White House To Testify In Impeachment Probe This Saturday

White House budget official Mark Sandy walked into a closed session of the U.S. House of Representatives impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump on Saturday, where he is expected to testify about the holdup of military aid to Ukraine.

Sandy, a career official of the Office of Management and Budget, would be the first person from OMB to testify before the inquiry after three political appointees defied congressional subpoenas to appear.

Earlier this week, Sandy’s lawyer said his client would appear for a deposition if he is issued a subpoena. It remained unclear on Saturday whether a subpoena was issued.

Trump’s pressure on Ukraine is at the heart of the Democratic-led inquiry into whether the Republican president misused U.S. foreign policy to undermine one of his potential opponents in the 2020 election.

On Friday, Trump launched a Twitter attack on a former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine while she was testifying to an impeachment hearing in Congress, in an extraordinary moment that Democrats said amounted to witness intimidation.

Polish President Duda Wants Turkey To join EU

Poland hopes Turkey will eventually join the European Union, Polish President Andrzej Duda said on Tuesday, days ahead of an EU summit which will discuss the frayed relations between Brussels and Ankara.

The EU, particularly heavyweight member Germany, has become increasingly critical of Turkey since President Tayyip Erdogan launched large-scale purges of state institutions, the military, the judiciary and academia after a failed coup in July 2016.

“Poland has supported and (also) today supports Turkey’s EU accession efforts,” Duda told a joint news conference with Erdogan during his visit to Warsaw.

“I hope Turkey and the EU will continue on the same path … leading to a full membership for Turkey.”

EU leaders will discuss the bloc’s deteriorating ties with Ankara on Oct 19 during a two-day summit.

Turkey’s 12-year-long accession talks, already dogged by disputes on a range of issues, have ground to a halt since the post-coup crackdown, in which more than 50,000 people have been jailed pending trial and some 150,000 – including judges, journalists and soldiers – have been sacked or suspended.

Within the EU, Poland has traditionally been among the most staunch supporters of enlargement, including Turkey’s accession.

Erdogan, speaking alongside Duda, reiterated his criticism of the EU’s accession policy, saying the bloc should announce the end of talks if it doesn’t mean to accept Turkey.

“We won’t bother you any further and you don’t bother us,” he said.

lapta holiday village has been the worst hotel found here in North Cyprus with the poor rate of service to customers. poor relationship with staffs managers...... .lack of staff.........inadequate maintenance of building...yet the make millions of money each year.

Earlier today vincentus maria crew had an interview with some of the staffs. the said "lapetos problem is base on bad managers. the make much money during summer periods but yet the don't make use of the money well..some of us are been own three months salaries and some are been own ten months salaries how do you expect us to render a good service when we are been own".

Is better for government to shut down such hotel which bring bad name to Cyprus... Ealier this summer a customer was seen masturbating in the pool ....due to lack of security. (according to an eye witness).
although lapta holiday village has a good environment but the inner building is full with trash.

According to our corespondent who visited said that...the toilets are very dirty and not nice look for a tourist to stay.. A person who left his home for vacation needs a very relax environment..not a discomfort... although many tourist kept visiting the hotel yet and end up leaving with sad faces.

According to the maneger (Sergay) saıd that.. he is trying his possible best to make sure things are keep in order.

The island of Cyprus in the eastern Mediterranean is 40 miles from the coast of Turkey, 60 miles from Syria and 250 miles from Egypt. It is the third-largest island in the Mediterranean after Sicily and Sardinia.

Cyprus is at a historically and strategically significant location, at the crossroads between East and West. Many civilizations have ruled the island and left their marks on its cultural heritage.

Traces of a historic and cultural heritage in the 1,310-square-mile Northern Cyprus go back 10,000 years. The first signs of human occupation on the island date from 8,000 B.C.

Since the Neolithic period, marks have been left by civilizations including the Phoenicians, Assyrians, Egyptians, the Ptolemaic Dynasty, Persians, Hellenes, Romans, Byzantines, Lusignans, Venetians, Ottomans and the British.

Tourism continues to be one of the main engines of economic development in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. According to 2014 estimates, tourism contributes 9 percent to gross domestic product. The occupancy rate this April was 31 percent. Visitors from Turkey and the United Kingdom make up the biggest share, but the number of tourists from European and Eastern countries has increased significantly in the past few years. The island’s pristine beaches and natural beauty have earned it the title “A Corner of Earth Touched by Heaven.”

The moderate climate of Northern Cyprus is typical for the Mediterranean. The summers are long and hot, and the winters are short with little rainfall. Cold winds, frost and snow are virtually unknown. January low temperatures average 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average high in July is 104 degrees. The annual mean temperature is 59 degrees.

Vacationers enjoy the golden sandy beaches, beautiful mountains, castles, abbeys, palaces, rare plant species and tranquil environment, as well as the warm hospitality of the Mediterranean people.

All the hotels and other tourist facilities within the boundaries of Northern Cyprus are functioning according to international standards. The laws pertaining to the permits, licenses and functioning regulations are on par with those of the European Union. The crime rate, according to international monitors, is well below those of Southern Cyprus and Europe.

Luxury hotels, family hotels, boutique hotels and ecotourism hotels have been constructed in recent years. The number of people visiting Northern Cyprus has continued to increase. In 2011, records show, 801,326 people came from Turkey and 220,763 from other countries. In 2013, these numbers were 923,308 and 309,445 respectively. They show only the people coming through the Northern Cypriot air and sea ports. In 2003, with the border open, many visitors came from the South to visit. Last year, 1,814,708 foreigners visited.

The number of bed nights and occupancy rates also have increased. In 2011, the total number of bed nights was 2,287,869 and the occupancy rate was 41.4 percent. In 2013, these figures were 2,877,564 and 47.9 percent respectively. In 2013, the four top nationalities whose people stayed in tourist accommodation establishments were Turkey, the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands.

By the end of August this year, the total bed capacity reached 19,346 — 69 percent in the Kyrenia region, 7 percent in Gazimagusa region, 19 percent in the Iskele region, 4 percent in the Lefkoa region and 1 percent in the Gzelyurt region.

The number of tourist accommodation establishments corresponding to total bed capacity is 132. Of these, 17 are five-star hotels, four are four-star hotels, 10 are three-star hotels, 17 are two-star hotels, 18 are one-star hotels, five are Class II holiday villages, five are boutique hotels, one is a special-class hotel, 29 are tourist bungalows, two are apart hotels, three are traditional houses, one is a holiday home and 17 are tourist guesthouses. Ministry official pleads guilty in landfill scandal

Interior ministry official Christakis Petrou on Wednesday pled guilty to taking kickbacks by waste-management company Helector Cyprus.

Petrou is the third defendant in the bribery scandal involving the awarding of contracts for the Paphos and Koshi landfills to plead guilty, following former Paphos mayor Savvas Vergas and Helector’s former CEO Demetris Giannakopoulos.
Petrou, who sat on the ministry’s tenders-review committee, pled guilty to being bribed by Helector with €3,000, through Giannakopoulos’ successor Ioannis Kokotsis, in order to treat Helector’s bid favourably.

Following his guilty plea, the prosecution suspended charges of fraud by a civil servant and money laundering against him.

Petrou’s defence lawyer will argue for mitigation on June 7.

In addition to Petrou, Vergas, and Giannakopoulos, 13 others are defendants in the trial over kickbacks concerning the Koshi and Paphos landfills.

They are former Larnaca mayor Andreas Louroudjiatis, former Paphos Sewerage Board (Sapa) director Eftichios Malekkides, civil servants Michalis Pantis and Stelios Papadopoulos, pensioners Antonis Kourouzides and Georgios Koullapis, municipal employee Demetrios Patsalides, doctor Nicolas Koullapis, engineer Imad Bagle, chemical engineer Theofanis Lolos, and companies Enviroplan, Helector Cyprus, and Midoriaco Ltd.

US President Donald Trump arrived at the Vatican on Wednesday for talks with one of his most high-profile critics, Pope Francis, after the two men exchanged sharp words during the presidential campaign last year.

Under clear blue skies, Trump received a tribute from the Swiss Guard in a Vatican courtyard where he was greeted by Archbishop Georg Ganswein, the prefect of the pontifical household.
Trump looked uncomfortable as he entered a small elevator taking him to the third floor of the Apostolic Palace, where he was accompanied by Ganswein and other officials along a frescoed corridor to the pope’s private study.

Following behind Trump were daughter Ivanka, her husband, Jared Kushner, a top White House aide, national security adviser H.R. McMaster and adviser Hope Hicks.

The pope did not smile as he greeted Trump outside the study. Trump, seeming subdued, said “it is a great honour.”

The two men then posed for photograghs and the pope kept a stern face while Trump beamed for the cameras. The meeting began at precisely 8:33 a.m.

Trump’s meeting with Pope Francis, his third stop on a nine-day foreign tour due to end on Saturday, is part of his world tour of religions after meeting leaders of Muslim nations in Saudi Arabia and visiting holy sites in Jerusalem.

But while his talks in Saudi Arabia and Israel were mostly friendly, the meeting between the head of the Roman Catholic Church and the thrice-married, blunt-spoken Trump could be a little more confrontational.

SHARP EXCHANGES

The pope said last year a man who thinks about building walls and not bridges is “not Christian,” a sharp reprimand for Trump’s vow to build a wall along the US border with Mexico.

Trump said it was “disgraceful” of the Argentine-born pope, who represents just over half of the world’s two billion Christians, to question his faith.

“If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows is ISIS’ ultimate trophy, I can promise you that the pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been president,” Trump said during the campaign.

Trump’s softer stance on environmental regulations also is at odds with Francis’ view that climate change is caused mostly by human activity.

The Vatican also took a dim view of Trump’s anti-Muslim campaign rhetoric, although Trump softened his tone considerably in a major speech in Riyadh.

Francis said last week he would be “sincere” with Trump but did not want to judge him before listening to him in person.

Part of Trump’s motivation for meeting the pope was to dramatise how the three major religions should rally against the threat from Islamist militants.

“We thought that this trip was essential to put together the Muslim faith, the Jewish faith and then the Catholic faith, the Christian faith,” said a senior White House official who briefed reporters on Trump’s Air Force One flight to Rome.

“By putting everybody together you can really build a coalition and show that it’s not a Muslim problem, it’s not a Jewish problem, it’s not a Catholic problem, it’s not a Christian problem, it really is a world problem,” the official said.

Trump at first did not plan to stop in Rome during his visit to Europe, which some in the Vatican saw as a snub. When he changed his mind, the Vatican squeezed him in at 8:30 a.m. on a Wednesday morning, an unusual day and an unusually early time.

Francis holds his weekly audience with the general public on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St Peter’s Square.

After the meeting, Trump moves on to Brussels for a NATO summit, followed by the last stop on his trip, to a Group of Seven summit in Sicily.

North Korea On Sunday Detained Another US Citizen

North Korea said on Sunday it has detained another US citizen on suspicion of “hostile acts” against the state, which would make him the fourth American to be held by the isolated country amid heightened diplomatic tensions with Washington.

Kim Hak Song, who worked for the Pyongyang University of Science and Technology, was detained on Saturday, the North‘s KCNA news agency said.

“A relevant institution of the DPRK detained American citizen Kim Hak Song on May 6 under a law of the DPRK on suspension of his hostile acts against it,” KCNA said. DPRK is short for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, North Korea‘s official name.

A third US citizen, Kim Sang Dok, who was associated with the same school, was detained in late April for hostile acts, according to the North‘s official media.

The US State Department said it is aware of the latest reported detention.

“The security of US citizens is one of the department’s highest priorities. When a US citizen is reported to be detained in North Korea, we work with the Swedish embassy in Pyongyang,” a State Department official said in an emailed statement, declining to provide further details for privacy reasons.

The reported detention comes as tensions on the Korean peninsula run high, driven by harsh rhetoric from Pyongyang and Washington over the North‘s pursuit of nuclear weapons in response to what it says is a threat of US-instigated war.

The Pyongyang University of Science and Technology (Pust) was founded by evangelical Christians and opened in 2010. Its students are generally children of the country’s elite.

The volunteer faculty of Pust, many of whom are evangelical Christians, has a curriculum that includes subjects once considered taboo in North Korea, such as capitalism. The college is an unlikely fit in a country that has been condemned by the United States for cracking down on freedom of religion.

Kim, who manages the school’s experimental farm at the college of agriculture and life sciences, was detained on route by train from Pyongyang to China’s border town of Dandong, the university’s co-founder Chan-Mo Park told Reuters.

Park declined to comment further.

A message by Kim Hak Song dated February 2015 on the website of a Korean-Brazilian church in Sao Paulo said he was a Christian missionary planning to start an experimental farm at Pust and was trying to help the North Korean people learn to become self-sufficient.

No further details were available about the circumstances related to the arrests of the two men associated with the college. A spokesman for Pust was not immediately available for comment.

North Korea, which has been criticized for its human rights record, has in the past used detained Americans to extract high-profile visits from the United States, with which it has no formal diplomatic relations.

The other two Americans already held in North Korea are Otto Warmbier, a 22-year-old student, and Kim Dong Chul, a 62-year-old Korean-American missionary.

Warmbier was detained in January 2016 and sentenced to 15 years hard labour for attempting to steal a propaganda banner.

Two months later, Kim Dong Chul was sentenced to 10 years hard labour for subversion. Neither has appeared in public since being sentenced.

World News: Hundred Of Migrant Dead on Mediterranean Sea

More than 200 migrants are feared to have died in the Mediterranean over the weekend, according to testimony from survivors, and several bodies, including that of an infant, have washed up on a Libyan beach.
About 7,500 people have been rescued off the coast of Libya since Thursday, the Italian and Libyan coastguards said. Two groups of survivors told the organisations that hundreds drowned when their rubber boats began to deflate before rescuers arrived.

More than 60 are feared dead and three bodies were recovered on Saturday, survivors brought to Sicily on Sunday told Italian coastguards. The boat left Libya carrying about 120, they said.

There was some discrepancy in the numbers. Based on its interviews with some of the survivors in Pozzallo, Italy, the UN refugee agency estimated the number of dead at more than 80.

Separately, Libya’s coastguard picked up seven survivors over the weekend who said they had been on a boat packed with 170 migrants. Aid agency International Medical Corps, which gave medical care to the survivors, also confirmed their account.

“We rescued on Sunday seven illegal migrants – six men and a woman,” said Omar Koko, a coastguard commander in the western city of Zawiya. “According to these survivors, there were 170 on board the boat, which sank because of overloading.”

Among those missing were more than 30 women and nine children, Koko said.

Eleven bodies washed up on the shore west of Zawiya, said Mohanad Krima, a spokesman for the Red Crescent in Zawiya.

“All the bodies are of female victims and there is a girl of less than one year old,” he said. Last week, survivors said a young man found shot dead on one of the rubber boats had been killed by a smuggler for his baseball cap.

The UN refugee agency says that, excluding the latest shipwrecks, more than 1,150 people have disappeared or died so far this year trying to reach Italy from North Africa, where a breakdown of law and order has allowed people smugglers to operate with impunity.

Migrant arrivals to Italy by sea are up about 30 per cent this year on 2016, when a record 181,000 came.

“The increasing numbers of passengers on board vessels used by traffickers, with an average of 100 to 150 people, are alarming and the main cause of shipwrecks,” United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi said on Sunday.

“Risks are increased by the worsening quality of vessels and the increasing use of rubber boats instead of wooden ones,” Grandi said.

World News: British Government Needs To do Something On Refugee Problems.

Britain’s next government should “do the right thing” for refugees by increasing resettlement quotas, reuniting more refugees with family in the UK, and cutting the number of detained asylum seekers, the United Nations refugee agency said on Monday.

Ahead of Britain’s general election on June 8, the UNHCR representative to the UK, Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, urged the next government to do more to help refugees escaping conflicts.

“Britain has a rich history of welcoming those forced to flee, and UNHCR urges the next government to do the right thing and ensure a fair and equal treatment for all refugees,” Llosa wrote in an editorial for The Times newspaper on Monday.

Llosa said the UK should resettle 10,000 refugees a year from war-torn regions, instead of the current pledge to receive 20,000 Syrians and 3,000 vulnerable child migrants by 2020.

UNHCR said 1.2 million refugees are in need of resettlement globally from host countries like Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, Kenya and Tanzania.

“Resettlement not only benefits needy refugees. It also helps to relieve a small part of the burden on those developing countries which have for years been sheltering millions of refugees,” Llosa said.

In 2016, 65.3 million people were uprooted from their homes around the world, and among them, nearly 21.3 million refugees, the UNHCR says.

He said refugees were also suffering unnecessarily from Britain’s “restrictive and complex” family reunification process, which only lets children under 18 reunite with their parents. Refugee children in the UK are also unable to sponsor their parents or siblings, according to the British Red Cross.

Llosa called for Britain to cut the number of asylum seekers in detention and to integrate them into the community under supervision.

There were about 123,000 refugees and 45,870 asylum seekers in the UK by the end of 2015, according to UNHCR.

World News: US looks Into The Affairs Of Syria Safe Zone.

US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis said on Monday the United States would closely examine proposed de-escalation zones aimed at easing Syria’s civil war but warned “the devil‘s in the details” and that much needed to be worked out.

The deal to create “de-escalation” zones in the major areas of conflict in western Syria took effect on Saturday.
The initiative was proposed by Russia, President Bashar al-Assad’s most powerful ally, with the support of Turkey, which backs the opposition. Iran, Assad’s other major ally, also backed it.

Political and armed opposition groups have rejected the proposal, saying Russia has been unwilling or unable to get Assad and his Iranian-backed militia allies to respect past ceasefires.

Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem said on Monday that his government would abide by the terms of the plan so long as rebels also observed it, although the Syrian government has also said it will continue to fight what it calls terrorist groups.

The US State Department has voiced concerns about the deal, saying it was sceptical of Iran’s involvement as a guarantor of the accord and Damascus’s track record on previous agreements.

Mattis, in some of the most extensive remarks by the Trump administration so far, was cautious when asked about the deal’s chances as he travelled to Copenhagen for talks with US allies.

“All wars eventually come to an end and we’ve been looking for a long time how to bring this one to an end. So we’ll look at the proposal and see if it can work,” he told reporters.

He added that basic details were still unclear, including who specifically would ensure the zones were “safe” and exactly which groups would be kept out of them.

Pressed as to whether he thought the de-escalation zones could help end the conflict, Mattis said: “The devil‘s always in the details, right? So we’ve got to look at the details.”

The agreement said four de-escalation zones would be established in Syria for a period of six months, which could be extended if the three signatory countries agreed.

Weaponry and air strikes were not to be used in those zones by combatants, the text published by the Russian foreign ministry on Saturday said.

The agreement also includes creating conditions for humanitarian access, medical assistance and the return of displaced civilians to their homes.

The initiative is the most serious effort to reduce violence and shore up a ceasefire first declared in December since western states accused Damascus of a chemical attack in early April on rebel-held Idlib province.

Mattis noted that US Marine General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, spoke about the zones with his Russian counterpart on Saturday.

“This subject was brought up, but there’s a lot of details to be worked out,” Mattis said.

North Cyprus tops Mediterranean tourism charts

Cyprus has recorded the highest increase in tourism arrivals in the Mediterranean while being the second cheapest Mediterranean tourist destination after Turkey.
Speaking during a session of the House Commerce Committee, Cyprus Hoteliers Association (CHA) Director General Zacharias Ioannides said that despite an increase in demand, hoteliers in Cyprus have restrained from increasing their prices.

“Cyprus is considered to be the second cheapest in the Mediterranean region after Turkey which has experienced a 50% drop in reservations due to the known problems,” said Ioannides.

Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) Acting Director Marinos Menelaou also told MPs that a new independent study showed Cyprus to have the largest increase in tourist arrivals in the Mediterranean region.

Menelaou went on to say that tourism arrivals for the first quarter had shown a 13.5% increase over the corresponding 2016 period with revenue showing a 23% year on year increase.

According to Menelaou, tourism arrivals during the winter had reached 298,000 culminating as the second best winter season ever.

“These figures show a success when it comes to seasonality,” he said.

Reservation figures for the 2017-2018 winter season are expected to increase by 20% while in general, reservations for 2017 from the UK – Cyprus’ largest tourism market – have increased by 10% compared to 2016.

The CTO also announced the successful visit to the island of 7,000 Austrian pensioners which came to Cyprus in groups. The same number is expected to visit Cyprus again during the spring of 2018.

Although the Austrians were based in Ayia Napa and Protaras, they travelled and visited various areas on the island.

Green Light for Secretariat for Tourism
Political parties in Cyprus have indicated that they will give the green light for the creation of a Secretariat for Tourism while the new strategy for tourism will be submitted before the House within the next few weeks.

According to House Commerce Committee Chairman Angelos Votsis, the bill for the Secretariat for Tourism is expected to be passed by the majority of MPs but will only be implemented by the new government in 2018.

Menelaou, in the meantime, has said that Cyprus needs new branding as its current tourism model is considered obsolete with emphasis needing to be placed on up-to-date forms of tourism.

1. S3xx: This has to top the list. I remember back then in school, a course mate was telling me how she got her Samsung tab. She said after going out a few times with the man, he took her to a plaza and got her a tab for almost 100k. She then proudly indicated when she got the tab, she decided to sleep with him. You get the drift? She rewarded the man with sexx. And this remains the most powerful weapon today.

Women (even in marriages) have painted intimacy as what a man has to earn. So, you will see the average guy running pillar to post just to get into a girl’s pants. Yet, it is the same act that they will both enjoy! If you as a man do not learn to turn down the advances of a woman from time to time, you will still remain under her power. There is something about a man who refused to be manipulated into sexx. The woman will immediately see him as a conquest she must win. Guys, learn to say “no” too. You won’t die!

2. Being the one to ask her out: It is like a tradition, especially in Africa that a man should ask a woman out. Have you observed that once a man says he wants a relationship with a woman, she suddenly gains an influence over him? Well, there is little that can be done here.

However, some guys have found their way around it. How? They simply ensure that she is way into them too that she starts to show not just green light, but all the colors of the rainbow. Guys who do not understand this are those still committed to chasing a woman for weeks stretching into months. Or better still, quit begging a woman for a relationship. They often have more to gain than give in the relationship anyway.

3. Showing weakness on purpose: There is an effect on a man that comes when a woman shows him her weakness. Once she shows her seeming inability to do something, what naturally comes to your mind as a guy? To help her out, isn’t it? For instance, if she was in the sun trying to get a taxi, you may feel inclined to offer her a ride. But have you ever done that for a guy? Okay, let’s rephrase the question: have you even ever shown concern to a guy in such a situation? Of course not!

But what does the society call such preferential acts? Being a gentleman. This is the reason why some guys will buy a lady a phone of 70k while their brother is using torchlight. And women have discovered this! Have you seen a woman showing her weakness to her fellow woman? Hardly! But she shows it to a guy. Why? Because she knows he will start to feel like it is his responsibility to do something about it.

4. Crying over an issue: Does this need much explanation? She knows that if you truly love her, you can’t bear to see her cry. So, when logic and all forms of persuasion prove abortive, this is the last bet. And for most guys, when they see the tears, their reasoning just goes to sleep. The point is, most of these tears are not genuine. She is simply using a weapon in her armory to achieve her goal.

5. Stirring jealousy: She may not be getting attention from you or she wants you to take notice of her. To get quick attention from you, she decides to flirt with other guys in your presence. The aim is to get you jealous, put you on your toes and make you run to her.

Most women believe flirting with other guys will make their men see them as valuable and desirable by others. You may get angry for a while (yes, they know), but eventually, your girl probably knows you will start working yourself hard to keep her.

6. Petting and flattery: This is one of the most rampant, even online. This is what makes a guy to pounce on his fellow guy online simply because a female referred to him as “baby”. Seriously, guys need to grow past this! The craze to hear sweet things from a woman has made many go to surprising lengths.

Beware when she suddenly is all nice to you. Beware when she flatters you. You have no idea what is about to hit you. If you do, you probably won’t be smiling sheepishly.

7. Playing the guilt card: This is reverse psychology. What happens here is that she will blame you for something to get you to try defending yourself and then getting you to do what she blamed you about. Let’s say she accused you of not loving her as a reason why you did not get her an ipad. What is the motive? To get you to explain that you love her and promise to get her an ipad in the end.

You know the implication? She just stripped you of the right to complain that you will not buy her the phone. Or else, you risk proving that you don’t love her. My best advice to guys in this situation: do nothing, say nothing. Just let the accusation hang and be quiet. if must say something, tell her that she do not value the relationship that is why she weigh the level of love using material things.
Remember, this strategy is always a trap.

Women can easily spot when a fellow woman like them is using a guy’s head. Guys need to learn all these manipulations and know to come off it.

World business News:British economy slows sharply as inflation hits home

Britain’s economy slowed sharply in the first three months of 2017 as higher inflation, boosted by last year’s Brexit vote, hit spending on the high street and hurt other consumer-focused businesses.
With the country heading for an election on June 8, there were other signs on Friday of a slowdown in the economy as house prices fell for a second month and a measures of consumer confidence fell.

The Office for National Statistics said growth in the overall economy weakened to a one-year low of 0.3 percent in the January-March period from 0.7 percent in the last three months of 2016.

That represented a sharper slowdown in the rate of quarterly gross domestic product growth than the drop to 0.4 percent forecast by economists in a Reuters poll.

Last year, Britain vied with Germany to be the fastest growing of the world’s major advanced economies with annual growth of 1.8 percent, defying widespread predictions of recession after the vote to leave the European Union.

But Friday’s figures are the clearest sign so far that the country is slowing in the run-up to the early election called by Prime Minister Theresa May.

She is hoping to strengthen her negotiating mandate as Britain prepares to leave the European Union in 2019.

British finance minister Philip Hammond said the economy remained resilient.

But Alan Clarke, an economist at Scotiabank, said he expected it would slow further in the coming months.

“This weakness is likely to be blamed on Brexit. That is probably fair,” Clarke said, citing higher inflation.

“We see the trough in growth at 0.2 percent quarter-on-quarter towards the end of this year, when the squeeze from inflation is at its most intense,” he added.

The June 2016 Brexit vote led to a big fall in the value of sterling, which is now starting to push up inflation and eat into consumers’ disposable income.

The ONS said the biggest drag to first-quarter growth came from retailers and hotels, which had been hurt by higher prices.

Official data last week showed the biggest quarterly fall in retail sales since 2010.

There was little market reaction to the GDP slowdown.

Consumer price inflation is rising at its fastest since September 2013 as companies pass on increased costs caused by sterling’s slide in value since the Brexit vote, and many economists expect it to hit 3 percent later this year.

Despite the pick-up in inflation, the Bank of England is widely expected to keep interest rates at their record low of 0.25 percent as it waits to see the full impact of Brexit on the country’s economy.

SLOWDOWN

Other measures are also showing a softening in the economy, too.

Nationwide, one of Britain’s biggest mortgage lenders, said earlier on Friday that houses prices fell for a second month in a row in April, taking the annual rate of price increase to its slowest in almost four years.

GfK’s index of consumer sentiment also weakened, though some other measures of retail sales have shown a rebound in April and private-sector surveys of manufacturers and house-builders are buoyant.

The ONS said GDP growth in year-on-year terms rose to 2.1 percent from 1.9 percent in the final three months of 2016, the strongest rate since the second quarter of 2015 but slightly weaker than with economists’ average forecast of 2.2 percent.

The Bank of England and the International Monetary Fund forecast growth of 2.0 percent for this year, before a modest slowdown in 2018, while most private-sector economists see a rather weaker expansion this year.

Britain’s dominant services sector grew 0.3 percent in the first quarter, the weakest rate in two years, after growth of 0.8 percent in late 2016, the ONS said. Industrial output also rose 0.3 percent while construction expanded by 0.2 percent.

A Minna Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday sentenced five men to three -year imprisonment each, after they admitted committing adultery.

They were, however, given an option of N 150, 000 fine each.
The accused: Mohammed Faruk, Johnbosco Dedan, David Momoh, Sunday Ekuese and Vincent Emmanuel, were arraigned alongside Naomi Abdulmajeed on a two – count charge of enticing a married woman and committing adultery.

The Prosecutor , Inspector Emmanuel Danladi, had told the court that one Abdulmajeed Akin of Tunga, Minna, reported the matter at the Tudun Wada Police Station on April 28.

Danladi quoted the complainant as alleging that his wife, Naomi, had intimate relationships with the other accused persons who each had sex with her on different occasions and at different venues.

He said that some of the accused persons were said to have slept with complainant’ s wife in her matrimonial home.

The offences, he said, were contrary to sections 389, 387 and 388 of the penal code.

When the charges were read to the accused persons, they all pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.

The prosecutor thereafter asked the court to try them summarily in line with Section 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

He also prayed the court to order the accused persons to pay a compensation of N 500, 000 each to the complainant.

Counsel to the accused persons , Obi Alex , however , prayed the court to temper justice with mercy, given their admission without wasting the time of the court.

Delivering his judgment , the presiding magistrate , Mohammed Hassan, sentenced the accused persons to three -year imprisonment each, or a fine of N150,000 each.

He, however, ordered the complainant’ s wife to pay a fine of N 10,000 only.

The judge also ordered the other five accused persons to each pay a compensation of N 100, 000 to the complainant.( NAN)

European News:Assange lawyer asks Swedish court to tear up detention order

Julian Assange’s lawyer has requested a Swedish court rescind a detention order against the WikiLeaks founder over an alleged rape and allow him to go to Ecuador to be safe from extradition to the United States.
Assange, 45, has been holed up in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London since 2012, after taking refuge there to avoid extradition to Sweden over allegations of rape, which he denies.

He fears Sweden would in turn hand him over to the United States to face prosecution over WikiLeaks’ publication of thousands of classified military and diplomatic documents in one of the largest information leaks in US history.

Lawyer Per Samuelson said the United States had now openly said it wants to arrest Assange. “Given that the US is obviously hunting him now, he has to make use of his political asylum and it is Sweden’s duty to make sure that Sweden is no longer a reason for that fact he has to stay in the embassy,” Samuelson said.

“If they rescind the detention order, there is a possibility he can go to Ecuador and then he can use political asylum in an entire country.”

CIA Director Mike Pompeo last month called WikiLeaks a “hostile intelligence service”, and Attorney-general Jeff Sessions, responding to a question about Assange, said the administration was stepping up its efforts against all leaks of sensitive information.

“Whenever a case can be made, we will seek to put some people in jail,” Sessions said.

Samuelson said Sweden’s supreme court had previously rejected a similar request for the detention order to be torn up on the grounds that there was little chance that Assange would be handed over to the United States.

“With the supreme court’s own reasoning, his detention should now be rescinded because we can now prove that the US is hunting Julian Assange,” he said.

He said it was unreasonable to demand that he should give up the 100 per cent security of political asylum in Ecuador in exchange for the lower protection given by Swedish rules on extradition to the United States.

Samuelson said he expected the High Court to consider the request in the next few weeks.

Assange was questioned in November in Ecuador’s London embassy over the alleged rape, and Sweden is now considering whether to proceed with its preliminary investigation. The offence is alleged to have occurred in 2010.

Samuelson said Swedish prosecutors would still be able to pursue their investigation against Assange even were he to be allowed to go to Ecuador.

“If they want to charge him and go to trial, that can happen just as well with him at liberty in Ecuador since that’s the only place he can be,” Samuelson said.

“It does not mean there would be any disadvantage to Sweden.”

N.Korea says American was detained for ‘attempted subversion’

North Korea said on Wednesday an American man it had detained in late April, the third US citizen being held by the isolated country, was intercepted because he was attempting to commit “hostile acts”.
The state-run KCNA news agency said the American, identified last month as Kim Sang Dok, was arrested on April 22 at the Pyongyang airport for committing “hostile criminal acts with an aim to subvert the country”.

The latest information about Kim’s detention comes as tensions on the Korean peninsula run high, driven by concerns that the North might conduct its sixth nuclear test in defiance of US pressure and United Nations sanctions.

The United States is negotiating with China, North Korea’s sole major ally, about a stronger UN Security Council response, although Washington has also reiterated that all options for dealing with the North remain on the table.

North Korea, which has been criticised for its human rights record, has in the past used detained Americans to extract high-profile visits from the United States, with which it has no formal diplomatic relations.

KCNA said on Wednesday Kim had taught an accounting course in Pyongyang.

“Invited to Pyongyang University of Science and Technology (Pust) to teach accounting as a professor, he was intercepted for committing criminal acts of hostility aimed to overturn the DPRK not only in the past but also during his last stay before interception,” KCNA news agency said, using North Korea’s official name of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Law enforcement officials were investigating Kim’s alleged crime, it said.

Kim, who also goes by his English name Tony Kim and is in his 50s, was detained at Pyongyang International Airport as he attempted to leave the country, the university’s chancellor had said previously.

Pust said in an email to Reuters that it did not believe Kim’s detention was related to his work at the university.

A Pust spokesman, who asked not to be identified, said Kim’s wife, who was with him when he was arrested, had since returned to the United States.

“Mrs Kim left the DPRK and is now back in the USA with family and friends,” the spokesman said. “We certainly hope for a positive resolution as soon as possible.”

The other two Americans already held in North Korea are Otto Warmbier, a 22-year-old student, and Kim Dong Chul, a 62-year-old Korean-American missionary.

Warmbier was detained in January 2016 and sentenced to 15 years hard labour for attempting to steal a propaganda banner.

Two months later, Kim Dong Chul was sentenced to 10 years hard labour for subversion. Neither has appeared in public since their sentencing.

Australia to review millionaire migrants rule as it tightens immigration

Australia will this year review visa rules for wealthy would-be migrants, mostly Chinese, a government official said on Wednesday, as the country tightens requirements for granting residency rights.
He did not elaborate on the changes under review but hinted at the need to be proficient in English.

The announcement comes only days after Australia axed a temporary work visa popular with foreigners, replacing it with a tougher programme, and raised the bar for attaining citizenship.

Nearly 90 per cent of applicants for the Significant Investor Visas are Chinese who need to bring in a minimum A$5 million ($3.75 million) to become eligible for Australian residency.

“The programme has to be designed to meet the Australian economy’s needs. You will have the opportunity to directly have a say in the review and your feedback will be considered by the department,” Assistant Immigration Minister Alex Hawke said at a Chinese in Australiaseminar in Sydney.

“…The expectation from the Australian community is that migrants have competent English,” he said. “I don’t think that is unfair.”

Australia has seen the rise of nationalist, anti-immigration politics with far-right wing parties such as One Nation garnering strong public support, while the popularity of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull’s ruling centre-right government has been languishing.

Many Chinese millionaires seek to move to Australia for a better lifestyle, although some may also seek to avoid a sweeping corruption crackdown in China that is prompting many wealthy Chinese to move their money.

Australia tightened SIV rules in 2015 requiring applicants to invest in small-cap and venture capital funds while barring them from direct property investment – a move that many immigration lawyers say has led to fading appeal for the visa.

Hawke emphasised the government was committed to the programme, responding to a question about rumours in China that Australia was looking to scrap the visa.

Immigration is a sensitive issue in Australia which maintains a strict policy of not allowing asylum seekers who try to reach the country by boat to settle there, instead detaining them in controversial camps on Nauru and in Papua New Guinea.

UK ‘wants generous deal for EU residents post-Brexit’

Britain’s intention in negotiations over the post-Brexit status of European Union nationals already living in the United Kingdom is to give them very similar rights to those they enjoy now, Brexit minister David Davis said on Wednesday.
Davis said it was important to quickly agree on the future rights of EU nationals living in Britain and Britons living in other EU countries after the United Kingdom exits the bloc in 2019, because uncertainty was making those people anxious.

“It is the intention that they will have a generous settlement, pretty much exactly what they enjoy now, and our British citizens abroad will do the same,” Davis said during an interview on BBC radio.

His comment differed from what was suggested by Prime Minister Theresa May during a dinner with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, according to a report in German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS) on Sunday.

FAS reported that May had said she thought it would not be a problem to resolve the issue as EU citizens in Britain could simply be treated like other nationals of third countries.

Juncker reportedly responded that would be a big problem, as EU nationals currently enjoyed many special rights and it would be necessary to go over details such as health insurance.

In his BBC interview on Wednesday, Davis said Britain wanted to deal with the issue up front, and was working with EU partners on how to speed up the process.

“One is to take a very simple solution, which we have talked about. Secondly, if it has to be a treaty or something that takes time, that we would have an exchange of letters making it plain what we’re going to achieve,” he said.

“Those sorts of things we are working on, and working with all of them (EU member states), and my expectation is that we will succeed with that.”

Davis dismissed a report in the Financial Times that the EU was preparing to demand a gross figure of €100bn from Britain as its bill for quitting the bloc.

Davis also dismissed a report in The Times newspaper that the EU would let May negotiate directly only with the European Commission’s chief negotiator Michel Barnier rather than with fellow EU leaders.

“We’re going into this negotiation not as a supplicant, but as a negotiator. There are two sides to negotiation, and the other side of the negotiation will not determine who does what,” he said.
