament of Champions does not directly control the dozens of other national tournaments which occur weekly across the United States. The Chevron World Challenge is an offseason golf tournament hosted by Tiger Woods, which takes place each December at Sherwood Country Club, a course designed by Jack Nicklaus, in Thousand Oaks, California. In its first year, 1999, it was played at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Previously the 16 man field was composed of the defending champion, the top eleven available players from the Official World Golf Rankings, and four sponsors exemptions chosen by the Tiger Woods Foundation. It is not an official money tournament on any of the professional golf tours, but is recognised as an unofficial money event by the PGA Tour. Since 2009, the event offers Official World Golf Ranking points. The field increased to 18 players including the current four major winners, the top 11 available from the Official World Golf Rankings, the Defending Champion, and two special exemption players selected by the Tiger Woods Foundation.

The tournament was established as a charity fundraiser by Woods, and all the charitable funds raised go to charities with which he is associated. It is nonetheless an extremely lucrative event for the professionals who take part. In 2007 the prize fund was $5.75 million. This is similar to many official PGA Tour events, but they usually have fields of around 150, as opposed to only 18. The first prize is $1.35 million, and last place is $170,000. Woods usually donates his prize money to his Tiger Woods Foundation.

The Frys.com Open is a PGA Tour Fall Series golf tournament. First staged in 2007 as the Fry's Electronics Open at Grayhawk Golf Club's Raptor Course in Scottsdale, Arizona, it adopted its current name in 2008, and moved to CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, California effective in 2010. The Tour Championship (typeset as THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola) was historically the final event of golf's PGA Tour season. Since 2007, it has been the final event of the FedEx Cup, the competition for the first official championship trophy for the PGA Tour season. From 1987 to 1996, several courses hosted the event. Beginning in 1997, the event alternated between Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas and East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia; since 2004, East Lake has been the event's permanent home. The greens at East Lake were redone with MiniVerde bermuda grass (replacing heat prone bentgrass) in 2009. It is one of the richest tournaments on the tour.

The Wyndham Championship is a regular golf tournament on the PGA Tour. It is played annually in Greensboro, North Carolina, U.S. and was originally called the Greater Greensboro Open. In 2007, the event was renamed the Wyndham Championship when Wyndham Hotels & Resorts took over from DaimlerChrysler as main sponsor. It moved from an autumn date to mid-August and is the last PGA Tour event before the Playoffs for the FedEx Cup.

The 2009 purse was $5,100,000, with $918,000 going to the winner. The tournament was founded in 1938 as the Greater Greensboro Open. This tournament was usually contested in April or May, until a schedule change in 2003 which moved the tournament toward the end of the season. Sam Snead set a PGA Tour record for his 8 wins at the event, as well as his 1965 event, which made him the oldest player to win a PGA Tour event (both records still stand).

The event has been played in Greensboro for its entire history. In its first 4 years, it was played at both Sedgefield Country Club and Starmount Forest Country Club, and shifted to solely Starmount Forest CC in 1942 and for the first time it was played after World War II in 1945. Starting with that 1945 event, it alternated between Starmount Forest CC and Sedgefield CC until 1952, when Starmount Forest CC hosted for a 2nd year in a row. It returned to Sedgefield CC in 1953 before Starmount Forest CC hosted 3 consecutive years (through 1956). Sedgefield CC hosted in 1957 before Starmount Forest CC hosted another 3 straight 1958-60. From 1961 to 1976, it was played at Sedgefield CC. From 1977 to 2007, Forest Oaks Country Club hosted the event. In 2008, the tournament returned to Sedgefield CC.

In 2001, Mark Brazil was hired as the new Tournament Director. Brazil previously spent years working at the American Junior Golf Association

The Turning Stone Resort Championship is a PGA Tour professional golf tournament. It was played for the first time September 20-23, 2007. It is hosted by the Atunyote Golf Club at Turning Stone Resort & Casino, in Verona in Upstate New York. In 2007, it was the first of the seven Fall Series events played after the conclusion of the FedEx Cup, which was also introduced the same year. The prize fund was $6 million. The tournament's timing in the PGA Tour calendar changed in 2008. The 2008 Fall Series began before the conclusion of the FedEx Cup with the Viking Classic. After the Fall Series took a week off for The Tour Championship, it resumed with the Turning Stone Championship. The U.S. Senior Open is one of the major championships in men's senior golf. It was first played in 1980 and is administered by the United States Golf Association (USGA) and is recognised as a major championship by both the Champions Tour and the European Seniors Tour. Initially the lower age limit was 55, but it is now 50, which is the standard limit for men's senior professional golf tournaments. The event is open to amateurs but it is dominated by professionals. Allen Doyle became the oldest U.S. Senior Open Champion in 2006, winning two weeks before his 58th birthday. The RBC Canadian Open is a golf tournament which was founded in 1904 by the Royal Canadian Golf Association. It has been played annually ever since, excepting some years during World War I and World War II.

As a national open, and especially as the most accessible non-U.S. national open for American golfers, the event had a special status in the era before the professional tour system became dominant in golf. In the interwar years it was sometimes considered the third most prestigious tournament in the sport, after The Open Championship and the U.S. Open. This previous status was noted in the media in 2000, when Tiger Woods became the first man to win The Triple Crown (all three Opens in the same season) since Lee Trevino in 1971. Nonetheless, this special status has largely dissipated, but the Canadian Open remains a well-regarded fixture on the PGA Tour.

A limited number of entries are allocated to players of the Canadian Tour; however, prize money won at the Canadian Open does not count towards the Canadian Tour money list.

Celebrated golfers who have won the tournament include: Walter Hagen, Tommy Armour, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Bobby Locke, Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Greg Norman and Tiger Woods. The Canadian Open is regarded as the most prestigious tournament never won by the great Jack Nicklaus, a seven-time runner-up. Leo Diegel has the most titles with four.

In the early 2000s, the tournament was held in mid-September. Seeking to change this, Golf Canada lobbied for a summer date. When the Tour schedule was revamped in 2007, the tournament was rescheduled for July, albeit sandwiched between three events with even higher profiles (The Open Championship the week prior, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational the week after, and the PGA Championship the week after that). A further tweaking of the schedule in 2009 saw the Canadian Open receive a slightly more favourable date; while it is still held the week after the Open Championship, it now is two weeks before the Bridgestone Invitational. Still, the tournament counts towards the FedEx Cup standings.

Glen Abbey Golf Course has hosted the most Canadian Opens, with 25 to date. Glen Abbey was designed in 1976 by Jack Nicklaus for the Royal Canadian Golf Association, to serve as the permanent home for the championship from 1977, with occasional visits to other clubs. From the mid-1990s, the RCGA decided to move the championship around the country. Royal Montreal Golf Club, home of the first Open in 1904, ranks second with nine times hosted. Mississaugua Golf & Country Club has hosted six Opens, Toronto Golf Club and St. George's Golf and Country Club have each hosted five Opens, and three clubs have each hosted four Opens: Lambton Golf Club, Hamilton Golf and Country Club, and Scarboro Golf Club. The championship has for the most part been held in Ontario and Quebec, the two most populous Canadian provinces. Ontario and Quebec have seen all but eight Opens. New Brunswick had the Open in 1939, Manitoba in 1952 and 1961, Alberta in 1958, and British Columbia in 1948, 1954, 1966, and 2005.

The Open will return to Vancouver's Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club for 2011, and to Hamilton Golf and Country Club for 2012.

All of the players are now in California ready for the 2010 US Open which will get underway tomorrow at the brilliant Pebble Beach Golf links. It looks like one of the most open Majors in years with any number of players in great form and hungry for success. Tiger Woods will be as always the main attraction when he tees-off for his first round as he aims for his 15th Golf Major.

The 2010 US Open will be played at the world famous Pebble Beach Golf Links in California starting on Thursday morning.
