Why you need help finding assisted living

Finding assisted living can be an overwhelming process. Usually the senior has been living alone before the transition to assisted living, so you might not know all of their behaviors, conditions, and personal challenges. With that in mind, it might be difficult to find an assisted living facility that can provide adequate care. Do you need an assisted living facility that focuses on dementia care or simple board-and-care? Do you need a lot of trips to the hospital included in the price, or is it OK to pay a separate fee for each transport. What about medications? Can you keep up on what medications your loved one needs or do you need the assisted living facility to take care of that? Not all assisted living facilities are equal to the task, so get help finding the right one.

Call (707) 237-2750 to get free help

So we’ve established that you should get help finding assisted living. It would be good for an expert to evaluate your loved ones condition and point you to a facility that they’ve already toured. That’s what Accessible Elder Care does. When you call (707) 237-2750 you will get helpful advice from Julie Kirschbaum, Administrator of a top assisted living facility in Santa Rosa, CA. She can evaluate your loved ones condition and recommend an assisted living facility that can meet their needs. From there you can tour these facilities and make your selection.

What Makes Accessible Elder Care So Special?

Answer: they know a lot about operating assisted living facilities, they’re local, and they’ve toured more assisted living facilities than you’ll ever want to. Oh, and their service to seniors and family members is free. That’s a big point. You don’t want to pay for assisted living guidance; you’ll be spending enough for assisted living as it is. When you call Accessible Elder Care, you’re getting this service for free. That’s a good deal.

If you’re looking for an assisted living facility in Santa Rosa, CA you can expect to pay roughly $3,500 per month for the average 6-bed care home. However, if you’re looking for a luxury retirement community in Santa Rosa the cost varies significantly between facilities. Some large retirement communities are more affordable at $3,000-$4,000 per month, while others charge much more.

Exceptional assisted living facilities that emphasize personal care can be very expensive. For instance, Wild Rose Care Home charges $250 per day for a private bedroom. The cost reflects the custom-built facility with a homely atmosphere and the degree of care provided. It is difficult to find assisted living facilities in Santa Rosa that provide exceptional senior care, and those few that do charge a rate commensurate with their expertise. If you need help finding quality assisted living facilities we recommend contacting Accessible Elder Care for some free advice and referrals.

Memory care is difficult to find in Santa Rosa. Few Santa Rosa assisted living facilities are capable of caring for seniors with advanced dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Most assisted living facilities are managed by individuals without medical experience or a background in dementia care. Consequently, these assisted living facilities are more comfortable providing board-and-care; simple caregiving that does not require specialized knowledge or expertise. Assisted living facilities that do accept seniors with dementia and excel in their care will probably charge a higher rate than most assisted living facilities. For instance, Wild Rose Care Home typically charges approximately $7,500 per month for incoming residents.

If you need help finding an assisted living facility within your budget call Accessible Elder Care at (707) 237-2750 to get free advice and referrals to local assisted living facilities. They will answer your questions and provide you with a complimentary referral to local assisted living facilities within your budget.

There are many Santa Rosa assisted living facilities, but there probably aren’t many that are right for your loved one. Many Santa Rosa assisted living facilities don’t provide dementia care, accept bedridden residents, or have staff on duty 24 hours a day. Furthermore, the scope of assisted living facilities is further reduced when you specify a price range. To find an assisted living facility we recommend contacting Accessible Elder Care at (707) 237-2750 for free assisted living referrals.

Small Santa Rosa Assisted Living Facilities

Most assisted living facilities are small. They have 6 or fewer beds and even fewer bedrooms. Hence, most assisted living facilities have a combination of shared and private rooms. Also, most assisted living facilities are not custom-built senior care facilities; they’re remodeled single family homes. Furthermore, most assisted living facilities are also occupied by the owner. These senior care facilities usually cost somewhere around $3,500 per month

Large Santa Rosa Assisted Living Facilities

A few assisted living facilities are large. They have 50-100+ beds, are owned by corporations, and cost upwards of $7,500 a month. They have a lot of activities and nice community amenities. If your loved one is fairly independent, this might be the option for them. You can get help finding one of these large Santa Rosa assisted living facilities by calling Accessible Elder Care.

Senior housing can include assisted living facilities. If an assisted living facility provides personal care to seniors in a residential setting they are officially termed residential care facilities for the elderly (RCFE’s). RCFE’s are licensed by the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, and are regulated under Title 22 and the California Health and Safety Code. Consequently, assisted living facilities that deliver personal care are licensed RCFE’s. Therefore, if you are looking for “senior housing” that provides personal care for your loved one, you might start looking for “assisted living facilities.”

On the other hand, if you’re looking for senior housing that doesn’t provide personal care, but does have activities, social events, etc., then you are looking for an independent living community. Independent living communities are retirement communities for the elderly. They don’t provide personal care, but they do have social events and other services.

An admission agreement includes all of the documents that a resident or his or her representative must sign to obtain admission into the assisted living facility. Certain provisions of the California Health and Safety Code & Title 22 mandate the following in relation to admission agreements:

1) Admission agreements must be written in clear language using words in their ordinary and plain meaning.

2) Admission agreements must be written in black ink with 12 point font on plain white paper. In addition, admission agreements must be printed on one-sided paper.

3) Admission agreements cannot contain any unlawful waivers of facility liability for the resident’s health and safety or personal belongings.

4) Admission agreements must specify what items and services are provided for a single fee. The admission agreement must also specify the items and services not included under the single fee and provide a corresponding price for each.

There are more provisions that must be included in an assisted living admission agreement. You can read the full list of required clauses by clicking here.

A Word of Advice:

Read your admission agreement in its entirety before signing. Don’t feel rushed to sign. Tell the administrator to provide you with a copy of the admission agreement days before you actually plan to sign it. It’s important that you fully understand what services and items are included in your fee. Also, it’s important to understand the pricing structure of the facility. For instance, if the facility assess a separate charge every time incontinence care is delivered in addition to your base rate, then the total monthly fee will be a lot more than you were expecting. In short, read your admission agreement.

Get a free referral. Accessible Elder Care is located in Santa Rosa, CA and they can refer you to an assisted living facility the provides excellent dementia care. Their referrals are free to family members and seniors seeking assisted living. All that you have to do is call Julie Kirschbaum at (707) 237-2750 and explain your loved ones condition, what you’re looking for in an assisted living facility, and what your long-term care budget is. She’ll refer you to several assisted living facilities that match your needs, saving you time.

Assisted living facilities provide personal, but non-medical, care to seniors; assistance with daily tasks; medication management; incontinence care; transportation; and daily activities. Of course, smaller assisted living facilities usually do not provide daily activities. In fact, it is rare for assisted living facilities with 6 or fewer beds to provide daily activities. However, Wild Rose Care Home does provide activities 5 days a week, with occasional unscheduled activities on the weekends. As a small six bed assisted living facility, Wild Rose Care Home is among the few Santa Rosa assisted living facilities to provide frequent activities.

The most common service offered by assisted living facilities is non-medical personal care. Assisted living facilities are limited to non-medical care by their licensed status as a California Residential Care Facility For The Elderly (RCFE). In contrast, nursing homes (otherwise known as Skilled Nursing Facilities or SNF’s) do provide medical care to seniors. Non-medical care includes assistance with eating, bathing, and toileting. Incontinence care is also a commonly encountered service. If you need help finding an assisted living facility that can meet your loved ones needs we recommend contacting a free placement agency by clicking here.
