This competition invites participants to design new living environments across three realms where physical and environmental conditions redefine the very act of building: flood-prone lands, marine/submarine environments, and outer space.
In these unstable or hostile contexts, the ground can no longer be taken for granted, the atmosphere is no longer assured, resources are limited, and natural cycles impose their own temporalities. The challenge is not to dominate the environment, but to design in harmony with it.
•On flood-prone lands, rising sea levels turn water into a core design parameter: adaptability, reversibility, scalability, and integrated risk management become central to the project.
• In marine and submarine environments, swell, currents, pressure, and buoyancy (Archimedes' principle) call for a systemic approach combining architecture, engineering, and ecology as the driving force of design.
•In space, vacuum, radiation, and microgravity transform architecture into a life-support system: autonomy, closed-loop cycles, modularity, and maintainability structure the proposal.
Projects are encouraged to develop bold, resilient, and tangible responses.
The objective is to place humanity and living systems at the heart of safe and desirable frameworks, capable of turning constraints into resources and inventing new ways of inhabiting the Earth, the sea, and beyond--by bringing together art, science, and technology in close connection with nature.

In 2026, the Fondation Jacques Rougerie - Académie des beaux-arts will reward candidates presenting an architectural project related to flood-prone lands, the sea, or space, by awarding prizes totaling €42,000.

Overview

The Prize would boost the quality of architecture looking at final result, analysing and focusing on project and constructive plan process and giving a special attention to people who determine the success of the work: the architect and the client, supported by the project executors (the building firms) and the public administrations.

Description
The Dedalo Minosse International Prize for commissioning a building, presented in Vicenza (Italy), the city of Andrea Palladio, is promoted by Associazione ALA Assoarchitetti & Ingegneri (ALA) to support high quality architecture.
The Prize comes from the idea that the framework for creating good architectural works is not only determined by the quality of the project (developed by a freelance architect or building engineer), but also by the positive and stimulating role played by the Client.
Starting with the ninth edition, the Dedalo Minosse Prize has included the "Andrea Palladio International Prize", promoted by Caoduro Lucernari from 1987 to 1993.

Overview

The Awards were established in 1985 to celebrate, identify and promote good habitat practices.

Description
Every year between January and March the World Habitat Awards receive applications from all corners of the world. Soon after the call closes we start a rigorous evaluation process involving an independent advisory group of housing experts.
Between eight and 12 projects that demonstrate exceptional work in providing or promoting access to adequate housing are shortlisted as finalists each year.
Up to four projects are then visited by a small evaluation team before recommendations are presented to a panel of external judges, including the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT).
In the final stage two projects become Gold winners and the remaining either Silver or Bronze winners.

a trophy in recognition of their work to develop and deliver good practice in housing;

To boost the architectural education which mainly focuses on basic skill training in its conventional and progressive system, this International Student Competition takes the role as an external platform for student to embrace a brand-new thinking approach in order to improve their comprehensive problem-solving skill, meanwhile it is alsosome kind of headhunter for discovering emerging elite architects.

Description
The competition invites students to engage with the theme Catalysts of Resilience by addressing vulnerable places at risk of future habitational discomfort, inequality or even collapse. Vulnerability may stem from various factors, such as global warming or rising sea levels in certain geographical locations, but it could also arise from issues like political conflict or economic pressures in socially tense areas, among other concerns. The goal is to propose interventions that anticipate and mitigate these challenges by fostering resilience and adaptation to protect and care for these vulnerable sites. This competition asks students to think beyond conventional design methods, using time as a design strategy to catalyse resilient futures.
Participants should identify and creatively address sites predicted to face severe discomfort or collapse in the future --whether human or nonhuman-- due to ecological, social, or material pressures. The main task is to design strategies that anticipate and mitigate these harmful consequences, helping these vulnerable places adapt and build resilience against predicted challenges. These contexts may include urban, suburban, or rural areas where failure may not result in absolute collapse but instead lead to fragile, partially damaged, and complex territories or cities, still retaining traces of hope for uplifted futures. The aim is to characterise these found vulnerable sites and design catalysts of resilience that foster transformation for eco-social betterment over time.

The town of Higashikawa is a major producer of Asahikawa furniture. We are calling for designs that embody KAGU, a new, mindful way of life for the young people who will shoulder the responsibilities of the future.

北海道旭川家具の主要産地である北海道東川町は、次の時代を担う若者に対して、新しい丁寧な暮らしの提案につながる「KAGU」のデザインを求めます。KAGUとは、人間と世界の間をつなぐものの総称で、従来の家具という概念を拡張したものです。私たちは、身近な毎日の暮らしの中で様々なモノを使いますが、そのモノが作られ使われてきた背景はなかなか見えづらいものです。ともすればモノを乱暴に扱い、粗末にし、手間を省いて結果を急ぎ、時間を掛けずに深く考えないような暮らしが、大きなひずみを作ることに気づきました。
これから始まるKAGUデザインコンペを機会に、たくさんの可能性を秘めた君たちのアイディアが、形となり長く使われるように、そして丁寧な暮らしが少しずつ実現してゆきますように。
