Nowadays, Google Assistant smart displays are a thing in most homes. Especially smart homes. Assistant powered smart features do have all the features that you get on Google Home smart speakers. It looks like there's a new button on Google Assistant smart displays, which is a shortcut to Routines. So, do you have a smart display? Check if you have the new button. Probably the button is waiting for you to press it.

You'll find the button in the top drop-down panel next to lights so on. The icon of the button will look like a sun/moon with purple color. When you tap the Routine button, the smart display will bring up a list of all the routines on your account. If you select a routine, Google Assistant will execute it on your Home devices or the smart display itself as like you would say it louder.

This new button is now available all the smart displays with Google Assistant, which also includes the Google Nest Hub. The update with the build number 1.39154941 is installing silently on the devices, so you cannot manually install it if you didn't get the button. Give us your thoughts about the button if you have it.

If you are using the Google Photos app, then you know that Google Drive and Google Photos have a long-lasting relationship. But, it looks like Google is trying to break it. When you upload your photos from the Photos app, you could see them right inside Google Drive. But now, some evidence popped up saying that the relationship between these two apps is failing. Starting from this July, you can no longer access the photos uploaded from Google Drive.

In a teardown by 9To5Google, some strings have been surfaced. Check below.

<string name=”photos_update_description_text_sync_enabled_july”>Starting in July, your Google Photos library will no longer sync to Google Drive. All your files are safe in Google Photos.</string>
<string name=”photos_update_description_text_sync_disabled”>Your Google Photos folder is no longer syncing with Google Photos. Your photos are all safe in Google Photos.</string>

From the first string may show up before the second warning, the users that their photos are no longer syncing with Google Drive. The second string may show after the relationship is entirely down.

Personally, I don't like this relationship going away because accessing the photos using Google Drive was easier any is more luxurious with more options. For now, no news has surfaced for the association of web versions. But my guess is, soon they will go too.

A report from LetsGoDigital sees a recording made by Sony Mobile with the EU Intellectual Property Office. Sony trademarks the name "CinemaWide" and is delegated 'Class 9' which is a general class that covers tablets, cell phones, shows, applications for telephones, in addition to other things. Notwithstanding the general arrangement, we have a brilliant thought about what this trademark could be for.

The documenting was made on February 4, so almost certainly, Sony is going to advertise its 21:9 ultra-wide showcase for cell phones as CinemaWide. Past gossipy tidbits have guaranteed that the up and coming Sony Xperia XZ4 will have this taller proportion show with a goal of 3360 x 1440 px and a corner to the corner screen size of 6.5-inches.
The Sony Xperia XZ4 may be declared amid the MWC at a February 25 occasion, occurring not long from now in Barcelona, Spain. The telephone is said to highlight a triple camera framework with a 52MP picture sensor utilizing a f/1.6 focal point with a 16MP fax camera and a 0.3MP ToF sensor.

The Xperia XZ4 may have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of locally available capacity. In the mean time, there's a 4,400 mAh battery inside just as the most current Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 CPU. On the off chance that Sony ought to declare it at MWC, bits of gossip point to an a lot later discharge at some point later this late spring.

The Sony Xperia XA3 may not be what we thought it would be – new item pictures have surfaced that demonstrate a 21:9 screen on the front, the same perspective proportion from the XZ4 leader.

Leakster @rquandt has been dropping insights that the CAD-based renders didn't demonstrate the front effectively. What's more, presently he just dropped a reserve of item pictures. The back appears to be identical with the level dual camera. However, the front is distinctive surely.

The screen ought to have a 1,080 x 2,560px goals to cover the additional stature. The askew is obscure as it's not exactly clear whether this is the Xperia XA3, XA3 Ultra or, state, the in the middle of Plus variant. Past breaks pegged the XA3 screen at 5.9" and the Ultra at 6.5".
The situation of the side-mounted unique mark peruser is interested as well – it may be difficult to reach on a 6.5" 21:9 gadget. We don't know what to think about the best bezel, either (it's greater than the base bezel).

Anyway, the Xperia XA3 telephones will utilize the Snapdragon 660 chipset and may dispatch with the more established Android 8.0 Oreo. The H4493 pressed 6GB of RAM when it was benchmarked and it should offer 64GB capacity. The double camera on the back will utilize a 23MP primary sensor.
Sony Mobile has updated its Xperia Home beta application to 11.2.A.0.3beta which has many new features and bug fixes. This will replace the previous build number 11.0.A.0.3beta with the latest build number 10.2.A.3.4711.2.A.0.3betabeta. By the look of the build number, we could say that this update is a massive update with many improvements and features. Let's go through the update one by one. As the community requested, Sony Mobile has changed the look of the App Shortcuts menu. Now its more significant and looks like stock app shortcuts menu. Also now near the shortcut icons, there's a small icon which represents the parent app. Furthermore, now the shortcuts menu is shown when long pressing a widget too. From there, you can even resize the widget.

With this new update now you can add widgets directly from the app shortcuts menu to the desktop. These are the main changes, and Sony mobile has added many animations to the Xperia Home. You'll notice them when you are using it. As always, there are bug fixes and performance enhancements. See the full changelog below.

Show a small parent app icon together with shortcut icons

A shortcut menu is now shown also when long pressing folders and widgets

Updated the open and close animation for the shortcut menu

Added option in the shortcut menu to show associated widgets to the app from where the user can add it to desktop

Long pressing a widget will now show the shortcut menu instead of having the widget entering resize mode. The resize mode is instead reached by pressing the resize item in the added shortcut menu.

Added animation for when an app icon is dropped in desktop or app tray

The swipe functionality for entering the app tray view is now only available when the app tray button is disabled from settings "Hide app button."

Added follow finger animation when entering the app tray and search view with swipe

Added dynamic number of rows in the recent searches depending on screen size

Various bug fixes and improvements

Sony Mobile has updated its Xperia Home beta application to 10.2.A.3.47beta which has many new features and bug fixes. This will replace the previous build number 10.2.A.3.24 with the latest build number 10.2.A.3.47beta. So this new version brings Android O support. Sony Mobile took their time, and finally, they have brought the App shortcuts, which is the most requested feature in the beta community during previous months. Now Android 7.1 users have an ability to long press on an icon and use the app's shortcuts instantly.

Also now with this update, Android O users get a notification dot on the apps when an app gets a notification. Apart from this Sony mobile has also added a blurred background behind the folders. As always, there are bug fixes and performance enhancements. Check the full change-log below.

After a few months of waiting, Google finally has announced today the next major version of the Android Operating system. So Android 8.0 (previously known as Android O) will be called Android Oreo officially. Google announces this as "a celestial superhero brought to life by the solar eclipse. Android Oreo’s superpowers make our lives easier, brighter, and more fun". Visit Official Android Oreo Page here. This was announced at a press event in New York City, which coincided with the total solar eclipse in the United States, Google unveiled a superhero-themed statue of an Android Oreo mascot with capes.
Sony Mobile has updated its Music beta app to version 9.3.10.A.1.1 beta, which brings new features. So many users were disappointed with the music widget after Sony Mobile added the grid support to Xperia Home. The Music widget was not resizable, and when we choose larger grids in the Xperia home, widget size was not extendable. But finally, Sony Music team has pushed this beta update with the addition of the resizable widget.

Also, in this update, Sony mobile has included Android Auto support. For those who don't know about Android Auto, here's what is Android Auto
"Android Auto brings the most useful apps to your phone screen or your compatible car display, in a format that makes it easy for you to keep your main focus on driving. You can control things like navigation and maps, calls and text messages, and music."

So now you can easily control your music with Android Auto. Now the Songs view in the Music app supports thumbnails. Earlier it was just a list. Now you can see a small thumbnail before the song name. As always, there are bug fixes and performance improvements. See the full change-log below.

This is bad news. Sony Mobile will be shutting down their TrackID servers permanently in on 15 September 2017. This means that after 15 September TrackID app will not be working. The reason for the shutdown has been still not announced. But Sony simply says "all businesses move forwards, and sometimes this means that apps are discontinued." Also now this means your TrackID history will also be lost after this date. It is recommended to back up the history somewhere else. Those who used and liked TrackID now they can use Shazam instead of TrackID for recognizing music. You still have 2 and a half months to use TrackID. What do you think about the decision ?.

Sony Mobile has updated its Xperia Home Application to version 10.2.A.3.20beta which bring many new features and improvements. So this will replace the previous build 10.2.A.2.30beta. First of all this new version brings support for the new Xperia 2017 range of smartphones which are Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZs, Xperia XA1 Ultra, and Xperia XA1. But they will receive the update not from the software update app, but from the Google Play store. So if you want to become a beta tester and you own a new Xperia 2017 device, Go here to become a beta tester.

Also in this new version, Sony Mobile has reorganized the settings menu. New startup animation looks better too. To check it, you have to go to Developer Options>>Running Services, stop all the Xperia Home processor in running services and cached processes and go again to the home screen. Then you can see the startup animation. As always there are bug fixes and performance enhancement. Check the full change-log below.

Support for new devices.

Promise icons are shown when installing applications.

New startup animation.

Stage icons aligned with the desktop grid.

Settings menu reorganized.

On your Android 7.0+ Xperia device if you pull down the status bar of your Android phone, you’ll likely see a few notifications below a single row of Quick Settings tiles. This single line of Quick settings tile is called the Quick Settings header as it only shows the first few tiles that are available in the full set of QS tiles. There is a method to add or edit many quick settings tiles in the QS list. But there is no proper way to customize how many tiles are displayed on this Quick Settings header. Sony's Quick Settings Header is almost similar to AOSP's Quick Settings header. As there is no formal method to customize how many tiles are displayed, an xda member has found a hidden way that we can set via ADB.

Tutorial

This will only work on Android 7.0 Devices (Xperia, AOSP, Oneplus)

You will need ADB access to use this command. So download the ADB Binary Here

Turn on USB Debugging on your device and Connect it to your Windows Computer. Go to Device manager and check if your device is installed correctly. If not Download the drivers from here and install the drivers manually.

Now extract the downloaded ADB binary. Open the folder which contains adb.exe. Hold shift and right click an empty space on the folder and click "Open Command Window Here."

Now a cmd window will pop up. Type the following code.

adb devices

If your device drivers have installed successfully and your device is connected to ADB successfully, cmd will show your device serial number. If it doesn't show any device at all retry the first steps again.

Now we can begin to change the number of tiles. You’ll need to enter this command to modify the number of tiles shown in the QS header

adb shell settings put secure sysui_qqs_count N

"N" is the number of tiles you need.
Example

adb shell settings put secure sysui_qqs_count 3

as I have entered 3 now, it will change the number of tiles to 3.

You can have a maximum of 6 tiles divided into the space available. If you enter 7, the 7th tile will get overlapped with the drop down icon. Also, you don't need to do anything after giving the cmd command. The tiles will change instantly.

Now if you need to revert back to the original count, just enter the number as "N."

If you have any problems comment it on the comment section. We can sort it out.

If this worked for you, don't forget to leave a comment...

You should already know something about Google Assistant. Google Assistant is one of the best creation of Google. Its lot like an Artificial Intelligence. More like a personal assistant. An upgrade to current Google Now. You can ask a question and follow-up questions, and Assistant will track the conversation, determine context, and audibly respond with the right information. For now Google Assistant is only available in Android 6.0+ devices. You can get it to work after updating the Google App and Google Play Services app. Followings are some of the things can your Google Assistant can do.

Play Music

You can ask your Google Assistant to play you your music. Say "OK Google" followed by "play some music," "play some Jazz," "play some workout music" etc. If you have many music players installed, it will ask you to select a app to play the music. But if this will not work in your Xperia you can just say open "Music App".

Watch something on Netflix

To open Netflix and start watching, say "OK Google" followed by what you want to watch: "Watch Iron Fist on Netflix." This will open Iron Fist on Netflix.

Set Alarms

You can ask your Google Assistant to set the alarm for you. Just say "OK Google" and next "set an alarm...", "wake me up at 6 am",.

Listen to News

To get news just touch and hold the home button on your Xperia and say "international news". You'll get the weather, upcoming meetings, a news narration, etc. You don't have to say "OK Google" all the time.

Ask about your day

You can ask your Assistant to say a brief about the day. Just you need to say "Good Morning." You'll get the weather, upcoming meetings, a news narration, etc.,

Know about your Weather

You can know about your climate from your Google Assistant. Say "OK Google" followed by "How's Weather" or "What about my weather" or "Is it Raining."

Ask a Question

You can ask any general question from your Google Assistant. say "OK Google" and then ask any question, such as "who is Bill Gates" etc

Find stuffs nearby

To find stuffs like restaurants, hotels etc nearby you can say "OK Google" followed by commands like "find a restaurant", "nearby events", "nearby hotel". Sometimes you may need to turn on your location too to get a precise reading.
All the Xperia Z3+, Z4 Tablet, and Z5 series users were disappointed by the recent Nougat update which was first rolled out, pulled and rolled out again. But some bugs were still here such as the low volume bug. Sony promised a new update for this bugs. Guess what, the update is here. Sony Mobile has rolled out the update with the build number 32.3.A.2.33 for Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, and Xperia Z5 series. This will still stay on Android 7.0. Hopefully, this will fix the audio playback issues which were on the previous build numbers. Finally Sony Mobile has included the recent March 2017 security patches. The update is available for Xperia Z5 (all variants), Xperia Z5 Compact (E5803), Xperia Z5 Premium (all variants), Xperia Z3+ (all variants) and Xperia Z4 Tablet (all variants) at the moment. Stay tuned. So if you got the update, send us your impressions about the update.
