RE[9]: Is form G-325A still needed?

Thanks for the clarification on form G-325A! Since I'm also preparing for a renewal, I've been extra cautious about where I share my biographic data. I recently came across this technical compliance review at https://guiadeh2betbrasil.com/ which discusses Brazilian federal licenses and CNPJ verification. It got me thinking—when we are looking for official US immigration updates, how can we stay safe from unofficial mirrors? If a site has this level of transparency regarding its legal entity and SPA/MF licensing, is that a reliable green flag for security, or should we strictly stick to .gov domains even for general community advice?

Quick note.

We are reviewing keyword availability in multiple industries this week. Once a business locks in a phrase, it's gone.

If there are 2–3 search terms that matter most to you, now is the time.

I received a boarder crossing card in 1996 and it had no expiration date, unfortunately I lost the card. I am now trying to have this card replaced. I filed an I-192 but did not need it because I don't have a criminal record. I have since been denied entry because I was not in position of my boarder crossing card. The nightmare of an officer entering misinformation at a boarder is unbelievable. Does anyone know how I can get form I-185 which is what they say I need

I understand that given I am applying for an L2, there is a higher chance that they won't decline me for the waiver recommendation. I've also got a waiver before in 2023 for a B1/B2. I know those don't determine my outcome but it gives me hope. The main thing for me is the wait of a year which is mad, especially when my wife is going out initially on the L1 so we will be apart for a year. I'd rather just know now if I'm not going to be able to go - I know this is a feeling a lot of people have here.

RE[1]: Social Media Submission

My research says "no". But I am open to discussion on this if I am wrong. On the waiver forms (which expire 03/31/2027) there is no part that asks for any of this information. But below is what I found online.

No, an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) does not apply to Canadian citizens. Canadians are not part of the Visa Waiver Program and do not need to apply for an ESTA to visit the United States by air, land, or sea. They generally only need to present a valid Canadian passport or a WHTI-compliant document.

Exceptions: If you are a Canadian permanent resident (not a citizen), you may require a visa. Additionally, Canadians with criminal records, including DUIs, or those who have been previously removed from the U.S. may need to satisfy other requirements.

CITIZENSHIP CANCELLED FOR PEOPLE FORM SOME COUNTRIES BY TRUMP

When she read the news, Grace felt like she was falling.

The 37-year-old oncologist had studied hard. And she’d sailed through her US citizenship interview. She thought just one step remained.

“Be on the lookout in the mail,” a US Citizenship and Immigration Services officer told her that day in September, she says. “You’ll get a notice to come for a ceremony.”

But instead, a few months later a government portal delivered a devastating update: “Oath ceremony cancelled.”

In an instant, the solid, American ground where she’d spent more than a decade building a career and life for her family seemed to disappear.

“It was like, ‘Oh my God, we’re in a free fall,’” Grace says. “We don’t know where we’re going to land.”

Grace is among a growing group of would-be Americans whose cases are now in limbo after the Trump administration indefinitely froze citizenship decisions for applicants from certain countries it deems “high-risk.” The pause also applies to applications for green cards and visas from nationals of those countries, which the Trump administration says “demonstrate significant deficiencies in screening, vetting and information sharing.”

CNN spoke with people across the US — in states including Washington, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Arizona and Massachusetts — who’ve been impacted by the sudden policy change, which critics decry as a move that punishes immigrants who follow the rules.

“I feel like it’s not very fair to be in this situation, because we worked really hard,” Grace says. The cancer doctor is originally from Africa and now lives in the Southern US. She asked to be identified by a pseudonym and that CNN not show her face, specify where she was born or reveal where she lives now because she fears she will be targeted for speaking out.

Immigrant advocates say cancelled citizenship interviews and oath ceremonies underscore deep concerns that even as the administration draws attention for its aggressive crackdown on illegal immigration, its quieter efforts to curtail legal immigration into the country are also intensifying.

“These are people that have been highly vetted already, so it doesn’t make any policy sense,” says Greg Chen, senior director of government relations for the American Immigration Lawyers Association, which is tracking cancellation reports across the US.

Officials say the freeze is part of ‘rigorous screening and vetting’
Advocacy organizations and immigration lawyers say they first started seeing citizenship oath ceremony and interview cancellations late last year. In some instances, they say, officials notified people days before they’d been scheduled to take the oath, or pulled them out of line as they were heading into naturalization ceremonies.

Many of those with cancelled citizenship interviews and oath ceremonies are from the 39 countries listed in two travel ban proclamations President Donald Trump signed in June and December last year, according to advocates.

The majority of those countries are in Africa. Several are in Asia, the Middle East and South America.

Millions of travelers could skip visiting the US if proposed social media policy is implemented

Ahead of a proposed rule change that would require social media account information from some foreign travelers to the United States, international travel experts are saying the policy could further deter visitors from coming to the US — a decline that could translate into billions of dollars in lost revenue for the travel sector.

The warning — from the World Travel & Tourism Council — comes after the global industry group surveyed nearly 5,000 international residents who regularly travel abroad and found one-third of respondents would be somewhat or much less likely to visit the US if applicants to the Visa Waiver Program are required to submit information about their social media accounts.

The potential decline in travelers could cost the US an estimated $15.7 billion in lost visitor spending, according to WTTC. Under one scenario, the US could miss out on as many as 4.7 million international arrivals, which would represent a 23% drop in visitors from ESTA countries in 2026.

Gloria Guevara, president of WTTC, told CNN the proposed change could cost the US more than 150,000 jobs and “put the US at a competitive disadvantage.”

The travelers affected have other destination options, she said in an interview on CNN International’s “Quest Means Business,” and they consider the request for social media account information “intrusive.”

“There are so many places to travel, and the ESTA travelers will choose another destination,” she said. “We will see a decline and the decline is translated into jobs.”

Last year was a banner year in travel globally, she noted; countries all around the world saw increases in the number of visitors.

“That was not the case for the US,” she said.

Two-thirds of the 4,563 travelers surveyed – who hail from Australia, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom, among other countries – said they were aware of the proposed policy already. And a large share of them said it would make the US feel less welcoming and less attractive for both leisure and business travel, according to the WTTC survey results.

Travel to the United States (from Canada) declines for the 12th straight month

According to Statistics Canada, the number of Canadians traveling back to Canada by car from the United States dropped year-over-year for the twelfth straight month. Just 1.3 million Canadians returned by car in December 2025, which the agency noted was a “steep decline” of 30.7% compared to the same month in 2024.

Expect Pardons to take longer - Posted January 28 2026

We stay in contact with the Parole Board of Canada, and they told us to expect pardons with indictable offences to take longer. This is due to budget cuts.

The Parole Board of Canada (PBC) is implementing spending reductions as part of a broader government commitment, with planned cuts of $1.19 million in 2024-25, $1.79 million in 2025-26, and $2.62 million annually from 2026-27 onward. These measures aim to modernize operations and increase efficiency, with a focus on integrating technology.

Key Aspects of Parole Board Spending Reductions:

Budgetary Impact: The PBC is part of a government-wide initiative to reduce spending, which will see increasing, sustained cuts over the next few years.

Efficiency Measures: The reductions are tied to a "Comprehensive Expenditure Review" designed to reduce, for example, duplication and improve the effectiveness of government programs.

Operational Focus: The 2025-26 plan highlights a focus on internal services, including technology and AI integration to streamline operations.

Potential Concerns: Unions have expressed concerns that such cuts across federal departments could lead to longer wait times for services, reduced support for staff, and weakened social safety nets.

The reductions are part of a larger, ongoing effort to cut billions from federal spending.

I have crossed every couple of months in the past year. I stress out each time. Nothing ever happens. One time they were just ready to wave me through after then normal questions and their system went down and I got to sit at the booth for 25 minutes. I turn off my personal phone and hide it away and am ready with my work phone (ie no social media at all)!if asked because I know I would be locked up if they looked at what I have to say about their fierce leader)

Note that I am in Atlantic canada and use an NB crossing and I do have hotel reservations each trip. I’ve not been pulled into secondary except when I have to renew every 6 months.
